President Barack Obama will not attend next month´s event marking the 150th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln´s Gettysburg Address in Pennsylvania. Officials at Gettysburg National Military Park said Wednesday that U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell will represent the administration the Nov. 19 sesquicentennial. Jewell and Pulitzer Prize-winning historian James McPherson will share the role of keynote speaker. Other events include a reading of the Gettysburg address by a Lincoln portrayer. Pennsylvania Gov. He "didn´t know" what the Gettysburg Address was. Or who gave it. When asked about the Gettysburg Address, he said "I´m not sure where that is. What´s the zip code?"

Patriotic Americans who understand our history will be there.
Barry´s crowds are heavily screened to weed out people such as this. Only glassy-eyed 0bamatons get to hear him read his magic teleprompter in closed venues. No way in hell is he doing anything like this again for the rest of his term, I think. Same reason he skipped the World Series last night.

He’s such a piece of $hite. Gettysburg is perhaps 20 minutes from WH on Marine 1.

He cares nothing for our history and traditions. 150th anniversary of perhaps one of history’s great oratorical moments and he cannot find the time?? Perhaps he’ll be listening to an iPod full of his greatest lies.

Both bear the title "President of the United States", but the similarities end there. Licoln was a man of sigular integrity and Obama has no integrity. Lincoln made the hard decisions and took complete responsibility for their failures while sharing praise for their successes. Obama avoids decisions, leaving them to his staff or Valarie Jarrett. If they succeed, he takes a victory lap while patting himself on the soulder. If they fail he blames everyone but himself. Lincoln truly love the Union and Obama is doing his level best to divide and ultimately destroy it. In all his speeches, Lincoln used the personal pronoun "I" very sparingly, if at all. Obama uses it more than any other president in the history of the country. Lincoln was a workaholic when it came to matters of state and would fequently work well into the night. Obama is lazy and doesn´t work at all. The only thing he devotes most of his time to is golf.

I´m sure Obama has a real good reason for not attending this Remembrance. He probably has to go to a fund raiser or an Obamacare rally or maybe something really importan, 18 holes of golf.

It is good that Obama (PBUH) will not speak at Gettysburg.
Regardless of political views, any speech there should be totally devoid of lies, political sub tones or contempt for the country. Also it should not be read from a teleprompter.

Obama (PBUH) is incapable of an appropriate speech. All proper sentiments for a Gettysburg memorial speech are completely beyond his understanding.

#5 ~ My great grandfather fought at Gettysburg as well; his name is on the Pennsylvania monument. I was upset when I heard President Sgt ´Mushroom´ Schultz was invited but ecstatic now to learn he has turned down the invitation. After all it would be inappropriate for him to compare himself to Lincoln in that setting.
Think of it...... the Gettysburg Address is Lincoln´s signature speech. Obama´s signature line is "If you like your healthcare you can keep it".

What the article does not explain is that the President has been scheduled to be the keynote speaker for a year. The annual reenactor parade (5000+) that should have been on 11/16 was moved to the following Saturday just to accomodate him. Every hotel/motel in a 50 mile radius has been sold out for months. He inconvenienced thousands and now won´t even be showing up. I have no words to describe this person that are acceptable for this great site.

I also had an ancestor who was killed during the Battle of Gettysburg with the 2nd NH Infantry at the Peach Orchard and the Emmitsburg Road. They think that he is buried as an unknown in the NH plot at the National Soldier´s Cemetery.

Obama has a history of only showing up at liberal college campuses where his crew can arrange for a friendly audience of naive college kids and other liberal believers to be anywhere near Obama with all Republican political enemies shut out as Obama goes about riding his teleprompter.

It´s too scary for Obama to be on a real battlefield standing on an open air platform at the monument in the National Soldier´s Cemetery without his crew being able to screen the thousands of Americans of uncertain political affiliation who would be in sight of Obama.

Mr. Christie, a Republican, has insisted that his staff and his campaign had nothing to do with the lane closings, and said that they were done as part of a traffic study. The decision in 1967 to feature a harpsichord behind Linda Ronstadt on "Different Drum" wasn´t a stretch. Throughout the decade, the high-strung keyboard was enjoying a renaissance, appearing on dozens of pop hits and soundtracks—including the Beatles´ "Fixing a Hole," the Beach Boys´ "God Only Knows," "The Addams Family" TV theme and "The Odd Couple" film score. Reasons for using the fussy instrument by rock, pop and R&B producers varied. Some sought a novelty touch while others wanted to be in step with London´s colorful Edwardian fashion trend and the psychedelic scene that came with it. But the harpsichord´s ´60s

The result was a government assault on the ranch- including snipers with assault rifles, SUV’s, helicopters, airplanes and over 200 heavily armed troops. No

Look, everyone loves Sean Connery, particularly Sean Connery. That’s why he plays Sean Connery in every movie he’s in. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes. Connery just has to show up on time. In economics you devalue a currency by printing too much of it. In film you

Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren wrote in her forthcoming book that she was “hurt” and “angry” by 2012 reporting on her fraudulent claim to Native American heritage. “What really threw me, though, were the constant attacks from the other side,” Warren wrote in her book “A Fighting Chance.” “I would almost persuade myself that I was starting to get the hang of full-throttle campaigning and then — bam! Out of left field, the state Republican Party, or the Brown campaign, or some blogger, would launch a rocket at me,” Warren wrote, adding, ”I was stunned by the attacks.” This reporter (blogger?) reported extensively

WASHINGTON — Former President Jimmy Carter joined fellow Nobel laureates Wednesday in opposing Keystone XL, insisting that approving the pipeline would trigger “more climate upheaval” around the globe. In an open letter to President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry, Carter and the nine other Nobel Peace Prize winners bluntly warned the leaders: “Your decision on the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline will define your climate legacy.” The missive, published as an advertisement in Politico, represents the first time Carter has taken a position on the $5.4 billion project and makes him the first former president to come

President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'

After presenting at the Academy Awards this year, Kim Novak didn’t want to leave her house. The Hitchcock screen siren, 81, was too humiliated to venture from her home near the Rogue River in Oregon. She read the cruel posts and Internet snark about her appearance, and it was just too much. “It got to me like it gets kids and teenagers,” she told the Associated Press. The “Vertigo” actress, considered one of the great beauties in her day, posted a note on her Facebook wall Thursday, acknowledging that she’d gotten fat injections in her face and addressing her halted

With Easter soon approaching, the Rev. Al Sharpton on Wednesday drew parallels between the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the resurrection of President Obama’s political career. Joining the “Tom Joyner Morning Show,” Mr. Sharpton said that his message for this Easter is that “no matter what the world may do to you unfairly, no matter how you’re crucified — nailed to the cross at home, or in your personal relationships, or on the job — that you can rise if you don’t lose yourself during the hard times and the challenges.” The reverend went on to say that Christ endured so much humiliation and unearned suffering leading up to his death,

FORT WORTH — Democratic gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis will undergo neck surgery today, her campaign said Tuesday. “After experiencing shoulder and right arm pain in recent weeks, Sen. Davis will have a routine surgical procedure to remove bone spurs and degenerative discs that are creating compression on the nerves in her neck,” campaign spokesman Zac Petkanas said in a statement Tuesday. “This is a common issue experienced by runners and endurance athletes,” he said. Davis, of Fort Worth, will undergo the outpatient surgery at the Fort Worth Brain and Spine Institute. Dr. Thomas Ellis will perform the

The cash infusion by the federal government is actually going to help the city pay pensions, even though they´re playing a kind of shell game with the money. As for "blight removal," perhaps they could start with city hall. Reuters: Michigan officials and President Barack Obama´s Administration are discussing a plan to free up $100 million in federal money to aid Detroit´s retired city workers, the Detroit Free Press reported on Tuesday. Citing two people familiar with the talks, the newspaper said the talks were centered around federal money flowing to Michigan for blight removal. Under the plan, $100 million
