I suspect Mooch´s displeasure had very little to do with Barry´s juvenile behavior at a memorial service and everything to do with his attention to the blond PM sitting next to him.

Not excusing it at all, but I think we now have seen for ourselves why Obama usually travels separately from his wife. That is one angry and ugly woman to have to live with.

I suspect that the divorce that did not happen in 1999, will happen after Obama is done in 2016. If only for his own physical safety. She probably throws a mean punch.

I´ve been around a lot of politicians. Most of them are very good at picking up non verbal hints from their spouses when they start to cross certain boundaries. Usually it involves talking too much about themselves or talking politics when other topics are more appropriate to the situation. Obama seems oblivious to such clues.

Enough of this beating on Michelle. She has a husband man needs to be the center of attention all the time and two kids to raise, so my sympathies are all with her. She could mask her displeasure a bit better, but her apparent anger is not unwarranted. Her husband was being a jerk.

How does the Republican Party establishment choose its presidential candidate? Typically, constitutionalists accuse their establishment rivals of being moderate, risk-averse, stubborn old fools who lack faith in conservative principles. This is a soothing interpretation, as it begins from the hypothesis that the contest between conservatives and the GOP elite is a family feud. But there is another hypothesis -- less soothing, but, at least from an outsider´s bird´s-eye view, more reconcilable with the facts. This hypothesis is that America has reached a stage of progressive soft despotism in which the only important family feud in national politics is between the fundamentally
