Rep. Steve Stockman Exempts
His Staff from Obamacare

Breitbart´s Big Government, by Matthew Boyle

Like Senate Majority Leader Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV), Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX), the GOP primary challenger to Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), has exempted his staff from Obamacare. In late October, the Washington Times reported that Stockman “said his staff unanimously voted to reject Obamacare enrollment, saying the law subsidizes abortion and is a ‘Ponzi scheme’ that forces young people to pay more for health care.” “Mr. Stockman´s spokesman, Donny Ferguson, said the staff will be designated as ‘not official’ and keep the federal plan,” the Times reported before quoting Ferguson: “I hope Obama will appreciate us doing our part to

Exempting for abortion funding reasons ... I don´t have a problem with that.

Perhaps all the pro-life Congressmen should do the same.

Why would someone pro-life NOT be against Obamacare?

It is a total boondoggle and funding or supporting it is voting for the ruination of our country.

Nobody wants a milstone around their necks for hurting innocent children.

Stockman has just shown some brinkmanship in dealing with 0bamaCare. Now is not the time to worry about the election in 2014, or later. Save as many of the "little" people on your congressional political staff to fight another day. We know by now who most of the RINOS are, and John Cornyn is definitely one of them.

But, #6 does not answer my question. #9. Why is it wrong (as illustrated by the loud protests on this forum at the time) for Reid to exempt his staff ,but admirable for Stockman to do the same thing.

It´s phony of us to claim different rules for our own. It´s equally wrong for each of them, of course.

It´s not phony!

It´s a perfect defense. Government regulations prohibit funding for abortions. Obamacare covers abortions. Claiming exemption because they are pro-life is valid.

From what I recall, Reid exempted his staff because they whined.

I´d love to see the Dems wiggle on this.

Harry Reid voted for this law and is now being hypocritical by exempting his staff from its consequences.

Rep. Stockman did not vote for this law and is continuing to stand for what he believes in by protecting those that he can from its consequences.

Its bad to be a hypocrite, its good to stand by your beliefs and principles.

Support appears to be crumbling among constituents of Senator Al Franken (D-MN) and Minnesota Democratic Governor Mark Dayton, according to new poll data posted from Public Opinion Strategies this week that the Minnesota GOP is touting. The statewide survey of 600 likely Minnesota voters, conducted between March 3 and 5, shows "fewer than half of Minnesotans (48%) want Al Franken to remain their US Senator." The data also shows that only a "slim majority of Minnesotans" (51%) want Dayton to remain as their governor. Both Democratic politicians lost considerable support among independent voters. Only 43% percent of independents think that

House Republicans are plotting a $1.7 billion tax increase aimed at America’s most elite colleges and universities. The tax increase is buried on page 879 of Congressman Dave Camp’s 979-page tax reform bill. The bill is considered unlikely to become law, but Mr. Camp is chairman of the powerful, tax-writing Ways and Means Committee, and his draft legislation is likely to provide a road map for tax reformers in years ahead. The tax, as outlined in Section 5206 of the legislation, is called an “excise tax based on investment income of private colleges and universities.” It begins, “there is hereby imposed on each applicable institution for the

How does classifying most consensual sex as rape help rape victims? As a lawyer who has handled rape and sexual harassment cases, I can’t imagine how. But this radical result is what some want to happen in California. In endorsing a bill in the California legislature that would require “affirmative consent” before sex can occur on campus, the editorial boards of the Sacramento and Fresno Bee and the Daily Californian advocated that sex be treated as “sexual assault” unless the participants discuss it “out loud” before sex, and “demonstrate they obtained verbal ‘affirmative consent’ before engaging in sexual activity.” Never
