White House Furor
Wall Street Journal, by James Taranto

Original Article

There´s a furor at the White House, and they did NOT SEE it coming. Also, Republicans came under attack over the weekend for a well-intended but impolitic tweet observing the 58th anniversary of Rosa Parks´s arrest for defying segregation on a Montgomery, Ala., municipal bus. "Today we remember Rosa Parks´ bold stand and her role in ending racism," read the tweet from the Republican National Committee´s institutional account. "Of course, there´s nothing controversial about celebrating a woman today who played a big role in the American civil-rights movement," writes National Journal´s Matt Berman. "What is bothering some people today, though, is the

Conservatives can´t even say the word RACISM without inviting the furor of the progressives. I guess if we even hint that racism might be less a problem than 58 years ago, a whole bunch of race promoting, poverty pimps might be unemployed. (Wonderful thought!)

That last is a direct quote from JC Watts, a wonderful, black conservative from Oklahoma and a gentlemlen for whom I would proudly vote.

Instead of "ending racism" they should have said "fighting racism in the Democrat-led, Jim Crow South".

Some people do not get the subtleties of the English language. Most of us understand that racism has not ended and that is not what the writer meant. Most of us get it but some don´t, probably intentional. They scrutinize for the slightest flaw, the better to point and criticize in the loudest voice possible so as to distract from their own failings. They have a willingly gullible audience and an education system and mass media who gleefully fan the perception and so the efforts are usually well worth the deception.

Rosa Parks worked her magic because she was courageous and wouldn´t take any crap from anyone...Democrats at the time and even today want to keep Blacks on the Plantation.

So how is it racist to talk about facts?

#6 - Because "racism" pays and pays well. "Racism" wins arguments against Milquetoast, Over-Educated, Dumbed-Down, White Guilt-Ridden, Politically Correct, Celebrity-Obsessed, Kumbaya-Singing, Smarter & Smarmier-Than-Thee Liberals. You will always know when you are winning an argument with one because they will try to shut you up by screaming "Racism" rather than discussing the issues logically. It is not racist, it is simply the path of least resistance for them when they don´t have a leg to stand on.

Climate Forecast: Muting the Alarm

The United Nations´ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change will shortly publish the second part of its latest report, on the likely impact of climate change. Government representatives are meeting with scientists in Japan to sex up—sorry, rewrite—a summary of the scientists´ accounts of storms, droughts and diseases to come. But the actual report, known as AR5-WGII, is less frightening than its predecessor seven years ago. The 2007 report was riddled with errors about Himalayan glaciers, the Amazon rain forest, African agriculture, water shortages and other matters, all of which erred in the direction of alarm. This led to a critical appraisal

You may have noticed that our friends on the left have begun to refer to the Koch brothers and other rich conservatives as "oligarchs." Like calling evangelicals "jihadists" and the tea party "racist," this comparison to the billionaires in Vladimir Putin´s circle is meant to stigmatize and marginalize these men politically and socially. This latest Saul Alinsky tactic got us thinking about who really qualifies as an American oligarch. If the definition is someone who becomes rich by association with government power and policies, and then assists those in power, the Kochs would barely make the list. Their companies are usually

BEIJING - A Malaysian team have told relatives of Chinese passengers on board the missing Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH370 that there was sealed evidence that cannot be made public, as they came under fire from the angry relatives at a briefing on Wednesday. The sealed evidence included air traffic control radio transcript, radar data and airport security recordings. The briefing at the Metropark Lido Hotel in Beijing focused on UK satellite analysis which led Malaysia to conclude that flight MH370 ended in south Indian Ocean, off Perth. The Chinese relatives were told that a five-member high-level team from Malaysia plans to brief

Sen. Mitch McConnell’s (R-Ky.) primary challenger, businessman Matt Bevin, is working to make sure McConnell is forever linked with the wrong team in the state’s bitter basketball rivalry with Duke University. Bevin is debuting a new ad during Friday’s Kentucky versus Louisville basketball game that features a cutout of the Senate minority leader bedecked in a blue Duke jersey. It’s a reference to a McConnell campaign video launched earlier this week that mistakenly featured a shot of Duke’s 2010 championship team celebrating their win — a grave error in the Bluegrass State, where Duke has a longstanding rivalry with the University of

The California Department of Motor Vehicles is setting up new facilities to process driver’s license applications for illegal immigrants alone. Last year, Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law a bill, AB 60, which will allow illegal immigrants to obtain the documents beginning Jan. 1, 2015. The bill was signed along with a number of others laws seen as favorable to undocumented immigrants. As part of the driver’s license application process, immigrants will have to acknowledge that they are undocumented. But AB 60 protects applicants from criminal prosecution. The measure will provide an avenue for the state’s three to four million undocumented immigrants to obtain

Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld has said that ´a trained ape´ could do a better job managing American interests in Afghanistan than President Obama. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) said the fault of struggling to sign up on the Obamacare exchanges didn’t lie with the faulty website, but with the people who weren’t “educated on how to use the Internet.” Explaining the reasoning behind the latest Obamacare delay, Reid said too many people just didn’t know to use their computer properly and needed more time. Apparently, it had nothing to do with the well-documented failings of the website that have embarrassed the White House for months. “We have hundreds of thousands of people who tried to sign up who didn’t get through,” he said.
