´I wanted to go in and fix it
myself, but I don´t write code´:
Obama casts himself as
would-be Web handyman

Daily Mail [UK], by David Martosko

President Barack Obama addressed the healthcare.gov website´s chronic dysfunctions Friday by quipping that he would fix it himself, ´but I don´t write code.´ The self-deprecating line came during a speech in New Orleans about shoring up U.S. exports through American port cities. But the moment also jokingly cast the president--perhaps unintentionally--as a hands-on administrator rather than the aloof executive that White House insiders have described in news articles, broadcast interviews and books. [Snip] Obama waited for audience laughter, but it didn´t come. His brief turn to address his calamitous health insurance overhaul included an admission that the Affordable Care Act

He was in New Orleans--and nobody laughed at his "self-deprecating" remark. I can laugh at THAT. New Orleanians are experts at spotting political rubbish, verbal or human.

He made this statement as a sort of, "what can I do?" deflection of blame for the failure of the Obamacare website. He does not understand that, as the President, it is not his job to "get things done." His job is to hire people who can "get things done." It´s as bad as his defense of himself over the IRS targeting his political opponents. There he claimed "I didn´t know." What he doesn´t understand is that it is HIS JOB to know that they were doing that and to put a stop to it.

Obama claims that the government is too big for the President to know when parts of it are acting badly, but then he turns around and wants to make it bigger and make it harder for "bad actors" to be held accountable. The worst part is that he does not even see the contradiction between these two things.

This guy should be passing out his business cards at traffic court in Chicago and telling his clients he can get their DUI´s dropped down to reckless driving. The only way he could have gotten a better gig as a lawyer was if some big firm was trying to fill a diversity quota and needed someone of his demographic. How could so many Americans be taken in, by someone so poorly prepared?

This in a nutshell defines what socialism is and why it will always fail. Best of intentions are always swamped by the reality that big government can´t run a business and can´t protect the individual. All it can do is hurt classes of people.

Obama is right, he does not write code, he just talks in a code that only he understands, that´s why what he does is usually much different then what he says, and as we can see with the Obama Care example is easily misunderstood by the vast majority of people. Of course to Obama that is not his fault!

1. The BBC knows it´s in trouble and is desperate to prove it still has meaning. The BBC did a good job last night, wheeling out its political big gun--David Dimbleby--to moderate in his arch, feline, Flashman-esque way, not showing any noticeable left-wing bias and following up with some integrated coverage from Paxo on BBC Newsnight. But gosh wasn´t the BBC eager to tell us how well it was doing? The BBC stands for everything Farage hates and no doubt cordially loathes Farage. Unfortunately, the way the political debate is changing, the BBC can no longer afford to marginalise its nemesis

An artist from Wales has become the latest face of the ‘NHS refugees’ forced to flee to England to get decent healthcare. Mariana Robinson, 60, has a life-threatening pancreatic condition and needs a biopsy before it can be diagnosed and the correct treatment given. [Snip] The Mail revealed two weeks ago that longer waiting times and poorer access to drugs mean thousands of Welsh patients are now flocking across the border to be treated in English hospitals. The number of Welsh cancer patients doing so has quadrupled from just 3,471 a decade ago to 15,450 last year.

Nigel Farage was tonight accused of being ´dangerous´ after admitting he ´admires´ Russian President Vladimir Putin and defending Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad. Two snap polls showed the Ukip leader easily triumphed in the second live TV debate with Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg, in which he urged voters to join a ´People´s Army´ to topple the political establishment in Brussels. But Mr Farage was forced on to the defensive after claiming Assad did not use chemical weapons against the Syrian people. Mr Clegg condemned Mr Farage as ´dangerous´ and accused him of ´conning´ the British people.

One diner who tried his ´Spam fried rice´ creation topped with seared tuna and pineapple, described it as ´so good´, ´savory´ and a ´little bit [like] oxtail´.

In the nightmare world of George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four, three vast totalitarian states were permanently at war. Big Brother needed outside enemies to rally the masses behind his rule. As ever, real life suggests that Orwell was on to something: authoritarian states do seem more likely to go to war; democracies, by contrast, very rarely fight one another. The country which might have modelled itself on Orwell’s vision, North Korea, duly tells its people that they are permanently on the brink of war. Whenever the tension with South Korea eases, North Korea always turns the temperature back up again. Only

In a statement released Thursday, Mozilla -- which makes the Firefox Web browser -- apologized for not reacting more quickly to the controversy surrounding Eich, who made a 2008 donation supporting California´s plan on gay marriage, The Guardian reports. "We know why people are hurt and angry, and they are right: it´s because we haven´t stayed true to ourselves," said Mozilla executive chairwoman Mitchell Baker in a statement. Last week, Eich attempted to dispel fears on whether he would support equality as the head

Sources on the ground in Benghazi during the 2012 terror attack are pushing back hard on former CIA acting director Mike Morell´s testimony on Capitol Hill, where he defended his role in shaping the administration´s narrative and claimed politics were not involved. As part of Morell´s testimony on Wednesday, the former acting and deputy CIA director acknowledged that he overruled the guidance of the top CIA officer in Libya at the time. That official told Morell the attack was not an "escalation of protests," but Morell said he had to weigh that against analysts who concluded the opposite. He ultimately went

With Chris Christie in deep trouble, Republican poobahs are reportedly looking to Jeb Bush to save their party in 2016. The former two-term governor of Florida speaks fluent Spanish, is a convert to Catholicism, and has high name recognition. Jeb could raise millions of dollars over night by just saying “yes” to running. Despite all this, there are strong reasons Republicans should say no to him. 1. His last name is poison. Let’s face it, if Jeb Bush had the last name of Something Else he would have already run for president in 2008 or 2012. According to a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll registered voters were asked if they would definitely NOT vote for Jeb Bush and 50 percent said they would not.

The human kindling that makes up the flammable Republican base may soon burst into flames, again. Portions of that excitable cohort are looking — some with fawn-like eyes filled with hurt, others with sparks shooting from eyes narrowed like gun slits — askance at other Republicans urging Jeb Bush to seek the 2016 presidential nomination. A candidacy by Florida’s former governor would be desirable. But if Republicans want to avoid intra-party carnage, they should be very careful about doing what The Post recently reported: “Many of the Republican Party’s most powerful insiders and financiers have begun a behind-the-scenes campaign to draft

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is "looking" at banning the sale of tobacco at military installations. According to one military publication, Hagel appears to support it. "As the Navy considers banning tobacco sales on all bases and ships, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel gave a strong endorsement of the review Monday, and suggested that he would be in favor of a ban," reports Stars and Stripes. “I don’t know if there’s anybody in America who still thinks that tobacco is good for you,” Stars and Stripes quotes Hagel as saying. “We don’t allow smoking in any of our government buildings. Restaurants, states, [and]

Sarah Palin continues to act in ways that confirm some of the more negative things said about her. For example, she’s taken to Facebook to attack the most recent budget plan by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan.(Snip)Whatever differences Ms. Palin may have with the Ryan plan–and perhaps she’ll take the time to offer an actual critique of if rather than a Facebook entry with lots of upper case words–it’s hardly a joke. But what might elicit a roll of the eyes is comparing Ms. Palin’s views now versus what they were nearly four years ago. Consider this: On December

Senate majority leader Harry Reid has a whole page on his official Senate.gov website devoted to revealing "THE FACTS ABOUT THE KOCH BROTHERS." One of the alleged facts promoted on Reid´s website is that the Kochs do not pay any corporate taxes: “They are known for bankrolling conservative, Libertarian and Tea Party causes and became poster boys for corporate tax reform last year when an Obama Administration official suggested Koch is organized as an S Corp. and so pays no corporate level taxes.” The claim that the Koch brothers don´t pay corporate income taxes was first made by former White House official
