President Barack Obama is expected to announce that individuals with insurance policies that are being canceled because they do not meet Obamacare´s standards will be allowed to renew them, sources told NBC News. But that insurance companies will be required to tell people re-enrolling about alternative options and the benefits they will lose. Obama, under pressure from Democrats facing angry calls from people who have lost their health insurance plans, will deliver a statement on Obamacare at the White House at 11:35 am ET, the White House said. CNBC.com will be streaming the event live.

What happens if the Medical Insurance companies decide that what Obama says cannot legally be done?? Don´t forget the ACA (Obamacare) is still the law of the land.

How? The LAW says Obamacare goes into effect on Jan 1, 2014. Is it legal for Obama to just wave his magic wand and make the law that he signed go away? Is that not tantamount to a line item veto? And if he has the power to do that, what is to stop him from waving the wand again and reinstating it when he wants to?

Not withstanding the fact that O is not king, and the law as signed off does not allow for this decree, look at the language from the official.

"benefits they will lose" rather than the "comparative costs and benefits" ??? My guess is that most would gladly give up the free gender swap, and the generous subsidies to others, for a lower bill.

I have to agree with the others on here. There is nothing that allows the president to make changes to the law. He´s acting as though he has that right. His job it to enforce the law, not make it up on the fly. What a jakeleg.

Will this be a temporary arrangement until the end of 2014 to get the dems re-elected or permanent? I thought it was illegal to change a law once it´s signed. My guess is the insurance will refuse due to illegalities. This is very odd since the dems in the senate voted to force the insurance companies to follow the law without changes.

When did the House and the Senate amend the ACA? I don´t remember anything like that, so Our Dear Reader cannot do anything.

If I was the owner of an insurance company, I would come out this afternoon and say: "By law, we have to continue forward, call your Congressman and tell them to amend the ACA"...

FTA ...... "However, those insurance companies will be required to tell people about alternative options and the benefits they will be giving up by keeping older plans."

You mean like maternity benefits for men and 70 year old women? Or geriatric care for 22 year olds? Maybe OBGYN for men?

When I was in the Army we used to refer to something like this as a "Clusterflock", except we didn´t say "flock". I agree with several other posters. Emperor Zippy does not have the authority to void any part or all of a law passed by Congress and signed by himself. A federal judge in Norfolk struck down as unconstitutional Virginia’s ban on same-sex marriage Thursday night, saying the country has “arrived upon another moment in history when We the People becomes more inclusive, and our freedom more perfect.” U.S. District Judge Arenda L. Wright Allen issued a sweeping 41-page opinion that mentioned at length Virginia’s past in denying interracial marriage and quoted Abraham Lincoln. She struck the constitutional amendment Virginia voters approved in 2006 that both bans same-sex marriage and forbids recognition of such unions performed elsewhere. She stayed her decision pending appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for

Suddenly, with two roll-call votes, the messy, multi-issue battles of the 2014 elections have been refocused on two central issues that will put the GOP back in charge of Congress. The budget and debt-limit fights have been set aside for the time being, with the swift votes this week for a debt-limit extension and the earlier passage of a budget to keep the government running for the rest of this year. This means that the midterm election battles for the rest of this year will be turned into a clear referendum on the voters’ two foremost concerns: a weak, jobless

Los Angeles- In case you were wondering, things in California just got a little weird. Okay, maybe not “just.” Let me be more specific: The congressional election in California’s 33rd District, a coastal tract encompassing some of the wealthiest, most liberal quarters of Los Angeles County?—?Bel Air, Santa Monica, and Beverly Hills, to name a few?—?just got a little weird. On January 30, Henry Waxman, the district’s long-serving and notoriously cantankerous representative, surprised everyone by announcing he would retire at the end of this term. For those who didn´t know much about Shirley Temple, her passing this week revealed two surprises. First, that her post-Hollywood career was dominated by public service. She ran (unsuccessfully) for Congress in 1967, served as a representative to the United Nations and was ambassador to Ghana and Czechoslovakia. And second, she was a Republican. She was that rarest of things nowadays: a Hollywood star who admitted to voting for the GOP. Today, Hollywood appears uniformly liberal. But once upon a time, things were different. Senate Democrats facing tough elections this year want the Internal Revenue Service to play a more aggressive role in regulating outside groups expected to spend millions of dollars on their races. In the wake of the IRS targeting scandal, the Democrats are publicly prodding the agency instead of lobbying them directly. They are also careful to say the IRS should treat conservative and liberal groups equally, but they’re concerned about an impending tidal wave of attack ads funded by GOP-allied organizations. Much of the funding for those groups is secret, in contrast to the donations lawmakers collect, which must be

Stephen Garcia´s returning debut? A life-sized shark swimming in a wave that runs the length of his and his girlfriend´s home at 2040 Four Mile Road NE, east of Plainfield Avenue. Its bright red mouth – complete with pointy teeth – is large enough for a human to take a seat inside. The big fish has been turning heads since Garcia sprayed it with a coat of paint earlier this week.
