Strike Iran Now to Avert Disaster Later
Wall Street Journal, by Norman Podhoretz

Original Article

Posted By:MDMuskrat, 12/12/2013 9:22:43 AM

Not too many years ago, hardly anyone disagreed with John McCain when he first said that "the only thing worse than bombing Iran is letting Iran get the bomb." Today hardly anyone disagrees with those who say that the only thing worse than letting Iran get the bomb is bombing Iran. And in this reversal hangs a tale. The old consensus was shaped by three considerations, all of which seemed indisputable at the time. The first was that Iran was lying when it denied that its nuclear facilities were working to build a bomb.

We let Saddam Hussein play footsie with us and UN inspectors for 18 months before "rushing to war." Then we were utterly dismayed that we didn´t mind massive stockpiles. What we taught the world with our internal political discord was that you can threaten the use of WMD with no consequences because a logical response to that threat is intolerable as long as it was only a bluff. So now the vow to destroy the great Satan which should merit a response regardless of proof of the ability to do so, goes unaddressed.

Norman....Norman...there you go, getting all logical again. The Left and the Media (oops, same thing) don´t want to hear your precise historical analysis. All that matters is that America is an evil and racist country that must be brought down so that all the other poor countries can be brought up.

We must share the poverty.

We must share the tyranny.

It´s only fair.

Trial Lawyers Mobilize for Democrats
Wall Street Journal, by Kimberley A. Strassel    Original Article

Iowa Democratic Rep. Bruce Braley is still taking flak for his recent put-down of Sen. Chuck Grassley. That´s all wrong. Give the trial lawyer a medal for alerting the electorate to a big—if overlooked—issue in this year´s midterm: legal reform. Mr. Braley, as part of his bid to replace retiring Sen. Tom Harkin, found himself at a fundraiser full of Texas trial attorneys. He scornfully warned that a GOP Senate would put the Judiciary Committee in the hands of "a farmer from Iowa [Mr. Grassley] who never went to law school."

Sen. Ted Cruz has released a dynamic new video featuring highlights of the senator´s biggest moments. Cruz encourages Republicans to stand for the rights enshrined in the Constitution, and to stand on principle. "We can either choose to keep our head down, and not rock the boat, to not stand for anything, or we can stand for principle," the Texas Republican says in the video. "Yes, we can," he concludes, echoing President Obama´s 2008

"If we are lending money that ostensibly we don´t have to kids who have no hope of making it back in order to train them for jobs that clearly don´t exist, I might suggest that we´ve gone around the bend a little bit," says TV personality Mike Rowe. Rowe is the longtime host of Discovery Channel´s Dirty Jobs, where he takes on gigs straight out of Bob Dylan songs: working on fishing boats, sewer systems, oil derricks, slaughterhouses, and more. "There is a real disconnect in the way that we educate vis-a-vis the opportunities that are available,"

As longtime readers may know, Bob Ehrlich, Robert L. Ehrlich Jr., is one of my favorite politicians in America. A Maryland Republican, he served in Congress and also as governor of his state. (snip) He was elected to Congress in the big Republican year of 1994 — “the Glorious 104th,” I used to call that Congress. He had no business being elected governor of Maryland in 2002, but he was. Maryland was a very, very Democratic state. There hadn’t been a Republican governor since the 1960s — since Agnew. Moreover, Ehrlich was running against a Kennedy: the lieutenant governor, Kathleen

The Ted Cruz Effect: Political Gold?

Ted Cruz is not on the March 4 primary ballot. But his likeness is all over TV and in campaign materials, as a slew of Republican candidates on the primary ballot are using his words and — in rare occasions — his endorsement to reach out to voters. This year, having Cruz weigh in any way possible “is political gold,” said Mark P. Jones, a political science professor at Rice University in Houston. His thumbs up for a candidate serves “as a signal to Cruz’s plethora of supporters within the GOP primary electorate who the ‘true’ movement conservative in the in the race is,” he said. And that has made a number of candidates try to link themselves

The last time I interviewed Ted Cruz, the freshman senator from Texas, was in October, about a week after the end of the federal government shutdown. Although Democrats control the Senate, he announced, they would have to convince at least five Republicans to join them in supporting a bill to raise the debt ceiling or else he would delay the bill by filibustering. In doing so, he raised the ire of colleagues like Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who was forced to vote to forestall the filibuster—and might

Sarasota, Florida—The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) just held its winter meeting here, and the wealthy beachfront communities that dot the coast are typically considered one of the beating hearts of the Establishment GOP´s donor community. Tonight, though, it´s Cruz country. An event originally scheduled as a small rally for potential 2016 presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) mushroomed into a major political event after nearly 2,000 people RSVP´d online. “We are shocked at the level of interest that we’ve received for doing this rally,” Sarasota GOP chairman Joe Gruters told Breitbart News.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) thinks that the House GOP leadership’s renewed push this week to grant amnesty to illegal aliens would destroy the Republican Party’s chances at retaking the Senate in 2014. Cruz questioned how establishment Republicans unilaterally caving to Democrats on everything from the farm bill to the budget to the debt ceiling and more could think amnesty is a good idea at this time. "Right now, Republican leadership in both chambers is aggressively urging members to stand down on virtually every front: on the continuing resolution, on the budget, on the farm bill, on the debt ceiling,” Cruz

The alert was just the latest example of the federal government’s continued struggle with oversight over its outside contractors. But buried in the 7.1 million enrollments he announced in a heavily staged appearance is a more unsettling reality. Numbers from a RAND Corporation study that has been kept under wraps suggest that barely 858,000 previously uninsured Americans – nowhere near 7.1 million – have paid for new policies and joined the ranks of the insured by Monday night.

Speculation that Romney might run again has largely been stoked by the reunion he planned to host last month in Park City, Utah, for members of his 2012 campaign and debate team and a string of recent public appearances. He has appeared on TV news shows 12 times in the past six months. That’s essentially on pace with Michigan GOP Rep.
