Obamacare is imploding. Yet, for liberals, all is not lost; the site just has to clear several hurdles before any semblance of functionality can be seen. As Jim Geraghty of National Review wrote yesterday, fixing the website is the easiest of the tasks laid before the Obama administration. Here are the seven things required, according to Geraghty. 1: "The site has to work. Believe it or not, this is the easiest one." 2: "People have to decide to log in, overcoming A) people´s disinterest in thinking about health insurance any more than they have to and B) people´s natural tendency to procrastinate." 3: "They
Once again...it´s not about healthcare...it IS about CONTROL - the government´s control over every aspect of your life.
Acknowledge it, understand it, and keep saying it. Whether the website works now or not isn´t their concern. Getting every American into their master control database - by whatever method it takes - IS. And our health systems encompasses every aspect of our lives, in one way or another.
The political left is always harping about extreme weather and global warming. It goes together, like Red Bull and Vodka, for these people. They can’t talk about global temperatures anymore since the UK Meteorological Office reported in October 2012 that they’ve stagnated for the past 16 years. So, they’ve pivoted towards extreme weather. Mother Jones posted a story last September about a study from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) that linked extreme weather to global climate change. Yet, NOAA posted Monday that the 2013 hurricane season was its calmest in 30 years. Additionally, we’ve seen the quietest tornado season in
Right now, humanity is engaged in an epic battle against fast-adapting and merciless predators. No, zombies are not beating down doors to tear chunks of flesh out of the living. Rather, humanity is being hunted by deadly pathogenic bacteria that have gained resistance to antibiotics. And thanks to the peculiar incentives that drive the pharmaceutical industry, it looks like the cavalry may be a long time in coming. To understand the current state of the antibiotics market, we have to go back millennia. Humans have co-existed with bacteria throughout our history. They live in our bodies from birth to death. It’s estimated
Ka-ching! Little Miss Moneybags. Probable Dem presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is lugging home big simoleons these days. ? To wit: Sneed hears rumbles that Hillary may have outstripped her loquacious hubby Bill in the speech department by taking home a hefty $450,000 fee for addressing the Chicago Mercantile Exchange’s Global Financial Leadership Conference last week in Naples, Fla. The Trotter story . . .
Philadelphia – Mayor Michael Nutter was joined by other city leaders Monday evening in an attempt to stop the so-called “Knockout Game” from spreading to Philadelphia. Nutter was joined by Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey, as they discussed the so-called game in which a person is randomly assaulted, while another person films it with their phone or other device. With cases reported in other U.S. cities, including New York, Mayor Nutter says the city is working to stay ahead of the problem, but needs parents to do their part. “This is not a game. You can seriously injure or possibly kill someone. Your child’s
The Associated Press and Al-Monitor kept US-Iran nuclear containment talks secret until after they had reached their conclusion this past weekend. The AP claims they didn´t run with the story because they couldn´t get he White House or State Department to confirm the secret talks were occurring: The AP was tipped to the first U.S.-Iranian meeting in March shortly after it occurred, but the White House and State Department disputed elements of the account and the AP could not confirm the meeting. The AP learned of further indications of secret diplomacy in the fall and pressed the White House and other officials
True story. A couple of years back, I was walking home at night on North Capitol Street here in Washington, D.C., when two dudes randomly assaulted me before running away without stealing anything. At the time, I didn´t think it was all that strange—I´ve lived in urban areas all my life, and plenty of people I know have been victims of anonymous street crime. The good news is that urban crime rates have been trending downward since I´ve been about 9 years old, so we´re making important progress in this regard. The weird thing was that after I blogged briefly about
Some news organizations are refuting the existence of an alleged phenomenon known as the "knockout game" that has been the subject of media warnings in recent weeks. According to reports by CNN, the Today show, USA TODAY and others, the game takes place when young people randomly assault strangers in an attempt to knock them out with one punch. The attacks are leading to arrests, more officers on the streets and warnings for vigilance among the public, law enforcement officials and victims advocates told USA TODAY. In New Haven, Conn., police spokesman David Hartman said police are investigating six incidents
The National Science Foundation spent $82,525 on a one-year grant to study on the self-defense of bioluminescent millipedes. “Animals use myriad strategies to avoid predation -- camouflage, spines, and toxins are among a few. Animals that are toxic, inedible, or otherwise noxious often advertise this by a warning signal, for example the yellow and black stripes of a yellowjacket or the rattle of a snake,” the award abstract said. “Bioluminescent millipedes, known only from California, are defended with cyanide and their green-blue glow is hypothesized to be a nocturnal warning signal,” the award abstract added. “In this project, the evolutionary relationships of millipedes
More than 20 percent of the 14-year-old boys in the United States have been diagnosed at some point in their lives with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), according to a newly released study by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The study also said more than 20 percent of 11-year-old boys had been diagnosed with ADHD at some point in their lives. The study indicated that American boys were 125 percent more likely than girls to be diagnosed with ADHD, and that boys were 127 percent more likely than girls to be medicated for it. 13.3 percent of American 11-year-old boys are being
"Iran´s Nuclear Triumph" roared the headline of the Wall Street Journal editorial. William Kristol is again quoting Churchill on Munich. Since the news broke Saturday night that Iran had agreed to a six-month freeze on its nuclear program, we are back in the Sudetenland again. Why? For not only was this modest deal agreed to by the United States, but also by our NATO allies Germany, Britain and France. Russia and China are fine with it. Iran´s rivals, Turkey and Egypt, are calling it a good deal. Saudi Arabia says it "could be a first step toward a comprehensive solution for Iran´s nuclear
Everyone who thinks they know all the aspects of the Iran deal raise hands -- Secretary Kerry, put your hand down. I have no idea whether this is a good deal, a bad deal, or no deal at all. I hope it is a good deal and I hope it leads to a safer Middle East and, thus, a safer world. But I don´t know. This deal was brokered by what is known as the P5+1. That is the permanent members of the U.N. Security Council (U.S., France, Russia, China, and France) plus Germany which, as we mentioned before, lost World War II
One of the oldest notions in the history of mankind is that some people are to give orders and others are to obey. The powerful elite believe that they have wisdom superior to the masses and that they´ve been ordained to forcibly impose that wisdom on the rest of us. Their agenda calls for an attack on the free market and what it implies — voluntary exchange. Tyrants do not trust that people acting voluntarily will do what the tyrant thinks they should do. Therefore, free markets are replaced with economic planning and regulation that is nothing less than the forcible
Those who wrote the PPACA legislation were much more brilliant than most conservatives have given them credit for. They have hidden a landmine in the way it all works that will ensure an eventual takeover of the entire health care industry by the government. Let me first clarify my professional interest. I have been a vendor of software and services to both insurance companies and providers, and therefore have a deep understanding of the health care industry and what the ACA will do to it. I do not work for any insurance companies or medical providers, nor do I own stock
Cher told her fans on Wednesday that she does not celebrate Thanksgiving. In fact, she appears to deplore the American holiday, calling in the “beginning of a great crime.” Cher said that the American settlers were guilty of taking land from native Americans who had no concept of property ownership and also intentionally infected them with smallpox. “You don’t celebrate the holiday I thought?” a fan asked Cher. “I DON’T,” Cher replied emphatically. She said that, to her, Thanksgiving is a day to see family, eat food together and watch a movie. “Not 2 celebrate the beginning of a GREAT Crime.” When asked
President Obama's weekly remarks: Hi, everybody. On behalf of all the Obamas — Michelle, Malia, Sasha, Bo, and the newest member of our family, Sunny — I want to wish you a happy and healthy Thanksgiving. We’ll be spending today just like many of you — sitting down with family and friends to eat some good food, tell stories, watch a little football and. most importantly, count our blessings. And as Americans, we have so much to be thankful for.
LEE COUNTY - The Lee County Sheriff´s Office has arrested a juvenile in connection with two random attacks reported in Lee County. Traveshia Blanks, of Fort Myers, is charged with two counts of battery on a person 65 years of age or older. On Tuesday around 3:50 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a group of people who randomly attacked an unsuspecting victim (Snip)We talked to students from nearby Cypress Lake High School who didn´t seem to think the teens did anything wrong. "I´m not gonna say it´s not right and it´s not fun, because it is fun," said
Economics: It seems the official position of Pope Francis is that the free market is a wicked enemy that must be restrained. With all due respect, he´s mistaken. The free market has been a heavenly blessing. Two days before our American Thanksgiving, the Argentinian pontiff, in his first apostolic exhortation, called the free market a "new tyranny." "Some people continue to defend trickle-down theories which assume that economic growth, encouraged by a free market, will inevitably succeed in bringing about greater justice and inclusiveness in the world," he wrote in the Vatican report. Claims of free-market success, he said, have "never been confirmed
President Obama is concerned these days with the "young invincibles," the 20-somethings he needs now to buy into his program, but who probably won´t because they feel (you guessed it) invincible and think they will stay so for quite a long time. But it takes one to know one, as the irony is Obama himself is, or once was, an ultra-invincible, unstoppable and doing what people said couldn´t be done. Could he become world famous on the strength of one speech? Yes, he could. Could he beat Hillary Clinton, a president´s wife and a feminist icon? Yes, he could. Could he
President Barack Obama told a Democratic fundraiser in Beverly Hills Tuesday that he has accomplished "as much, if not more" than any other president."Over the last five years, thanks to the leadership of Nancy (Pelosi) and Harry (Reid) and legislators who are here, we have accomplished as much, if not more, than any time in our history -- saving an economy from a Great Depression; revitalizing an auto industry that is producing better cars and has come roaring back like nobody believed; doubling our exports; drastically reducing our dependence on foreign oil; doubling fuel efficiency standards; doubling our production of
One day after a new poll showed that only a minority of Americans trust President Barack Obama, the president told an audience that his policies are based on kindness. “Kindness covers all of my political beliefs,” Obama told his audience of wealthy investors, high-tech donors, journalists and fellow Democrats Tuesday, only two months after he slashed at GOP legislators, calling them arsonists, nuclear blackmailers, economic wreckers, hostage-takers, obsessives and irresponsible extremists. “When I think about what I’m fighting for, what gets me up every single day, [kindness] captures it just about as much as anything,” he told his audience at the DreamWorks
In the wake of the Obamacare fiasco, President Obama’s poll numbers are collapsing in two industrial Midwestern states — the quintessential swing state of Ohio and his home state of Illinois. In Illinois, the Democratic firm Public Policy Polling found Obama’s approval rating falling to just 50–46 positive in a state he carried by 17 points just a year ago. His biggest drops in support came among women voters (only 50 percent positive) and Hispanics (only 51 percent positive). Without his overwhelming support among African-Americans (92 percent), his approval rating would easily be in the low 40s. The liberal website
Reports of bias incidents at Vassar College that involved hateful messages left on students’ doors were actually elaborate hoaxes — and the perpetrator is none other than the student member of the Bias Incident Response Team, The Daily Caller has learned. This fall semester at the liberal arts college in New York saw a curiously high number of bias incident reports. [snip] The task force had one student member: Genesis Hernandez, who is transgendered and was also a vice president of the Vassar Student Association (VSA), the student government.
Bias: After spending three years promoting ObamaCare lies, the media elite now scramble to get out of the way of a train wreck they helped cause. Their backpedaling would be funny if so many lives weren´t at risk. As the redistributive mechanics of ObamaCare rear their ugly head, the president´s propaganda puppets are suddenly sounding like conservative critics. Take the New York Times. In a fit of candor, it now agrees with what we´ve said all along — "redistribution of wealth lies at the heart of" the Affordable Care Act. The paper reported that "economic justice" was Obama´s real goal in taking over
The day before Thanksgiving 2013 shall hereby be known as “Richard Simmons Makes Hilarious Media Appearances Day.” The fitness guru dropped by the HuffPost Live studios to talk about his efforts in fighting childhood obesity. The conversation became critical of the Obama family when Simmons revealed that he was rejected in his attempt to join the First Lady in her “Let’s Move!” campaign. “I’m just not their set of sheets,” he told host Ricky Camilleri while wearing a set of anatomical muscle leggings and a “SWEAT” tank top. Simmons bristled at Camilleri’s suggestion that perhaps the White House doesn’t want to be
