A Long Island boy, 6, who was born without part of his left arm, whispered a wish into Santa Claus’ ear during a recent visit: he would like prosthetic arm so he can finally play an Xbox One, MyFoxNY.com reports. Insurance does not cover a prosthetic limb for Christopher Kiezek because it was determined that medically it is not necessary to his life. But Robert Jackson, a friend of the family, heard about the boy’s secret wish and started fundraising. “I cried,” Jackson told the station, upon hearing the request. He hopes to raise $25,000 by Christmas. Kiezek, who just recently started to take up fishing,

I know some of you might think this is sappy. But... it´s Christmas. Send $10 and somewhere an angel will get his wings.

Take him to Shriners Hospital for Children. He will be treated until his 21st Birthday without regard to ability to pay. They specialize in "growing" prosthetics with the child.

Transportation and necessary lodging will be provided to and from treatment sessions if needed. It is what we do.

Groups like the Shriner´s make more of a positive contribution to our Country than Obama ever has or will. Who on earth has such a hard heart that they can tell a child that having two arms is not medically necessary to his life?

Viagra isn´t medically necessary to men´s lives either but it gets covered by insurance now doesn´t it? What it has contributed to is a rise in STD´s in nursing homes.

Shriner´s Hospitals have helped children for years. I have personally seen the good work that Shriner´s do. I am a volunteer driver that helps transport children and their parents to a Shrine Hospital for treatment. I can relate hundreds of stories of how Shriner´s Hospials have help children. Shriners hospitals actually make tailored prosthetics "in house" for their patients.

Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) employees aren´t necessarily better at investing in stocks than everyone else, but they are much better at getting out of bad investments before the "bad news" hits. That´s according to a new paper by Shivaram Rajgopal and Roger M. White, called, "Stock Picking Skills of SEC Employees."

Vermont plots course for

WASHINGTON – While all eyes are on the ObamaCare rollout, an ambitious health care experiment is going forward in Vermont that would create a government-run alternative know as a "single-payer" system -- and it´s starting to attract more attention from liberals frustrated with the Affordable Care Act´s implementation. Democrats´ faith in ObamaCare has been shaken by the technical failures of the federal and state insurance exchanges as well as, in some cases, premium increases. In Vermont, however, they see a potential first step toward the kind of national government-run health care system some have advocated for years.

Overshadowed by the bungled debut of Obamacare and congressional gridlock, most Americans in a new poll dubbed 2013 a bad year that will be quickly forgotten. For more than four-in-10, the perils of 2013 hit home hard.“Put simply, most Americans are happy to see 2013 go,” said the latest Economist/YouGov Poll.— 54 percent called 2013 a “bad year” for the world. Another 15 percent called it a “very bad year,” with just 3 percent calling it a “very good year” and 29 percent a “good year.”— Only 13 percent of Republicans say 2013 has been a good year for the world. Obamacare is a failure. “There are almost no issues where a majority of Americans have seen improvement.

The unmanned Chang'e 3 lander, named after a mythical Chinese goddess of the moon, touched down on Earth’s nearest neighbor following a 12-minute landing process. The probe carried a six-wheeled moon rover called ‘‘Yutu,’’ or ‘‘Jade Rabbit,’’ the goddess’ pet. After landing Saturday evening on a fairly flat, Earth-facing part of the moon, the rover was slated to separate from the Chang'e eight hours later and embark on a three-month scientific exploration.

Democrats are facing a senior problem that could get even worse this year. The party has traditionally had trouble with older voters, losing the group aged 65 and over by 21 points in 2010 — when Republicans picked up 63 seats — and by 12 points in the 2012 presidential race. Seniors are the GOP’s most reliable voting bloc in midterm years, turning out in higher numbers than Democratic base voters.
