Beneath Yellowstone, a volcano
that could wipe out U.S.

It’s the awe-inspiring pride of the United States – and it harbors a deadly power that could kill us all. Yellowstone National Park is pristine wilderness, full of scenic landscape and iconic hot-pools and geysers that attract tens of thousands of visitors every year. But it’s what lies beneath that has scientists scurrying. We’ve long known that Yellowstone is merely the skin on top of a supervolcano – a giant pool of magma sitting just under the Earth’s surface. Exactly how giant has been the subject of much speculation. Until now. A team from the University of Utah have told the American Geophysical Union Fall Meeting

It´s not like this hasn´t happened before. Vesuvius blew without a hint of warning. From studies in this time of the earth, scientists found that there were Christians who were being tortured and raped by those who owned the town, and they warned those who were doing these vile things that God was going to come down on them for this evil. But they were only laughed at. Scientists found writings on the walls of those who were Christians as well as vile paintings of sexual conquests from the wicked on the walls. Well, we all have seen the devastation of that town and that´s only what we KNOW about. God´s patience lasts only so long...then sudden destruction comes. God tries and tries to warn people and woo them to Himself but they refuse.

All this does is expose the arrogance of atheistic leftists who think charging people more for energy consumption could save the planet.

I seriously doubt that a huge Yellowstone eruption is any immediate threat but still it shows that God has an endless bag of tricks if he chooses to unload on the human race.

Actually #1, there were a whole series of earthquakes and tremors leading up to the eruption of Vesuvius, including a massive one (considered a failed eruption) several years before the catastrophic eruption in A.D. 79. The repairs and cracks are quite visible in the ruins.

Super volcano, giant asteroid, the sun going nova, there is always something out there that´s going to destroy us that we have absolutely no control over so why bother worrying about it?
As I told some RCIA candidates years ago who were worrying about the "end times" and the final judgement, it´s much more likely that we´ll be judged individually before that happens so act accordingly.

AUSTIN — A Texas judge was expected to seat a grand jury Monday in an investigation into whether Gov. Rick Perry abused his power by vetoing funding for public corruption prosecutors last year. Special State District Judge Bert Richardson was to oversee the impaneling in Austin. The governor’s office didn’t return messages seeking comment, but The Austin-American Statesman and KVUE-TV reported that Perry took the unusual step of hiring a criminal defense attorney to represent him. The attorney, David Botsford, did not return calls from The Associated Press seeking comment. In June, the governor threatened to veto funding approved by the Texas Legislature

A Texas man was sentenced yesterday to 18 months in state prison for urinating on the Alamo. Daniel Athens, a 23-year-old El Paso resident, pleaded guilty earlier this year to a criminal mischief charge in connection with the April 2012 incident at the Texas shrine. While Athens could have faced a maximum of two years in custody, a plea deal saved him up to six months in custody. Athens was also ordered to pay $4000 in restitution by District Judge Ray Olivarri. Since Athens is not eligible for parole, he will have to serve the entirety of his 18-month sentence. As detailed

When I first started hearing people on the political left describe themselves with some frequency as progressive back in the 1990s, the term did not seem tethered to the epoch-defining, early-20th-century spasm of moral crusading and government centralization that helped give us everything from trust busting to Prohibition to the Federal Reserve. As articulated by champions like Ralph Nader and Molly Ivins, the progressive label was both a way to get out from under the generation-old baggage of liberal-a term Ronald Reagan and others had turned into an epithet-and to differentiate lefties from seemingly apologetic triangulators like Bill Clinton and

For political junkies desperate for clues to the hottest House, Senate and governors’ races around the country, April is the cruelest month. While Illinois and Texas primaries were held last month, the 48 remaining state contests don’t start up again for three weeks. Here’s the good news for those of us hoping to determine whether Democrats or Republicans will be celebrating in the fall: From early May to early September, we’ll have a steady stream of conventions, primaries and runoffs to keep us busy. We’ve already learned a little from the first two contests. On March 4, Texas told us two contradictory

Bad as Obama’s poll numbers are, they bode worse for Congressional Democrats. Obama is being buoyed by continued strong support from Democrat voters. The problem for Congressional Democrats is that November’s election outcome will not be determined in Democrat strongholds. Recent Quinnipiac polling data (released April 2, of 1,578 registered voters nationwide, with a MOE of +/-2.5%) showed the president with a deeply negative rating on his handling of the economy: 40% approval and 55% disapproval. The court’s recent decisions easing the flow of generous campaign contributions already shifted the electoral landscape. If the court finds that even the most patently outrageous statements about candidates may not be barred by law, those two decisions combined could expand the rhetorical battlefield of the midterm elections and raise the attack ad volume as never before. Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)
