Young people have bailed on
Obama. Why that matters a lot.

Washington Post, by Sean Sullivan and Scott Clement

Original Article

Posted By:Dreadnought, 12/4/2013 10:44:06 PM

One of President Obama´s chief political assets has been his ability to excite young people like almost no politician in history. But the days of America´s youth fawning over the president are over. A new Harvard University Institute of Politics poll released Wednesday confirms what other surveys have shown in recent months: Millennials have soured on Obama so much this year that their opinion of him largely mirrors the American public´s. Even though Obama does not ever have to face another election, he should be worried about the findings for a couple of reasons, which we will dive into momentarily.

Yeah, now live with it. We told you so, but you knew better and were pretty rude about it in the bargain. Look around, some of your dumber friends are still all in. Next time, less running your mouth and a lot more listening. Unfortunately we ALL have to dig real deep to get out of this mess.

Wait until they start getting hit with the Obamacare non-compliance penalty. It jumps to 2-1/2% of income by 2016. For someone making $48K/year that is a $1,200 slap across the face.

Keep your hands out of my pockets kids, I earned it. Thanks to who you voted for, you won´t have that opportunity.

From the time the Democrats pushed Obama Care through the Congress on a party line vote, to when the Obama crew started implementing Obama Care last month, is a time period longer then the total time that the USA was engaged in the Second World War, and to date has turned out to be a big time fiasco, with millions of Americans losing their current health care insurance due to Obama Care federal regulations.

Obama Care is actually health care insurance and is not health care. The next step for Obama and the liberal Democrats is for the government to take over the running of health care in the USA under a government run health care system. Seeing what a fiasco Obama Care has become, do you really want the government to take over your health care? If not, do not vote for Democrats in the 2014 election next November.

Even if those young especially 18-24 wanted Obe care their jobless numbers means no pay no taxes and no loot for da won.
when their parents lose their coverage and jobs they can´t sign up and can´t pay taxes to fund the mess.
Where then is Obe going to get his loot? Perhaps he with held back part of the 10 billions of Iran´s sanctions.
Does anyone think Soros will bundle it?
Perhaps he will ghost write another volume called nightmares from my political demise.

Every thing looks different when it becomes personal.

In the 60´s, had a cousin who bemoaned the fact that all the boys were growing their hair long and looked like girls; then, her son started growing his hair long and she stopped talking about it.

These kids are looking at the job market - scary - and thinking about the loans they have to repay - scary - everything is getting way too personal.

Maybe they could time-travel back to the 60´s and grow their hair long and be cool again.

To be clear, young voters continue to side with Democrats more than Republicans, and it’s likely Democrats will continue to hold a significant advantage among younger voters in presidential contests where they are motivated to vote by the campaign.

So all Obama would need to do is to break out the music and Hollyweird celebs, flit from campus to campus, et voila! The little dears will flip on a dime and grovel adoringly. That´s the cynical but reasonable view.

The other view is that the interests of young people lie in money and the high cost of Obamacare as compared with ideology, since most said they are not very political.

There´s a lesson here: Mercurial as this demographic seems to be, they can be had at the right price - money or fun.

I wish this was a sign young people are waking up the the false promise of big government but I don´t. The angry young people Obama is losing is because they believed Obama would have a delivery wagon of free stuff and that´s fallen through because they´re shocked they have to pay for something, namely Obamacare..

The lure of free benefits always comes with a cost and they´re running out of funders for their schemes. This country is no different than a household making mortgage payments on credit cards.

Our hope is demographics. Roberts was right, Obamacare is a tax and now Obama has bitten the hand that feeds him; the lofo´s who did not pay taxes are becoming, inadvertently (because no one read the bill), taxpayers who will toss this clown (and his enablers) out on their collective ears.

They are expected to financially support the Obamacare program, they will repay the trillions in debt their hero wasted and stole, they will inherit a country with fewer opportunities and is less secure/safe.

FTA:" One of President Obama´s chief political assets has been his ability to excite young people like almost no politician in history."
We have three children in their 30s and I beg to differ with the that opening assertion. What we have in this country is a steady , ever-increasing infusion of white guilt in our pulic schools . Although our three do not seem completely unfazed , they do seem to realize the folly of our education system. I´m afraid those in their twenties have been far more indoctrinated. It is no coincidence that the Constant Campaigner in Chief spends an inordinate amount of time reading from the TOTUS in grade schools , high schools and colleges.

Obama will appoint these little dears to the death panels and they will have no trouble at all denying care to the old farts who they believe are using too many health care dollars anyway. They are a cynical bunch who are self-focused to a fault.

The smart ones will come to realize that their founder´s government wasn´t such a bad idea after all. Then the question becomes, will they have the honor and courage to do something about it?

You can only get so much applause and adoration by giving ´keggers´ (college students hanging around kegs of beer) free, green, glow in the dark sticks, free Frisbees and a free Obama t-shirt with that stupid logo saying ´We Can´

Good luck to the hapless Obama voters with your nifty education, student loan debt, while you mop the floor at McDonalds hoping to move up to the Drive Thru window.

After spending 12 years in our pathetic public school system and 4-5 years in our generally pathetic higher education/liberal indoctrination system the words of the great Ronald Reagan ring more true today than ever: "It isn´t so much that liberals (aka young people) are ignorant. It´s just that they know so many things that aren´t so".

It takes a few years outside the liberal concentration camps attempting to make a living for them to finally begin to realize they´ve been fed BS all this time.

Maybe this thing is beginning to turn around.

I´m skeptical that this really matters. No matter what your age, if you were slow-minded and gullible enough to vote for Lightbringer in 2008, 2012 or both, you are still slow-minded and gullible enough to help elect The Smartest Woman In The World in 2016, even if Lightbringer´s light has dimmed somewhat in your eyes. I know quite a few young voters and have not seen any significant change in basic sympathies since last November.

This is a demographic that customarily stays out of the process. The cult of Obama drew them in, but now the disillusion has set in. While we can´t count on them revolting (in the sense of switching their vote), we can certainly expect inertia and the lack of inspiration to keep them home. This may be the best and most realistic scenario.

I´m praying that the younger generation are capable of learning from their mistakes, but given that they stuck with Odumbdumb through a second election, I´m not so sure that they are. FoxTVNews can get more viewers by using more young people 24/7. It´s not exactly exciting watching one good looking, long haired blonde after another. Let´s build up an image of smart young college, working and professional voting age kids. Come on, they all are NOT staying at home. Putting a new young crowd on regular programming will draw even bigger numbers. For all you do, Roger, REPLACE a few of those Juan, Allan, Beckel COMMIES. ..... With bright, young adults.
Young people want to see and hear more young people.
Roger, that´s a new mix that will work !
"Balanced" lefties are a pain in the ars. Watching them with they´re fake arguings and interruptions is like watching TV wrestlers. ... It´s just plain stupid, Roger !

After reading posts that made my point regarding the probability that young voters will conclude that this pop culture phenom failed them but will turn around and vote for the next cool myth, I need to pivot to what we can do about it. We must teach at every possible opportunity to the extent we can without driving them off. We have to teach history, and the reason for learning history. The collective learning of humanity as relevant and essential as learning fire is hot. Freedom correlates to the advancement of human kind totalitarianism leads to genocide.

I make hiring decisions, and all things being equal, I don´t hire young Democrats. I won´t pass up a potential star who is a Dem and hire a dullard conservative, but strangely I never seem to have to make that tough choice.

Young Dems not only tend to be inept and foolish, but they dragged us into this mess and they need to savor it fully.

Same within my extended family. The youngsters know better than to complain about the economy or the tax bite out of their paycheck (if they get one), because I just ask whether they voted for the guy who promised to raise taxes or the guy who promised to lower them. The conversations tend to be pretty short after that.

It´s surprising that more if any journalists don´t characterize the Obamacare debacle as a war, an attack on America-a cold war/attack perhaps but still an attack. One of Lenin´s known concepts to controlling the populace was to simply control their healthcare. Obama is attacking America just as the North Koreans might have began attacking M.A.S.H. ambulances bearing red crosses, prior to a final push to annihilate any remaining resistance during the Korean war. So how long is the US populace going to be in a gray area with no coverage?

What´s worrisome is the oh so very short attention span of many twenty somethings. To inflict a major lesson on them, will require substantial, long term hits to their wallets/pocketbooks. Obama will try to throw them goodies n stuff to distract them.

I don´t put too much faith in the younger generation getting more conservative as time goes on. After all, they have been indoctrinated (NOT educated) every since kindergarten. They don´t have a real background in American history since all they have been taught is how cruel America has been to certain peoples and the many mistakes that have been made. As such, they don´t know any better. And they have really never been taught critical thinking. They don´t question the things that they should because they have been told that they don´t need to. That great, diverse, everyone´s equal country is just around the corner. They just need to get rid of conservatives and Republicans and all is well. Well, someday, don´t know when, reality is going to hit them in the face. And when it does, there is not going to be anyone to help them anymore. When you run out of money, dims don´t want you any more.

Most of the yutes (especially our dear college students) have few or no realistic
ideas about anything like the economy or our national heritage because they have
little or no experience, no responsibilities, and are not in any realistic way held accountable for much of anything.

They have lived a cossetted life for too long.
To them, life is like football rankings or basketball rankings.
You can go from utter zero to national hero in just the few weeks of a season.

In real life, that just does not happen.
Overnight success often takes 25 years or more to come to fruition.
Unless you´re an instant billionaire by being a dot.com genius, of course.

Now they see they´ve been played for suckers, been lied to,
been taken for a ride and taken advantage of.

Will they figger out how their socialist professors are also lying to them
almost all of the time, too?

That´ll be the day.

I should have added...
getting hit in the wallet, in the pocketbook, in the personal budget...
so that they can no longer afford supercable or the huge flatscreen
they´ve been wanting... is what makes it all real to THEM.

THEY are the ones...
that O-Bomber has been waiting for to stick it to in order to pay for all this.

"Here´s the bill." Pay up, suckers.
How´s that pie in the sky taste now, sucka?

Don´t lose heart - there are a lot of good young people out there.

My daughter is 23 and has worked since she was 16. She became a conservative the day she received her first pay check and saw how much the government stole from her. She was outraged. She loathes zippy and everything he stands for. Most of her friends do as well.

She has been concerned about her health insurance situation for a couple of years now. She´s still on our plan but is already worried about her future. It´s a shame that she has to suffer from the stupidity of most of her peers.

Maybe it comes from living in one of the most conservative states BUT I see almost all of our young as not being what is preached here.
Advanced studies are a major part of under college age students.
Many teens find some jobs even if it is pulling weeds and mowing lawns.
Older teens are happy to work at the wages offered in fast food operations if they can get hired.
I see more political and financial awareness
College students mostly work all year or as least summers.
These kids are the nations future so why are the older generations knocking them when they are the the ones who have allowed this country to swim in the current cesspools.

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin blasted President Barack Obama for nominating as his new Health and Human Services Secretary the same woman who ordered the shutdown of the war memorials during the so-called government shutdown last year. After accepting Kathleen Sebelius´ resignation Friday, Obama nominated Sylvia Burwell, the former Office of Management and Budget director. This is the same person who sent the email initiating the barricading of the memorials, even as veterans were arriving in D.C. on their "honor flights" to see the memorials that they built. Following the massacre of grammar-school children in Newtown, Conn., in December 2012, high-powered weapons have been used to kill innocent victims in more senseless public incidents. Those killings, however, are only a fragment of the total harm caused by the misuse of firearms. Each year, more than 30,000 people die in the United States in firearm-related incidents. Many of those deaths involve handguns. The adoption of rules that will lessen the number of those incidents should be a matter of primary concern to both federal and state legislators. Legislatures are in a far better position than judges to assess the

The Obama administration said Friday that it would block Iran’s nominee as ambassador to the United Nations from entering the United States, setting up a new confrontation with Tehran just as relations with the Islamic republic appeared to be improving. The decision to bar entry to the diplomat, who was allegedly involved in the 1979 seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, followed intense political pressure on the administration from Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill. But it also marked a rare instance in which Washington has effectively vetoed another country’s preferred choice as envoy to the United Nations. Iran

Distressed homeowners seeking

Struggling homeowners across the country could face significant new tax bills if they receive mortgage relief from their banks, a prospect that threatens to slow the housing recovery and put further strain on distressed borrowers. The collapse of the housing market and plunging home prices left millions of people stuck owing more on their mortgages than their homes were worth. Some have worked with their banks to reduce the loan amount to avoid foreclosure or enable a sale. In 2007, Congress adopted a law that spared those homeowners from being taxed on the amount of the loan that was forgiven. But

On Thursday, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius resigned her position. The New York Times reported the resignation as a punishment for failure: Officials said Ms. Sebelius, 65, made the decision to resign and was not forced out. But the frustration at the White House over her performance had become increasingly clear, as administration aides worried that the crippling problems at HealthCare.gov, the website set up to enroll Americans in insurance exchanges, would result in lasting damage to the president’s legacy. So Sebelius stuck around just long enough to reach the mythical 7 million enrollment number

Contempt and the IRS

The House Oversight Committee has voted to hold former IRS subpotentate Lois Lerner in contempt of Congress, while the House Ways and Means Committee has referred her case to the Justice Department for criminal prosecution. The facts in the case suggest very strongly that Ms. Lerner has earned the contempt of the American people as well as criminal prosecution to the full extent of the law. The question of whether Justice will do justice now rests with the Obama administration, in service to which Ms. Lerner organized and oversaw the repression of nonprofit activists under color of IRS authority. That

Another day, another chronicle of Democratic Party malfeasance. Enjoy: In Congress, Rep. Darrell Issa of California has just leveled an explosive charge against his Democrat counterpart on the House Oversight and Government Reform committee — to wit, that the gentleman from Maryland colluded with the IRS to harass a conservative organization fighting for honest elections: Issa said records obtained last week from the IRS show communications from the office of ranking member Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., about True the Vote, a Texas-based, non-profit conservative group that aims to prevent voter fraud. The communications at one point involved Lois Lerner, the ex-IRS

With the rocky rollout of his health care law in a post-deadline lull, President Obama will move this week to shake up his health care team, accepting the resignation of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and tapping his budget director as a troubleshooting replacement, the White House confirmed Thursday. Mrs. Sebelius, a former Kansas governor who has served as HHS secretary for Mr. Obama’s entire tenure, was the president’s point person as his signature law stumbled out of the blocks in October. Despite calls for her to be fired, Mrs. Sebelius stayed on the job to oversee a

A few weeks ago, with no notice, the U.S. government intercepted Mary Grice’s tax refunds from both the IRS and the state of Maryland. Grice had no idea that Uncle Sam had seized her money until some days later, when she got a letter saying that her refund had gone to satisfy an old debt to the government — a very old debt. When Grice was 4, back in 1960, her father died, leaving her mother with five children to raise. Until the kids turned 18, Sadie Grice got survivor benefits from Social Security to help feed and clothe them.

Two months ago, a petition bearing more than 110,000 signatures was delivered to The Post, demanding a ban on any article questioning global warming. The petition arrived the day before publication of my column, which consisted of precisely that heresy. The column ran as usual. But I was gratified by the show of intolerance because it perfectly illustrated my argument that the left is entering a new phase of ideological agitation — no longer trying to win the debate but stopping debate altogether, banishing from public discourse any and all opposition. The proper word for that attitude is totalitarian. It

Attorney General Eric Holder must be suffering from a sort of amnesia. He is upset at supposed divisiveness and rudeness directed at him when testifying before Congress, and suggests not too subtly that he and President Obama have been accorded inordinately harsh treatment (fill in the blanks why). Aside from the fact that he seemed to have relished the combat with Representative Gohmert in quite unprofessional tones (“you don’t want to go there, buddy, alright?”/ “good luck with your asparagus”), he seems to forget what former attorney general Alberto Gonzales once endured both in the liberal media and before Democrats

If you have not yet heard, Brandeis University has rescinded its offer of an honorary degree to Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the Somali-born activist whose work has focused on the barbaric misogyny rampant in Islamic societies like the one in which she was raised—and whose efforts to call attention to them as a legislator in the Netherlands led to a political crisis there and her eventual flight to the United States. Given that it only takes a Google search to find out everything one would need to know about her, including the controversial aspects of her views, it is disgustingly laughable

Many Americans have been watching with great consternation the ongoing struggle between the Federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the U.S. Marshals against Cliven Bundy and his family. There are no signs of either side relinquishing their position. Many onlookers have been informed that this dispute is over protecting the desert tortoise. But it is nothing of the sort. In fact, the reality of the dispute goes far underneath what is being talked about. The more appropriate source of the dispute is ground water as well as surface water -- this is a war over water. The son of the Nevada rancher locked in an increasingly tense land dispute with the federal government, says their cowboys managed to break a blockade and retrieve around 30 head of cattle. Federal agents swooped on Tuesday after Cliven Bundy, dubbed the last remaining rancher in southern Nevada, refused to remove his herd of 900 cows from land he claims has been in his family since 1870. The heavily-armed federal agents, equipped with eight helicopters and backed-up by snipers, surrounded the Bundy ranch after the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) attained a federal court order to confiscate the family´s herd. A Nevada cattle rancher appears to have won his week-long battle with the federal government over a controversial cattle roundup that had led to the arrest of several protesters. Cliven Bundy went head to head with the Bureau of Land Management over the removal of hundreds of his cattle from federal land, where the government said they were grazing illegally. Bundy claims his herd of roughly 900 cattle have grazed on the land along the riverbed near Bunkerville, 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas, since 1870 and threatened a "range war" against the BLM on the Bundy Ranch website after one of

Who throws a shoe? Honestly! That would be 36-year-old Alison Ernst of Phoenix, Arizona, who was charged Thursday night with disorderly conduct by the Las Vegas Police Department after allegedly throwing a shoe at former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. According to NBC News, who spoke with a Secret Service official, the U.S. Attorney’s office has declined federal prosecution. Ernst was wearing shoes on Thursday night when she attended a speech Clinton was giving in Las Vegas, but apparently brought an extra one specifically to throw at the former secretary of state. The official said the incident appeared to be “premeditated.”

Recently elected Democratic Virginia Gov. President Obama stood Friday with the Rev. STAMFORD, Conn. — Jeb Bush defended his controversial comments about immigration reform, insisting they were nothing new for him and urging “sensitivity to the immigrant experience.” At a Connecticut Republican party dinner Thursday night, the former Republican governor of Florida did not repeat his remarks from last weekend at his father’s presidential library, when he said that people who come to the United States illegally in search of a better life for their children “broke the law, but it’s not a felony. Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) is now accusing the Keystone pipeline of being a cancer risk. Her first point was that the pipeline “will bring 830,000 barrels of dirty tar sands oil into our nation every day.” She then segued to point #2 by asserting that the heavy tar sands oil will put people who live near refineries at risk for cancer: Significantly higher levels of dangerous air pollutants and carcinogens have been documented downwind from tar sands refineries, and in these areas people are suffering higher rates of the types of cancers linked to these toxic chemicals, including leukemia and

Coming clearly through the throbbing of helicopters and the roar of the SUVS of the feds harassing the Cliven Bundy Ranch, patriots there for Bundy should “tell it to the judge”. There is mainstream media-suppressed case history in Nevada the feds are desperately trying to keep under wraps. Chief Judge Robert C. In spite of their 200 armed snipers with boy toys in tow, those Stetson-wearing feds hunkering down on Cliven
