Ben Affleck on Republican Actors:
´I Probably Wouldn’t Like
This Person If I Met Him´

NewsBusters, by Noel Sheppard

Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I

Comments:
Hey Ben, I feel the same way when I see leftists. I´m so tired of these narrow minded crapweasels. I watched a really sweet enjoyable movie Saturday on Hallmark Channel and I had to ignore the fact that one of the parts was played by Ed Asner. All I could think of when I saw him was that he was an evil admitted Socialist. Fortunately he played a minor part so it didn´t ruin the movie.

Who is Ben Affleck? What has he every done? Why would I care what he thinks about anything?

Ben Affleck is a famous actor and is Batman. He allegedly wrote Good Will Hunting. He has been in a lot of movies. I don´t know why you should care what he thinks.

People need to get over that others happen to disagree with you and enjoy movie/music/inventions/stores, etc.

The movie on the Hallmark channel with Ed Asner is about a returning Soldier from Afghanistan and a wonderful heartwarming movie. Well worth watching.

Ben a long time since I saw an actor who wasn´t an actor. Apparently it doesn´t take long for them to believe so much in their character roles that they believe they are always in character.

Sad that there are so few role models in the public eye that these actors are held in such high esteem and are held up by the fourth estate as shining lights of wisdom.

How nice that Ben Affleck grow up as a racist do to his parents. After all that is exactly what a racist is: They make broad assumptions about people they know nothing about. But that is probably why he is a Democrat.

So it´s precious to see him polishing his liberal bona fides. That´s the ticket.

One must bear in mind that in Hollywood, actors/producers make big money largely by being popular and by being in the forefront of the news. The spigot will turn off if they are perceived as being right-wing or as being "old news."

Being liberal protects Hollywood multi-millionaires from accusations of being cold-hearted money grubbers. All they need do is contribute $100k a year to lib candidates and give a few interviews in which they claim to care about the downtrodden. That´s it. They can then earn $20 to $50 million a year and everyone will still love them as big-hearted, caring liberals.

Hate to burst anyone´s bubble but Ed Asner is also a very outspoken liberal. He is a a long time member of Democratic Socialists of America.

As for a list of actors to boycott, you should just filter the list of actors with a list of conservative actors. It is only a handful long. Like journalists, musicians and college professors, actors are overwhelmingly Democrats, Liberals and Socialists---of course they believe it should only be applied to the peons. They are not about to give up their freedoms or assets.

I am proud of those in Hollywood who come out as Conservatives or Republicans. It takes a brave person to do that in that Communist community. Author’s Note: This week, capitulating to Islamic-supremacist agitation led by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Brandeis University reneged on its announced plan to present an honorary degree to Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the heroic human-rights activist. In my 2010 book, The Grand Jihad, I devoted a chapter to the origins and purposes of CAIR, its roots in the Muslim Brotherhood’s Hamas-support network, and its aim to silence critics of Islamic supremacism. In light of the continuing success of this campaign — despite a federal terrorism-financing prosecution that exposed CAIR’s unsavory background — it is worth revisiting that history. What follows

Despite the testimony of GM CEO Mary Barra that the company "acted without hesitation" to address the ignition switch problems that served as the basis for the latest recall of millions of vehicles, emails show that GM failed to address product problems, some of which Barra herself seemed fully aware of, at least as far back as 2011. The company, often derided as "Government Motors" because of the billions of tax dollars infused into it by President Obama, has been under fire this month because of ignition switch problems linked to dozens of crashes and perhaps as many as 13 deaths.

SAN DIEGO, CA -- Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke via satellite to attendees of San Diego’s Western Healthcare Leadership Academy on Apr. 11, just days after canceling plans to attend in person. A rapid shift to wind and solar power is needed if the world is to avoid catastrophic global warming, the United Nations warns in a crucial report today. Emissions of greenhouse gases need to be cut by up to 70 per cent before 2050 to control climate change, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) says. ‘Large-scale changes in energy systems’ are required, with coal power stations to be switched off and replaced by wind and solar. And the transformation needs to be made in the next 15 years or controlling climate change will become increasingly harder and more expensive. The report was published

LAS VEGAS — The Nevada Republican Party stripped opposition to abortion and gay marriage from its platform Saturday as state convention delegates instead focused on judging fellow Republicans on their worthiness to serve in office and adherence to GOP values. The platform, with few changes, was adopted overwhelmingly as the Las Vegas convention stretched late into the evening. The vote mirrors that of the Clark County GOP, which voted earlier to remove platform language defining marriage as between a man and a woman and statements opposing abortion. Many Republicans are re-evaluating their strong stances on conservative social issues as public

Say what you will about Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), but they know a train wreck when they see it. They also know when to separate themselves from the cranks and the losers on the right. Although both supported the shutdown and were heartily supported by tea party groups in their own Senate races, neither one has endorsed Matt Bevin in Kentucky, Milton Wolf in Kansas or Chris McDaniel in Mississippi. In fact, Cruz’s office confirms he hasn’t endorsed anyone in the primaries. He may weigh in after the primaries. Rand Paul has endorsed two very establishment

A brazen flash mob has been caught on camera storming a California store and making off with $20,000 worth of sunglasses. Surveillance footage shows eight women piling into a Sunglass Hut and crowding around display cases. Shielding workers from what they´re doing, they quickly stuff dozens of fashion specs into their bags. A store clerk pleads with them to stop, before running out of the shot to get help and dial 911. The thieves then all bolt outside and escape in a waiting SUV. The incident occurred at the Valencia Town Center mall, in Santa Clarita, at 3 p.m. on

It’s hardly been a secret that in recent years the moderate center of the Democrat party has been driven away and what remains is a conglomeration of disparate blocs which, to date, the party has been able to treat as if there were no conflicting interests between them. As the midterm elections approach and the administration’s incompetence, along with the distaste for the president’s signature ObamaCare legislation, drive the party’s chances down further, the make-believe coalition of opposites may well crumble if the opposition doesn’t blow it. Democrats hope to retain control of the Senate and recapture the House by driving

The last rancher in southern Nevada has won his battle to graze cows on public land after a week-long stand off with federal agents. The Bureau of Land Management today said it would stop trying to seize the cattle of Cliven Bundy after armed militia members today continuing to gather in Nevada in a confrontation with federal agents. BLM Director Neil Kornze said: ´Based on information about conditions on the ground, and in consultation with law enforcement, we have made a decision to conclude the cattle gather because of our serious concern about the safety of employees and members of
