ARLINGTON, Va.- Conservative groups in 34 U.S. states plan coordinated assaults on taxes, healthcare, public sector pensions and the environment, organizing papers indicate. They also plan a strategy to push for expanded access to school vouchers to encourage home schooling, the documents published by Britain´s Guardian indicate. The newspaper published the papers in conjunction with the Texas Observer in Austin and the Portland (Maine) Press Herald. The documents can be found at tinyurl.com/UPI-SPN. The conservative strategy, organized and coordinated by the State Policy Network in Arlington, Va., includes proposals to cut public sector pensions, lower government-worker wages, eliminate income taxes,

Anytime Conservatives stand up for their beliefs, the media deems it an "assault".

What a completely biased article, complete with words like "assault", scare quotes around "reform" etc.

It´s pathetic how the lefty´s whine like infants with soiled diapers whenever conservative freedom loving people do some community organizing of their own.

Obama touts executive actions
with pitch to ‘work together’
Washington Times (D.C), by Ben Wolfgang    Original Article

In what’s become a recurring theme, the weekly addresses of President Obama and congressional Republicans offered a preview of the two sides’ political strategies heading into this fall’s midterm elections. Mr. Obama and his fellow Democrats are pushing an income-equality agenda that includes a hike in the nation’s minimum wage and more federal investment into manufacturing, infrastructure, education, and other areas. The GOP, on the other hand, continues to zero in on the president’s health-care reform law and its negative consequences, a tack the party is sure to continue heading toward the November contests. In his weekly speech, the president

Baghdad -More than 700 people died in violence in Iraq in February, not including nearly 300 reported deaths in western Anbar province, where security forces have been battling Sunni Muslim rebels since January, the United Nations said on Saturday. The world body said local authorities had recorded 298 civilian deaths in Anbar, but that it could not confirm the figures independently due to the chaos in the desert region. Outside Anbar, the bloodshed was worst in Baghdad, where 239 civilians were killed, followed by Salahuddin province to the north with 121 dead. A total of 1,381 people were wounded.

The show must go on. A 37 year-old man plunged to his death Friday from the W hotel, landing on the roof of the Lunt Fontanne Theatre, where he remained until Saturday morning. Workers said they heard a loud noise moments before “Motown the Musical” began. “Everybody heard a thump. They thought it was an explosion. It shook the chandelier,” a worker said. “They jumped up, it scared them,” a second worker said. The play started at 7:30 p.m. “The box office workers heard it and [they] were waiting for everybody to start running out,” the worker said. But no

The creators of Northern Kentucky’s controversial Creation Museum say enough money has been raised to proceed with a new biblical theme park built around a 510-foot replica of Noah’s Ark. Ken Ham, the president of Answers in Genesis who gained national attention earlier this month after a debate with Bill Nye the Science Guy, said that after a recent bond offering “the funding is in place” to start building the “Ark Encounter” park on an 800-acre site in Grant County, Ky. The Ark’s website says it has raised $14.4 million in private donations toward the $24.5 million needed to build

Senate Democrats will not write a budget for the next fiscal year. One year after writing and passing the first Senate Democratic budget resolution in four years, Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray (D-Wash.) said her conference will not make an effort in the 2014 midterm election year. In a statement, Murray said there was no reason to do a fiscal 2015 budget after the two-year deal struck in December with House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.). That deal set budget ceilings for the 2014 and 2015 fiscal years. The 2015 fiscal year begins on Oct. 1. “Fiscal Year

Russian President Vladimir Putin received permission Saturday from parliament to mobilize the country´s military in Ukraine. Parliament voted unanimously on the request and also recommended that Moscow´s ambassador be recalled from Washington over earlier comments made by President Obama. Putin says the move is needed to protect ethnic Russians and the personnel of a Russian military base in Ukraine´s strategic region of Crimea. The request comes a day after President Obama warned Moscow that "there will be costs" if it intervenes militarily in Ukraine. "I´m submitting a request for using the armed forces of the Russian

Americans take justifiable pride in the freedoms given to them by nature or God and enshrined in the Constitution’s Bill of Rights. As we seem to be finding out day after day, however, those rights are no longer of any real value; they are, as James Madison suspected they would be, “parchment barriers” against the encroachment of government and a population conditioned to believe that rights originate with that government, not from a higher power. Founding philosophy believed that the legitimacy of government sprang from defending rights inherent to human beings; if the government were to violate those rights, it

"Basically, I´m here to announce that we´re building Iron Man." Seriously. President Barack Obama said that during a White House manufacturing innovation event. Sure, he was joking, but we all know that in some way or another, there is truth to that statement. We didn´t get much more info besides Obama revealing that "researchers who invent some of the most advanced metals on the planet; designers who are modeling prototypes in the digital cloud; folks from the Pentagon who help to support their work" are involved with a "secret project we´ve been working on for a while." That´s enough info

A federal court has ruled that an American school student has a right to free expression -- unless that American might be threatened for that expression by others, in which case state officials have the right to quash the offending expression to appease potential aggressors. Which, ipso facto, means Americans have no right to free expression at all. For if it’s not the government’s role to protect expression that is thought to be offensive by a vicious mob, what purpose does the First Amendment have? “Safe” expression needs no protection, after all. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled upon the constitutionality of a decision

WASHINGTON — The recovery appeared to be reaching escape velocity at the end of December, but it turns out the economy wasn´t expanding quite as fast as initially thought — and that doesn´t bode well for hopes of a breakout this year. The Commerce Department sharply reduced its estimate of fourth-quarter growth to a moderate 2.4% annual rate. Friday´s revision downsized big gains in consumer spending and exports from its initial estimate of 3.2% in January. The updated figures on total economic output, known as gross domestic product, indicated the economy entered this year with less momentum than analysts had

If you listen to the chattering class in Washington, D.C., Hillary Clinton is a virtual certainty for the 2016 Democratic nomination, and the front runner in the next presidential race. But in private, rumors persist that the former Secretary of State may not even be capable of making it to Iowa and New Hampshire. Clinton, these skeptics often say, will not run for president again because of health concerns. These ubiquitous rumors of her health have been fueled in part by the supermarket tabloids. The National Enquirer wrote in 2012 that Clinton had brain cancer, something a spokesman dismissed then as “absolute

The “greatest buried treasure ever unearthed in the United States” is about to be hit by the tax collector. According to Kathleen Pender, a columnist at the San Francisco Chronicle, the couple who found in cans buried on their property more than 1,400 rare gold coins worth more than $10 million will probably owe close to half of that sum in federal and state income tax, whether or not they sell the coins. She quoted a 2013 tax guide in which the IRS stated: “If you find and keep property that does not belong to you that has been lost or

Kerry Kennedy has been found not guilty of drugged driving — and gave herself a hearty round of applause after jurors were dismissed from court by a Westchester County judge. The jury handed down the verdict after just 30 minutes of deliberation Friday morning. The six-member panel had deliberated about 45 minutes Thursday night after being handed the case. Kennedy — who had faced up to a year in jail if convicted — hugged both her lawyers as the verdict was read, and then began clapping after the jurors left the courtroom. The question isn’t why Arthur Chu brought his peculiar, buzzer-smacking brand of game play to “Jeopardy.” The question is why, in 50 long years of the show’s history, more people haven’t done the same. Chu, if you haven’t heard of him, is the “Jeopardy” contestant nonchalantly bulldozing America’s collective nostalgic vision for how game shows should work, who cruised to his eighth straight victory on Thursday night. SEVASTOPOL, Ukraine — Heightened Russian military activity in Crimea on Friday prompted a stern warning from President Obama and a deepening sense of crisis among the leaders of the new Ukrainian government in Kiev. U.S. officials said Russian troops had entered Crimea, and Obama told reporters Friday evening that he was “deeply concerned by reports of military movements” and that there “will be costs for any military intervention.” Earlier in the day, the new Ukrainian government said that hundreds of soldiers in green camouflage, without insignia but carrying military-style automatic rifles, had taken over two airports in Crimea. President Barack Obama is warning Russia "there will be costs" for any military maneuvers it launches in Ukraine, a move U.S. and Ukrainian officials say they believe to be already underway. Officials say Obama may retaliate by canceling a trip to Russia this summer for an international summit and could also cut off trade discussions with Moscow. But it´s unclear whether those moves will have any impact on Russia´s calculus in Ukraine, which is at the center of what many see as a tug of war between East and West. Benghazi: Former CIA acting Director Mike Morell might be recalled for testimony to determine if he misled Congress and doctored the White House response to a terrorist attack to ensure President Obama´s re-election. The administration´s tangled web of Benghazi lies might be unraveling some more. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers, R-Mich., has told Fox News that Morell, a former deputy director and twice acting director of the Central Intelligence Agency, will likely be recalled to testify. The recall comes after new charges surfaced that Morell misled Congress about what he knew regarding the 2012 Benghazi attack and when he knew it.
