As Homeless Line Up for Food
Los Angeles Weighs Restrictions

New York Times, by Adam Nagourney

LOS ANGELES — They began showing up at dusk last week, wandering the streets, slumped in wheelchairs and sitting on sidewalks, paper plates perched on their knees. By 6:30 p.m., more than 100 homeless people had lined up at a barren corner in Hollywood, drawn by free meals handed out from the back of a truck every night by volunteers. But these days, 27 years after the Greater West Hollywood Food Coalition began feeding people in a county that has one of the worst homeless problems in the nation, the charity is under fire, a flashpoint in the national debate

Ahhhhhh. The compassion of the Communist Left. You could not point out how hypocritical this is by writing it as fiction and making anyone buy it. And how ironic that a Hollywood actor is identified as one of the Communists who is squawking the loudest.

I´m glad to see Seattle, one of the most Leftist cities on earth, identified as a city that does not allow the homeless be be fed by volunteers unless the feeding takes place where it can not bother the Rich Communists who people that Leftist hell-hole.

I would say that old warehouses and factories along the Delaware River in Philly would make good shelters, but they are being turned into condos for the yuppies and casinos as fast as they can be fixed up. I´m sure the same is true for most cities. Reminds me of the scene in History of the World Part 1 where the Roman senate is asked if they want to build finer villas or help the poor. The response was "f the poor."

Yes, #1, that message of NIMBY by "Compassionate Liberalism" came through very clearly in this article. Poor celebrity actor Alexander Polinsky (?) doesn´t want to see the very people created by the liberal policies he and his friends preach in the public square to the rest of us. His public square, however, is private and off limits to the problem.

No mention that Obamanomics is creating a growing and more assertive underclass. I´ve long thought that homeless shelters and Sect. 8 housing should be located in neighborhoods who vote most heavily for liberals Dems.

Instead of the rich liberal Hollywood elite giving millions of dollars to Obama every time he shows up in California, what they should do is use that money to build a big homeless shelter where all those homeless people, many with mental disorders, can stay and be fed instead of them sleeping rough on the streets or on private property. If they did that they might get a visit from Pope Frances and be a lot better off then listening to another Obama snow job.

Many are homeless because they cannot find full time jobs or mentally ill. Some because they like it and enjoy the handouts. One I know was given thousands of dollars by relatives and refused to get an apartment because they enjoyed drugs and sympathy more. They are buying steak and lobster with their EBT cards and live in tents with a compressor providing electric.
Yesterday what I witnessed was more than entitlement; it was greed. While the Christian based organization ran out of food baskets, this group ran from one church and non profit to another and bragged about getting two turkeys and going to pick up more. The director of a nonprofit drove them because she thinks her minority group is owed all they can get. They should have been in the system as already receiving food.
While most dislike food assistance cards, isn´t it better to say You have an EBT card, make it work ?
Couric has a program today about food giveaways. Shouldn´t someone ask Why do you keep having kids you can´t feed ? Why are you overweight ? Then again, Katie is making millions, how much did she donate personally ?
Give your donations to someone you know in your neighborhood like the elderly and unemployed. I am a generous person, but what I see up close and personal is sickening.

Shakedown: A federal judge has ruled that a $9.5 billion judgment against Chevron in Ecuador was won through fraud. It´s a victory for Chevron, but at a cost of millions. So why isn´t someone in this environmental predator racket in jail? After more than a decade of battling against charges it created a "rainforest Chernobyl" in an Ecuadorean village called Lago Agrio, it must have come as a relief to the oil giant to hear the words of truth ring out from the bench of a tough Manhattan judge, Lewis Kaplan. Now one of the lawyers who helped to promote that campaign, Debo Adegbile, has been nominated to lead the Justice Department´s Civil Rights Division. He didn´t need to dig deep to prove it: His evidence was as abundant as Cuba´s shortages. With much of the foreign policy establishment either silent or focused elsewhere, and useful idiots in the Venezuelan regime spewing mendacious talking points in the media, it´s easy for truth to get lost in the maelstrom submerging Venezuela, a nation just 1,200 miles from Key West. At the southernmost point of Central Park, on a small strip of sidewalk abutting 59th Street, hundreds of Venezuelans swarmed a statue of Simon Bolivar, the Caracas-born liberator of South America and a figure now most commonly associated with the bolivarian revolution of Hugo Chavez and his rechristened Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. But it’s an association that when mentioned in this crowd produces furrowed brows and narrowed eyes, quickly followed by a rapid-fire recapitulation of Chavez’s many crimes. The necessary symbolism of the meeting point trumped practicality: the crowd quickly swelled, spreading like an inkblot from the small patch surrounding Bolivar

That describes the Federal Communications Commission, an old-line agency founded in the 1930s to regulate a limited supply of television airwaves divided among three networks, which is now gone with the wind.
