We are only three and a quarter years away from transforming the United States of America. We may never get back to where we once were, but we can sure roll back much of the mess Barack Obama has created through his misguided policies and serial incompetence. With ObamaCare´s ascendancy and impending crash, America will be on the cusp of transformational action. The misery the ACA will bring to almost every American cannot be overestimated in its ability to incite anger -- and, anger has consequences and repercussions. The failure of the ACA has the potential to make 2014 a wave
The US Marxist media has their work cut out for them as they carry their MESSiah´s lazy good for nothing carcass across the finish line while he busy´s himself with golf and watching ESPN sportscenter with his pal Reggie. You can count on it.
The rage will reach astronomical levels when state taxpayers get stuck with the Medicaid bill in 3 years. Even the parasites may join once they find out few doctors will take them on as patients. Then there´s Medicare and the fury of the old people once that $600-800 billion is removed from it and their care is gone. Demonrats are so brilliant that it´s awe inspiring.
#5 is correct. The GOP will mess it up by passing amnesty and when that happens it won´t matter that obamacare is a failure. Getting 30-40 million illegals with no skills, illiterate, non English speaking, overwhelming every entitlement program, all becoming Democrat voters will make obamacare look like a success.
The genius of their plan has been the HUGE increase in free stuff during their reign. They have used our tax money to advertise how to get food stamps, free phones...and now they are talking about computers. Will cars be next? Whatever it takes to redistiubute the wealth!
They are banking on the fact that the outrage of the recipients of reduced benefits will trump the outrage of the producers.
The lid for the coffin on America will be if they succeed in dumping all of the immigrants (who pour across the borders that they refuse to close) into our free system, and tip the scale permanently.
Democrats are blessed in their opponents who are led by what is probably the stupidest group of politicians in the nation´s history. These Beltway RINOs are like the Bourbon kings of France. Who, it is said, forgot nothing and learned nothing.
FTA:"The MSM did conservatives a favor by making sure every American knew that the Republicans shut down the government in an attempt to defund ObamaCare. As the ACA touches the lives of every American and the anger builds, they will remember who tried to stop it."
And there would have been no shutdown if not for Cruz and the Tea Party. The MSM can turn on a dime, they already trying to fix the mess for the Marxist Menace.
My biggest worry is the Cheese Eating Surrender Monkey´s in the Republican Party and their ability, as the author put it to "snatch defeat from the jaws of victory."
Has anyone seen Weeping John lately? You can be sure if Piglosi was handed a gift like this she´d be at the microphone every chance she got. I think the Republicans are being way too quiet about this.
A shift is coming. It is mathematically impossible to continue to increase the flow of wealth from a decreasing pool of creators to an ever growing pool of takers. It will break. I just hope that they squeezed too much too soon under the illusion of broader support for collectivist authoritarianism than was actually there. I hope many were caught up in the first black president and less so the ideology which didn´t get much press. In fact remember how ridiculous it was to consider him socialist? I hope there was/is genuine denial. I also hope that many I have harshly lumped in to one group as takers would prefer it not to be that way. As the economy is throttled by wealth transfer a layer of potential producing people gets stripped away and they end up on the dole. Some are enthusiastic "entitled" yet consistent with Cloward and Piven, more were needed to create a dependency class staging a collapse.
Let´s pray that the Obama and his disastrous Obamacare wakes enough of our neighbors up, with our help, to see this in the bigger context of limited government individual freedom vs. totalitarianism. There was one way traffic across the Berlin wall, not many Floridians strapping pontoons on their cars to escape to Cuba. Somewhere sometime the human spirit will seek out natural rights.
From the author´s keyboard to God´s ears. Please make this so. My ONLY trepidation is the amnesty lie the democrats and establishment republicans will try and push down our throats. More than ever the democrats need amnesty. They need the votes to offset the anger of the American people. The establishment just wants to buy a little Hispanic love and give the conservatives a black eye. The passage of comprehensive immigration will be the death knell for traditional America. The progressives know it and they will do anything to make sure it is passed. We are facing a mighty force that is well funded and motivated. It is time the progressives learn that "we the people" mean something. Put your armor on, it is going to be an epic battle.
I can´t say I fully understood at the time what Ted Cruz was up to. Looking back it´s obvious to me that aside from his longshot odds of Pubbie unanimity and delaying ObamaCare, his efforts were intended to break through the considerable corrupt news media interference and make sure that everyone, even the LoFo´s knew that ObamaCare was all Dem, 100 percent of it. That ObamaCare ownership fact that was so painfully obvious to us informed smarty Righties had to be driven home to the Lowest of Info folks who really don´t know who the VPOTUS is or that we fought the British for our Independence. ObamaCare is an ever heavier boat anchor around the necks of the Dems and now EVERYBODY knows it as we move forward to 2014 and 2016 elections. Thank you, Senator Cruz.
“Stick a Fork in Obama.” Make it a tuning fork, exemplifying just how tone-deaf and out of tune he is when it comes to Americans who are able to think for themselves. Those Stepford Wife-like creatures who serve as lovingly loyal, gushing, smiling, head-nodding background props for him when he makes one of his lie-laced speeches graphically reflect his mindless base, oohing and ahhing at his every syllable.
Now that we’ve seen what a failure fundamentally transforming (and derailing) America is, it’s high time we get America back on track where it has functioned more successfully for centuries than any other nation on Earth. The first steps must be taken by the realistic, clear-thinking, high-information voting members of The Tea Party.
I’ve had my fill of listening to a stone Communist telling me what to think and what to do. Enough!
People have been hit hard and very personally with the change in their healthcare. They will have no stomach for any immigration changes or the endless nothingness of debates on the issue. Of course we do have that 42% of Obama´s followers that keep circling around the bowl. They could easily be distracted.
This was not supposed to be easy, and nobody was supposed to keep the plan they liked. But the current system had to be broken beyond repair, with pain for the middle class worker, in order to transform it.
The only solution will be government to the rescue, with a single payer plan. You will pay the government with your taxes, based on your income. In the end the government will be the only insurer.
It better crash before Jan 1. Enroll America is signing up highly subsidized freeloaders right now. The first ones who receive treatment will establish the entitlement. The same goes for the ones who receive treatment under new relaxed Medicaid rules. This will be messy at best.
Keep dreaming. As long as the Kneepad Media are still in bed with the Administration he is immune from any consequences. There are more than enough people of color and white, guilt/angst ridden LoFo voters out there to keep pushing through Stinky´s agenda. Once amnesty is pushed through we will officially be a socialist/communist nation.
I wouldn´t stick a fork in Obama just yet. Like other posters the Republicans will help raise him up like a Phoenix. They have a way of snapping defeat from the jaws of victory. My wife has some friends (not mine) who are white, educated people who voted for Obama in 2008 and again in 2012 because they believed Romney was ´too rich´ while their 401Ks disappeared. I´ll bet the Krauthammers of the nation wanted Obama to be successful and voted for him, twice. Obama could win a third term if he could run. No I wouldn´t stick a fork in Obama I wish I could stick a fork in his supporters.
I agree it is time to stick a fork in the whole administration. What I find appalling is the use of bad language to represent their government programs: the 1-800 ****you for Obamacare, and some other program with three letters which only Sarah Palin had the courage to call them out on - no one else had the intelligence to let them know how crass and crude it was.
Now, yesterday, Glenn Beck told us there is a new site entitled OMG that stands for Oh, my government, instead of Oh, My God.
They once tried to label GW a frat boy which he wasn´t. He treated the office of the Presidency with dignity and respect and these guys all act like they are in Animal House. Stick a fork in them, please.
Every day I wonder what percentage of the doom and gloom at l.com is real and what (probably small but I believe significant) percent represents lurking FUD-sowers from the moonbat side.
But, no matter - I treasure those Ldotters who refuse to roll over and die and proclaim defeat. This article is wonderful and I will continue "dreaming," working, fighting, for the country´s life. The money quote was this - reinforcing my gut belief that Cruz did exactly the right thing:
FTA: Republicans, having made a futile stand in attempting to defund ObamaCare, have immunity.
Stop with the attacks on the GOP. Please...and do it now.
The enemy isn´t the Republican party, it´s an evil man and all his cronies intent on destroying our country who are fully aided and abetted by all demonRATs like the pale gray, corrupt-to-the-core Harry Reid, the money grubbing Pelosi who´s husband just gets wealthier because of his wife´s insider assistance...you get the picture. No matter what the GOP may have done, or not done and no matter what one thinks of the leadership, the worst Republican is better than the best demonRAT on any day one chooses to compare. Whenever the temptation comes to look "smart" and attack the GOP in whatever capacity, the only thing accomplished is to help these terrible people. The first job is to get rid of as many RATs as possible in the fall of 2014, and then—when we´re rid of barry and his fellow grifters and have the place fumigated— get a leader into the White House who´s first day will include reversing all that the muslim traitor has done. We need to pull the troops together and unite behind the real cause not pass out guns so we can shoot ourselves in our own feet.
#22 -- That is the exact attitude that will ensure defeat. It´s not so much, will the GOP screw it up, as much as will we back good solid candidates in 2014 and again in 2016. Seems to be it is a three-part process:
1. Run tough primary competitors against people like John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Peter King, etc. Those people have had their day in the sun and now need to be shown the door.
2. Run tough general election campaigns -- none of this tough primary and now I´m going to be a gentleman (or lady) to the Democrat opposition. It´s war, treat it like war.
I see a whole lot of defeatism in this thread. Mr. Gensert is correct. This administration is toast.
If we don´t want the GOP to screw it up again, it´s up to WE THE PEOPLE not to let that happen. Politicians, even RINOs, are quite sensitive to shifts in the political winds.
Right now, the average Republican politician is worried that there aren´t enough small-government conservatives who will actually vote when it counts. They saw what happened in 2008 and 2012, and they don´t want it to happen to them. They need to KNOW that they will have a solid base of conservatives behind them if they do the right thing and that they will be held accountable if they don´t.
Many here assume we will have another election. I am not so sure. Obama has fired so many of our military leaders for flim flam reasons, such as counterfeit chips at cards. He has and will continue to take our guns. He has loaded up DHS with tons of ammo, weapons, even tanks; built retention centers all over. He has asked the military if they would fire on citizens. He has tipped the financial sides, put many Muslim Brotherhood culprits in his advisory staff and is trying to wipe out Christianity. He has DOJ in his hip pocket. Fume all you want over ACA, but we have a lot more than that to worry about. I´ve just scratched the surface. Is the present GOP in office complicit? We´ll soon see.
I would love to shove a fork up Barry´s you-know-where, but unfortunately, I don´t think that would do much good. He may never get anything else through Congress, but he´s so corrupt that he´ll spend the next three years sitting in the White House issuing abusive and illegal Executive Orders trying to go around Congress to get his way. It´s going to be a long and painful three years for all Americans.
That is if Republican candidates can force themselves into not allowing the liberal media to sucker them into talking about abortion, rape, and items related to the homosexual agenda like same sex marriage, that really have nothing or little to do with the job of being a conservative Representative or Senator in Congress.
FTA: Barack Obama has been the worst thing that has ever happened to the Oval Office, and in the end, ObamaCare will seal his fate as a failed president.
I certainly hope what he says is true. Will it even get to the point where the MSM just cannot ignore the blatant lies and frauds of the tyrant Barry??? Maybe when they start getting the devasting insurance notices they will start singing a different tune. I dearly love this country and pray there are enough of us who are left that will fight to the bitter end to save it. My life would be complete if I got to see Barack Hussein 0bama hauled off to jail. It infuriates me when some idiot pundit says "he doesn´t agree with his policies but he is a nice guy." There is nothing nice about this evil, malevolent, hateful man.
The Democrats are self destructing in ways never believed possible. They are doing to them selves what the opposition could have never accomplished. This may be unbelievable at this moment in time. But it is the beginning of the end of their reign of terror on this country. As this unfolds, people all across this country will unite and anger will fuel the 2014 mid term elections into a massive rout which will be of historic proportions. Their days are numbered and it´s countdown. That micro wave hasn´t dinged yet, and that potato is almost done.
Republicans have always had a tendency of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, but it´s looking fairly safe they will play this one right.
Really? Who told you that, the GOP Fairy?
Republicans, having made a futile stand in attempting to defund ObamaCare, have immunity.
No, there were only TWO Republicans who tried to defund ObamaCare, remember? Mitch, Boehner and the other GOP Depends wearers did their level best to help the Marxists destroy those two. Why some conservatives think that a GOP 2014 win and GOP 2016 WH win is going to do anything other than help the GOP continue their usual Fall Down, Roll Over, Soil Self schtick is beyond me. However, our nation´s rocket sled ride to Babylon might get slowed down a scoonch with the GOP. Big whoop. We need to invoke Article 5, period. I just hope there are enough non blithering fidiots left to do so. Anything less is a total waste of time.
OK...I´ll say it yet again. Sticking the fort in Obama will truly come when all of us, and I mean all of us, take to the streets, get in Obie´s and the msm´s face, and bring ObieScare and the msm to their knees..and make both die.
The resistance must become part of the American conscience, just like the anti-Vietnam war movement of the 1960s and 1970s. It took time, but, the resistance eventually prevailed (again not that I prefer surrender in war time)..and won.
Everyday, we must think, what can I do today to defeat ObieScare and the msm. A couple of hints: talk it up among your family, friends, pets, anything alive like it is second nature; don´t consume the msm´s product or even acknowledge that it exists. And make some noise, lots of noise, lots of noise. Right now, Obie´s intelligencia does not know what to do, did not expect this early level of resistance. It will take time to get rid of ObieScare, so be ready and be in for the long haul.
#32 and #37 mega thumbs up. The GOP can´t win as long as the many sub parties gathered under the banner will not concede their my way or the highway mentality. Too bad so many complainers can´t see that if their faction ruled they would soon act just like the progressives who ran all the democrats out of that party. Sadly all the progressives have to do is wave the immorality flag to set off a complete stampede of sit outs and no effort to unite to direct the election machines.
Start with his Pinocchio lies, show his long nose, Stop showing Obozo gaily walking to & from the copter in his fashionable, double flap in the wind suits. Always show his addiction to the TelePrompter ALWAYS voice over describe who the smiling robots are One of Obozo´s most fantastic tricks, always ignored by ALL the press, is his chorus of stupid smiling head nodding dummies who are always lined up behind him like a musical religious format. The press never criticizes or makes fun of this obvious staging trick. Next, commie Val will conduct them in a chorus of, "Yes, I Believe !" Have the guts to show him smoking, and for gods sake, Breitbart cameras, get out there and constantly show America his weird golf swing ..... In shorts !!! already yet His communist medical chaos is there precisely to help our blinded Diane Sawyer commie news actor TV media to allow Obozo and Congress to secretively commit the biggest crime of all ........ Organize thirty million mostly illiterate aliens into communist voting, lawyer hiring robots, one grotesque law that will thereafter be forever IRREVERSIBLE Catholic dictator, Jerry Brown, has openly made California a Pope approved "sanctuary" state, and has just given all illegals the privilege of drivers licenses, and prohibited our police from ever questioning their identity. All of this happening supported by the likes of all the commie uglies, Reid Puglosi Waxman Feinstein Boxer, Schumer, Durbin along wIth RINOS Rubio McCain Cantor the biggest traitor of them all, Boehner.
When the Pelosi-Reid-Obama troika triumphantly celebrated cramming through the ACA (Affordable Care Act) over majority sentiment, they crowed that this was the president´s signature achievement and ACA soon took on the name of its creator, ObamaCare. Though not one of them, nor any of the Democrats in the Senate who voted it into law uni-partisanly had read it, they all assured us that we´d grow to really, really like it. Boy, were they wrong.
A new report from the Texas-based Quorum Report, published by longtime Texas journalist Harvey Kronberg, says that House Speaker John Boehner plans to push amnesty legislation through the House, after the primary filing deadline for candidates. The move would prevent Tea Party from challenging GOP lawmakers who support amnesty in 2014. Scott Braddock reported on Tuesday that “in recent weeks, various Texas business interests have told Quorum Report that Boehner has been telling them that he will start holding immigration votes not long after the filing deadline has passed.”
The historic IT disaster known as the Obamacare web site has been of intense interest to me, since I´ve been a Senior Software Engineer for decades, and I have personally participated in, witnessed, and reported on (as a technology reporter) a number of IT disasters. But even so, the size of the Obamacare web site catastrophe on October 1 still takes my breath away. When I first heard, shortly after October 1, that there was 500 million lines of code in Healthcare.gov, I quickly rejected that figure, because it´s impossible.
In politics, process matters often nearly as much as — if not more than — substance, and the procedure by which the filibuster was weakened last week by Senate Democrats is likely far more problematic than the rank hypocrisy of their doing so. It is hard to view the Democratic majority’s use of the “nuclear option” as anything other than an admission of weakness and of curbed ambition. After the increasingly problematic Obamacare debacle, it seems as though President Obama and his fellow Democrats have given up the hope of governing through a national consensus. Instead, Obama has signaled that
It may be that the best way conservatives can win an important political battle is to appear not to be fighting one. Harry Reid’s nuking of the Senate filibuster last week might provide the perfect opportunity. Ideologues may not want to hear this, but bear with me. The American electorate desperately wants to see somebody important appear to put the public good ahead of partisanship. Surveys for years have made this clear. The first party to convincingly offer a constructive middle ground — somewhere, anywhere — will be the first party to start escaping the astonishingly low poll numbers that plague
On Tuesday, November 12, Nebraska Senate candidate Ben Sasse walked into Mitch McConnell’s office to clear the air. Contrary to the rumors, Sasse wanted to say, he hadn’t secretly vowed to oppose McConnell’s leadership if elected. In fact, he hadn’t been asked to make such a pledge and would never have even considered it. That was the plan, anyway. As soon as Sasse sat down, McConnell lit into him, criticizing him for working with the Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF) as well as for posting a viral YouTube video in which he demanded “every Republican in Washington, starting with Minority Leader
Unless you live under a rock, you’ve heard by now that 52 Senate Democrats voted to end the filibuster for executive branch and judicial nominees after eight years of employing it against President George W. Bush. The hypocrisy is award-worthy. And unless you can’t get cable or radio signals under that rock, you’ve no doubt heard clips from 2005 of every prominent Democrat speaking on the sanctity of the filibuster and against the “nuclear option,” and every prominent Republican saying the opposite. Control of the Senate and White House has flipped since then, and the scripts have too. But here’s
De Blasio’s recent mayoral victory was a sad day for New Yorkers. Electing him was proof that the constituency in NYC is morally, philosophically, and educationally bankrupt. And if the mayor sticks to his positions that he declared as candidate De Blasio, NYC will be financially bankrupt as well. A strong argument can be made that the entire election was a public service union push. For four years now, the public service unions have waited to negotiate their contracts until Bloomberg was out of office. The time has come for the unions. De Blasio, from a position of patronage, will roll
Fresh off the disastrous rollout of Obamacare which Senate Majority Leader Reid and (now former) Speaker of the House Pelosi rammed through Congress using unconventional procedures and with zero Republican support, his extremist wing compelled him to make yet another ham-handed move which predictably will hurt his party in the long run more than it will help it. Since the issue has for the most part been poorly explained in the major media, let me explain what has happened and why I think this will prove a major miscalculation.
A great deal of attention has been focused on the political fallout that Democrats in Congress will face because of their support for ObamaCare. Beyond video of Mary Landrieu in 2009 saying just what Obama was saying about people being allowed to keep their old health plans, surely the video of Nancy Pelosi that we had to "pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it" ought to be part of any Republican´s campaign against Democrats in the congressional midterm elections.
The second presidential midterm has historically been a disaster for the political party whose man is in the White House. In 2006, Republicans lost both houses of Congress as Bush fatigue not only led voters to vote against Republicans, but also led many Republicans to stay home. Although there have been a few anomalies -- like 1998, when the Senate Republicans´ cravenness in Clinton´s impeachment trial opened the door for modest Democrat gains; in 1986; in 1974; in 1966; in 1958; and in 1942 (a third midterm, but in a four-term presidency) -- the party in power generally suffers dramatic
A major GOP donor who told Breitbart News Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell made disparaging remarks about the Tea Party movement and about Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Mike Lee (R-UT) continues to stand by his original story after claims that the reports were not accurate. This individual reported that on the Oct. 30 fundraising call American Crossroads’ Karl Rove and Steven J. Law held with McConnell, “McConnell specifically talked about Mike Lee by name, specifically talked about Ted Cruz by name, and he specifically talked about the Tea Party by name,” the donor told Breitbart News in response to a
The question all week long was this: Who are you going to believe, an illegal alien or the president of the United States of America? Obviously, if it’s a president who once went by an alias, Barry Soetoro, you go with Uncle Omar, 100 percent, no questions asked. And so it was that the White House finally admitted to another, uh, misstatement — despite previous denials, Barack/Barry did sleep on his beloved Uncle Omar’s couch in Cambridge when he first moved here to attend Harvard Law School (speaking of which, we’re still waiting to see the president’s grades and his LSAT scores). But the
How do you get your arms around the catastrophe known as Obamacare? Is it even possible? At this point, I’m not sure it is. The list of individual disasters which threaten to ruin one-sixth of the U.S. economy and what has been, up until now, the best healthcare system in the world is exhaustive, and exhausting. The examples I will identify here barely scratch the surface. First but by no means foremost, we have the supposedly new and improved HealthCare.gov. Except it’s not, even the visible part. Stories still abound of people still failing to get in or to get through the enrollment
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a new five-year strategic plan to improve safety for elderly drivers and passengers. Although they are statistically among the safest on the road, the number of older drivers is increasing dramatically — and with it, that group´s numbers of injuries and deaths. Since 2003, the population of older adults, defined as age 65 and older, has increased by 20% and the number of licensed older drivers increased by 21% to 35 million in 2012, according to NHTSA. Last year, NHTSA reported that 5,560 people older than 65 died and 214,000 were injured
President Barack Obama’s Facebook page on Saturday posted a message honoring the dead from Pearl Harbor—accompanied by a picture of Obama descending the stairs next to the Pearl Harbor Memorial. The picture barely fits the name of the Arizona Memorial so it can frame Obama in the foreground. The post´s statement reads: Today, with solemn pride and reverence, let us remember those who fought and died at Pearl Harbor, acknowledge everyone who carried their legacy forward, and reaffirm our commitment to upholding the ideals for which they served. President Obama The Obama Administration´s current shipbuilding plan shrinks the size of
Barack Obama did not tell the whole story this autumn when he tried to make the case that Bashar al-Assad was responsible for the chemical weapons attack near Damascus on 21 August. In some instances, he omitted important intelligence, and in others he presented assumptions as facts. Most significant, he failed to acknowledge something known to the US intelligence community: that the Syrian army is not the only party in the country’s civil war with access to sarin, the nerve agent that a UN study concluded – without assessing responsibility – had been used in the rocket attack. In the months before the attack,
Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the hapless, goalpost-shifting so-called "architect" of Obamacare, told Fox News´ Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday that President Barack Obama´s promise "if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor" was absolutely true--with one important caveat: if you like your doctor, "you can pay for it." Wallace grilled Dr. Emanuel, challenging his false claims that California´s enrollment was keeping pace with the percentage of the young population necessary to keep the system afloat, and pointing out that the president´s promise on doctors would collapse once people lost their insurance or their
A veteran Washington adviser who has worked for four Presidents on both sides of the political aisle said that the stunning Government Accountability Report report that found President Barack Obama has not had a one-on-one meeting with Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius since the passage of Obamacare over three years ago is an indictment of the entire White House operation and shows that the Obama administration has bordered on "malfeasance." "I have no doubt the White House is right, that Secretary Sebelius was in several group meetings with the president about health care," Gergen caveated, "but the whole
Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I
The U.S. isn´t called "America the Beautiful" for nothing. Each year, millions of tourists come from home and abroad to see the country´s majestic landscape and iconic sites, from the Grand Canyon to the Statue of Liberty. But there are also cool, quirky attractions, like Vermont´s Ben & Jerry´s Factory and Tennessee´s Graceland, the former home of Rock and Roll King Elvis Presley. From California to New York and everywhere in between, the country is chock-full of incredible attractions that keep luring in visitors. Here are the best tourist attractions in every state.
Although the jobless rate in November fell to its lowest level since he took office, President Obama called on Republican lawmakers Saturday to spend tens of billions on unemployment benefits that are set to expire this month. “It shouldn’t be a partisan issue,” Mr. Obama said in his weekly address. But he said the “economic lifeline” is in jeopardy. “All because Republicans in this Congress — which is on track to be the most unproductive in history — have so far refused to extend it” Mr. Obama said. If Congress doesn’t act before lawmakers leave on their holiday break, about
Many people could die as extreme weather becomes common. There will be more freak winds like the October storm, which killed four people. Heatwaves will be lethal and the sea level will rise, leaving coastal towns at risk of being swamped by storm surges. Sir Brian Heap, president of the European Academies Science Advisory Council, said he felt “obliged” to issue the warning after a new study by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. It comes on the back of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, which has killed more than 5,000 people. Sir Brian said: “Given the tragic events this
MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry opened her program over the weekend with a commentary about the Affordable Care Act’s colloquial moniker: “Obamacare.” She said that the word was originally created as a “derogatory term,” designed by white men as a way to delegitimize President Barack Obama and his achievement. However, she said that the term will soon be synonymous with all of Obama’s accomplishments and she urged her audience to use the term with pride. “I want to talk today about a controversial word. It’s a word that has been with us for years, and like it or not, it’s indelibly
