Shimkus on Sebelius: ‘It’s Like
Talking to the Republic of Korea’

Cybercast News Service., by Michael W. Chapman

In a contentious exchange with Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius over her repeated claims that mandated health services do not raise costs for consumers in the form of higher insurance premiums, Rep. John Shimkus (R-Ill.) waved his hand in apparent surrender and said to her, “It’s like talking to the Republic of Korea or something.” Shimkus apparently was referring to North Korea, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, where the Communist rulers there spout pro-government propaganda that is then glowingly reported by state-run media.(Video)

Shimkus may as well get used to it, that is, until Zippy expands executive privilege to all of his cabinet members.

I watched a little of this, and I said to myself, "this is what Common Core is about" - the woman kept speaking and moving her hands about but she was just spouting meaningless prattle, and I could imagine Hillary and others like her sitting around in a room talking at each other. They are incapable of giving a truthful response to any question; they just keep saying anything to fill up the time. Total waste of time, and when the representatives ask her to get back to them with answers to their questions, she should do so. Someone should tell her she works for us (and that includes the representatives).

#3, I watched a few minutes of CSpan this evening, where they were interviewing Penny Pritzer, the new Commerce Secretary, and it was maddening. She is as vacuous as Kathleen the Catholic Baby Killer, and said lots of nonsense things.
Her job as commerce secretary was, she said, to empower her employees. What?
This collection of oddities known as the Obama cabinet represents the worst that America has to offer. Honestly.

Read up on Penny Pritzker, #4. Her money comes from the Hyatt Hotels, but she has her fingers in a lot of pies, in Chicago and elsewhere.

It was she who was supposedly purchasing Obama´s mansion in Hawaii for him to live in after his presidency.

Veteran investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson resigned from CBS News after 20 years with the network, expressing frustration at being unable to get her stories on air. Following Attkisson’s resignation, the folks at Fox News’ “Media Buzz” expressed dissatisfaction at the state of journalism in America’s newsrooms and the culture of liberal bias that exists. Appearing on the program on Sunday March 16th, the entire panel acknowledged the disturbing trend of journalists putting their politics above journalism with host Howard Kurtz observing that Attkisson felt it “was almost impossible to get these tougher pieces on the air.” As the segment began,

Today, the image would have gone viral in an instant: The president of the United States, dripping wet in swim trunks before a throng of excited beachgoers, trading a look and a laugh with an attractive woman in a polka-dot bikini. But well before the Internet´s relentless rationing of spontaneous fame, the 1962 photo of President Kennedy at Santa Monica´s beach made quite a splash. For a Los Angeles woman named Eva Ban, its effect lasted a lifetime. Ban was the woman in the two-piece swimsuit, which was called a bikini in news accounts but was modest by today´s standards.

The Washington Free Beacon has compiled the video below of Harry Reid chanting “Koch brothers” 134 times on the Senate floor. It has a formulaic quality, like the phrases Homer hold in reserve to fill out dactylic hexameter lines in the Iliad and the Odyssey. What “wine-dark sea” was to Homer, “Koch brothers” is to Harry Reid. (Video) Reid, however, isn’t in search of a metrical line to fill out a great poem. He is simply executing the latest Democratic campaign to stigmatize private citizens in the service of his partisan political purposes. When Reid took to the floor of

A group of Asian Americans is starting a grassroots effort to garner support for the Republican Party and its candidates, saying the GOP most closely aligns with their core values including family, education and entrepreneurship. The group, the Asian Republican Coalition, is co-founded by international investment banker John Ying, who during the 2012 presidential election cycle served on the Republican National Finance Committee. “We need a forum, and this first step will go a long way,” Ying told FoxNews.com earlier this week. LONDON— With support growing for independence just months before Scots decide whether to break up with Britain, outsiders are weighing in with impassioned calls to keep the three-century-old union together. British officials from across the political spectrum, European Union leaders, corporate executives and retired military commanders have made their cases. Even David Bowie registered a plea for Scotland to “stay with us.” But there has been conspicuous silence from one major player with a lot to lose if Scotland secedes: the United States. A vote for independence would dismember Washington’s closest and most important ally, leaving behind a not-so-great Britain at

WEST SHOKAN, N.Y.— IF my mother had been aware enough to know what we were spending on her care, she would have been aghast. She’d always been frugal. I once noticed the remains of the Easter ham in the refrigerator two months later. “Don’t you think it’s time to throw that out?” I asked. “Ham doesn’t go bad,” she explained. She could make a piece of tinfoil last clear into the next decade. She once made an old corduroy jumper of mine into a seat cover for the rocking chair — perfectly good material, not to be wasted. The last rancher in southern Nevada has won a battle over the federal government´s round up of his cattle on public land after a week-long standoff with agents. The Bureau of Land Management announced today that it would stop trying to seize the cattle of Cliven Bundy after armed militia gathered in Nevada. Shortly after the deal was agreed, about 100 armed protesters, some on horse back, headed to a corral to demand the BLM also hands back cattle it had already taken. Armed members of the BLM and the Bundy family were also reported to be involved in tense talks

It began by noting the general offended liberals (without using the L-word): “Carl E. Many Americans have been watching with great consternation the ongoing struggle between the Federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the U.S. Marshals against Cliven Bundy and his family. There are no signs of either side relinquishing their position. Many onlookers have been informed that this dispute is over protecting the desert tortoise. But it is nothing of the sort. In fact, the reality of the dispute goes far underneath what is being talked about. The more appropriate source of the dispute is ground water as well as surface water -- this is a war over water. According to NBC News, who spoke with a Secret Service official, the U.S. Attorney’s office has declined federal prosecution. Following the massacre of grammar-school children in Newtown, Conn., in December 2012, high-powered weapons have been used to kill innocent victims in more senseless public incidents. Those killings, however, are only a fragment of the total harm caused by the misuse of firearms. Each year, more than 30,000 people die in the United States in firearm-related incidents. Many of those deaths involve handguns. The adoption of rules that will lessen the number of those incidents should be a matter of primary concern to both federal and state legislators. Legislatures are in a far better position than judges to assess the

Obama argued that attempts in some states to impose new voter identification restrictions were actually efforts by Republicans to make “it harder, not easier to vote.” And the president said that while voter fraud should be prevented, it rarely occurred. “So let´s be clear, the real voter fraud is the people who try to deny our rights by making bogus arguments about voter fraud,” Obama said.
