CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: But, Juan, what he did say was, if you like what you have, you can keep it, period. When you add the word period, what you mean is there is no context, there are no percentages, 1%, 5%, 100%. There is no extenuations, there are no explanations, it´s period. And that´s the reason it passed, Jonah is right. That was an extremely important element of the law. That is a flat out lie. Did he know it? Did he he not? I suspect he did, it´s possible that he didn´t. What I find remarkable is that the president
Comments: He always has! And the media has allowed him to get away with his lies and misrepresentations for many, many years. This is just normal behavior for an Alinskyite.
Krauthammer, the psychiatrist, neglected to add that Obama´s thinking his rhetoric trumps reality is a clear sign of psychosis. Another psychiatrist, M. Scott Peck, would have called it "magical thinking."
It also appears to be a universe where willful, destructive chaos is allowed with no real punishment for those who are found guilty.
In fact, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act should be repealed...it is bad law. It is impossible to actually implement and will never provide what it´s title implies.(unless of course one redefines what these words mean).
This country repealed prohibition, and we can repeal this "settled?" law, too.
Krauthammer continues to state that Obama is ´smart´. He just refuses to admit he was wrong on everything when it came to Obama.
How does a man who benefitted from the best medical care to save his life and enable him to lead a productive life support a man who proudly stood up and demanded that medical care be denied to a baby born alive following an abortion attempt.
Does Dr. Krauthammer consider his life more worthy of saving?
This “magical thinking”, a hallmark of psychosis, is what has allowed socialists to continue to believe in the possibility of Utopia, despite multitudes of real-life negative experiments, over the last ten decades.
The fact that Obama can stand behind the lectern and repeat these fantasies is proof of his mental impairment. And the fact that Leftist Democrats can continue to believe in him is proof that Liberalism is a mental disorder.
I´ll bet my food stamps and unemployment check that Krauthammer voted for Obama once and possibly twice. I don´t pay attention to Krauthammer or Bill O´Reilly anyway. They are/were duped by Obama and both want to bow out slowly to regain credibility which they lost.
Leftist fantasy ideology is all about rhetoric over reality. Obama´s only distinction is to have taken the rhetoric to such an extreme that the denial of reality is obvious to just about everybody. But Leftism itself is nothing but a chronic feud with reality. Reality is not good enough for Leftists. Reality is not legitimate for Leftists. Their personal wishes, values, desires and beliefs possess a fundamental superiority to mere reality, which is defective at best, malicious at worst. This is why Leftists think nothing about lying or otherwise misrepresenting reality to achieve the goals of their fantasy ideology. For Leftists, reality is always in scare quotes, e.g. "reality."
Obama is really just another campus Leftist who has never had to defend his ideas nor test them against reality. He got a pass because he was black - and he has been able to coast and rise to the top on nothing but BS. Until now. This could be Barack Obama´s first significant brush with reality. It must be a painful and confusing experience.
Well said, #14. I´d add that George Soros saw all that and used it as leverage to the Obama presidency, for which he is no doubt profiting endlessly. Obama stole this second term--and now his evil dictatorship--on the backs of the LSM and half-wit voters.
The man is on record as saying he believes his own BS. Direct quote. So yes -- he lives in a world of rhetoric, where little to nothing he says should be taken remotely seriously. Outright lies are merely means to an end, and being utterly wrong at the expense of countelss others...well, that´s just the way it goes sometimes.
Obama has an astonishingly empty paper trail. He´s going around issuing promissory notes on the future that he can´t possibly redeem. Promises to heal the world with negotiations with the likes of Iran´s president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Promises to transcend the conundrums of entitlement reform that require real and painful trade-offs and that have eluded solution for a generation. Promises to fund his other promises by a rapid withdrawal from an unpopular war -- with the hope, I suppose, that the (presumed) resulting increase in American prestige would compensate for the chaos to follow.
Democrats are worried that the Obama spell will break between the time of his nomination and the time of the election, and deny them the White House. My guess is that he can maintain the spell just past Inauguration Day. After which will come the awakening. It will be rude.
Of course it doesn´t sound like someone in the tank for 0bama, and that´s why I can´t reconcile the Two Krauthammers.
There are two of them. Maybe he needs a psychiatrist. Doctor, heal thyself.
Krauthammer is to one who said time and again, during the first campaign that we had nothing to fear from an 0bama presidency, and now admits he had to hear 0bama´s fist State of the Union address to understand who and what 0bama is.
"God bless America? No, no, no! God **** America" wasn´t a clue.
"Bill Ayers was just a guy in the neighborhood" wasn´t a clue.
"Nothing sweeter than the sound of the Muslim evening call to prayer" wasn´t a clue.
And that´s why I can´t reconcile the Two Krauthammers.
By now everyone who has a head on his or her shoulders should recognize that Obama is a man of the extreme left. As such, to him the end justifies the means. He knows that as the first black President he has a lot more flexibility as far as outright lying to the American public is concerned then any past white President would ever have.
In that respect the liberal so-called mainstream media will never really take him to task, and risk offending the black population groups throughout the USA that the liberal and progressive Democrats need, as far as their votes are concerned, to win future elections. As far as the Democrats in Congress are concerned, Obama is golden, and has a complete pass from ever being impeached no matter what he says or does, as they also are not going to risk offending those black population groups who always vote Democratic. It will be like that until Obama leaves office.
I have heard and read more than simply one quote of Dr. K´s concerning Obama. Read and listen to everything he´s said about him--he is very complimentary, David Brooks and Noonan-style, of Obama and I would not be surprised if K voted for Obama, in fact I´d be surprised if he didn´t, if you take everything he´s said and written as a whole.
Thanks for another side, #17. Boy, a lot of you say you don´t pay any attention to Dr. K, but sure seem to remember what he said 5 or 6 years ago. I wonder if you hold a grudge that long on a family member who doesn´t agree with you.
WASHINGTON -- A longtime adviser to the U.S. Director of National Intelligence has resigned after the government learned he has worked since 2010 as a paid consultant for Huawei Technologies Ltd., the Chinese technology company the U.S. has condemned as an espionage threat, The Associated Press has learned. Theodore H. Moran, a respected expert on China´s international investment and professor at Georgetown University, had served since 2007 as adviser to the intelligence director´s advisory panel on foreign investment in the United States. Moran also was an adviser to the National Intelligence Council,
DEVELOPING: – An elderly U.S. tourist and war veteran detained for more than a month for alleged hostile acts against North Korea has been deported from that country. North Korean state media said Saturday 85-year-old Merrill Newman was released because he had apologized for his alleged crimes during the Korean War and because of his age and medical condition. It was not clear if his confession was coerced. He was taken off a plane Oct. 26 by North Korean authorities while preparing to leave the country after a 10-day tour. Vice President Joe Biden is currently in South Korea on
At the "Fast Food Forward" protest on Thursday, Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) demanded that Pres. Obama sign an executive order bypassing Congress and unilaterally raising the federal minimum wage. Rep. Ellison told the crowd that they should join him in demanding that Pres. Obama skip seeking Congressional approval and raise the minimum wage on his own - and that he sent the president a letter on Wednesday presenting his demand: "We in Congress will try to raise the minimum wage. We got opponents on the other side of the aisle who say that there shouldn´t be no minimum wage. So, we
Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan joined WSJ Live host Mary Kissel on Friday where they discussed the ongoing issues associated with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Noonan said she found the way in which this administration has handled this crisis has been among the “oddest” she’s seen. Noonan added that she would like to see “humility” from President Barack Obama rather than combativeness. Kissel began by asking about the “puzzle” of the president’s response to the crisis surrounding the ACA’s faltering website. “I look at the White House the past two months, I think the president and
Another leftist lets the mask slip. Jonathan Alter believes that violent criminals imprisoned for their crimes are political prisoners. He and Al Sharpton talked to themselves on MSNBC today. Sharpton asked Alter what America might learn from the example of Nelson Mandela. Reasonable answers to this question include but are not limited to: Don’t abuse political power to punish your enemies; don’t hold on to political power forever; choose your wife or husband a bit more carefully; don’t seek to divide when unity serves the nation better. Alter wants America to learn a different lesson. None of the above. Alter
As Congress gets ready to battle on immigration reform next year, it´s important to take a look at who will help enforce and shape any kind of immigration overhaul. Former Department of Justice Assistant Attorney General and radical open borders attorney Tom Perez was safely put into the position of Labor Secretary by President Obama and the Senate earlier this year, knowing the Department of Justice is safely locked down as pro-amnesty. Perez has a long history of advocating not for American workers, but for illegal alien workers and made sure the Department of Justice was stacked with pro-amnesty attorneys
Barack Obama delivered a statement on the passing of Nelson Mandela yesterday. During his speech he told about his first public speech on apartheid at Occidental College. “I am one of the countless millions who drew inspiration from Nelson Mandela’s life. My very first political action, the first thing I ever did that involved an issue or a policy or politics, was a protest against apartheid. I studied his words and his writings.” But, Barack Obama forgot to mention that his speech at Occidental was sponsored by Marxists and Weatherman terrorists. Barack Obama’s first public speech was at an Occidental College event
Rep. Matt Cartwright, a member of President Obama´s Obamacare "strike team," says it´s a "good thing" that people are losing their old health care plans: "Because a lot of those people, they did have policies that didn´t meet the minimum standards. That´s just not a theoretical discussion. There´s a reason you have minimum standards. There are people out there who have insurance that´s really an illusion of coverage. They have immense deductibles, they have annual and lifetime caps. There´s so many people out there with what I call phony insurance policies and the fact that they´re going to lose those
Fresh off his interview with President Barack Obama, MSNBC host Chris Matthews appeared on Now with Alex Wagner to review what the president said and to express his thoughts on the passing of former South African President Nelson Mandela. Matthews linked the GOP to South Africa’s white apartheid advocates and declared that those who facilitated the transition to Mandela’s presidency were more patriotic and had greater regard for their country than the Republicans in Congress. Matthews acknowledged a point that Rev. Al Sharpton had made earlier in this broadcast where he noted that the last apartheid president, F.W. de Klerk, recognized
The Obama administration knew as early as August that the small-business portal on healthcare.gov would not be ready by the Oct. 1 launch, but delayed admitting those problems until Nov. 27, according to documents released by House Republicans on Friday. In one colorful email exchange in mid-August, Henry Chao, the administration official charged with the development of the online insurance marketplaces, expressed frustration with delays from the private contractor working on the website. When the contractor suggested a new date of Nov. 15 for the launch of the small-business portal of the website, Chao bluntly asked: “Can we sign this
The White House dismissed a report suggesting that President Obama and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius did not meet ahead of the botched rollout of Obamacare. Obama press secretary Jay Carney said the claim was based on a “ridiculously false premise.” “Kathleen Sebelius comes frequently and she meets frequently with the president,” he said. “She’s here a lot and meets with the president with regularity.” “It’s safe to say Secretary Sebelius spent a lot of time here,” he added, noting the administration’s focus on health care reform. The report from Politico Magazine noted that a Government Accountability Institute analysis of the president’s
There was a tale of two Christmases on TV last night. Over at NBC, Carrie Underwood led the cast of “Sound of Music Live!” in a joyous rendition of the Julie Andrews classic. While no one involved in the production is likely to win an Emmy anytime soon, the singing was flawless and it was a squeaky clean program that lived up to its “TV G” rating. Over at Fox it was another story. Glee’s “Previously Unaired Christmas” should have stayed true to its name and remained a lost script, considering it was complete with a bisexual Santa, transgender Virgin
I have never been much of a conspiracy theorist. For me it was always Oswald by himself from the Texas School Book Depository and nothing in the intervening fifty years has disabused me of this notion. For the most part, I’m an Occam’s Razor kind of guy — the most obvious explanation is likely to be true. (Snip) To put it bluntly, Occam’s Razor has moved. Things that were once possibilities now seem almost certainties to me. Principal among those is that Obama’s academic records are perpetually unavailable for a reason — and that reason is most likely that they reveal
Last summer on his $100 million family tour of Africa, Barack Obama hoped for a priceless photo op with Nelson Mandela, the ailing freedom pioneer who went from prison cell to the presidency of South Africa. Mandela´s family suggested that wouldn’t happen. So, the Obamas did a photo op in Mandela´s former prison cell. Which Obama’s White House quickly tweeted upon word of the icon´s passing at 95. [Skip] But Obama was also caught staring at television coverage of Mandela’s passing, which became Obama’s Photo of the Day.
Hardly a week goes by without Hillary Clinton receiving another award. Last month she was named a “Global Champion” by the International Medical Corps, received the American Patriot Award at the National Defense University Foundation and the Hermandad Award from the Mexican American Leadership Initiative. [Snip] At this rate, if a bunch of elderly left-wing Swedes toss her the Nobel Peace Prize early on, the way they did to Obama, it will barely rate mention among all the other glittering trophies that have been bestowed on a woman whose only actual accomplishment was being married to a crooked governor with
A stunning new study unveiled on Fox News´ Hannity finds that President Barack Obama’s White House calendar records just one face-to-face meeting between Obama and his Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in the more than three-and-a-half years leading up to the disastrous Obamacare launch. The startling statistic comes from a new Government Accountability Institute (GAI) analysis of Obama’s own official White House calendar, as well as the Politico presidential calendar, and raises new questions about Obama’s executive leadership and management throughout the implementation of his singular legislative achievement. More alarming still, the president’s schedule lists 277 private
Speaker John Boehner said his party should support gay Republican congressional candidates and urged his colleagues to “be a little more sensitive” when running against women. “Some of our members just aren’t as sensitive as they ought to be,” Boehner said. When asked if he thinks his party should support gay candidates, Boehner simply said: “I do.”
In February, the Bush family’s personal emails were hacked by Guccifer, a hacker who uncovered photographs of former President George H. W. Bush in a hospital bed and George W. Bush’s oil paintings in the process. It seems Guccifer has struck again, this time targeting former President Bill Clinton and the Clinton Library. The hacker has reportedly uncovered doodles of Clinton drawing on what were, at the time, classified documents. Among the doodles is apparently a picture of a penis. The document uncovered is a briefing of the strategic measures the United States could take prior Clinton’s decision to intervene in
Denver - A baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex ceremony must serve gay couples despite his religious beliefs or face fines, a judge said Friday. The order from administrative law judge Robert N. Spencer said Masterpiece Cakeshop in suburban Denver discriminated against a couple "because of their sexual orientation by refusing to sell them a wedding cake for their same-sex marriage." The order says the cake-maker must "cease and desist from discriminating" against gay couples. Although the judge did not impose fines in this case, the business will face penalties if it continues to turn away gay
Amid an array of “knock-out” attacks against a number of Jews in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood, a city councilwoman pointed to the success of the Jewish community as triggering the aggression. Councilwoman-elect Laurie Cumbo emphasized that while she “admire[s] the Jewish community immensely” for its work ethic, black teens may see it differently. “While I personally regard this level of tenacity, I also recognize that for others, the accomplishments of the Jewish community triggers feelings of resentment, and a sense that Jewish success is not also their success,” Cumbo, who was recently elected, wrote in a letter. Chief among the issues
On Tuesday, The Boston Globe reported that Onyango “Omar” Obama, uncle to President Obama, says that his famous nephew stayed with him while a student at Harvard Law School in the 80s, in contradiction to The White House’s contention that the two had never met. At Thursday’s White House daily briefing, Press Secretary Jay Carney confirmed that the President had, in fact, briefly stayed with “his father’s half-brother,” as Carney described Omar Obama, and that no one had actually asked the President about it when the White House initially commented. The 69 year-old Omar Obama has been facing deportation back
The world premiere of the “Ballad for Trayvon Martin for Orchestra and Jazz Quartet” is set for tonight. Princeton University’s director of its jazz-studies program composed the work in honor of the Florida teen. Anthony D. J. Branker told the Star-Ledger that the piece is intended to “be a form of healing” after Martin’s death and the controversial court case that followed it. The ballad, which will be performed by the university’s official orchestra and jazz ensemble, is intended to be a tribute to victims of racial violence, Branker explained. He hopes that the performance will be “one that speaks to
Former President Bill Clinton shared an anecdote regarding Nelson Mandela and the aftermath of his impeachment Friday on CNN. Clinton revealed shortly after the “impeachment business” finished on Capitol Hill, Rep. Henry Hyde (R., Ill.) who managed the impeachment trial requested a meeting at the White House. The former president granted the meeting out of lessons of humility and forgiveness he learned from Mandela, he said: BILL CLINTON: I remember one day, oh, about a month after the whole impeachment business was over, Henry Hyde, who had run the whole show, unbelievably enough, maybe a few months after, it was
WASHINGTON – A fourth straight month of solid hiring cut the U.S. unemployment rate to a five-year low of 7 percent in November, an encouraging sign for the economy. The Labor Department says employers added 203,000 jobs, nearly matching October´s revised gain of 200,000. The job gains helped lower the unemployment rate from 7.3 percent in October. The strengthening job market is likely to fuel speculation that the Federal Reserve may start to scale back its bond purchases when it meets later this month. The economy has now generated an average of 204,000 jobs from August through November. That´s up
