Bill de Blasio elected
mayor of New York

New York Post, by Yoav Gonen*

Original Article

Voters elected Bill de Blasio New York’s 109th mayor Tuesday in one of the most sweeping victories in history — returning City Hall to Democratic control for the first time in 20 years. De Blasio, who at 6-foot-5 will become the city’s tallest leader ever, breezed in after waves of voters embraced his progressive vision and vows to move the city in a new direction. And according to the mayor-in-waiting, those changes could come right out of the gate. “We will have things to say tomorrow,” de Blasio said after casting a ballot with his family near their Park Slope,

Comments:
And you thought Bloomberg was bad. I shudder to think what he will do to the financial district of New York that could hurt all of us.

Remember the chilling video (in 2008) of the McCain supporters who walked through a trendy NYC neighborhood? They were jeered and insulted. I´ll never forget how supposedly civilized, "tolerant" people were so close minded. And McCain!!!! was too conservative for them. These same NYC voters aren´t stupid, they know full well what DeBlasio is, and they are cool with it. Because birth control, I guess. Even though I just said the voters aren´t stupid, they are brainwashed, and it shows. Sorry to the LDot crew.

Having lived through the Dinkins mayoral debacle, when corruption, cronyism, and incompetence reigned supreme, when crime soared even while the NYPD was being dismantled, when union thuggery and sweetheart city union contracts were widespread, when Dinkins surrounded himself with totally incompetent and generally corrupt black appointees who fostered racial disharmony, when white people were treated with scorn and disdain even while their tax base paid all the bills....
And knowing that DiBlasio was a key part of that Dinkins administration and is a dyed-in-the-wool communist...
I would have to say "Farewell, NYC. The moochers, parasites, unionistas, thugs have taken you over."

New Yorkers have just cut their own throat. Welcome to the new Caracas. If you thought Bloomberg was a nanny, wait till you get a load of Bill and his wife, who has enjoyed one sinecure job after another. And big charity donors are already fleeing.

Joe Lhota ran a wretched campaign. I wish Catsimatides had won-as repellent as he was, he would have run hard. But there is no denying that NY has become, from affluent yuppies in Brooklyn to Harlem, hard left. Matrons will be pistol-whipped on Park Avenue at noon, those restored brownstones on Park Slope will be burglarized. Dust off those ´no radio´ signs to hang in your parked BMWs. Maybe Staten Island will finally secede.

Unemployment will eventually soar, and it will also affect the suburbs--and Christie´s chance for the presidency, as NJ´s UI is above 11% save for the northern counties.

BTW those lamenting Wall Street--JP Morgan, Goldman et al backed DiBlasio. They will get what they deserve too, eventually. Many hedgies and small VCs have already moved out.

All I see coming from this is more oppressed New York Citiers [and perhaps New York Staters] fleeing to states such as Texas. More´s the pity.

The only ones who will remain are those who are truly trapped by circumstances they can´t control --job, family, etc., and those of the criminal bent who will prey upon those who have to visit the city because of circumstances they can not control.

Detroit is the perfect analogy.

We had lots of fun with Nanny Bloomberg and his Salt and Soda escapades. I don´t think de Blasio is going to be a laughing matter.

New York is a city so close to my heart and I remember the days of Lindsay and Beame. I grew up then and I was hassled and shaken down in the street every single day of my life growing up. So while Bloomberg drove me crazy and I didn´t like him, I knew the difference between him and the looney left who would run the city into the ground. Too many people don´t remember what the city was like 20 years ago but I do. I am really starting to resent liberal voters who give us DeBlasio and Obamacare and both damage my life and it´s all because liberals are too dumb to vote.

The moralizing twit Bloomberg, knowing full well what deBlasio would do to the police, nevertheless refused to endorse Lhota, on the grounds that the outgoing mayor shouldn´t get involved in politics.

Yet the same moralizing hypocrite (who lied about being a Republican, just to get elected) only became mayor because the outgoing mayor got involved in politics and endorsed him.

Now this reptile is going to try and interfere with gun rights all over America, putting himself above the Supreme Court.

U.S. employers added jobs at a solid pace in March in the latest sign that the economy is rebounding from a weak stretch brought on by a harsh winter. The Labor Department says employers added 192,000 jobs, slightly below February´s total of 197,000. Employers also added a combined 37,000 more jobs in February and January than previously estimated. The unemployment rate was unchanged at 6.7 percent. But a half-million Americans started looking for work last month, and most of them found jobs. Immigration reform advocates are fond of citing broad support for their cause. But in fact the coalition behind the Senate Gang of Eight comprehensive reform bill is fragile and loosely cobbled together. How could Big Labor and the Chamber of Commerce and the tech world and Big Agriculture all unite behind one bill? Very tentatively. It wouldn´t take much to break the coalition apart. And if that happens, the effort to enact comprehensive immigration reform could blow up, not just for the moment, but for some time to come. And there are signs that is exactly what is occurring now. So his mother dressed him in a white baptismal suit and hat and tucked him into a tiny white casket. Brady´s burial came just four weeks after his first laugh — inspired by her version of I´m a Little Teapot — and two weeks after his family learned that he had

In Dearborn, Mich., home to over 40,000 Americans of Arab descent, some Muslim parents have complained about flyers handed out at public schools advertising an Easter egg hunt at a local Presbyterian church. The Muslim parents assert that the flyers – emblazoned with the word “Eggstravaganza!” – violate the separation of church and state widely ascribed to the First Amendment’s Establishment Clause, reports the Detroit Free Press. Students at three Dearborn elementary schools received the flyers. A large number of Muslim students attend the schools. The “Eggstravaganza!” is scheduled to take place on April 12 event at Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church

Democrats are facing a senior problem that could get even worse this year. The party has traditionally had trouble with older voters, losing the group aged 65 and over by 21 points in 2010 — when Republicans picked up 63 seats — and by 12 points in the 2012 presidential race. Seniors are the GOP’s most reliable voting bloc in midterm years, turning out in higher numbers than Democratic base voters. A recent Gallup poll showed seniors have become even more Republican over the last two decades; in 2013, 48 percent considered themselves Republican. That spells trouble for Democrats, who are already facing

When friends and family members gathered recently at the White House for a private celebration of Michelle Obama’s 50th birthday, one of the invited partygoers was a former paid FBI Mafia informant. That same man attended February’s state dinner in honor of French President Francois Hollande. He was seated with his girlfriend at a table adjacent to President Barack Obama, who is likely unaware that, according to federal agents, his guest once interacted with members of four of New York City’s five organized crime families. He even secretly taped some of those wiseguys using a briefcase that FBI technicians outfitted

Add Bryan Cranston, the star of TV´s recent hit "Breaking Bad" and a new Broadway play about former President Lyndon B. Johnson, to Team Obamacare. In an interview with Yahoo News “global anchor” Katie Couric, the actor called Obamacare the highlight of President Obama´s legacy. “Now’s the time to stake a claim to leave your legacy,” he encouraged Obama. “I personally believe that his health care program is fantastic. Yes, there are problems. Anything worth while is going to go through a growing pains period. But this is his legacy and I think it’s a great one because I don’t

Wellington -He may be only eight months old. But Prince George made an assured appearance on his debut royal tour this morning. Arriving in New Zealand on the first day of a three-week trip Down Under, the third in line to the throne took the windswept welcome in his stride, although he looked a little chilly in a cream jumper and shorts. Scroll down for video -With a lifetime of royal engagements ahead of him, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are understandably protective of their young son. Indeed, his appearance today was only the second time he has been

The Democratic National Committee is furious by a conservative website’s ad campaign that depicts Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi clad in a bikini in a provocative pose with her tongue sticking out. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, called on Republicans to press Breitbart News to remove the artwork — one of several suggestive images on the website promoting the new California site. The image of Pelosi, beneath one of California Gov. Jerry Brown’s face photo-shopped onto a flexing body builder, includes the sub-head: “Because you can’t make this s— up.” “To say the least,

American public school students sick of the smaller portions and healthier offerings they get at lunch thanks to Michelle Obama´s anti-obesity initiatives are sounding off on social media. Just a month after school lunch participation saw the steepest drop on record following the implementation of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act, students tired of going home hungry are making sure the first lady knows why. ´I´ll never forgive Michelle Obama for this school lunch,´ tweeted one angry student. [Snip] The extremely negative reviews have over a million kids refusing to eat the offerings, an ironic result for legislation meant to combat

COLLEGE STATION, Tex. — With eyes increasingly on him, Jeb Bush signaled on Sunday the kind of campaign he would mount if he runs for president, one arguing against ideological purity tests while challenging party orthodoxy on issues like immigration and education. Even as he sharply criticized President Obama for his handling of foreign affairs and health care, Mr. Bush made clear that he would run against the style of politics that has characterized recent Republican nominating contests. He said he would decide by the end of the year, in part on whether he thinks he could avoid “the vortex of
