Free Hunter Yelton
Wall Street Journal, by James Taranto

Hunter Yelton of Cañon City, Colo., is accused of sexual harassment. Hunter Yelton is 6 years old and in the first grade. "He has a crush on a girl at school, who likes him back," reports Colorado Springs´ KRDO-TV. "It may sound innocent enough," the station intones. But in Barack Obama´s America, even a small boy can become a sexual suspect. "It was during class yeah," Hunter tells the station. "We were doing reading group and I leaned over and kissed her on the hand. That´s what happened." His mother continues explaining: "[The girl] was fine with it, they are ´boyfriend and

´Zero Tolerance´ means never having to consider the complex nature of the human experience.

Factory workers may have many de-humanizing rules thrust upon them but those in academia seem to absolutely beg to never have to make a decision about anything.

Zero Tolerance should be the slogan of the Dem party.

This morning our local ClearChannel guy played a recording of Hunter explaining what happened. This is the sweetest little boy who has no idea what is going on.

He will have now a sexual harrassment designation in his permanent folder and he can´t even explain what it is.

I was tearing up listening to Hunter.

If the parents of a significant number of students at that school refused to allow their children to be exposed to the mental midgets operating that facility there would be change.

They need to band together to protect their kids.

Reading the New Republic piece by Tom Donnelly of the Constitutional Accountability Center (a self-described organization of "constitutional progressives"), you´d think you´d gone back in time two years. "It´s the blockbuster case of the term," Donnelly says, referring to a dispute over ObamaCare now before the Supreme Court. "It is also a crucial test of Chief Justice John Roberts´s leadership. . . . The stakes for his reputation--and that of his Court--couldn´t be higher." "Chief Justice Roberts has often spoken about how important it is for the justices to maintain the legitimacy of the Court--by limiting divisive rulings, moving the law

The story in today´s Philadelphia Inquirer begins reassuringly: "Nearly six months after the disastrous launch of Healthcare.gov, with the website running smoothly and more than five million people signed up as open enrollment heads to a close . . ." But it turns out that´s just disclamatory throat-clearing. Here´s the rest of the paragraph: ". . . a new glitch has come to light: Incorrect poverty-level guidelines are automatically telling what could be tens of thousands of eligible people they do not qualify for subsidized insurance." Obama using powers of persuasion

WASHINGTON — Ronald Reagan used to say the nine most terrifying words in the English language were: "I´m from the government and I´m here to help." Barack Obama is offering Americans his own twist on that message: He´s from the government and he needs your help. Frustrated by the inability of Congress and the White House to reach agreement on much of anything, the president is increasingly relying on his powers of persuasion to cajole people and organizations to help tackle some of the country´s big problems —voluntarily. Lots of presidents promote volunteerism, of course. This is something different. The president this year

With just 250 shopping days until Election Day, a New York Times/CBS News has good news for Republicans. Asked how they plan to vote for the House, "42 percent say they will back Republicans in November, and 39 percent indicate that they will back Democrats." Times reporters Jonathan Martin and Megan Thee-Brenan note that´s "a difference within the poll´s margin of sampling error." More pertinent, however, is that this "generic ballot" question tends to overstate Democratic support. In October 2010, just before the Republicans picked up 63 seats and a majority, the Democrats had a one-point edge, 43% to 42%, in

Sometimes it´s wise to resist the temptation to form an opinion on every event related to culture and politics. The guys at MediaMutters.org note one such case under the headline "Fox Freaks Out Over CVS Ending Sales of Tobacco": On February 5, CVS Caremark announced that it would stop selling cigarettes and other tobacco products at its pharmacy stores by the beginning of October. . . . On Fox´s The Real Story, host Gretchen Carlson approached the CVS decision with suspicion and a remarkably uninformed premise, asking, "Is it OK legally . . . to restrict tobacco availability in a private store

Whether or not legalizing marijuana is a good idea, as a purely descriptive matter it is an idea whose time has come. In 1996 California voters approved Proposition 215, a ballot measure immunizing from prosecution those who use marijuana under a physician´s recommendation. A 2003 state law, drolly titled Senate Bill 420, established a regulatory regime designed to "facilitate the prompt identification of qualified patients . . . in order to avoid unnecessary arrest"--i.e., to make medical marijuana easier to obtain. Since 1996, 19 more states and the District of Columbia have enacted laws to permit medical marijuana, according to ProCon.org.

Ezra Klein is back in line. The Journolist founder, who now runs Wonkblog for the Washington Post, took some flak from other left-liberal journalists last year when he acknowledged that the ObamaCare exchanges had serious technical flaws. But now, as we move into Phase 3 of the ObamaCare failure--the unraveling of its economic assumptions--Klein and his wonkblogger staff are full denial. One result has been an entertaining and informative set of rebuttals from the heterodox liberal blogger Mickey Kaus. It began with a Dec. 17 post by Wonkblog´s Sarah Kliff with the less-reassuring-than-intended title "Why Obamacare Won´t Spiral Into Fiery, Actuarial

"Expect the unexpected" has been good advice for anyone following American economic news since 2009. That news has usually been bad, and almost always "unexpectedly" so. The surprise is a product of ideological bias: With a kindred spirit in the White House, liberal reporters expect (or at least hope for) good things to happen. A cynical observer might suggest that there is an element of deliberate spin involved, with reporters hoping to keep readers´ expectations afloat until next month´s report. This Reuters dispatch applies the practice to a new subject: Health insurer Humana Inc said on Thursday that it projected its enrollment

One of the excuses for the technical incompetence of ObamaCare is that the president and his team were the victims of "sabotage" by congressional Republicans. Todd Purdum, a leftist longtime New York Times reporter, put forward this claim in a Politico op-ed last week, and yesterday the Washington Post´s Jonathan Capehart, perhaps Obama´s most effusive male admirer, echoed it, citing a deeply reported story by his Post colleagues Amy Goldstein and Juliet Eilperin. The idea that Republicans have "sabotaged" ObamaCare is ludicrous on its face. Sabotage entails destroying or damaging something by subverting it--by stealthily undermining it from within. When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. Climate change’s latest casualty appears to be fish — or more specifically, fish brains — as researchers say the carbon dioxide that’s being absorbed into the ocean is causing the scaly creatures to lose their survival instincts. In other words, the fish are losing their minds, The Daily Mail reported. The acid from atmospheric carbon dioxide seeps into sea waters, dissolves and ultimately lowers the pH balance, researchers said. The acidic waters then hamper the fishes’ sensory systems, so they’re not able to distinguish between smells any longer, the scientists went on. When the acid levels get really high, the fish lose their
