Mysterious China-themed ´city´
proposed in New York´s Catskills

Fox News, by Cristina Corbin

U.S. immigration officials are considering a proposal from Chinese investors to create a multibillion-dollar development in New York’s Catskills called "China City" -- raising concerns among critics about the potential cost to U.S. taxpayers and, according to one analyst, the possibility it could be a "stalking horse" for the Beijing government. A spokesman from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services told FoxNews.com that the proposal for Thompson, N.Y., has not been approved but is under consideration. The mysterious proposed development appears to be a step beyond the types of ethnic enclaves

Comments:
China has reportedly purchased 5% of all land in Ukraine. Just saying. (But think of the choice of restaurants!)

IIRC, the Ukraine land is for growing grain crops. Not that I´m giving the ChiComs any benefit of any doubt, however. I do not favor this proposal.

Good grief...read the article. This would be a Chinese colony with official representation from every province, special privileges, etc.

Read it!

Chinese may built on the "wetlands" in the Catskills. Americans may not build on any "wetlands" anywhere in the country. In fact, they invent "wetlands" just to stop growth in America. Where is the dictatorial/tyrannnical EPA when you need them?

Where are the stasi from the Interior Dept. and Sally Jewell who cannot want to confiscate more land from the people? No problem with providing land for the Chinese to build a China-themed "city" on American soil? The Marxists in this regime have turned everything in the country upside down.

Once the Chinese payoff the right politicians and union bosses the project will be approved pretty quickly.

Back in the days when Japan had all kinds of boom-days money to spend around the world, they were buying up buildings here and constructing resorts in Hawaii. The worriers were told it´s all ok because they cannot take physical structures back home. This ´city" looks more ominous. I don´t like it.

Yo...yo...What´s the matter with having anew Xmas day destination for our non-Christian friends? Instead of going out for Chinese food on Christmas they can go to Chinese Village for an over night stay. CooCooMo will never stop this development.

So, is Biden in China to discuss that new security zone in the East China Sea, or is that a red herring and a cover for negotiating the colonization of America? Perhaps we could sell them Detroit, and ship Detroit´s artwork to New York. It´s going to end up there anyway.

This is bizarre. Sounds like a Trojan Horse to me. If it is bad policy for this country, our government will embrace it, you can count on that. I don´t like the idea of any country coming to here to set up a "city". Go to Disney World and visit Epcot if you want to "experience" another country. I have never been opponent of a country buying our land especially when they have plenty of their own.

The Obamas have to live somewhere once the tyrant is out of office. A mock up of a Red China village would be well suited for the Squirrel Pawed Communist Sissy in Chief.
Biden might be in China now to purchase Chinese curtain material, flooring and rugs.
This is one of those ´look Muslims over there´ moments while the Chinese are the real threat.

Why would the Chinese be allowed to build on wetlands? No American can, and woe to him who kills a frog or lets run-off into a creek.

I´d love to know what Cuomo will do about this; I´d also love to know what Schumer and Gillibrand (who´s an upstater) think. Someone should ask them, on the record.

I know the area having been not too far away (near New Paltz) for some years. The town of Thompson in Sullivan County incorporates about 10 better known villages such as Monticello (raceway and slot casino) and Kiamesha Lake. It´s a big (87 sq. miles) Catskill area off Route 17 and not far from the Thruway and I-84 that had its best days back in the 1940s and 50s with the big destination resorts. Recently there´s been an influx of second-homing or ´creative´ New Yorkers (read, left-wing) because it´s cheap, pretty and nearby. There´s also the Woodstock backwash (nearby). That being said, ordinary folks up there are economically hard hit (median income is well below the state average), dependent on state jobs and now the casino.

Cooomo has an election coming up and needs to point to some job growth, and this is a very visible area. Do you think he cares about national security issues?

Another interesting thing is that China is flooding universities with specially prepped students (great SATs and essays, reportedly purchased at high prices, but when they get here their English is minimal and they struggle)--check out places like NYU. I have a load of them in my apt. building. Where are they going?

I don´t know about this idea. Won´t the crying female babies screaming in the China City dump and the male babies who have deformities and who are left in street side boxes bother anyone nearby.

It probably wouldn´t be long before China City claims Long Island as its own and declares it a no fly over zone.

Why doesn´t Immigration do their job and guard our borders instead of letting Communists buy the USA, and why is it their decision. Cripes, Los Angeles is already Mexico City North.

$500,000 as an individual stake? Who gets it and why would American taxpayers be on the hook for 20% of it?

A haven for rich Chinese who don´t want to live among their own man-made problems who want to recoup China´s portion of money "lent" to our treasury? Why would immigration allow this? Why do they have such power? A TSA wannabe?

God help us!

Is Mitt Romney getting the band back together? The 2012 Republican presidential nominee has invited his debate prep advisers and senior campaign aides to his mountaintop chalet in Park City, Utah, for a weekend of skiing later this month, according to two people close to Romney. The reunion of Romney´s political brain trust comes amid a burst of positive buzz about the former Massachusetts governor -- from favorable reviews of "MITT," the Netflix documentary about his campaigns, to chatter among some powerful GOP donors about another Romney presidential campaign in 2016.

The 300,000-member union that was the first to endorse then-Senator Barack Obama has released a devastating Obamacare report that says Obama´s controversial healthcare program will slash worker wages by up to $5 an hour, reduce worker hours, and exacerbate income inequality. The report by Unite Here--a North American labor union that represents workers in the hotel, gaming, food service, manufacturing, textile, distribution, laundry, and airport industries--is titled: "The Irony of ObamaCare: Making Inequality Worse." "Ironically, the Administration´s own signature healthcare victory poses one of the most immediate challenges to redressing inequality," states the 12-page report. "We take seriously the promise

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md.—Rand Paul handily won the presidential straw poll at the Conservative Political Action Conference Saturday, one gauge of the Republican base’s mood less than two years before the 2016 primary season kicks off. The Kentucky senator received 31 percent, far ahead of second place Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who received 11 percent. Neurosurgeon Ben Carson finished third with 9 percent, ahead of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who received 8 percent. The announcement came at the end of the group’s annual three-day confab. Organizers said that 2,459 attendees voted on computer kiosks.

Cook made his comments after being confronted by a free-market activist who pressed him on putting the environment ahead of profitable investments. “If you want me to do things only for [return on investment] reasons,

The most dangerous parts of a flight are takeoff and landing. Rarely do incidents happen when a plane is cruising seven miles above the earth. So the disappearance of a Malaysia Airlines jet well into its flight Saturday morning over the South China Sea has led aviation experts to assume that whatever happened was quick and left the pilots no time to place a distress call. (Snip) The problem had to be big enough, he said, to stop the plane´s transponder from broadcasting its location, although the transponder can be purposely shut off from the cockpit.

Attkisson, who has been with CBS News for two decades, had grown frustrated with what she saw as the network´s liberal bias, an outsized influence by the network´s corporate partners and a lack of dedication to investigative reporting, several sources said. She increasingly felt like her work was no longer supported and that it was a struggle to get her reporting on air.
