Obama’s Orwellian Image Control
New York Times, by Santiago Lyon

Original Article

THE Internet has been abuzz over the spectacle of President Obama and the prime ministers of Britain and Denmark snapping a photo of themselves — a “selfie,” to use the mot du jour — with a smartphone at the memorial service for Nelson Mandela in South Africa on Tuesday. Leaving aside whether it was appropriate, the moment captured the democratization of image making that is a hallmark of our gadget-filled, technologically rich era. Manifestly undemocratic, in contrast, is the way Mr. Obama’s administration — in hypocritical defiance of the principles of openness and transparency he campaigned on — has systematically tried

Wow. Are the White House stenographers and court eunuchs of the loathsome MSM finally discovering that when they discarded any journalistic integrity they may have had left in order to obediently lie, cover-up and fabricate "reports" for Dear Leader, that Dear Leader didn´t treat them as anything but White House stenographers and court eunuchs without any journalistic integrity? Welcome to the sentient, loathsome MSM.

Nah. Tomorrow the republicans will still be the embodiment of evil, in the mind of the NY Times. And their leader will still be opposed by all thinking people for the sole reason of being black.

You know the idiot who took the pic of Obama´s selfie is really mad at himself for doing it and creating the firestorm response.

Aside from that,I can´t get my arms around the LSM complaining that they can´t get their own pics of Obama. This is really getting under their skin, not all the Obama failures as president.

What do you need pics for anyway, everybody already knows what Obama looks like.

Why are the photographers so upset about this? Their colleagues in the press have been taking the official white house propaganda, er news, and passing it off as original reporting for years.

The Truth eventually rises to the top, especially when those suppressing it get their ox gored.

Suddenly the New York Times is pi$$ed because they´re not top dog. They´re not getting the respect they believe they are due. No one is kissing their respective derrieres any more. And the Old Gray Lady doesn´t like it.

Now they know how it feels being screwed without getting kissed.

The MSM won´t turn on Obama and they well continue to carry his water for at least the next two years. They may then turn their attention to electing another socialist regime.

Yesterday´s "photo of the day" was obviously not produced by a WH photog, nor was the one of the taking of the selfie, with the Dour MO scowling away in the background. Nor was the one of BO half-bowing to Raul Castro.

Amazing what a little foreign press coverage can produce.

In our country, media access is power. The person who takes the pictures and who tells the story and who edits the final piece controls the minds of the public. If you control the mind of the public you also control the voting results at the polls.

An aspiring dictator begins with a small circle of comrades. He gains followers by spreading elements of the power to an ever-widening circle. Once in office, however, he begins to pull the power back into his own hands. Over time, he draws that power into a smaller and smaller circle of trusted comrades. Finally, he alone holds the reins.

This article seems to indicate that some of the established liberal organs are becoming fearful that Obama is contracting the power base to a circle that excludes them.

#3. Why do we need photos anyway? Because visual cues are a vital feedback mechanism. Photos offer clues of problems the parties are not willing to talk about. That´s because many people can control their voice and to a lesser extent their facial expressions. Far fewer can control body language. Body language in a group picture can speak volumes. (Remember all those bows to tyrants?)

This administration has established an Imperial Presidency like no one has dared in the past. This article is a whine that the poor reporters cannot gain access to the president. Meanwhile this president is bypassing the Constitution by running the government through Executive Order, regulations, and illegal actions that he dares anyone to challenge.

When the Slimes can honestly report on the destruction of this country by illegal operations by BO, THEN maybe we will worry if they cannot snap a few candid shots of our Dear Leader.

The blindness the Slimes shows to the nature of BO´s actions is breathtaking.

Our nation is dying and they refuse to challenge the obvious tyrany that is engufing our nation. One small editorial, critical of a small and insignificant aspect of the tyrant´s behavior - one that incidentally mostly offends the media themselves- will not open the flood gates of rebellion we need to stamp these beasts back to their socialist lairs.

So to allow the world to catch up the US must be taken out of the equation! Even if it means exploding an electro-magnetic weapon to destroy the electrical system of the US! If you think this is crazy, ask what was moving atomic weapons a few months ago without proper authorization was all about? What is firing top generals that controlled those weapons is about? Before the cannons fired at Fort Sumter, the Confederates announced their rebellion with lofty rhetoric about “violations of the Constitution of the United States” and “encroachments upon the reserved rights of the States.” But the brute, bloody fact beneath those words was money. So much goddamn money. The leaders of slave power were fighting a movement of dispossession. The abolitionists told them that the property they owned must be forfeited, that all the wealth stored in the limbs and wombs of their property would be taken from them. Zeroed out. Imagine a modern-day political movement that contended that mutual funds and

In a new book released today, Massachusetts Democratic senator and potential presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren attempts to rewrite history regarding the controversy surrounding her “Native American” ancestry that emerged in the 2012 Senate campaign. What’s remarkable is that, at least in the initial book reviews, the press largely allows her to get away with it. In fact, it’s virtually ignored that to this day Warren still refuses to release any law school records that may shed light on this controversy. To be fair, most reviews note that Warren has never substantiated her claims of Native American heritage, which is true.

After years of litigation, the Supreme Court on Monday said it would decide if Congress or the State Department has the final say in whether U.S. passports acknowledge Jerusalem as part of Israel. This touches on one of the most sensitive issues in decades of Middle East conflict, and the case also presents a major separation-of-power conflict between the legislative and executive branches. The controversy is over a 2002 law passed by Congress regarding passports. It says that a U.S. citizen born in Jerusalem may request his or her birthplace to be listed as Israel. The Obama administration is poised to entertain a flood of new clemency applications from thousands of federal prisoners who were given harsh sentences under mandatory-minimum laws following drug convictions, Attorney General Eric Holder said Monday. Holder said in a short videotaped statement that he wants to shrink the federal prison population by a modest amount while ensuring ´that those who have paid their debts have a chance to become productive citizens.´ At the center of the move is a set of old sentencing rules that punished crack-cocaine offenders with more time behind bars than users or traffickers of powder cocaine.

The Citizens Commission on Benghazi, a self-selected group of former top military officers, CIA insiders and think-tankers, declared Tuesday in Washington that a seven-month review of the deadly 2012 terrorist attack has determined that it could have been prevented – if the U.S. hadn´t been helping to arm al-Qaeda militias throughout Libya a year earlier. ´The United States switched sides in the war on terror with what we did in Libya, knowingly facilitating the provision of weapons to known al-Qaeda militias and figures,´ Clare Lopez, a member of the commission and a former CIA officer, told MailOnline. She blamed the Obama administration

Global sea levels have risen by 8 inches (20cm) since 1880 and scientists predict they could rise up to 3ft (98cm) by 2100. But despite the UN’s recent threats of war, famine and extreme weather, such a dramatically different world caused by sea level rise can be hard to imagine. To help picture the future, Martin Vargic, an amateur graphic designer from Slovakia, has created a map depicting the planet with sea levels around 260ft (79m) higher than they are today. He imagines what Earth would look like if the ice sheets surrounding the North and South poles melted, releasing

It may not be tomorrow, but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) says "something will happen" to force a Nevada rancher to obey a court order to stop grazing his cattle on federal land and pay his grazing fees. "It´s obvious that you can´t just walk away from this," Reid said in an April 18 interview with a Nevada´s KSNV-TV News 3 program “What’s Your Point?” "You can´t have a law that is -- we´re a nation of laws, not of men and women," he said. (Video) Reid noted that most cattlemen pay their taxes, pay their fees, and follow

Joan Eisenstodt didn´t have a stopwatch when she went to see an ear, nose and throat specialist recently, but she is certain the physician was not in the exam room with her for more than three or four minutes. "He looked up my nose, said it was inflamed, told me to see the nurse for a prescription and was gone," said the 66-year-old Washington, D.C., consultant, who was suffering from an acute sinus infection. When she started protesting the doctor´s choice of medication, "He just cut me off totally," she said. "I´ve never been in and out from a visit faster." These days,

Harry Reid isn’t backing down from his claim that rancher Cliven Bundy’s supporters are “domestic terrorists.” It’s astonishing rhetoric given the White House’s characterization of the mass shooting by a genuine terrorist, Major Nidal Hasan, who killed 13 Americans at the Fort Hood Army base after yelling “Allahu Akbar!” (God is great.) Rather than labeling Hasan’s actions “domestic terrorism,” the Obama administration is prosecuting him for having committed “workplace violence.” Democratic rhetoric is become ever more desperate and overheated as we approach the November midterm elections. Last week, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said that GOP positions on immigration were motivated by
