Anthony Weiner recently lamented that "if the internet didn´t exist," he´d be the mayor of New York. In other words, if John Q. Public weren´t so privy to the facts, and so readily able to investigate those facts and exchange opinions about them online, politicians could more easily manipulate their political images and determine the outcome of elections. Likewise, Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell is now feeling the stinging disapproval of an informed public that he may not have felt twenty years ago. Like the grand reveal at the end a Scooby-Doo episode, McConnell the "fiscally conservative" Senate leader has been unmasked
For the "Cruz didnt do anything crowd" (which is a bogus claim to begin with) this is exactly what they truly feared. Being exposed and proving the Tea Party dead on target. The Establishment Republicans are as corrupted as the democrat party. The only difference is that the democrat party doesn´t pretend to be otherwise.
FTA:"To believe that McConnell had nothing to do with this kickback takes a leap of faith and a disregard of all political logic. But he has reached the end of his tether in terms of credibility, and conservatives rightfully despise his actions over these last few weeks. They have exposed him, and as such, I predict he will be toppled from his lofty position in 2014. Which may, for the good of all American taxpayers, signal a changing of the guard in the GOP."
And I pray to God he takes the rest of the establishment with him, Amen.
FTA, "Knowing that the Senate would not have the 60 votes necessary to amend the House bill to fund ObamaCare, he and fellow collaborators voted in favor of a cloture vote which would allow Harry Reid and Senate Democrats to amend the bill with an easily attainable straight majority vote. Then, having cleared the Senate Democrats´ path to funding ObamaCare, he cast a show vote against the amended spending bill, which included the funding of ObamaCare, hoping it would absolve him of any blame."
Texas Senator Cornyn also voted for cloture and followed with a show vote against the bill. When I called his office, staff explained, "He wanted to have a chance to vote against funding ObamaCare." I left that staffer with no doubt how I felt about this deceit, promised to financially support any primary challenger and promised to vote for any third party candidate if Cornyn wins his primary. I rather have a liberal snake hold his office that a RINO scorpion.
I am upset about McConnell taking this deal but I believe he became entwined in the Harry Reid process of politics. This is how Harry Reid works and operates. What is sad is all of the other Republicans will be smeared along with this dirty deal. And there are some very good Republicans.
Sooner or later, the truth bites them all in the butt. McConnell, John McCain, Arlen Specter, John Murtha, Robert Byrd, Hillary & Bill, Marco Rubio and the worst backstabber of them all, Barry Hussein Soetoro Obama. Sticking it to the people may enhance your career in the short run but the legacy suffers eventually. You go down in history as just another crooked politician.
McConnell needs to be defeated. I hope he is in the upcoming primary. He is not in my district, but I am sending his republican primary opponent a campaign contribution and would urge others to do the same. We need to give some financial backing to get the RINOs out and some Ted Cruz conservatives in. Electing true conservatives is the only way we are ever going to have a voice to be able to defeat and stop the extreme destruction that democrats are causing to our country. It is damaging to have John McCain, Lindsey Graham, McConnell, Cantor and Boehner who claim to be republicans working at every turn to undermine and destroy conservatives.
When you´re sending money to Matt Bevin, you´re sending money to a Yankee carpetbagger who took federal money to rebuild his uninsured factory in Connecticut after it burned down, and who´s financially backed by the Democratic Party of Kentucky, not to say hand-picked by them.
Homeland Insecurity: The radical Muslim Brotherhood is often dismissed in the media as a distant threat. In fact, this sworn U.S. enemy isn´t just overseas. It´s inside the gates of the White House. At least six American Islamist activists who work closely with the Obama administration are Muslim Brotherhood operatives who enjoy strong influence over U.S. policy, according to the Investigative Project on Terrorism and the Center for Security Policy in Washington. As we list the worst of these subversives, bear in mind that the FBI in 2004 uncovered the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood´s strategic plan to infiltrate the U.S. government and sabotage
The world premiere of the “Ballad for Trayvon Martin for Orchestra and Jazz Quartet” is set for tonight. Princeton University’s director of its jazz-studies program composed the work in honor of the Florida teen. Anthony D. J. Branker told the Star-Ledger that the piece is intended to “be a form of healing” after Martin’s death and the controversial court case that followed it. The ballad, which will be performed by the university’s official orchestra and jazz ensemble, is intended to be a tribute to victims of racial violence, Branker explained. He hopes that the performance will be “one that speaks to
Sarah Palin on Thursday dismissed the attacks of former MSNBC host Martin Bashir, saying in her first comments since his resignation that she’s “used to it.” “At this point, I’m used to it. That’s kind of a sad state of affairs to have to admit that I am used to it,” Palin said on Fox News’s “Fox & Friends.” She called attacks like Bashir’s “par for the course.” Bashir quit on Wednesday for comments he made on his Nov. 15 broadcast during which he called Sarah Palin “a world class idiot” and referenced a diary of a former plantation manager who forced a
RUSH: Our buddy Jim Pethokoukis at the American Enterprise Institute has a piece, "The Most Important Economic Chart in US Politics ... is Kind of Misleading." His points here is that we cannot measure income inequality the same way that we always have, as I said (quite cleverly, I might add) at the beginning of the program. America used to be that you had a mom and a dad and they got married. The mom and dad were a man and a woman, and the mom and dad after getting married and working, lived in a little apartment. They saved
RUSH: You know, it´s... Well, I was gonna say it´s fascinating. It´s not fascinating. It was just interesting all week along, ladies and gentlemen. When I got back here on Tuesday, one of the first things I did was reference a piece I´d stumbled across on Saturday written by Andrew McCarthy at National Review Online about how the media treats what goes on in Washington as a soap opera. You have probably heard me reference this, and it´s worth repeating. A soap opera is unreal but it hooks viewers with never-ending suspense and drama and cliffhangers and heroes and villains. But
RUSH: Let me address something here. Right when the program began, Mr. Snerdley asked me, "So are you gonna play all these pope sound bites that you´ve got building up?" I said, "No, I´m not gonna play ´em," and this is why, exactly what we´re talking about now. This is another manufactured controversy. I happen to be a villain in this massive soap opera script. I give you an illustration. Remember there was a woman once who testified before a fake congressional committee who demanded $3,000 worth of birth control pills, paid for by everybody else, and we calculated that you´d
One of Barack Obama´s most irritating rhetorical tropes is his oft-stated aversion to "cynicism." It is vexing in substantial part because of its breathtaking and demagogic hypocrisy: Obama inveighs against cynicism in a cynical effort to manipulate the gullible, to make them feel good about their naiveté. That helps explain how he has maintained a base of support, albeit a shrinking one, as the disaster that is ObamaCare has unfolded. In his 1892 comedy "Lady Windermere´s Fan," Oscar Wilde defined a cynic as "a man who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing." In an essay for
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said his opposition research shop is targeting Hillary Clinton ahead of the 2016 election. Priebus said the RNC is trying to focus on the midterm elections, but added there should be a greater emphasis on the potential presidential candidate. “Well, we have — so our research shop, along with America Rising, has been focusing in on Hillary Clinton,” Priebus said on The Hugh Hewitt Show on Thursday. “But I agree with you that there needs to be a more of a focus.” American Rising is a GOP research firm started by Mitt Romney´s former campaign manager, Matt
Chris Matthews joined MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts Thursday to discuss his upcoming interview with President Obama, saying he would ask the President some “easier questions” before getting into “fun stuff”. MATTHEWS: [I’ll] get into questions that I want to get into, with executive management and political dysfunction in this country that we talk about all of the time on the program and get into some easier questions, for example, voter suppression efforts by the Republicans so he can bite into that. Obama’s appearance on the Hardball College Tour comes at a time when the President faces his lowest approval ratings among young voters
Hysteria: The Environmental Protection Agency chief says global warming is the most urgent threat to public health. Given that the whole climate change frightfest has fallen apart, how do people keep saying such things? EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy says she has dedicated her life to protecting the environment. It´s too bad she is not more dedicated to reality. If she were, her comments Monday before the left-wing Center for American Progress would have been different. But McCarthy knew who she was speaking to and told the group what it wanted to hear when she said, "I really see no greater issue and
´We have communicated in no uncertain terms with every player in the region that that´s a red line for us and that there would be enormous consequences if we start seeing movement on the chemical weapons front or the use of chemical weapons."— Barack Obama, Aug. 20, 2012 "First of all, if you´ve got health insurance, you like your doctors, you like your plan, you can keep your doctor, you can keep your plan. Nobody is talking about taking that away from you."—Barack Obama, multiple versions What would you rather be: an American lost inside an ObamaCare exchange or a Syrian rebel?
Contrary to what you might have heard, there really was a world communist conspiracy. Its purpose was not just agitation but propaganda. To bring it about, V.I. Lenin recruited a special corps of propagandists for what was to become the Communist International. For a fanatic like Lenin, it wasn´t enough merely to have a communist revolution in Russia. He wanted communism to take over the world, the fulfillment of Marx´s exhortation "Workers of the world, unite!" according to Stephane Courtois and Jean-Louis Panne, authors of "The Black Book of Communism: Crimes, Terror, Repression," published in 1999. Lenin also feared that unless other countries
I have never been much of a conspiracy theorist. For me it was always Oswald by himself from the Texas School Book Depository and nothing in the intervening fifty years has disabused me of this notion. For the most part, I’m an Occam’s Razor kind of guy — the most obvious explanation is likely to be true. (Snip) To put it bluntly, Occam’s Razor has moved. Things that were once possibilities now seem almost certainties to me. Principal among those is that Obama’s academic records are perpetually unavailable for a reason — and that reason is most likely that they reveal
One of President Obama´s chief political assets has been his ability to excite young people like almost no politician in history. But the days of America´s youth fawning over the president are over. A new Harvard University Institute of Politics poll released Wednesday confirms what other surveys have shown in recent months: Millennials have soured on Obama so much this year that their opinion of him largely mirrors the American public´s. Even though Obama does not ever have to face another election, he should be worried about the findings for a couple of reasons, which we will dive into momentarily.
President Obama will cast growing income inequality and a decline in economic mobility as a “fundamental threat to the American dream” during a speech Wednesday in Washington. The speech will serve as an early preview for next year’s State of the Union address, according to a White House official, who said Obama would focus much of his energy over the next three years on the issue. “The decisions we make over the next few years will determine whether or not our children will grow up in an America where, if you work hard, you can get ahead,” the official said.
Good stuff from Jonathan Turley at today’s House hearing on executive power, although I regret that I couldn’t find a more user-friendly format for you to watch. There’s no compilation clip; you’ll have to make do with the C-SPAN embed by fast-forwarding to the time cues I give you and being patient while the vid buffers (and buffers, and buffers).(Snip)That brings us to point two: Even if Congress can’t stop Obama, the courts can. The problem there, though, says Turley, is that O and the DOJ have argued successfully in many cases that no one has standing to sue him
A stunning new study unveiled on Fox News´ Hannity finds that President Barack Obama’s White House calendar records just one face-to-face meeting between Obama and his Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in the more than three-and-a-half years leading up to the disastrous Obamacare launch. The startling statistic comes from a new Government Accountability Institute (GAI) analysis of Obama’s own official White House calendar, as well as the Politico presidential calendar, and raises new questions about Obama’s executive leadership and management throughout the implementation of his singular legislative achievement. More alarming still, the president’s schedule lists 277 private
[Video] President Obama on Wednesday declared that addressing income inequality would be the focus of “all” of the White House’s efforts “for the rest of my presidency.” In a sweeping address that touched on raising the minimum wage, investing in infrastructure and ending tax breaks for the wealthy, Obama warned that the American economy has become “profoundly unequal,” declaring economic mobility the “challenge of our time.” “The combined trends of increasing inequality and decreasing mobility pose a fundamental threat to the American dream, our way of life, and what we stand for around the globe,” he said in an hour-long
Just over two weeks ago, MSNBC host Martin Bashir delivered a harsh piece of commentary that culminated in the suggestion that someone should “s-h-i-t” in former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin‘s (R-AK) mouth. Bashir offered an abject apology on his next broadcast, but a chorus of critics continued to demand action against the host. After a reported “vacation” for the host earlier this week, Bashir announced, Wednesday afternoon, that MSNBC and Martin Bashir are parting ways. Here’s the statement from Martin Bashir, via email: After making an on-air apology, I asked for permission to take some additional time out around the Thanksgiving holiday. Upon
Nineteen people stood behind President Obama on stage in the Executive Office Building Tuesday as the president kicked off a new campaign to promote Obamacare. One of those people, a young Florida woman named Monica Weeks, introduced Obama after telling the story of being struck with Crohn´s Disease at age 19 and receiving expensive treatments for several years that were covered by her parents´ health care plan — because Obamacare allowed her to remain on that plan until age 26. Now, Weeks said, she has coverage through a job. "The Affordable Care Act gives young adults who are just starting
Amid an array of “knock-out” attacks against a number of Jews in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood, a city councilwoman pointed to the success of the Jewish community as triggering the aggression. Councilwoman-elect Laurie Cumbo emphasized that while she “admire[s] the Jewish community immensely” for its work ethic, black teens may see it differently. “While I personally regard this level of tenacity, I also recognize that for others, the accomplishments of the Jewish community triggers feelings of resentment, and a sense that Jewish success is not also their success,” Cumbo, who was recently elected, wrote in a letter. Chief among the issues
Continued global warming poses a risk of rapid, drastic changes in some human and natural systems, a scientific panel warned Tuesday, citing the possible collapse of polar sea ice, the potential for a mass extinction of plant and animal life and the threat of immense dead zones in the ocean. At the same time, some worst-case fears about climate change that have entered the popular imagination can be ruled out as unlikely, at least over the next century, the panel found. These include a sudden belch of methane from the ocean or the Arctic that would fry the planet, as
America is facing a wave of strikes by its fast-food workers on Thursday a day after Barack Obama warned that inequality in the USA had soared to the point that it now posed "a fundamental threat to the American dream". Low-paid workers in McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken and other fast-food outlets in 100 cities across America were due to start rolling strikes to protest at the low level of America´s $7.25 (£4.45) federal minimum wage. The strikes are the latest part of a mushrooming publicity campaign for higher wages among those working so-called "McJobs", with fast-food restaurants seen as a
The president put in his ask to Disney CEO Bob Iger at a private meeting with entertainment moguls during his Nov. 26 visit to Jeffrey Katzenberg´s DreamWorks Animation. [snip] If you have any doubt as to how much of a sports junkie Barack Obama is, check in with the entertainment moguls who attended a private briefing with the president Nov. 26 before his speech at Jeffrey Katzenberg´s DreamWorks Animation campus in Glendale. At the end of the conversation -- which touched on a myriad of topics, from piracy to Iran -- Obama revealed what´s at the top of his bucket
