Barack Obama is certainly an accomplished liar. This essay will spotlight a few from among a lengthy list of his outrageous lies; consider whether it is possible that, in his mind, he is not lying; and then explain why the incessant prevarications might actually reflect something hopeful about the American people. Obama´s lies are legion. They include: "If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan -- period. If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor -- period." Arguably the president´s biggest whopper, and the one that is causing him the most trouble recently. The attack
Well, this is cold comfort. In short, if Obama told Americans what he was trying to accomplish they would never support him but if they can see what he´s doing with their own eyes they support him for reelection and demonize the people (conservatives) who are spelling it out for them. And this talk of European-style socialism...it doesn´t sound so bad. Anyone who´s been to Europe knows that many of those people live comfortably, even prosperously. But I remember how often Obama has insulted Europeans and the disdain with which he has held many of their leaders. What makes anyone so certain that he hasn´t got something more Soviet, more Cuban in mind? His mentor as a child was a communist as was his father whose dreams he cherishes.
It seems that there are only two possible explanations for Obama´s track record of overt lies:
It´s Door Number Two. I know this because I read Rules For Radicals.
In short, he fails to tell the truth because he fears that the majority of Americans are not in favor of his radical transformation of society. Is he right?
Nope. Just ask Nate from Harvard med school.
And so I take some solace from his calculation that America has not (yet) tipped from the constitutional republic it still is (partly) to the Euro-style social welfare state that he is trying to create.
Trying to create? Ron, 51 percent of American voters are members of the Free Stuff Army (I really wish I could use the other word for Stuff here) with more recruits graduating or dropping out from high school and college every year. The social welfare state is a done deal and has been for a very long time. Man, where´ve you been?
I want my grand prize for knowing and trying to tell everyone that this guy with his malarkey on hope and change was lying to us from day one? I´ll share that prize with the fine folks here. I can´t tell you how furious and frustrated I am when it didn´t have to be this way. This is one of those times when there´s zero satisfaction in being proved right.
#2, You are so right in that people look at Europe and find their lifestyles nothing to be feared. They appear to be happy. Their cities are beautiful. Their children are educated. However, their brand of socialism is quickly coming to an end because they are just about out of money. Things will then take a very different course. It will be ugly and violent. It always is. The world is moving toward socialism more and more. We are the sticking point. This country stands out like a sore thumb to the globalists and they mean to take it down. Obama is one of them. He is working toward that goal and succeeding. What armies have not been able to do the communists in our midst are accomplishing. Time will tell if enough Americans will resist or go along to get along. This country is on the brink of deciding one way or another.
I´m a political junkie and paid attention to the political landscape and electids in local and national government. I knew who Sarah Palin was when she was elected governor in Alaska not when she entered in the VP race with McCain. I also kept up with Obama´s win as a state senator and his nasty campaign in the 2000s. Anyone in 2007 could have asked me about Obama and I could have told them he was a phony and a fraud. To what extent of being a lying fraud, well, that came later. What makes me mad are the ignorant people who still believe and follow this communist fraud and are clueless as to what they give up in freedoms to be communist along with Obama. Optimistic? No I´m not because of the population sucked in by Obama´s Santa Clause effect he has on them. Our future is dim.
For normal individuals the dividing lines between issues, facts opinions are - true or false, fair or unfair, justified or unjustified, legal or illegal, moral or immoral etc. For a sociopath the only criteria is - Does it benefit me or not, does it hurt my enemies or not. If the answer is yes he will say it regardless.
With respect, I must disagree #2. I have been to Europe, many times. They do not live comfortably or prosperously.
Most homes are are the size of small condos. Very few can afford property. Their fixtures and appliances are not very modern, with some exceptions.
They are so heavily taxed that most do not own cars, and are forced into public transportation. They have few clothes.
Their cities are interesting to a tourist, but I cannot imagine living in one of them.
When you walk around, you begin to notice that the people are not happy. There is an air of resignation as if their souls have been robbed of any optimism. This is what the liberals are trying to impose upon us.
He seems to feel that he needs to trick us, rather than lead us to where he wants to take us.
That´s the only way he could have gotten elected twice. It´s the only way even many Democrats would go along with him --- the sane ones, that is.
If he is wrong, and the society does indeed long for the socialist nirvana that is his goal, then he is lying for nothing. If he is right, then it´s time to stop countenancing the lies and for the American people to hold him accountable.
That´s what Ted Cruz & Co. are trying to do. Individual Americans are helpless unless they rise up en masse and revolt in the streets of Washington. But members of Congress by now should know that Obama is abusing his power. That is reason for impeachment, especially with his latest gambit to control the use of energy with his Executive Order regarding "climate preparedness", which really has nothing to do with his real goal of controlling Americans´ lives.
Don´t forget Maxine Waters´ slip of the tongue a few years back when, speaking about nationalized health care (or something) she actually slipped and said words to the effect of "It´s the only way to control the people." I haven´t forgotten that, either.
The entire Democrats Party, with a few rogue exceptions, is complicit in what is happening to America and what is about to happen unless power is yanked from this abyssmal president.
If you or I were willing to lie for 17 years about being born in Kenya—which he did in his publicity brochure that Breitbart uncovered before his mysterious death—we would be willing to lie about everything and anything else. If you or I were willing to lie about who our real father was—and which one 30-second glance at the photos in the lower corner of the “Dreams From My Real Father” website demonstrate is not even a close call—we would be willing to lie without hesitation about everything else. So please, gentle LDotters, STOP saying he was born in Kenya, even if he himself said so for 17 years until his run for president began (and with full complicity from massmedia). His demented mother was not so demented and stupid as to travel to Kenya, nine-months pregnant, to birth the pathological liar. So please think critically, distribute far and wide the link to his real father’s photos, side-by-side with his and his dupe “father’s” photos on the “real father” website, and understand the real reason for his birth cert forgery. He IS a natural-born citizen, as his American-born, self-proclaimed communist mentor, Frank (“Pops”) Marshall Davis, WAS his real father. Amazing that a Pulitzer prize and untold $millions await a credible journalist who simply reports what he saw on the “Real Father” website, but for some unknown reason will not.
Obama (and all dims) lie so much simply because they are rewarded for lying. If it helps them advance their cause, the people who support them see their lying as a form of FIGHTING for their cause. They like their guys to fight dirty, and lying is just dirty fighting. The rank and file dims (including the MSM) not only tolerate the lying, they cheer it and happily repeat the lies themselves, even when they know they are lies.
We on the right lose because we assume that, once caught lying, there will be a price to pay for the dims. Nah, there´s a reward.
Sociopath = "Antisocial personality disorder is a mental health condition in which a person has a long-term pattern of manipulating, exploiting, or violating the rights of others. This behavior is often criminal." Yea. Sounds right.
The densely populated coastal corridors from Boston to Washington and from San Diego to Berkeley are where most of America´s big decisions are made. They remind us of two quite different Americas: one country along these coasts and everything else in between. Those in Boston, New York and Washington determine how our government works; what sort of news, books, art and fashion we should consume, and whether our money and investments are worth anything. The Pacific corridor is just as influential, but in a hipper, cooler fashion. Whether America suffers through another zombie film or one more Lady Gaga video or Kanye
Proliferation: As we shutter our ICBM squadrons and destroy our silos, Iran and North Korea are working on technology to deliver nukes Pyongyang already has and Tehran is a few centrifuge rotations from acquiring. As Bill Gertz of the Washington Free Beacon reports, groups of technicians from the Shahid Hemmat Industrial Group (SHIG), a unit in charge of building Iran´s liquid-fueled missiles, have made repeated trips to North Korea during the past several months, including as recently as late October, to work on a new 80-ton rocket booster being developed by the North Koreans, That booster is believed to be the foundation
Four more years. 10 trillion more dollars in debt. And by the end of it, we’ll have a nuclear war in the Middle East and mandates forcing you to buy everything from electric cars to Michelle Obama’s trademark Soy and Asphalt pie. The motives behind the Washington Post op-ed argument are… revealing. I watch President Obama, whose approval rating has dipped to 37?percent in CBS News polling — the lowest ever for him — during the troubled rollout of his health-care reform. Many of Obama’s fellow Democrats have distanced themselves from the reform and from the president. Even former president Bill Clinton
Progressive talk radio needs a savior. Just a few dozen stations now carry liberal talkers, as key affiliates in cities with active left-wing politics are falling like dominoes, going dark or switching formats. Detroit’s progressive outlet shut down in January, along with Seattle’s liberal talk station, which changed to sports. And after last year’s election, Portland’s progressive talk station ended its political programming. With the political battlegrounds of 2014 and 2016 on the horizon, reducing the whopping imbalance between conservative radio, with its huge fan base, and the left has become more important than ever, according to those in
After the elections in 2016, President Barack Obama will leave the White House, but he may not leave Washington. In an interview with ABC, Obama said the decision will revolve around Sasha, the President and First Lady Michelle Obama´s youngest daughter, who will be a sophomore in high school when he leaves office. Malia, the oldest daughter, will be in college. "´Cause she´s, you know, obviously they - and Michelle - have made a lot of sacrifices on behalf of my cockamamie ideas, the running for office and things," Obama told ABC´s Barbara Walters. The interview with the President and First Lady
WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama says he´ll release a new national security strategy next year. The White House on Friday released a copy of a letter in which Obama informs Congress of his intent to release a new National Security Strategy in early 2014. The document will update the strategy he outlined in 2010 as well as describe the administration´s national security priorities for the remainder of his term. In the 2010 strategy, Obama addressed how the U.S. would strengthen its position as a global leader, end the war in Iraq, disrupt, dismantle and defeat the al-Qaida terrorist network and achieve economic recovery
“Iran, U.S. Set To Establish Joint Chamber Of Commerce Within Month,” reports Agence-France Presse. Government official Abolfazi Hejazi tells the English-language newspaper Iran Daily that the Islamic Republic will shortly commence direct flights to America. Passenger jets, not ICBMs, one assumes – although, as with everything else, the details have yet to be worked out. Still, the historic U.S.-Iranian rapprochement seems to be galloping along, and any moment now the cultural exchange program will be announced, and you’ll have to book early for the Tehran Ballet’s season at the Kennedy Center (“Death To America” in repertory
Last week Frank J. Fleming, one of the funniest bloggers around, tweeted: "At this point in the Obama presidency, we were supposed to be talking about how we needed to repeal the 22nd Amendment," which limits presidents to two terms. We laughed and gave Fleming a retweet. On Wednesday we observed that it´s hard for a political humorist to keep up with the real-life absurdities of the Obama crowd. To illustrate the point, along comes Jonathan Zimmerman, a historian at New York University, with an op-ed in the Washington Post arguing that we need to repeal the 22nd Amendment. Now of course
A Chinese city´s plan for a "baby box" where parents can anonymously leave their unwanted infants is proving controversial, it´s reported. Shenzhen has apparently applied to the Guangdong provincial authorities to pilot such a facility next year. Some social media users have warned that the box will encourage "irresponsible parents" to give away their unwanted children, the People´s Daily newspaper says. But the head of Shenzhen´s social welfare centre, Tang Rongsheng, points out that nearly 100 abandoned infants have been handed over to his centre this year. "The shelter embodies the idea of prioritising the interest of the child," he says. Shenzhen is
President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama met informally with immigration activists on the National Mall on Friday. They visited individuals taking part in Fast for Families to “offer their support for those who are fasting on behalf of immigration reform,” a White House official told the pool report. The Obamas spoke with the activists for about half an hour. The immigration activists have been fasting since Nov. 12, abstaining from all food except water and “are calling for the Republican leadership in the House of Representatives to take up action on comprehensive immigration reform,” the official said. The Obamas were joined
China says it scrambled fighter jets to monitor US and Japanese planes as they flew in its newly declared air defence zone in the East China Sea on Friday. The zone covers territory claimed by China, Japan, Taiwan and South Korea. China said last week that all aircraft crossing through the zone must file flight plans and identify themselves or face "defensive emergency measures". The US, Japan and South Korea say they have since defied the ruling and flown military aircraft in the area. The air defence identification zone (ADIZ) covers a vast area of the East China Sea, including a group of islands
Five days after Jason Carter jumped into the Georgia governor’s race, his grandfather, former President Jimmy Carter, delivered a speech urging a ban on the death penalty. Within hours, the newly minted candidate felt compelled to issue a retort: while he loves his grandfather, he told a reporter, “I believe in the death penalty for heinous crimes, and that won’t change when I’m governor.” The episode spoke to the benefit and potential burden of the Carter surname for the upstart Democratic state senator, who is waging a long-shot bid to unseat first-term Republican Gov. Nathan Deal. Practically everyone in the Peach
President Obama requested Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu take a “breather” from his harsh criticism of the U.S. strategy regarding Iran during a call betwee the two leaders, The Washington Post reported on Thursday. The request came as the administration girds up for a push in the next six months to reach a final settlement on Iran´s nuclear program. The president reportedly urged Netanyahu to tone down his rhetoric for the sake of diplomacy and urged him to dispatch officials to Washington who could help negotiate a resolution agreeable to both countries. The president called Netanyahu last Sunday, promising to
In 1947, Sen. Harley Kilgore (D-W.Va.) condemned a proposed constitutional amendment that would restrict presidents to two terms. “The executive’s effectiveness will be seriously impaired,” Kilgore argued on the Senate floor, “ as no one will obey and respect him if he knows that the executive cannot run again.” I’ve been thinking about Kilgore’s comments as I watch President Obama, whose approval rating has dipped to 37?percent in CBS News polling — the lowest ever for him — during the troubled rollout of his health-care reform. Many of Obama’s fellow Democrats have distanced themselves from the reform and from the president.
Cher told her fans on Wednesday that she does not celebrate Thanksgiving. In fact, she appears to deplore the American holiday, calling in the “beginning of a great crime.” Cher said that the American settlers were guilty of taking land from native Americans who had no concept of property ownership and also intentionally infected them with smallpox. “You don’t celebrate the holiday I thought?” a fan asked Cher. “I DON’T,” Cher replied emphatically. She said that, to her, Thanksgiving is a day to see family, eat food together and watch a movie. “Not 2 celebrate the beginning of a GREAT Crime.” When asked
For all the gnashing of teeth over the lack of comity and civility in Washington, the real problem is not etiquette but the breakdown of political norms, legislative and constitutional. Such as the one just spectacularly blown up in the Senate. To get three judges onto a coveted circuit court, frustrated Democrats abolished the filibuster for executive appointments and (non-Supreme Court) judicial nominations. The problem is not the change itself. It’s fine that a president staffing his administration should need 51 votes rather than 60. Doing so for judicial appointments, which are for life, is a bit dicier. Nonetheless, for
President Obama's weekly remarks: Hi, everybody. On behalf of all the Obamas — Michelle, Malia, Sasha, Bo, and the newest member of our family, Sunny — I want to wish you a happy and healthy Thanksgiving. We’ll be spending today just like many of you — sitting down with family and friends to eat some good food, tell stories, watch a little football and. most importantly, count our blessings. And as Americans, we have so much to be thankful for.
LEE COUNTY - The Lee County Sheriff´s Office has arrested a juvenile in connection with two random attacks reported in Lee County. Traveshia Blanks, of Fort Myers, is charged with two counts of battery on a person 65 years of age or older. On Tuesday around 3:50 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a group of people who randomly attacked an unsuspecting victim (Snip)We talked to students from nearby Cypress Lake High School who didn´t seem to think the teens did anything wrong. "I´m not gonna say it´s not right and it´s not fun, because it is fun," said
Economics: It seems the official position of Pope Francis is that the free market is a wicked enemy that must be restrained. With all due respect, he´s mistaken. The free market has been a heavenly blessing. Two days before our American Thanksgiving, the Argentinian pontiff, in his first apostolic exhortation, called the free market a "new tyranny." "Some people continue to defend trickle-down theories which assume that economic growth, encouraged by a free market, will inevitably succeed in bringing about greater justice and inclusiveness in the world," he wrote in the Vatican report. Claims of free-market success, he said, have "never been confirmed
President Obama is concerned these days with the "young invincibles," the 20-somethings he needs now to buy into his program, but who probably won´t because they feel (you guessed it) invincible and think they will stay so for quite a long time. But it takes one to know one, as the irony is Obama himself is, or once was, an ultra-invincible, unstoppable and doing what people said couldn´t be done. Could he become world famous on the strength of one speech? Yes, he could. Could he beat Hillary Clinton, a president´s wife and a feminist icon? Yes, he could. Could he
One day after a new poll showed that only a minority of Americans trust President Barack Obama, the president told an audience that his policies are based on kindness. “Kindness covers all of my political beliefs,” Obama told his audience of wealthy investors, high-tech donors, journalists and fellow Democrats Tuesday, only two months after he slashed at GOP legislators, calling them arsonists, nuclear blackmailers, economic wreckers, hostage-takers, obsessives and irresponsible extremists. “When I think about what I’m fighting for, what gets me up every single day, [kindness] captures it just about as much as anything,” he told his audience at the DreamWorks
Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin are starting to sour on the new pope. In response to Pope Francis’ first Apostolic Exhortation, in which the pontiff denounced “trickle-down theories which assume that economic growth, encouraged by a free market, will inevitably succeed in bringing about greater justice and inclusiveness in the world,” these two paragons of the far right – both of whom regularly invoke the teachings of Jesus to bolster their own political views – have suddenly turned their backs on the man whose actual job description is to speak for Jesus. Sarah Palin complained that Pope Francis sounded “kind
For Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell, enough was enough. The Senate´s top Republican had watched a Tea Party-driven government shutdown sink the GOP´s already-weak brand and jeopardize McConnell´s own chances of ever becoming majority leader. The solution, he concluded, was that the party´s so-called Establishment had to start fighting back against its most conservative wing. McConnell, an ardent Obamacare opponent, and other Republican pragmatists in Congress, supported the conservatives´ mission to defund Obamacare during budget negotiations, which led to the 16-day shutdown. But the pragmatists also accepted that their odds of success were virtually nil. Democrats ruled the Senate and White House, those
In the wake of the Obamacare fiasco, President Obama’s poll numbers are collapsing in two industrial Midwestern states — the quintessential swing state of Ohio and his home state of Illinois. In Illinois, the Democratic firm Public Policy Polling found Obama’s approval rating falling to just 50–46 positive in a state he carried by 17 points just a year ago. His biggest drops in support came among women voters (only 50 percent positive) and Hispanics (only 51 percent positive). Without his overwhelming support among African-Americans (92 percent), his approval rating would easily be in the low 40s. The liberal website
