Evangelical pastors, corporate leaders, elected Republican officials and small-government activists arrive in Washington next week to lobby lawmakers to revamp U.S. immigration policies before year’s end. (snip) 80 Republican members of Congress, said Ali Noorani, an organizer of the event and executive director of the National Immigration Forum. “When was the last time that you saw the conservative movement calling for something? Most of the time it’s, ’Stop this,’” Noorani said. “No Republican member really wants to do this, but they’re going to be hearing from constituents demanding that they do it, and do it this year.” The Republican-to-Republican appeal
Comments: This is incredible, I feel like I have fallen down the rabbit hole. If they think they are hearing from their constituents in this effort; wait until the next election.
When Glenn Beck got almost a million people to come to Washington DC, the press did their best to ignore them. The press pays no attention to Christians. Here you have hundreds of progressive pastors who want illegals to have access to free medical care, some business organizations who want cheap labor in spite of the millions on unemployment, and a couple of execs pushing for open borders. You can put lipstick on it but its still special interests pushing amnesty.
Marriott and others in the hospitality business as well as agricorps are cheap labor capitalists. They want cheap immigrant labor and taxpayer funded healthcare for the cheap immigrant labor to maximize their bottom line at the expense of the working middle-class. They won´t have to worry about a federal indictment for violating immigration laws and with plenty of uneducated immigrants to exploit they will be able to pay bottom dollar. This is not free-market economics, it is crony capitalism.
How´d that last amnesty program work, boys? Turned California permanently BLUE and ruined their State and economy. This one could be 3 times worse. Stop thinking of money and think of the nation. Make Mexico take their illegals back.
"On Oct. 29, the group heads to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce building across from the White House to listen to economists, religious leaders and Republican strategists make the case for comprehensive immigration revisions."
The Chamber of Commerce is deal team headquarters for the betrayal of American citizens. American citizens will be replaced with cheap, unskilled, Mexican labor. Remember, Obamacare won´t apply to the amnestied illegals. Just American ciizens.
Firing American citizens and giving their jobs to amnestied Mexican illegals. THAT´S what´s for Christmas this year.
"Towels. No. Towels. I need clean towels. No, not agua. Towels. Towels. Oh, never mind. Next time I´ll go to the Sheraton. No. Sher ... oh forget it."
And how do you define conservative??? How many liberal ideas may you embrace before you can no longer claim to be conservative? How many conservative ideas can you embrace before you become a "wacko bird"?
Allow legal status for illegal aliens after the unemployment rate among black men reaches 5%. It is obvious the Democrats are not serious about helping black men find work. It is time to focus on this segment of U.S. citizens and help them find meaningful work. Those who chose to come into our country illegally do not deserve such favored treatment.
Any problem of this duration that has a hurry-up-and-pass-a-law attached to it makes you know that this will be another attack on the USA. The devastation wrought by 9/11 is nothing compared to what the voters and their elected officials have inflicted on the USA.
All you progressives out there, answer this. When you get everything you want with Obamacare and immigration and watch the collapse of this country, where will you go? Will you want to live in the hell hole you created or will you, like the parasite you are, flit off to the next country that your agenda can destroy? Who will manage the chaos because there will be great chaos when unemployment skyrockets, housing takes a nose dive, and health care is a joke. Crime will necessarily soar. Inflation will come roaring to the forefront. It will be a perfect picture of your progressive utopia. What then? Where will you be when people want to hold you accountable for your agenda? Will you fear the anger you have wrought? A Mad Max society is not as romantic as you may have thought but it could easily become your reality. No economy can withstand your policies. Collapse is the only outcome. Amnesty and Obamacare will usher it in.
If we didn´t pay unemployment to people for two years, Marriott and other corporations would have more legal applicants for their jobs. As it is, people on unemployment get a two-year vacation between jobs.
A cancer patient, who publicly discussed the cancellation of his insurance under ObamaCare, now says he has been informed by the Internal Revenue Service that he is going to be audited. Bill Elliot appeared on Fox News on November 7th to discuss the cancellation of his insurance. He claims he was told that his cancer was considered “beyond the catastrophic previous condition” and his plan was being canceled because of ObamaCare regulations. Elliot, who has Stage 4 cancer, informed viewers he wasn’t going to pay the $1,500 a month for the new plan being offered, preferring not to burden his
A pioneering study has shown for the first time that the brains of men and women are wired up differently which could explain some of the stereotypical differences in male and female behaviour, scientists have said. Researchers found that many of the connections in a typical male brain run between the front and the back of the same side of the brain, whereas in women the connections are more likely to run from side to side between the left and right hemispheres of the brain. This difference in the way the nerve connections in the brain are “hardwired” occurs during
CNN host wondered out loud on his show this evening whether the physically unfit Chris Christie could follow the "perfect physical specimen" Barack Obama into the White House: "After the perfect Barack Obama, who´s a perfect physical specimen to many people´s eyes, does it matter?" Morgan asked his guest. "Or is actually somebody very different, someone who´s much more of a regular kind of guy who likes cheeseburgers and beer, but appears to be a straight talker, somebody perhaps more of a straight talker than it appears Barack Obama turned out to be?"
Shortly before receiving the medal of freedom from President Obama, Oprah Winfrey gave an interview to the BBC in which she seemed to chalk up much of the opposition to the president to racism: "I think there's a level of disrespect for the office that occurs ... because he's African American," she said. Her claim reminded me of the times when, as a child of the '70s, my father would ask an odd question about my friends, "What is he?" "Huh?" I'd ask. "You know, what is he — Italian? German? Lebanese? What is he?" my father replied. Colorblind eyes - I had no idea what my friends' ethnic origins were.
While just eight days of legislative business remain before lawmakers are expected to leave Washington for the winter holidays, House Speaker John Boehner maintained that immigration reform still has a spot in his majority’s agenda next year, but he does not intend to move on comprehensive legislation. (Snip)“Is immigration reform dead? Absolutely not,” Boehner, R-Ohio, told reporters during a news conference at the Capitol Thursday. “I believe that Congress needs to deal with this issue. Our committees are continuing to do their work. There are a lot of private conversations that are underway to try to figure out, how do
Phoebe Connolly, who was punched in the face and laughed at by a group of teenagers playing the random and sometimes fatal “Knockout” game in my own obscenely terrible neighborhood of Columbia Heights in Washington, D.C., appeared with Greta (snip)“I ultimately, I’ve moved past it and I really have no hard feelings about what has happened. And I just see it as another reason why we need to better support our youth with activities and youth programs, which is actually what I do for work, and it’s great to see teenagers do incredible things when they’re supported and empowered,” “
WASHINGTON — Many doctors are disturbed that they’ll be paid less – often a lot less – to care for the millions of patients who are projected to buy coverage through the health law’s new insurance marketplaces. Some have complained to medical associations – including those in Texas, California, Georgia, Connecticut and New York – saying the discounted rates could lead to a two-tiered system in which fewer doctors participate, perhaps making it harder for consumers to get the care they need. “As it is, there is a shortage of primary care physicians in the country, and they don’t have
An official with the nonprofit Obamacare enrollment group Enroll America conspired to give people’s personal information to what he thought was a political action committee, according to James O’Keefe’s latest video, provided to The Daily Caller. Enroll America, which Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius admitted to fundraising for, is a “nonpartisan” 501(c)(3) nonprofit that critics accuse of working as an unofficial Obamacare navigator across the country. Enroll America’s Texas state communications lead Christopher Tarango conspired to provide a list of potential Obamacare enrollees,
Secretary of State John Kerry announced Wednesday that he and Afghan President Hamid Karzai have reached an agreement on a critical security pact governing the presence of U.S. troops in Afghanistan beyond 2014. The document will be presented to a meeting of (snip) Kerry, though, denied that there was any sort of "apology" in the works, following reports on Tuesday that as part of the deal, President Obama would send a letter to the Afghan people acknowledging "mistakes." Kerry did not deny the possibility of a letter, but rejected the idea that any part of the deal would constitute an
If he thought his apology for his fecal fantasies about Sarah Palin was going to be the end of $#!+gate, he just dung get it. David Bauder, AP: MSNBC was not saying Tuesday whether disciplinary action is planned against show host Martin Bashir, who has apologized for “deeply offensive” comments he made about Sarah Palin…An MSNBC spokeswoman did not immediately respond to questions Tuesday about whether any further action was being contemplated against Bashir. The story here isn’t that our moral, ethical, and intellectual betters at MSNBC are stonewalling. Of course they are. The story is that they’re being forced
Representative Jan Schakowsky (D., Ill.) announced she will fast for a day as part of a push for amnesty. She will join an effort by activists on the National Mall who began fasting over a week ago. “I’m so inspired by the fasters and … how they’re willing to put their bodies on the lines, their health on the line to raise attention to an issue that is really tearing at the fabric of our country,” she said. Schakowsky, who has planned her fast for Thursday, encouraged her colleagues to join her in her day-long fast. Schakowsky, who has planned
Stepping up his attacks on Chris Christie, Sen. Rand Paul questioned the conservative bona fides of the New Jersey governor for expanding Medicaid and “embracing Obamacare.” The Kentucky Republican and potential 2016 presidential candidate was asked Tuesday whether possible 2016 hopefuls Christie and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush could be considered conservatives. “I don’t think any one person gets to decide what is or what isn’t conservative,” Paul said on CNN’s “Erin Burnett OutFront.” “On the case of the New Jersey governor, I think embracing Obamacare, expanding Medicaid in his state is very expensive and not fiscally conservative.”
The question all week long was this: Who are you going to believe, an illegal alien or the president of the United States of America? Obviously, if it’s a president who once went by an alias, Barry Soetoro, you go with Uncle Omar, 100 percent, no questions asked. And so it was that the White House finally admitted to another, uh, misstatement — despite previous denials, Barack/Barry did sleep on his beloved Uncle Omar’s couch in Cambridge when he first moved here to attend Harvard Law School (speaking of which, we’re still waiting to see the president’s grades and his LSAT scores). But the
More young men in California rise in pitch at the end of their sentences when talking, new research shows. This process is known as "uptalk" or "valleygirl speak" and has in the past been associated with young females, typically from California or Australia. But now a team says that this way of speaking is becoming more frequent among men.The findings were presented at the Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America in California. "We found use of uptalk in all of our speakers, despite their diverse backgrounds in socioeconomic status, ethnicity, bilingualism and gender," said Amanda Ritchart, a linguist at the University of
How do you get your arms around the catastrophe known as Obamacare? Is it even possible? At this point, I’m not sure it is. The list of individual disasters which threaten to ruin one-sixth of the U.S. economy and what has been, up until now, the best healthcare system in the world is exhaustive, and exhausting. The examples I will identify here barely scratch the surface. First but by no means foremost, we have the supposedly new and improved HealthCare.gov. Except it’s not, even the visible part. Stories still abound of people still failing to get in or to get through the enrollment
DAVID CORN: I saw a president who remains frustrated with the political-media culture that he has to work within, and that he´s looking to rally people, students here, and supporters, and people within the media. CHRIS MATTHEWS: But David Corn, you skeptic. He came to us today. He came amongst us. CORN: He´s trying to rally people behind this vision that he´s been promoting for a couple years. FINEMAN: By the way, he did it the end here, today, Chris, not by defending specifics, but by explaining why he´s in the game to begin with. And I don´t know about you, he´s
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a new five-year strategic plan to improve safety for elderly drivers and passengers. Although they are statistically among the safest on the road, the number of older drivers is increasing dramatically — and with it, that group´s numbers of injuries and deaths. Since 2003, the population of older adults, defined as age 65 and older, has increased by 20% and the number of licensed older drivers increased by 21% to 35 million in 2012, according to NHTSA. Last year, NHTSA reported that 5,560 people older than 65 died and 214,000 were injured
Barack Obama did not tell the whole story this autumn when he tried to make the case that Bashar al-Assad was responsible for the chemical weapons attack near Damascus on 21 August. In some instances, he omitted important intelligence, and in others he presented assumptions as facts. Most significant, he failed to acknowledge something known to the US intelligence community: that the Syrian army is not the only party in the country’s civil war with access to sarin, the nerve agent that a UN study concluded – without assessing responsibility – had been used in the rocket attack. In the months before the attack,
Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the hapless, goalpost-shifting so-called "architect" of Obamacare, told Fox News´ Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday that President Barack Obama´s promise "if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor" was absolutely true--with one important caveat: if you like your doctor, "you can pay for it." Wallace grilled Dr. Emanuel, challenging his false claims that California´s enrollment was keeping pace with the percentage of the young population necessary to keep the system afloat, and pointing out that the president´s promise on doctors would collapse once people lost their insurance or their
President Barack Obama’s Facebook page on Saturday posted a message honoring the dead from Pearl Harbor—accompanied by a picture of Obama descending the stairs next to the Pearl Harbor Memorial. The picture barely fits the name of the Arizona Memorial so it can frame Obama in the foreground. The post´s statement reads: Today, with solemn pride and reverence, let us remember those who fought and died at Pearl Harbor, acknowledge everyone who carried their legacy forward, and reaffirm our commitment to upholding the ideals for which they served. President Obama The Obama Administration´s current shipbuilding plan shrinks the size of
The U.S. isn´t called "America the Beautiful" for nothing. Each year, millions of tourists come from home and abroad to see the country´s majestic landscape and iconic sites, from the Grand Canyon to the Statue of Liberty. But there are also cool, quirky attractions, like Vermont´s Ben & Jerry´s Factory and Tennessee´s Graceland, the former home of Rock and Roll King Elvis Presley. From California to New York and everywhere in between, the country is chock-full of incredible attractions that keep luring in visitors. Here are the best tourist attractions in every state.
Although the jobless rate in November fell to its lowest level since he took office, President Obama called on Republican lawmakers Saturday to spend tens of billions on unemployment benefits that are set to expire this month. “It shouldn’t be a partisan issue,” Mr. Obama said in his weekly address. But he said the “economic lifeline” is in jeopardy. “All because Republicans in this Congress — which is on track to be the most unproductive in history — have so far refused to extend it” Mr. Obama said. If Congress doesn’t act before lawmakers leave on their holiday break, about
Many people could die as extreme weather becomes common. There will be more freak winds like the October storm, which killed four people. Heatwaves will be lethal and the sea level will rise, leaving coastal towns at risk of being swamped by storm surges. Sir Brian Heap, president of the European Academies Science Advisory Council, said he felt “obliged” to issue the warning after a new study by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. It comes on the back of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, which has killed more than 5,000 people. Sir Brian said: “Given the tragic events this
Call me Grinch, call me Scrooge. Call me Lord Voldemort of the Yuletide. None could be worse than sending me a holiday card with glossy photographs of your lovely, smiling family. My wife, Emily, and I place your cards like trophies on our shelves, continuing an old-school practice that began about 175 years ago as a way of maintaining relationships as families and friends moved far and wide. Today’s cards may appear more personalized — with photos of spouses, kids and pets, and distribution lists much smaller than a sprawling collection of Facebook friends. But when I flip over the photo
