Democrats can´t hide from
Obamacare´s middle-class pinch

Washington Examiner, by David Freddoso

“Conservatives are operating on the assumption that [Obamacare is] an irredeemable disaster that they can ride all the way to 2016,” New York Times columnist Paul Krugman wrote on his blog last week, “but the facts on the ground are getting better by the day.” He went on: “Obamacare will turn into a Benghazi-type affair where Republicans are screaming about a scandal nobody else cares about.”

Economists call it the Red Queen Effect.

In Alice in Wonderland - the Red Queen ran on a roller. She kept running harder and harder just to stay in the same spot.

Krugman is a loathsome, Kool aid drinking slug. Why should he or 0bama, or the rest of the 1% liberals, give a damn about the American middle class.

Paul Krugman is a bloody disgrace to humanity. There is more stupidity locked up in his over educated brain than common sense.

Benghazi was and is a crime. The day will come Mr. Krugman.

Sorry, Krugman, we care about the Benghazi scandal. We will not forget those who died serving our country in a hostile land. Bet neither Obama nor Hillary would set foot near Benghazi when it was so insecure. You are a sorry good-for-nothing liberal who doesn´t care about America. Too bad. This is where you made your millions.

Agreed that Krugman is an over-educated buffoon, however is is spot on with this:

“Obamacare will turn into a Benghazi-type affair where Republicans are screaming about a scandal nobody else cares about.”

We live in a 15 second attention span world. The droolers and mouth breathers don´t know Benghazi from the Bengals. That some B List actor dying in a car crash captures more attention that any scandal in the O administration is telling.

Face it, other than us here, America just doesn´t care.

The difference between Obamacare and the many other Obama administration scandals is that it affects millions of people in a very personal way.

My experience with Democrats is that many of them are good people who live in the land of "rainbows and unicorns." They are incredibly naive and believe that their side are the ones that do good, while the Republicans are evil people who want to starve children and push old people off of cliffs.

The reason they´re able to live in this world is that many of them are either wealthy or comfortably middle class, or poor students who are living off their parents. They believed that when Obama said they could keep their insurance the meant it, so they weren´t too concerned and could continue to feel good voting for Democrats.

Now, the chickens have come home to roost. Many of these same people are being hit hard by the rising costs of insurance under Obamacare, and many I know are in a panic because they´ve received cancellation notices. None of them are happy with Democrats right now, and the spin that usually pacifies them isn´t working. It´s easy to believe spin when it isn´t affecting you directly. There are two reactions I´m seeing first hand here in the Bay Area. One is total denial, the other is a deep seated feeling of betrayal. The ones in denial are facing real truths on a daily basis. When the employer mandate kicks in, it will tip all but the most hardcore leftists against Obama.

Of course, we will still have to deal with those who will vote Democrat to keep the freebies coming, but it wouldn´t take that many dissatisfied Dems to make a difference in 2014.

I tend to agree, #5, but I am also an optimist (perhaps foolishly). I thing that sometime in the next three years something devastating will be revealed about Obama. Something like unassailable proof that he was born in Kenya.

One of the reasons his college records are sealed may not be because of bad grades although they were probably mediocre at best. Maybe he is listed as an exchange student or maybe a member of the young communists of Harvard. There is a reason the records are sealed and it´s bound to have something very unpleasant from Obama and the Dems´ perspective.

Democrats urged: ´Don´t defend´ Obamacare

One of the nation´s leading Democratic pollsters and strategists is urging embattled House and Senate incumbents to abandon their defense of Obamacare and instead pledge to “fix it.” Celinda Lake, whose firm Lake Research Partners provided the Democratic analysis of the new George Washington University Battleground Poll released Tuesday morning, summed up her advice to Democrats when it comes to Obamacare: “Don´t defend it.” In unveiling the poll, she said that the new Democratic strategy should be for candidates to promise to fix the troubled system while pledging to help keep Americans out of the claws of greedy insurance firms.

Job security declining for people in unions

Economist Allison Schrager points out a little-noticed shift in the workforce that explains part of the membership problem Big Labor is facing: Union members are now experiencing declining job security. This is notable because job security is a key benefit to joining a union in the first place. Unions are supposed to pressure companies to preserve positions, even in hard times. But even union-dominated industries have seen mass layoffs in recent decades. Also, many of the other benefits that unions provide, like pensions, are only available to people who remain at their jobs for set periods.

There is a maxim that one person´s freedom ends at another person´s nose. That´s not quite how it works in the academic world when the swinger is the liberal powers-that-be and the swingee is a conservative professor. The Alliance Defending Freedom and the American Center for Law and Justice won a significant victory in a North Carolina court this week for restoring the maxim´s equal application on campus.

It would be ironic if Hillary Clinton had a second presidential campaign torpedoed because of another politician´s foreign policy. People don´t much remember it now, but before Hope ´n´ Change Mania swept the country, Sen. Barack Obama shot to the lead in Iowa based almost entirely on drawing contrasts with Sen. Hillary Clinton concerning Iraq. Go re-read the speech he gave at Iowa´s Jefferson-Jackson dinner in Des Moines, shortly before he took off in the polls in November of 2007. With New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie stalled by the “Bridgegate” affair, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has become the establishment´s candidate and top pick to win the 2016 GOP presidential nomination, according to a new analysis of the race. “We now consider Bush the leader of the field if he decides to run,” said the influential “Crystal Ball” from the University of Virginia´s Center for Politics. “In recent months, we’ve noticed an unmistakable and widespread desire among some of the Republicans we talk to, particularly ones who would be classified as members of the establishment on and off Capitol Hill, for a third Bush nominee in less than three decades.

Nuclear option fallout

Washington Examiner, by Susan Crabtree    Original Article

When Senate Democrats executed the so-called nuclear option last year and changed their chamber´s rules for votes on President Obama´s nominees, administration officials breathed a sigh of relief. As long as the nominees were qualified, they thought Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., could push them through a deeply divided Senate with a simple majority, not the 60-vote threshold previously required to end debate and proceed to a final up-or-down vote. The Senate Democratic caucus has 55 members so there appeared to be little Republicans could do to prevent the chamber from rubber-stamping Obama´s picks.

It is reminiscent of the quandary faced by General Maurice Gamelin on the evening of May 15, 1940. Suddenly he realized that German panzer troops had broken through the supposedly impassable Ardennes. French troops to the north were cut off and rendered useless, troops to the south were falling back in disarray on all sides and no reserves were available between the front and Paris. “Yes,” he told the prime minister, “it means the destruction of the French Army.” Now, analogies between military history and politics are never exact, and no one in American politics remotely resembles the Nazis.

Americans buying health insurance outside the new Obamacare exchanges are being forced to swallow premiums up to 56 percent higher than before the health law took effect because insurers have jumped the cost to cover all the added features of the new Affordable Care Act. According to a cost report from eHealthInsurance, a nationwide online private insurance exchange, families are paying an average of $663 a month and singles $274 a month, far more than before Obamacare kicked in. What´s more, to save money, most buyers are choosing the lowest level of coverage, the so-called "bronze" plans.

Embedded in the returns for last Tuesday´s primary election in Texas is an interesting lesson on the difficulty of holding even a minority party´s coalition together. State Sen. Wendy Davis achieved national renown for filibustering a bill prohibiting abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy (a point at which many babies are viable outside the womb). She became a national heroine to many abortion rights supporters and attracted vast sums of out-of-state money, and those Democrats who have been hoping to “paint Texas blue” have seen her as a possible game-changer, even though in polls she runs behind Attorney General Greg

Emails obtained by the Washington Examiner through a Freedom of Information Act request raise new questions about how much the White House knew about Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius´ fundraising for Obamacare and whether she solicited donations from entities she regulates. White House officials have said they did not sign off on calls made by Sebelius to solicit donations from private entities for Enroll America, an outside nonprofit with close White House ties that promotes enrollment in the health law´s insurance exchanges. Officials say they were only generally aware Sebelius would be seeking support from outside groups.

The fight for the Republican Senate nomination in Kansas has turned, in part, into a strange battle between a fourth-generation Kansan and a fifth-generation Kansan over who is more Kansan. The fourth-generation Kansan is Sen. Pat Roberts, born in Topeka in 1936, and his fifth-generation opponent is Dr. Milton Wolf, born in Lyons in 1970. So far, it´s a lopsided affair; the majority of Kansas voters know little about Wolf, who is far behind an opponent familiar after 18 years in the Senate and 16 years in the House.
