Obamacare Disinformation Runs Deep
Tribune Media Services, by Jonah Goldberg

‘Obamacare was sold on a trinity of lies.” That ornate phrase, more suitable for the Book of Revelations or perhaps the next installment of Game of Thrones, comes from my National Review colleague Rich Lowry. But I like it. Most people know the first deception in the triumvirate of deceit: “If you like your health insurance you can keep it, period.” The second leg in the tripod of deception was “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.” But the third plank in the triad of disinformation hasn’t gotten much attention: Obamacare will save you, me, and the country a

If there is but one thing that the Republicans must do in 2014, it is to never fail to mention that Obamacare is not just Obama--100% of the democrats exclusively own it.

Good point, 1! I´m starting to think that recent protests of the very term "obamacare" as racist or whatever, are actually part of a clever "please don´t throw me in that briar patch" scheme, to wit: they WANT this fiasco associated primarily with O because he won´t be on any ballot. We should start calling it DemoCare; tar the whole lot of them with this rotten, deceptive national theft of Liberty.

If one person gets kicked off food stamps because of a republican cut it would make national news for weeks. But here we have late stage cancer patients more or less being thrown in the street to die and not a wimper from the media.

There´s illegals in this country getting such things as free dialysis treatments but a real American who´s worked all their life gets Obama´s green pill.

The whole question of how much preventive medicine the society should provide is a difficult one. Part of it is pure economics. If the person is young and still has a lot of productive value to the society ahead of them and you can put a dollar figure on that production, you can ask, “How much does the test cost and what it the probability that it will save that productive value?”

If that kind of “dollars and cents” analysis dictates that you should do the test (or procedure), then you should definitely do it. An example is childhood immunization against deadly diseases.

But, in addition to economic concerns, there are also emotional and moral questions. How much should a society pay to prevent the pain that parents feel when they lose a child? How do you value the worth of five more years of life for an 80-year-old man?

These questions are beyond economic analysis and are therefore in the realm of moral, philosophical or political analysis. Heaven help us!

There´s a 4th leg. If you like your prescription that works, you may not be able to keep it because BarryCare also may not cover it. You can still keep it, but insurance will not cover it and you will have to pay full cost out of pocket. There is a 5th leg too. BarryCare limits Medicare procedures, tests, operations, etc. There is a mandatory Death Panel for this.

FTA "The president and his allies also insisted that all of Obamacare’s “free” preventative care would save the country vast amounts of money."

The people who have no previous insurance are, by definition, people don´t plan their lives very well. Only a delusional liberal would think that those same people would start to plan their lives if the health coverage is provided free. In other words, most of these people will continue as before, go to the ER when a health issue arises. No change, except the rest of us have either lost our health coverage, or soon will.

obamaCare is the current/next iteration of the Banking Crash of 2008. Please God, save us from these demented liberals.

So, it was not just "We have to vote for it to find out what´s in it!" BS. The Democrats voted it upon us- all by themselves. I loved one excuse a Democrat put forward- "Well, this is really the Republican´s fault- if they had fought against it harder we would not have voted it ito law!" (paraphrased, of course and sadly I forget the idiot´s name who said it).

As for the often heard call for "Please, God! Save us from these demented Democrats/liberals." God will only help those who help themselves. We did this as citizens. It is our mess. We demanded "Prefect" conservative candidates that don´t exist. We sat on our hands. We refused to turn out when the call came. We knew what the rats would do to us! We understood this all along. And we failed to stop them. Well, welcome to the government you/we deserve. We must do better next time (if there is a "next time") or get more of the same or worse.

I recently found out the penalties can be much more severe than advertised too. The penalty applies to each person living in the household. So a young couple with 3 kids and no insurance will, by year 3 of Obamacare, owe thousands of dollars in penalties every year.

Lies, all the way down. Ldotters remember Jonah´s dad and smile.

´´God helps those who help themselves´´ is such a wrong and anti-Christian expression. Repeatedly, God illustrated that He helps those depend on Him. Those who know the Bible know that God had Gideon pare down his army until few were left in order that the people would know God was the one who gave them the victory. He said, ´´... lest Israel claim glory for itself against Me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me.´ ´´ We must turn to God for our salvation in the situation as well as our individual spiritual salvation.

AUSTIN — A Texas judge was expected to seat a grand jury Monday in an investigation into whether Gov. Rick Perry abused his power by vetoing funding for public corruption prosecutors last year. Special State District Judge Bert Richardson was to oversee the impaneling in Austin. The governor’s office didn’t return messages seeking comment, but The Austin-American Statesman and KVUE-TV reported that Perry took the unusual step of hiring a criminal defense attorney to represent him. The attorney, David Botsford, did not return calls from The Associated Press seeking comment. In June, the governor threatened to veto funding approved by the Texas Legislature

A Texas man was sentenced yesterday to 18 months in state prison for urinating on the Alamo. Daniel Athens, a 23-year-old El Paso resident, pleaded guilty earlier this year to a criminal mischief charge in connection with the April 2012 incident at the Texas shrine. While Athens could have faced a maximum of two years in custody, a plea deal saved him up to six months in custody. Athens was also ordered to pay $4000 in restitution by District Judge Ray Olivarri. Since Athens is not eligible for parole, he will have to serve the entirety of his 18-month sentence. As detailed

When I first started hearing people on the political left describe themselves with some frequency as progressive back in the 1990s, the term did not seem tethered to the epoch-defining, early-20th-century spasm of moral crusading and government centralization that helped give us everything from trust busting to Prohibition to the Federal Reserve. As articulated by champions like Ralph Nader and Molly Ivins, the progressive label was both a way to get out from under the generation-old baggage of liberal-a term Ronald Reagan and others had turned into an epithet-and to differentiate lefties from seemingly apologetic triangulators like Bill Clinton and

For political junkies desperate for clues to the hottest House, Senate and governors’ races around the country, April is the cruelest month. While Illinois and Texas primaries were held last month, the 48 remaining state contests don’t start up again for three weeks. Here’s the good news for those of us hoping to determine whether Democrats or Republicans will be celebrating in the fall: From early May to early September, we’ll have a steady stream of conventions, primaries and runoffs to keep us busy. We’ve already learned a little from the first two contests. On March 4, Texas told us two contradictory

Bad as Obama’s poll numbers are, they bode worse for Congressional Democrats. Obama is being buoyed by continued strong support from Democrat voters. The problem for Congressional Democrats is that November’s election outcome will not be determined in Democrat strongholds. Recent Quinnipiac polling data (released April 2, of 1,578 registered voters nationwide, with a MOE of +/-2.5%) showed the president with a deeply negative rating on his handling of the economy: 40% approval and 55% disapproval. The court’s recent decisions easing the flow of generous campaign contributions already shifted the electoral landscape. If the court finds that even the most patently outrageous statements about candidates may not be barred by law, those two decisions combined could expand the rhetorical battlefield of the midterm elections and raise the attack ad volume as never before. Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)
