Howard Dean: Employers Have No
Right to Make Health Decisions,
But Gov´t Does

Cybercast News Service, by Susan Jones

Original Article

Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean, a liberal Democrat, says decisions about health care should rest with the federal government, not with individual employers who pay for their workers´ health insurance. "So, you know, this is one country," Dean told CNN´s "State of the Union" with Candy Crowley on Sunday. "We all have to live by a set of things that are passed in Washington and agreed to by the court. We´ll see what the court does, but I don´t think a particular employer has a right to decide what kind of health care their employees are going to get. That´s

Medical, dental, vision, retirement, 401k, and pension are all part of the benefits large employers provide. In other words, they are part of the employment bargain. As millions are about to discover, the health portion of these benefits is about to drastically change for the worse, precisely because of government interference. My son is not in need of maternity benefits, drug rehab, suicide counseling, elder hospice, preexisting condition coverage, or benefits for 26-year-old children still "finding themselves," while living in the garage. He therefore opted years ago for a catastrophic policy with a sizable deductible in case he gets hit by a bus. No more. Now he must have a Cadillac policy on a Volkswagen income. The government decided that for him. He is now going to pay the penalty and go without any insurance, as his parents worry every time the Greyhound rumbles down his block.

So great to live in a country where people who know nothing about business spend their waking hours minding ours.

Even an idiot like Howard Dean should know that employers are not making health care decisions. They were making decisions about what healthcare they would pay for. This is a typical appeal to low intellect individuals to mislead.

This sentence encapsulates everything I hate about the Left:

"We all have to live by a set of things that are passed in Washington and agreed to by the court."

Has Howard Dean ever even heard of the Ninth and Tenth Amendments? According to this (mercifully) failed Democratic presidential candidate, everything we do should be controlled by Washington, and our state governments should be entirely subservient to grandees in Washington who purport to know everything better than everyone else.

Howard Dean is the face of today´s Democratic Party: arrogant, ignorant, and always eager to tell everyone else what´s best for us.

Doctor, heal thyself - and leave the rest of us alone.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa joined Megyn Kelly Thursday night to react to the uproar over him cutting off Elijah Cummings‘ mic during a contentious IRS hearing, saying that accusations he was “racist” are just “beneath response.” Issa suggested Cummings’ outburst was a “pre-staged event,” but Kelly asked, “Who cares? Let him have his couple of minutes to rip on you! You’re a big guy, you can take it!” He acknowledged that in hindsight, he might have let Cummings rant, but it’s completely unjustified for any member of Congress to try and get his chairmanship revoked over the incident

So, Lois Lerner still won´t talk about her role in the illegal targeting and harassment by the IRS of conservative and Tea Party groups seeking 501(c)(4) tax exemptions. Lerner appeared for a second time Wednesday before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and claimed her Fifth Amendment right not to incriminate herself. It isn´t hard to figure out why Lerner´s lips are sealed. First, she knows the House of Representatives can cite her for contempt of Congress, but Attorney General Eric Holder would decide whether she is prosecuted on that charge. At a White House event Thursday night to honor America’s musical “Women of Soul,” Mr. Obama was introducing legendary singer Aretha Franklin when he botched the name of her signature song, “Respect.” The president evoked laughter in the East Room when he spelled Miss Franklin’s song, “R-S-P-E-C-T.” To make matters worse, in the song itself, the Queen of Soul belts out the correct spelling. Three pool reporters at the event heard the president misspell the word, and verified it on audio recordings. But the White House’s official transcript of the

The Denver, Colorado-based chain of Mexican fast-food restaurants threatened to take the condiment off the menu because of the rising price of avocados. While the avocado crop is currently fine, scientists at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory are predicting drier temperatures will lead to a 40 per cent drop in California´s avocado crop over the next 32 years. Where Lois Lerner goes, drama follows. On Wednesday, the former IRS officer again invoked the Fifth before the House Oversight Committee. That precipitated a heated exchange between the committee’s Republican chairman, Darrell Issa, and Democratic ranking member Elijah Cummings, who called the hearings “un-American.” And that spat has become the story. No doubt that is exactly what Cummings had in mind. Because it distracts attention from the substance of the hearings — and from the questions raised by e-mails and public remarks Lois Lerner wrote, received or made when she was IRS Director of Tax Exempt Organizations.
