IRS Needs Changes to Avoid
Health Law Fraud, Audit Says

Bloomberg News, by Richard Rubin

The U.S. Internal Revenue Service needs to make changes to prevent fraud and improve security in systems it is building to deliver health insurance subsidies, according to an audit by the tax agency’s inspector general. The audit, released today by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, finds that the IRS successfully completed development and testing for the systems that compute the subsidies under the Affordable Care Act. The audit found that “critical” pieces in security controls failed during testing and anti-fraud programs are still being developed. “The IRS’s existing fraud detection system may not be capable of identifying ACA refund

Some how I doubt Obama will be touting security fraud as one of the "benefits" of Obamacare. He has stage stooges lined up until Christmas who´s lives have changed for the better with free healthcare.Hard to believe they can find this many success stories in such a short amount of time since the mis-launch.

Flashback this morning to the brouhaha and eventual construction of the New Orleans Superdome. Before bonds were voted on to pay for it (1966), the Superdome was promoted as costing a reasonable $19 million. By the time it was finished and ready to roll (1975), the price tag had soared to $165 million.

Sure, there were construction delays, inflation and other "glitches," but there were also canny little methods of getting the building underway and then saying, "Oops! We remembered to put elevator shafts in the budget but we forgot to include the elevators." Another oopsie was VIP suites--but no carpets on the concrete floors. Well, they had to find the money for these "extras," had to be done to get the thing finished.

Obamacare is being sold in the same way. Oops, we forgot the ID security. Well, just find the money, has to be done. Oops, we forgot the IRS changes needed. Well, just find the money. . . .

What the IRS needs is first to throw the people who directed politically motivated audits in Jail for 5 years or more: upper management and next level down!

After that we can start talking about ways to make sure the IRS does not repeat that behavior.

Only after that can the IRS start talking about changes needed to avoid health law fraud.

After a disastrous presidential campaign in 2012, can Texas Governor Rick Perry mount a credible bid for the White House in 2016? Texas Governor Rick Perry is currently on a media tour touting the theme that America is a great place for second chances, specifically second chances for Texas governors with national ambitions. Perry is trying to erase the memory of his disastrous 2012 GOP presidential campaign which included “brain-farts” and “oops” debate moments with his folksy, charming, and uniquely American manner. Curious about Perry’s comeback strategy, I asked Texan and GOP presidential media guru, Mark McKinnon and he said,

Oral arguments at the Supreme Court on Tuesday in the Conestoga Wood Specialties and Hobby Lobby case showed bureaucrats and special interest groups led by the abortion lobby are willing to coerce you to participate in anything they say is a “right,” especially abortion. The government´s view is so extreme that Justice Anthony Kennedy was inspired to ask whether the government´s theory means a business “could be forced in principle to pay for abortions,” and that families in business “just don´t have any standing to vindicate [their] religious rights.” “You’re right,” declared U.S. Solicitor General Donald Verrilli. While we’ll never know exactly how the phone call went, if you read how the Obama administration described the conversation between Putin and Obama, and how the Russians described it, you’d think they were two completely different phone calls. Here’s the readout from the Obama admin: President Obama underscored to President Putin that the United States continues to support a diplomatic path in close consultation with the Government of Ukraine and in support of the Ukrainian people with the aim of de-escalation of the crisis. President Obama made clear that this remains possible only if Russia pulls back its troops and does

Fast cars, luxury yachts, international five-star resorts, top-shelf liquor and fine china from Bloomingdale’s — this sounds like a rap song, but this is the life of some members of Congress. For example, Rep. Rob Andrews (D-NJ) was exposed in a 60 Minutes investigation for spending leadership PAC money on the items listed above. And, my guess: he isn’t alone. We, the taxpayers, shouldn’t accept this behavior; we must fight it. I will do my part in ending this corruption by championing the following reforms when elected to Congress: Ban immediate family members from registering as lobbyists. Melowese Richardson is the poster girl for vote fraud. The Ohio poll worker was sentenced last July to five years in prison after being convicted of voting twice in the 2012 election and voting three times — in 2008, 2011 and 2012 — in the name of her sister, in a coma since 2003, according to USA Today. This might be below Chicago graveyard standards, but it’s still impressive. Ms. Richardson has become a heroine to the left, which is working with its legal arm — the U.S. Justice Department — to kill voter photo-ID laws in order to ensure that creative

The Spartans needed only 300 men to hold off tens of thousands of Persians and their allies at Thermopylae. To chitchat with his fellow democratic leaders of the G-7 this week in Europe, Barack Obama required 900, including a small air force and private army. Given how very little is accomplished at any of these diplomatic gatherings (and in particular this one, which came up with a most mealy-mouthed denunciation of Russia’s invasion of Crimea), the fact that our still-global celebrity president feels the need for an entourage befitting an Ottoman Sultan is a perfect example of government decadence in

At least, that is the opinion of the solicitor general of the United States, Donald Verrilli. He’s arguing the case for the Obama administration. And the claim is that for-profit corporations such as Hobby Lobby have no right to make free-exercise claims under the First Amendment. Justice Samuel Alito raised the issue of kosher and halal slaughterhouses during the oral arguments. It hasn’t generated much press attention, but it made for a fascinating exchange.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc this week sued Visa Inc for $5 billion, accusing the credit and debit card network of excessively high card swipe fees, several months after the retailer opted out of a class action settlement between merchants and Visa and MasterCard Inc. Visa declined to comment on the suit, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Arkansas, where Wal-Mart is headquartered. Visa and other card networks charge retailers fees, called swipe fees or interchange fees, each time a shopper uses a debit or credit card to pay. In December, a federal judge in Brooklyn,

As part of its plan to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, the Obama administration is targeting the dairy industry to reduce methane emissions in their operations. This comes despite falling methane emission levels across the economy since 1990. The White House has proposed cutting methane emissions from the dairy industry by 25 percent by 2020. Although U.S. agriculture only accounts for about 9 percent of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, it makes up a sizeable portion of methane emissions — which is a very potent greenhouse gas. Some of these methane emissions come from
