One fourth of MSNBC’s The Cycle, self-identified moderate conservative political commentator Abby Huntsman, announced today that she is flirting with backing Romney for Senate. No, not Mitt Romney; the former Massachusetts governor’s son, Josh Romney. Huntsman, the daughter of former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, urged Josh Romney to take on prominent Republican Utah Sen. Mike Lee in the 2016 Republican GOP caucuses. The MSNBC political commentator said there is a chance that the son of the former Republican presidential candidate can knock off Lee in a primary… in a state where voters chose the GOP candidate over President Barack Obama
Comments: Fortunately no one watches MessNBC and so not many saw this vacuous little twit spew forth her alleged political brilliance. Mike Lee is another fine man, who I didn´t realize until recently, clerked for then Judge Samuel Alito. His father was Solicitor General during Regan´s administration. She´s almost annoying as Meghan McCain. This behavior, especially on MessNBC, is not helpful to the party.
This is rich...a Huntsman advising a Romney the heirs apparent to two very moderate Republicans who couldn´t make the final grade. I voted for Romney and believe he would have been a good President, but he was just too timid.
My money and support go to Mike Lee who has proven himself in the last year or so.
Abby Huntsman sounding like Megan McCain. Wants to have her 5 min of TV glory! Is she as much of a deadbeat republican as her father? Thanks but no thanks Abby Huntsman. Why don´t you challenge Lee if you were so influential as you seem to think you are!
Utah is the most conservative state in the union. They like moderate governors and will keep a person in office a long time for tenure advantages. The Utah popular narrative of common consensus is not same as America as a whole pop narrative.
Josh Romney commits political suicide in Utah as a moderate or RINO, if we must. Mike Lee takes a hardline on what Utahns take a hard line on. Huntsmans? Not so much.
A moderating force as governor but an always hard right legislature. So Josh Romney too smart to listen to the daughter of the man who tried to take Mitt out in NH?

And what the he11 has Josh Romney ever done? He´s Mitt´s son and that entitles him to what? A seat in the U.S. Senate. Mike Lee is a Utah treasure. He is honorable, stalwart, and certainly has proven himself to be a fighter for the rights of the citizens of Utah. I live in Georgia and would absolutely love to have a Senator representing me who possessed the courage and integrity of Mike Lee.
This is by no means the first mention of Josh Romney challenging Mike Lee from the left. A 10/15/13 Bloomberg article by Margaret Carlson (who´s obviously going to favor anything going left) said Mike Lee would be challenged from his left by Josh Romney and Dan Liljenquist. Further, Mitt Romney and his sons ran a summit in Utah in June this year for 200+ political elites to figure out how to increase bi-partisanship and decide who the next candidates should be. Invited guests included democrat insiders like David Axelrod. Meaning Romney is like the rest, when he says bipartisan he means can´t we all be democrats now? Josh Romney was designated to give the media general info about it. As Codevilla says, ordinary Americans must face the reality that its Ruling Class is not on its side. Both political parties in the US are democrat. It´s quite unfortunate people applauded Romney at CPAC last March. He never wanted to be president. He committed massive fraud against millions of Americans and he´s not done. Now he´s coming after Mike Lee.
Remember we were wondering why Mrs. Romney was out there with a cookbook, doing all the interviews and just happening to mention it was her son´s idea? I thought, yep, another Romney is warming up to run for "something."
The ruling class is in a tizzy over Mike Lee and Ted Cruz. They can´t have these men gain influence, therefore, they must be destroyed. Men with integrity can´t be allowed to have a voice in the Republican Party. The ruling class is waging all out war on anyone who expresses conservative ideas. The status quo of a corrupt Washington DC must be protected at all costs. The only thing that will defeat these power hungry Republican progressives is we the people. We have to unite to protect the conservatives that are elected. The long knives are sharpened and they intend to use them.
First lady Michelle Obama on Tuesday praised a group of immigration-reform advocates who are fasting to draw attention to the issue and pressure Congress to act. “As families begin to gather for Thanksgiving, I´m thinking of the brave #Fast4Families immigration reform advocates. We´re with you. -mo,” tweeted the first lady. Tweets written personally by Michelle Obama are signed “-mo.” The group Fast for Families is in the 15th day of their hunger strike. The activists have set up a tent on the National Mall and were visited by Vice President Biden earlier in the week. President Obama has called immigration

One of President Obama’s wealthy supporters complained about the lack of valet parking at the White House – during a campaign event in California. Haim Saban needled the president about parking at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue during a high-dollar fundraiser for Democrats. The event was held at Saban’s sprawling Beverly Hills estate. “Last Friday, the president and first lady were very generous and kind with their time, they invited us to the White House for a very small intimate dinner,” he said. “And we had a wonderful time – great food, great company, very inspiring.” And then, Saban dropped the bombshell.
Lara Logan and a producer, Max McClellan, involved with a flawed “60 Minutes” report on Benghazi that drew criticism will both take a leave of absence from CBS News, according to an internal memo from CBS News Chairman Jeff Fager issued Tuesday. “As Executive Producer, I am responsible for what gets on the air. I pride myself in catching almost everything, but this deception got through and it shouldn’t have,” Fager said in a memo to staff. “When faced with a such an error, we must use it as an opportunity to make our broadcast even stronger. We are making adjustments
According to radical activist and Weather Underground co-founder Bill Ayers, American leftists were duped by prevailing conservative narratives into believing that President Obama himself was a tried-and-true leftist, and not the “middle-of-the-road” politician he declares himself to be. Speaking at a Washington, D.C., book store last Friday, Ayers explained that despite living near Obama in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood and crossing paths many times during their activism, he never viewed the future president as a dedicated “leftist” like himself. The remarks came in response to a question about whether Ayers ever doubted Obama’s credentials as a true “progressive” or “man of the
A conservative group’s ad thanking Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) for his efforts to defund the Affordable Care Act is set to air this week during the televised broadcast of multiple National Football League games. The video ad, created by the Conservative Campaign Committee, praises the Texan senator for “step[ping] forward” to take on the “disastrous Obamacare scheme” by “doing everything he could to stop Obamacare before it could hurt Americans.” The ad features video clips of MSNBC’s Chris Matthews and Joe Scarborough calling Cruz a “political terrorist” and “stupid,” respectively, underscoring the CCC’s belief that Cruz “withstood the criticism” and
The Hollywood community rallied on behalf of then-Sen. Barack Obama in 2008 despite the politician´s lack of credentials. The proof he could heal the partisan divide and deliver on his lofty promises existed only in the minds of his starry-eyed supporters. Five years later, some of the president´s Hollywood boosters are resorting to pure fiction to prop up a failing administration. Last week hip hop mogul Russell Simmons rallied Obama´s base around his "signature" health care debacle, claiming ObamaCare had "already saved hundreds of thousands, if not millions of lives." The legislation´s web site is a tech disaster of comical proportions, and few folks
According to an in-depth and potentially game-changing expose´ in The Hollywood Reporter, the credit you see at the end of movies and television shows that reassures with "No Animals Were Harmed," is nothing close to reliable. Corruption, cover-ups, and outright dishonesty plague an American Humane Association (AHA) that has apparently allowed itself to be co-opted by a Hollywood that is much more concerned with getting it on film than protecting innocent animals. THR´s reporting is filled with report after report of individual animal abuse and horrifying negligence. Dead horses (HBO´s Luck, Spielberg´s War Horse), punched dogs (Disney´s Eight Below),
Proponents of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) often insist that the new standards are not a federal takeover of education. Actually, Common Core supporters could be right in one sense: Common Core is not so much about a nationalization of education as it is part of a world-wide initiative that may ultimately serve to make American values and practices secondary to global sharing. Writing at Crisis Magazine, journalist Mary Jo Anderson asserts that Common Core is nothing less than the latest attempt by the U.N. to impose on the United States a globalist perspective with the utopian goals of worldwide
Democrats often accuse Republicans of wanting to kill the elderly. Rep. Alan Grayson even once smeared the GOP’s health reform plan as “Die quickly.” But now the Democrats may be able to do what they accuse Republicans, baselessly, of wanting to do. The Senate Democrats’ decision to nuke minority filibusters allows President Obama to pack one of the most controversial boards created by Obamacare, according to the Hill. The filibuster vote could also make it easier for Obama to fill the healthcare law’s controversial cost-cutting board, another big advantage for the president. Known as IPAB, the panel has no members yet is meant
This wasn´t supposed to happen. Just 11 months after President Obama made the environment and climate change his top priority in the Inaugural Address, green energy firms are facing abandonment and even fines from his administration, now viewed as cozying up to Big Oil. Two major events occurred this month that has the green industry yelling “sell out” at the White House. First, the administration abruptly abandoned its promise to demand that more biofuels be used to make gas from renewable sources like corn and grasses, a major blow to farmers and biotech execs who saw the president´s Inaugural Address promises as
The New York Times gave another warm, huggy article to gay author Colm Toibin’s vicious anti-Christian “Testament of Mary” in the Sunday Book Review. They’ve praised it as a book, they’ve praised it as a play. On Sunday, they praised it as an audio book, with the bizarre claim of a Christ-denying Mary voiced by ...Meryl Streep. Times theatre critic Charles Isherwood gave the rave for Streep, "practically a religious icon herself — or an aesthetic one, anyway. She’s virtually been sanctified as the Greatest Film Actress of her generation...Doesn’t it seem inevitable that Meryl Streep would one day play the
Everyone has a favorite recipe, find it in the back of a kitchen drawer, call your mom, see if you still have that dog-eared copy of the Joy of Cooking. It´s on the back of an old electric bill stuck inside the back cover. Find it and post it for all your LCom friends. If you have a special request let us know, someone can find it somewhere.
Conservatives have for years attempted to put our finger upon precisely why Barack Obama strikes us as queer in precisely the way he does. There is an alienness about him, which in the fever swamps is expressed in all that ridiculous Kenyan-Muslim hokum, but his citizen-of-the-world shtick is strictly sophomore year — the great globalist does not even speak a foreign language. Obama has been called many things — radical, socialist — labels that may have him dead to rights at the phylum level but not down at his genus or species. His social circle includes an alarming number of
Noel Ignatiev, a professor at Massachusetts College of Art, has for years advocated the total elimination of Caucasians. During his final lecture before retirement last Monday, he told his white male students "you don’t deserve to live. You are a cancer, you’re a disease." NOEL IGNATIEV: If you are a white male, you don’t deserve to live. You are a cancer, you’re a disease, white males have never contributed anything positive to the world! They only murder, exploit and oppress non-whites! At least a white woman can have sex with a black man and make a brown baby but what can a
Appearing on Arsenio Hall’s talk show over the weekend, ?Jesse Jackson defended both President Obama, who he said has faced heretofore unseen advsersity as president, as well as Jackson’s embattled son, who he said “had the best voting record in the Congress” before he was sentenced by unfair laws. On the president, Jackson praised him for “serving us well against the most hostility an American president has ever had” and “more attempts to derail his legislation then in the history of the country.” Between job creation and his efforts in Iraq, President Obama has “maintained a kind of dignity” without stooping
Pure, sweet, schadenfreudean goodness from Politico. See now why I think there’s a chance that those new Iran sanctions pass with veto-proof majorities? Turns out, after three years and a half years of development plus two months of frantic triage to Healthcare.gov, Democrats are finally ready to hold the White House accountable for its giant O-Care fark-up. A little. “The president and his team have repeatedly assured us that the system will be working by Dec. 1. That’s when I start looking at what we have to do in our oversight function to hold the administration accountable for making it work.” Rep.
Normally, I don´t traffic much in gossip, but the case of Valerie Jarrett is different. She may well be the most powerful woman in America, and almost certainly is the most powerful member of the Obama administration. The adjective "shadowy" definitely applies to this woman who enjoys her power through her relationship to the President, having never been confirmed by Senate hearings. Her title as "Senior Adviser" to the President barely scratches the surface of her real power. President Obama has time for his 150+ rounds of golf, his extensive television watching, and his expertise on March Madness bracketology because ValJar,
Located just 50 miles off the U.S. coast, north of New York City, sits Petra, a heart-shaped island that now belongs to Brad Pitt, after Angelina reportedly shelled out £12.2million to buy it for his 50th birthday. Pitt is apparently an architect fanatic, so when Jolie discovered that the island´s only two homes were designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, she was sold. Pitt once said,“When I discovered Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Frank Lloyd Wright, it changed my life.” A source revealed that “as soon as Angelina heard the island was on the market she arranged a viewing. She was really impressed.
Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman (R) left the door open to another presidential run during a Monday panel in New Hampshire. Asked whether he ever thinks about running again — Huntsman dropped out of the 2012 Republican primary after finishing third in New Hampshire — he suggested he hadn´t ruled out the option. He closed a long response to the question, posed at Saint Anselm College, by saying: "Which is a long way of saying that I love public service. I´ll always be committed to public service. And as an itinerant public servant, from time to time, it´s hard to know where
SANFORD, Fla. — George Zimmerman had five guns and more than 100 rounds of ammunition with him when deputies arrested him earlier this month on domestic violence charges, according to court documents released Tuesday. A search warrant made public by the Seminole County court clerk shows that Zimmerman had a 12-gauge shotgun, an AR-15 assault rifle and three handguns when he was arrested Nov. 18 at his girlfriend´s house. The girlfriend, Samantha Scheibe, told deputies that Zimmerman pointed a shotgun at her during an argument and also used it to smash her coffee table. Zimmerman is free on $9,000 bail on charges
"Trust is like virginity: once you lose it it´s hard to get it back." So spoke pollster John Zogby, commenting on his latest poll on President Obama´s handling of his office. Quoted by Paul Bedard in the Washington Examiner: "Most ominous for Mr. Obama is that 57 percent now disapprove of his job. That is his worst number yet. This includes 57 percent of men and 55 percent of women; 51 percent of moderates, 24 percent of liberals and 24 percent of Democrats; 66 percent of independents and 40 percent of Hispanics. Meanwhile, a separate poll by CNN/ORC International found: 53%
Maybe it was something about what they served in the White House mess in the 1990s. Or perhaps it´s what happens to baby boomer Democrats more than a decade after leaving office. For whatever the reason former vice president Al Gore has gone vegan, just like the president with whom he once served. Gore´s recent decision to forgo animal products surfaced as an offhand reference in a Forbes magazine piece about Hampton Creek Foods, an upscale vegan product line carried in Whole Foods. Ryan Mac´s article, which posted Saturday, chronicled how wealthy investors including Bill Gates, Tom Steyer and Vinod Khosla
Alec Baldwin has been fired by MSNBC, sources say. The rage-aholic’s weekly show, “Up Late With Alec Baldwin,” has been canceled because of the actor’s foul-mouthed rant at a photographer he called a nasty name. “The decision has been made. He’s gone,” an insider at the cable channel told me. “The [parent company] Comcast guys have decided. Word is spreading through the building.” Baldwin’s dismissal was decided on partly because of his diva-like behavior toward co-workers, a source said.
