Obamacare Schadenfreudarama

To paraphrase Oscar Wilde, you’d have to have a heart of stone not to laugh at the unraveling of Obamacare. First, the obligatory caveats. It is no laughing matter that millions of Americans’ lives have been thrown into anxious chaos as they lose their health insurance, their doctors, their money, or all three. Nor is it particularly amusing to think of the incredible waste of time and tax dollars that has gone into Obamacare’s construction. And the still-unfolding violence that this misbegotten legislation will visit on the economy and our liberties is not funny either. This very magazine has been downright

Has anyone come to the realization that the money wasted on Obamacare and many other wasteful things they´ve blown taxpayer dollars on, could have paid for those on Medicaid 10 times over without forcing EVERY American to go on Obamacare? These people who are ruining our country are insane OR they planned this long ago ...in order to systematically take this country down. Isn´t that what the Radical Muslims wanted anyway? Well, it is happening.

Great read, but I wish guys like Goldberg would not even imply that Hurricane Katrina natural disaster was the fault of Bush 43. There was a lot of local mistakes (e.g. density planning) and the Mayor and LA Governor footdragged to the max. Bush would have had to declare Martial Law to move any faster.

Other than that, fantastic read. And I forgot about this one:

"The man [obama] defined sin itself as “being out of alignment with my values.”

Pure blasphemy, and an extremely dangerous frame of mind for the President of the United States.

Great article. This is liberalism on parade to be sure. It´s who they are. What´s most annoying, but rather comical, is the Democrats insistence that Republicans should be as desperate as they are to find a way to fix this. Hello? We want it repealed - even more now than before. They have 100% ownership of this dog and we wouldn´t dream of interfering.

Obama looks at all this chaos as one of his infamous "bumps in the road".One of his problems is rank and file dems aren´t on the same plane as the big left social engineers working behind he scenes. They support the idea of Obama´s plans but don´t connect with the mechanics of how he´s doing it.

Standard liberals were perfectly happy scoring a victory here and there over the years so nobody would be alarmed by them.

Obama´s whole hog approach to liberal checklist items is overwhelming them. Now they can´t run from their Obamacare vote.

Something fishy happened between 2010 and 2012. There was no reason for this country to flip back to dems after the shellacking they took in 2010.This is why people can´t believe that Romney really lost.

Obama planners are thinking on a much larger scale than short term proposals people are used to to. People in this country don´t like stridency from either side and there´s never been a more strident president than Obama.

The things Obama is doing aren´t open to discussion so there´s no point in dems storming the WH to demand Obama do something.

There was a time Israel had support from quite a few dems. Not a single one are speaking out on the emerging Iran deal which will allow nukes at some point.Congress should have to vote to allow the sanctions being lifted but Obama already has behind the scenes.

Superb article and a must read for November.

In approximately 6 weeks, just before 10-15 million Americans have their health policies expire on 12/31, Obama is due to take AF1 to Hawaii for another expensive vacation mostly at our expense. Mooch, the girls and her mother will fly out in AF2 earlier in the day since the Mooch refuses to be on the same plane as Reggie Love, Obama´s traveling companion. This extravagant vacay will occur as we all try to comprehend how we are to pay an additional $400 to $800 per month in 2014 and $1000-$1,200 more per month by 2016 for ObamaCare. Should make for an interesting Christmas holiday.

That "something fishy", #7, was the IRS targeting conservatives for tax exempt status and denying half of the citizens their right to participate in the electoral process. Plus rampant voter fraud. Both are impeachable offenses.

As to the article, I join Jonah with joy in my heart. And I keep thinking of our beloved Aggie57 who once said that Obama´s fall would be like a crystal wine glass dropped on a marble floor. Aggie57, I hope that you´re laughing your butt off up in Heaven!

ps: I spent yesterday with several leftist acquaintances who are sometimes vocal in their disdain for conservatives. Every one of them is over 65. They were quiet to the point of being almost comatose. It took all of my willpower not to brightly inquire, "Hey, how ´bout that Obamacare"?

Funny metaphorarama, but Jonah shouldn´t get too cocky:

And the still-unfolding violence that this misbegotten legislation will visit on the economy and our liberties is not funny either.

That´s the real danger -- the fresh hells comging down the pike at us from this wounded pit bull. He is vindictive and he´s pi$$ed at being dissed for the first time in his life -- and from his own tribe, at that.

So while we´re enjoying the Descent Of The Man here, be assured he is planning something bigger and nastier.

#1 -- It´s not that the money could´ve gone to Medicaid or Medicare or SS Disability or the VA or etc, etc, it´s where it actually went. . .to the family and friends plan of Barack Obama and other influential Democrats. It´s been a blatant cash grab w/ the hopes that the truth would never see the light of day. It´s just like Solyndra and the other green energy boondoggles, except this time the theft is effecting millions of Americans and now, SUDDENLY, they are paying attention. It´s amazing what happens when you feel like YOUR wallet is being picked.

Democrats feel that this is mainly an issue with communication strategy. Once Americans get to see Obamacare in action, they´ll come to love it. To address what is primarily simply a matter of poor salesmanship, the answer is to engage in improved public relations posture. To that end, Democrats are proud to announce that they have taken on PR firm Hubris, Nemesis and Catharsis.

If I was a shyster like Obama, I would focus everyone on website signups. Yes they are dismal but that was expected. Who in their right mind would signup for less coverage at higher rates?

My sinister plan would be to flood the streets with "navigators" to signup the newly defined (per the law) "poor" to get them into the entitlement aspect of Obamacare. Entitlements are rarely rescinded. When Obama (and his press) purposefully avoid talking about something, it´s time to watch the other hand.

On another matter... why would Democrats be panicking? Starting in January 2014, Obamacare will require employers with 50 or more full-time employees (or the combined part-time equivalent) to provide health insurance or pay a tax. The snowball is turning into a avalanche. In January, employer based plans will begin to be canceled.

It is hard to keep a straight face.

Great read but..."If" we get to the other side of this will the Republicans be vocal to repeal Obamacare. The last statement is, "why should Republicans be quick to share it". I think they will with this gaggle of ´bipartisans´ lurking in the halls.
There´s no getting along or bipartisanship in my mind it´s only destroy the leftist communist. But I fear the middle of the roader RINOs will help the left in nibbling at the edges of Obamacare to help save it and them.

Schadenfreude is one of my all-time favorite words. Used it in a post yesterday, in fact. And nothing gives greater pleasure than in watching these arrogant, incompetent, lying backside-orifices get their comeuppance. It´s a shame that millions of Americans had to be harmed so badly in order for millions of eyes to be opened. We told them so, but sometimes that is what it takes. And when the peasants armed with clubs and sickles take down the politicans that caused all the damage, I will laugh, sing and dance at their political funerals.

That´s all well and good, but Obamacare is causing staggering pain outside the administration -- among the good people of our great country. After we smile at their discomfort, let´s get to work to stop ours. Join Ted Cruz in his bid to repeal this mess.

Obama´s best escape hatch right now is to delay the ocare rollout until October next year and double down on ocare as the campaign issue and difference between dems (with a plan) and pubs (no plan - at least that the MSM will let you know about).

Obama will tell us at 11:30 today this decision is ALL based on the website and not mention any of the underlying problems with the law itself.

They will have a year to redefine their lies with the media helping them every step of the way. It will be a repeat of the ´12 election and campaign.

The semantic insanity of referring to this whole mess as the failure of the deceptively used word, "liberalism", when Jonah could define it all as, "socialism", "fascism (straight from the title of his best selling book), "totalitarianism", "authoritarianism", or with a few shots of Jack Daniels to bolster his otherwise good instincts, he could dare to call it Communism ! Why would he base this entire article about medical deception by beginning with the Marxian"s deceptive theft of the word "liberal"? the word that means FREEDOM !
With his unerring style of humor, the least he could do is call it some kind of pathetic commie hat trick".
Why does so talented a writer still use this word as fake ID for collectivism. Please, Jonah, of all good people, come clean !

I´m going to withhold my shouts of joy until I see what the House Republicans do with all of these "fix" plans being initiated in the Senate. We know that some sort of one will pass the Senate in order to provide cover for those Dims that are up for re-election next year. And this is where it hits the fan. Will the House Republicans stand firm and reject said plan and keep the burden on the Dims, or will they shoot themselves in the foot (or head) and pass it, this giving the Dims an out and losing the 2014 elections. Right now, I´d put my money on the last choice. The current crop of establishment Republicans aren´t very bright.

AUSTIN — A Texas judge was expected to seat a grand jury Monday in an investigation into whether Gov. Rick Perry abused his power by vetoing funding for public corruption prosecutors last year. Special State District Judge Bert Richardson was to oversee the impaneling in Austin. The governor’s office didn’t return messages seeking comment, but The Austin-American Statesman and KVUE-TV reported that Perry took the unusual step of hiring a criminal defense attorney to represent him. The attorney, David Botsford, did not return calls from The Associated Press seeking comment. In June, the governor threatened to veto funding approved by the Texas Legislature

When I first started hearing people on the political left describe themselves with some frequency as progressive back in the 1990s, the term did not seem tethered to the epoch-defining, early-20th-century spasm of moral crusading and government centralization that helped give us everything from trust busting to Prohibition to the Federal Reserve. As articulated by champions like Ralph Nader and Molly Ivins, the progressive label was both a way to get out from under the generation-old baggage of liberal-a term Ronald Reagan and others had turned into an epithet-and to differentiate lefties from seemingly apologetic triangulators like Bill Clinton and

For political junkies desperate for clues to the hottest House, Senate and governors’ races around the country, April is the cruelest month. While Illinois and Texas primaries were held last month, the 48 remaining state contests don’t start up again for three weeks. Here’s the good news for those of us hoping to determine whether Democrats or Republicans will be celebrating in the fall: From early May to early September, we’ll have a steady stream of conventions, primaries and runoffs to keep us busy. We’ve already learned a little from the first two contests. On March 4, Texas told us two contradictory

Neurosurgeon Ben Carson says the White House wanted him to apologize for “offending” President Obama after he famously delivered a conservative message at the National Prayer Breakfast last year. Carson, the former director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, recalls the events surrounding his 2013 speech in his new book, One Nation: What We Can All Do To Save America’s Future. The Daily Caller obtained an advance copy of the book, which is set for release May 20. “He did not appear to be hostile or angry,” Carson writes of Obama, “but within a matter of minutes after the conclusion of

Over 80 members of the Brandeis University faculty sent a letter to the school’s president earlier this month, demanding the school withdraw its honorary degree invitation to women’s rights activist and critic of Islam Ayaan Hirsi Ali. Brandeis rescinded the invitation to Hirsi Ali last week, prompting a public backlash from Hirsi Ali’s supporters. In the April 6 letter, faculty members called on Brandeis President Fred Lawrence to drop Hirsi Ali from the ceremony because of comments she has made about her opposition to Islam. “We are writing to urge you to rescind immediately the invitation to Ms. Ayaan Hirsi

He may not have been able to attend the Sochi Olympics, but Vice President Joe Biden is set to return to the world sporting event stage this summer by hanging out at the World Cup, the White House announced today. Biden is very excited. "You know, we have our Super Bowl, we have our World Series, we have the NBA Finals, we have March Madness, but my Lord, it is nothing quite like the World Cup," he said today as he and Secretary of State John Kerry unveiled the World Cup trophy. Kerry, meanwhile, stuck with boring comments like "I can´t think

Obama´s Numbers Worse News For Democrats

Bad as Obama’s poll numbers are, they bode worse for Congressional Democrats. Obama is being buoyed by continued strong support from Democrat voters. The problem for Congressional Democrats is that November’s election outcome will not be determined in Democrat strongholds. Recent Quinnipiac polling data (released April 2, of 1,578 registered voters nationwide, with a MOE of +/-2.5%) showed the president with a deeply negative rating on his handling of the economy: 40% approval and 55% disapproval. In his sixth year in office, and the fifth year after the recession, 74% of respondents still rated the economy as “not so good” to

During her brief but lucrative stint as president of Wal-Mart’s charitable foundation in 2012, Sylvia Matthews Burwell received at least $750,000 in bonuses from an organization that doles out hundreds of millions of dollars in contributions but keeps a tight lid on its own compensation practices, records show. Ms. Burwell spent a little more than a year running Wal-Mart’s foundation before President Obama tapped her to be his budget chief last year — and then last week asked her to take over as health and human services secretary. Her White House biography touts her key private-sector experience as president of the massive

The Supreme Court has made pretty clear that putting your money where your mouth is deserves broad protection as a form of free political speech. The justices are about to consider whether outright lying in a campaign deserves a similar First Amendment shield. The court’s recent decisions easing the flow of generous campaign contributions already shifted the electoral landscape. If the court finds that even the most patently outrageous statements about candidates may not be barred by law, those two decisions combined could expand the rhetorical battlefield of the midterm elections and raise the attack ad volume as never before. On Fox News Sunday, political analyst Brit Hume said that Eric Holder’s claim that his treatment at the hands of Representative Louie Gohmert (R-TX) at a House hearing this week was unprecedented toward an Attorney General, made him a “crybaby,” and that he and President Barack Obama had in fact benefited “enormously” from being the first African Americans in their respective positions. “This strikes me as kinda crybaby stuff from Holder,” Hume said. “My sense about this is both Eric Holder and Barack Obama have benefited politically enormously from the fact that they are African American and the first to

On Saturday, I wrote about the standoff at Bundy Ranch. That post drew a remarkable amount of traffic, even though, as I wrote then, I had not quite decided what to make of the story. Since then, I have continued to study the facts and have drawn some conclusions. Here they are. First, it must be admitted that legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

President Obama inspired a generation of young people to support his historic election in 2008. And in 2012, despite the struggles of his first term, Mr. Obama still managed to win the support of a full 60% of voters age 18-29. But the man who once dreamed of being a transformative leader in the Reagan mold is inspiring few of those young people to follow his lead. "For all the talk about the movement that elected Mr. Obama, the more notable movement of Obama supporters has been away from politics. It appears that few of the young people who voted

A rapid shift to wind and solar power is needed if the world is to avoid catastrophic global warming, the United Nations warns in a crucial report today. Emissions of greenhouse gases need to be cut by up to 70 per cent before 2050 to control climate change, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) says. ‘Large-scale changes in energy systems’ are required, with coal power stations to be switched off and replaced by wind and solar. And the transformation needs to be made in the next 15 years or controlling climate change will become increasingly harder and more expensive. The report was published

Chelsea Clinton says when people ask her these days whether she wants to go into politics, her answer isn’t an automatic “no.” The 34-year-old former first daughter told Fast Company in an interview published Monday, “for so long the answer was just a visceral no. Not because I had made any conscientious, deliberate decision, but since people had been asking for as long as literally I could remember, it was no." Now, the only child of former President Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton explains, "I live in a city and a state and a country where I

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

Funny question in the headline, yes? But since President Obama worries more about the threat of terrorists´ improvised nuclear device going off in a major American city than anything Russia can throw at us, I was wondering if the government had deigned to share with us citizens any tips for, you know, surviving something their own intelligence points to as the likeliest unlikely Black Swan event. Well, no. And yes. No — very few people in Washington, D.C., who work for the government have any idea what they would do if a 10-kiloton nuclear device exploded at the intersection of 16th and K

When President Obama needed a preacher to fulfill the closing prayer duties at the annual White House Easter Prayer Breakfast, he turned to none other than the Episcopal Church’s first openly gay bishop — who said he was as shocked as anyone at the appointment. The Right Rev. Gene Robinson said in a tweet, accompanied by a photo of Mr. Obama behind a podium at the event: “POTUS ‘preaches’ at the Easter prayer breakfast. Then, out of the blue, asks ME to close with prayer. OMG!” Newsmax said he also emphasized that the words he chose to close the breakfast

President Obama pulled a surprise move Monday at the White House’s Easter Prayer Breakfast when he selected Gene Robinson to lead the closing prayer. Robinson is famously known as the first openly gay Episcopal bishop. Talking Points Memo’s Tom Kludt spotted the following tweet from Robinson, who was in attendance: (Tweet) Robinson, 66, became diocesan bishop of New Hampshire in March 2004. A Russian fighter jet made multiple, close-range passes near an American warship in the Black Sea for more than 90 minutes Saturday amid escalating tensions in the region, a U.S. military official said Monday. In the first public account of the incident, the official said the Russian Fencer flew within 1,000 yards of the USS Donald Cook, a Navy destroyer, at about 500 feet above sea level. Ship commanders considered the actions provocative and inconsistent with international agreements, prompting the ship to issue several radio queries and warnings. The fighter appeared to be unarmed and never was in danger of

Some time back, whenever a big racial controversy erupted, I trained myself into the habit of reading about it at FoxNews.com, just for the unbelievable comment threads. Let’s put it this way: If my friends and I went out to a bar and started playing a “let’s write the racist FoxNews.com comment thread” drinking game, our efforts couldn’t begin to approach what I read there.I wasn’t alone. Liberal websites started feasting on these threads. And so, a couple of years ago, Ailes & Co. got wise. Stories about race were, at least in my disheartened experience, closed to comments.
