Healthcare insurance executives were received at the White House today — but not to confront President Obama about the flub-ridden exchange launched on Oct. 1. Instead, the CEOs of Aetna, Humana, CareFirst, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, Health Net, Inc., Health Care Services Corporation, Independence Blue Cross, America’s Health Insurance Plans, Molina Healthcare, Centene Corp., Tufts Health Plan, Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, Wellpoint and Kaiser Permanente got to meet with Obama’s senior adviser Valerie Jarrett. Meanwhile, on the Hill, Pelosi brushed off the tech implosion as something they just have to be able to fix because she doesn’t want to
Comments: We all know who really runs everything don´t we? The rude, crass, arrogant behavior of 0bama is absolutely breathtaking. And you know these executives couldn´t just get up and walk away, you can bet they would be threatened within the inch of their lives. This regime is absolutely terrifying in their abuse of power.
That´s because Hussein is a CO (community organizer) and Jar Jar is the CEO (chief executive officer)
Haven´t you all noticed she "handles" everything? He´s not all that bright and she is but she´s also devious and dangerous. Why do you think we´re turning into a Godless police state society? Get ready.
The Health Insurance CEOs sold out their customers in back door deals for more business in the future. So with their 30 pieces of silver, they can only meet with the court jester. It is beneath the station of the Emperor to deal with such rabble who sold their souls to the devil.

´allowed´? Don´t these CEOs realize that Jarrett has no official standing? If they are bowing before this Iranian communist Chicago Slumlord-they are failing their shareholders AND their clients- and America. Time to put on their Big Boy pants and tell Jarrett - you are not elected and your SS detail MUST be removed-she has NO right to SS.
16 million people are being dropped from their private insurance and due to this rollout debacle added to the high price of Obamacare will have no insurance at all starting January 1. Meanwhile the CEO´s get invited to the WH to meet with Obama´s handler and are ´allowed´ to air their grievances? They backed this law. Where do the rest of us air ours?
Obama wanted Obamacare. He fought for it. He got it. These CEO´s can talk until they are blue in the face but Obama and his consigliere, Valerie Jarrett, will not be swayed. They are fully committed to this abomination even if it means the collapse of the economy. You see, for Obama and Jarrett this is not about providing health care for the people, it is all about consolidating power through the guise of health care. You will be wards of the state, grateful for any crumb that falls from the health care table because "health care" will be doled out as they see fit. Progressives are innately power hungry. In the past they have tried to control by force, but today they will attempt to control by non-violent coercion and hope it works. If it doesn´t they will go back to their old ways. They always do. Either way, the bodies will pile up.
Those CEOs are part of the problem so I have zero sympathy for their predicament. They wanted 0bamacare because it would FORCE more people to buy insurance and allow them to skyrocket premiums. I wonder if they really had the nerve to complain to ValJar or if it was a damage control meeting for all sides. Face it - almost everyone in a position of power has sold out the American public. I hope they lose their shirts and end up on a healthcare exchange.
From reports I have read, the insurance industry was threatened in the very beginning, just like the banks were threatened in 2009, and anybody or any industry that the WH needs cooperation from. Much apparent cheerleading for Obamacare during its initial rollout was as a result of threats. The choice was to cooperate or be ruined.
ALL insurance is nothing more than a balancing act. Each individual consumer must decide to pay regular premiums or pay for the loss/need when it happens. When you drive a $3000 car, the decision is easy, don´t buy the collision insurance. Judging from most of the horror stories out there, people can not afford the new, higher premiums dictated by obamacare and will not buy health insurance from any of these people. That leaves the entire industry in a downturn. These insurance execs got screwed by their own greed.
Fellow Ldotters have always been "ahead of the curve" on Barry and the Iranian witch, but I bet among all those CEOs there are one or two tough s.o.b.´s who aren´t going to take this kind of insult quietly.
#17 sounds about right: "the insurance industry was threatened in the very beginning, just like the banks were threatened in 2009,... and The choice was to cooperate or be ruined."
One does not become a CEO of a huge company by being a wimp. I´ll forgive any of them for their greed before this rollout, if just one of them will lead a charge against Barry and the witch. Hopefully, there is a Ted Cruz in the insurance industry - the people will respond.
Here´s what I do to keep my sanity while reading the news--particularly any news as regards the present regime: I repeat as needed, "Nothing is as it seems. Nothing is as it says. Up is down. Down is up. Right is wrong. Wrong is right. Truths are lies. Lies are truth." Welcome to Alice in Obama-land. Breathe deeply and endure, and pray that the people--WE the people--will soon awake from slumber.
#20 has it exactly right. On the one hand, the new premium structures are too high for most people to pay, and the incompetent bungling of the administration leaves the industry in a woefully bad position. They are going to go broke (which may be the whole idea, anyway).
So insurance companies now join banks and big pharma, along with all SMB employers, as the "bad guy" that are all corporatey and that must be reigned in and punished by the government. Basically, the places where most people work are to be punished or eliminated to swell the ranks of the dependent class or the government.
There is no way Obama would sit down and talk nuts and bolts business, face to face, off the teleprompter, to executives who ask real questions and know their stuff. It would be a handler’s nightmare.
But rest assured, those executives minded their manners. They know full well what happened to Jamie Dimon over at J P Morgan Stanley. He trusted the administration and helped it out in the bailout and was subsequently thrown under the bus.
If # 7 is right, and we´ve heard the same from Rush, we won´t feel sorry for the CEO´s. It´s the little guy once again who gets the shaft. The American citizen should , by our Constitution, sit down with this shadowy un-elected something behind the curtain, and grill her butt off. She has as much authority as a fence post. Enough. Dear leader wants transformation, well he´s going to get it.
It is my guess that it was ValJar who originally selected this moron as the vehicle for the success of her patrons, most likely Chicago bosses, but maybe also unknown Muslims of considerable resourses.
The Insurance Companies may have been threatened but they went along with it. It is my understanding that they get reimbursed with our tax dollars if their out-of-pocket expenses for covering "pre-existing conditions" causes them to lose money. I can´t help but believe they saw a gold mine.
Rinctum, good buddy, HAS to stop calling these destroyers "progressives". He knows they´re commie driven Marxists pushing for universal slavery. All those afraid to call them Communists, can, at the very least, call these leaches retro-gressives. We have to take the words used as collectivist propaganda, take them back. Start by calling it obamacide, calling it a train wreck, and never a "roll out", by calling it, forced indenture, and not "marketplace", calling "unaffordable tax graft", call it the attempted takeover of Soviet Communist medical control of the peasant masses Obama hates with all his rage. Read, listen, to all the propaganda words used against us, and start making your own attacking words. It is another sure way to win : de robotize !
Each and every one of those CEO´s knows how easy this could be fixed. All they had to do was mandate ´guaranteed issue´ and let insurance companies do what they know how to do-sell insurance. They did it before and can do it again.
Instead, millions more will be wasted and they will not demand a refund on the millions wasted for a malfunctioning web site.
Not to fear, it´s not their money they are wasting, it´s yours.
“And that’s how I see this: Fix the — fix the technology, and let’s not get too bogged down in what happens if they’re not able to fix it. Because, as I say, I believe in technology.” This from the Speaker who gave us Obamacare. Well, no wonder it doesn´t work.
PJ Media columnist J. Christian Adams appeared on The Kelly File on Fox News on Friday to talk about his recent article detailing how the Department of Homeland Security has recently hired activist immigration attorneys who worked for pro-amnesty, pro-asylum, and open borders groups in the past. Now, sources inside DHS have provided PJ Media with the employment history and pro-amnesty backgrounds of the newly hired lawyers who will be enforcing federal immigration laws. The ideological histories of these new DHS lawyers undermine confidence that the federal government will vigorously enforce federal laws, notwithstanding any congressional “mandates” to do so.
WASHINGTON -- A longtime adviser to the U.S. Director of National Intelligence has resigned after the government learned he has worked since 2010 as a paid consultant for Huawei Technologies Ltd., the Chinese technology company the U.S. has condemned as an espionage threat, The Associated Press has learned. Theodore H. Moran, a respected expert on China´s international investment and professor at Georgetown University, had served since 2007 as adviser to the intelligence director´s advisory panel on foreign investment in the United States. Moran also was an adviser to the National Intelligence Council,
DEVELOPING: – An elderly U.S. tourist and war veteran detained for more than a month for alleged hostile acts against North Korea has been deported from that country. North Korean state media said Saturday 85-year-old Merrill Newman was released because he had apologized for his alleged crimes during the Korean War and because of his age and medical condition. It was not clear if his confession was coerced. He was taken off a plane Oct. 26 by North Korean authorities while preparing to leave the country after a 10-day tour. Vice President Joe Biden is currently in South Korea on
At the "Fast Food Forward" protest on Thursday, Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) demanded that Pres. Obama sign an executive order bypassing Congress and unilaterally raising the federal minimum wage. Rep. Ellison told the crowd that they should join him in demanding that Pres. Obama skip seeking Congressional approval and raise the minimum wage on his own - and that he sent the president a letter on Wednesday presenting his demand: "We in Congress will try to raise the minimum wage. We got opponents on the other side of the aisle who say that there shouldn´t be no minimum wage. So, we
Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan joined WSJ Live host Mary Kissel on Friday where they discussed the ongoing issues associated with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Noonan said she found the way in which this administration has handled this crisis has been among the “oddest” she’s seen. Noonan added that she would like to see “humility” from President Barack Obama rather than combativeness. Kissel began by asking about the “puzzle” of the president’s response to the crisis surrounding the ACA’s faltering website. “I look at the White House the past two months, I think the president and
Another leftist lets the mask slip. Jonathan Alter believes that violent criminals imprisoned for their crimes are political prisoners. He and Al Sharpton talked to themselves on MSNBC today. Sharpton asked Alter what America might learn from the example of Nelson Mandela. Reasonable answers to this question include but are not limited to: Don’t abuse political power to punish your enemies; don’t hold on to political power forever; choose your wife or husband a bit more carefully; don’t seek to divide when unity serves the nation better. Alter wants America to learn a different lesson. None of the above. Alter
As Congress gets ready to battle on immigration reform next year, it´s important to take a look at who will help enforce and shape any kind of immigration overhaul. Former Department of Justice Assistant Attorney General and radical open borders attorney Tom Perez was safely put into the position of Labor Secretary by President Obama and the Senate earlier this year, knowing the Department of Justice is safely locked down as pro-amnesty. Perez has a long history of advocating not for American workers, but for illegal alien workers and made sure the Department of Justice was stacked with pro-amnesty attorneys
Barack Obama delivered a statement on the passing of Nelson Mandela yesterday. During his speech he told about his first public speech on apartheid at Occidental College. “I am one of the countless millions who drew inspiration from Nelson Mandela’s life. My very first political action, the first thing I ever did that involved an issue or a policy or politics, was a protest against apartheid. I studied his words and his writings.” But, Barack Obama forgot to mention that his speech at Occidental was sponsored by Marxists and Weatherman terrorists. Barack Obama’s first public speech was at an Occidental College event
Rep. Matt Cartwright, a member of President Obama´s Obamacare "strike team," says it´s a "good thing" that people are losing their old health care plans: "Because a lot of those people, they did have policies that didn´t meet the minimum standards. That´s just not a theoretical discussion. There´s a reason you have minimum standards. There are people out there who have insurance that´s really an illusion of coverage. They have immense deductibles, they have annual and lifetime caps. There´s so many people out there with what I call phony insurance policies and the fact that they´re going to lose those
Fresh off his interview with President Barack Obama, MSNBC host Chris Matthews appeared on Now with Alex Wagner to review what the president said and to express his thoughts on the passing of former South African President Nelson Mandela. Matthews linked the GOP to South Africa’s white apartheid advocates and declared that those who facilitated the transition to Mandela’s presidency were more patriotic and had greater regard for their country than the Republicans in Congress. Matthews acknowledged a point that Rev. Al Sharpton had made earlier in this broadcast where he noted that the last apartheid president, F.W. de Klerk, recognized
The Obama administration knew as early as August that the small-business portal on healthcare.gov would not be ready by the Oct. 1 launch, but delayed admitting those problems until Nov. 27, according to documents released by House Republicans on Friday. In one colorful email exchange in mid-August, Henry Chao, the administration official charged with the development of the online insurance marketplaces, expressed frustration with delays from the private contractor working on the website. When the contractor suggested a new date of Nov. 15 for the launch of the small-business portal of the website, Chao bluntly asked: “Can we sign this
The White House dismissed a report suggesting that President Obama and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius did not meet ahead of the botched rollout of Obamacare. Obama press secretary Jay Carney said the claim was based on a “ridiculously false premise.” “Kathleen Sebelius comes frequently and she meets frequently with the president,” he said. “She’s here a lot and meets with the president with regularity.” “It’s safe to say Secretary Sebelius spent a lot of time here,” he added, noting the administration’s focus on health care reform. The report from Politico Magazine noted that a Government Accountability Institute analysis of the president’s
More young men in California rise in pitch at the end of their sentences when talking, new research shows. This process is known as "uptalk" or "valleygirl speak" and has in the past been associated with young females, typically from California or Australia. But now a team says that this way of speaking is becoming more frequent among men.The findings were presented at the Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America in California. "We found use of uptalk in all of our speakers, despite their diverse backgrounds in socioeconomic status, ethnicity, bilingualism and gender," said Amanda Ritchart, a linguist at the University of
DAVID CORN: I saw a president who remains frustrated with the political-media culture that he has to work within, and that he´s looking to rally people, students here, and supporters, and people within the media. CHRIS MATTHEWS: But David Corn, you skeptic. He came to us today. He came amongst us. CORN: He´s trying to rally people behind this vision that he´s been promoting for a couple years. FINEMAN: By the way, he did it the end here, today, Chris, not by defending specifics, but by explaining why he´s in the game to begin with. And I don´t know about you, he´s
The most curious thing of all about the November jobs report released on Friday was the huge drop in the unemployment rate — and the fact that the Labor Department chose not to disclose that the data going into that figure are under investigation for falsification. On Nov. 19, I broke the news in my column that the Census Bureau, which collects data that goes into the jobless rate on behalf of Labor, had caught one of its enumerators fabricating interviews in 2010. The culprit said back then (and to me during an interview) that he was told to do so by
Denver - A baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex ceremony must serve gay couples despite his religious beliefs or face fines, a judge said Friday. The order from administrative law judge Robert N. Spencer said Masterpiece Cakeshop in suburban Denver discriminated against a couple "because of their sexual orientation by refusing to sell them a wedding cake for their same-sex marriage." The order says the cake-maker must "cease and desist from discriminating" against gay couples. Although the judge did not impose fines in this case, the business will face penalties if it continues to turn away gay

Former President Bill Clinton shared an anecdote regarding Nelson Mandela and the aftermath of his impeachment Friday on CNN. Clinton revealed shortly after the “impeachment business” finished on Capitol Hill, Rep. Henry Hyde (R., Ill.) who managed the impeachment trial requested a meeting at the White House. The former president granted the meeting out of lessons of humility and forgiveness he learned from Mandela, he said: BILL CLINTON: I remember one day, oh, about a month after the whole impeachment business was over, Henry Hyde, who had run the whole show, unbelievably enough, maybe a few months after, it was
One definition of a pathological liar is someone who lies where the truth would serve just as well. When President Obama’s uncle, Onyango Obama, was arrested in 2011 for drunk driving, the truth — that Obama had stayed with his uncle years earlier for several weeks as a Harvard law student — would have served the president just fine. No potential Obama voter would have held it against him that an uncle he had stayed with two decades earlier was picked up for DUI. Yet the White House went with a lie, claiming that Obama had never met his uncle. Now that
Although the jobless rate in November fell to its lowest level since he took office, President Obama called on Republican lawmakers Saturday to spend tens of billions on unemployment benefits that are set to expire this month. “It shouldn’t be a partisan issue,” Mr. Obama said in his weekly address. But he said the “economic lifeline” is in jeopardy. “All because Republicans in this Congress — which is on track to be the most unproductive in history — have so far refused to extend it” Mr. Obama said. If Congress doesn’t act before lawmakers leave on their holiday break, about
Many people could die as extreme weather becomes common. There will be more freak winds like the October storm, which killed four people. Heatwaves will be lethal and the sea level will rise, leaving coastal towns at risk of being swamped by storm surges. Sir Brian Heap, president of the European Academies Science Advisory Council, said he felt “obliged” to issue the warning after a new study by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. It comes on the back of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, which has killed more than 5,000 people. Sir Brian said: “Given the tragic events this
The New York City Police Department (NYPD) is sending out letters telling gun owners to turn over their rifles and shotguns — or else face the consequences. New York City’s ban on rifles and shotguns that hold more than five rounds is now being enforced, according to a letter the NYPD is sending out to targeted city gun owners. “It appears you are in possession of a rifle and/or Shotgun (listed below) that has an ammunition feeding device capable of holding more than five (5) rounds of ammunition. Rifles and shotguns capable of holding more than five (5) rounds of ammunition are
The question all week long was this: Who are you going to believe, an illegal alien or the president of the United States of America? Obviously, if it’s a president who once went by an alias, Barry Soetoro, you go with Uncle Omar, 100 percent, no questions asked. And so it was that the White House finally admitted to another, uh, misstatement — despite previous denials, Barack/Barry did sleep on his beloved Uncle Omar’s couch in Cambridge when he first moved here to attend Harvard Law School (speaking of which, we’re still waiting to see the president’s grades and his LSAT scores). But the
Chris Matthews‘ exclusive interview with President Barack Obama was #1 in the 25-54 demo at 7pm and the second highest-rated show in the demo for all of cable news, despite airing during other network’s live coverage of Nelson Mandela’s death. With 298K viewers in the demo, MSNBC’s Hardball beat Fox’s On The Record with Greta Van Susteren, which had 218K, in the 7pm time slot. The only show with more viewers in the demo than Hardball was Fox’s The O’Reilly Factor, which had 405K viewers at 8pm. With 1.296M total viewers, Matthews came within 3K of Greta Van Susteren, who
