On Tuesday morning, New York’s top court ruled that FoxNews.com reporter Jana Winter cannot be forced by a Colorado court to reveal her sources regarding a major story about the Aurora movie theater shooter. Voting 4-3 in favor of Winter, the New York State Court of Appeals reversed a lower court order and effectively prevented Winter from having to be subpoenaed by the Colorado court. “[A]n order from a New York court directing a reporter to appear in another state where, as here, there is a substantial likelihood that she will be compelled to identify sources who have been promised

Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly made her inaugural appearance on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno Monday night and discussed how she went from practicing law to hosting a primetime show on Fox, how much fun she has catching politicians in their dissembling, and why she so dislikes Anthony Weiner (aside from the obvious). “I’m a straight news anchor, I’m not one of the opinion hosts at Fox,” Kelly said. “But I always laugh, because I’ll have a conservative pull me aside and say, ‘I love your conservative principles,’ and I’ll say, ‘You assume too much.’ And then the liberals

LOS ANGELES- CBS says it is adapting U.S. author Alice Hoffman´s 2011 historical novel "The Dovekeepers" as a miniseries to air in 2015. Roma Downey and Mark Burnett are executive producing the project, which is about four extraordinary women whose lives intersect in a fight for survival at the siege of Masada in 70 C.E. "After being forced out of their home in Jerusalem by the Romans, 900 Jews were ensconced in a fortress at Masada, a mountain in the Judean desert," CBS said in a synopsis. "Besieged at Masada, the Jews held out for months against the vast Roman

Here´s the tweet from Carrie Underwood that has everyone talking... [Tweet] She was responding to some harsh criticism of the "The Sound of Music Live!" which aired on NBC last week, starring Underwood as Maria von Trapp. The show, which still garnered huge ratings, ended up being parodied by "Saturday Night Live" and was even criticized by some of the original "Sound of Music" stars. Actress Kym Karath tweeted that some of the show was "painful to watch." "X Factor" host Mario Lopez joined Fox and Friends this morning to discuss Underwood´s performance and the response. Yesterday, The New York Times reported that President Obama had hired former-President Clinton Chief of Staff John Podesta as "counselor" for a year. This would actually be the second time Podesta served Obama, since Podesta led Obama´s presidential transition team in 2008. Since then, Podesta has not only returned to the progressive think tank he founded, the Center for American Progress (CAP), but he has also created a brand new think tank, the Washington Center for Equitable Growth, to focus on just income inequality. So just what will Podesta be doing for Obama this time around? The NYT reports: Mr. Podesta

President Obama’s disapproval rating has shot up to 53 percent, the highest rating the McClatchy-Marist poll has recorded for him in nearly 30 surveys. Obama´s approval rating stood at 43 percent the poll released Monday night. Obama’s approval rating has been hanging in the low 40s for the last few months as the 16-day government shutdown and the shaky rollout of the healthcare exchange website dominated the news. But there is plenty of disapproval to go around. A plurality of people, 38 percent, would grade all Washington officials with an “F,” according to the poll. NASA Curiosity rover discovers

NASA’s steady reconnaissance of Mars with the Curiosity rover has produced another major discovery: evidence of an ancient lake — with water that could plausibly be described as drinkable — that was part of a long-standing, wet environment that could have supported simple forms of life. Scientists have known that the young Mars was more Earthlike than the desert planet we see today, but this is the best evidence yet that Mars had swimming holes that stuck around for thousands or perhaps millions of years. (It would have been very chilly — bring a wet suit.) The findings were being

JOHANNESBURG — President Obama, his predecessor, and the woman who might be his successor crossed the Atlantic together Monday in an example of extended bipartisan togetherness to pay tribute to Nelson Mandela at a memorial service Tuesday. For more than 16 hours, Mr. Obama hosted former President George W. Bush and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton aboard Air Force One — part of a global pilgrimage that is expected to bring as many as 100 world leaders to South Africa. Today Politico´s Dylan Byers got tough on MSNBC with two posts calling into question the channel´s journalistic credibility. Byers started the day by going after MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry for something she said over the weekend. Harris-Perry claimed Sunday that the term Obamacare was an attempt by white people to denigrate a black President. Byers pointed out that "Hillarycare" and "Reaganomics" seem like similar appellations and asked, in light of these, how "Obamacare" could be implicitly racist while the other terms are not. It´s not clear whether Harris-Perry responded to Byers´ challenge privately but she did not tweet (or anything

Mr. Murray, who wrote “Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible,” argues that Scotland’s decrease in quality whiskey is due to the use of sulphur candles to sanitize some barrels that have been used to age sherry, giving it a “bitter finish.” Bourbon, however, is aged in virgin oak casks, which do not require sulphur treatment, the Telegraph said. “The best whiskey is coming not from Scotland any

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a last minute decision not to participate in a memorial service for the late South African President Nelson Mandela, despite having notified the South African government that he would attend the event. The decision was made in light of the high transportation costs resulting from the short notice of the trip and the security required for the prime minister in Johannesburg. The Prime Minister’s Office found that the trip would have cost roughly 7 million shekels ($2.4 million) – 2.8 million shekels for chartering a private El Al plane and a further 3.2 million shekels for
