Sebelius on the Run
Wall Street Journal, by Editorial

The Affordable Care Act´s botched rollout has stunned its media cheering section, and it even seems to have surprised the law´s architects. The problems run much deeper than even critics expected, and whatever federal officials, White House aides and outside contractors are doing to fix them isn´t working. But who knows? Omerta is the word of the day as the Obama Administration withholds information from the public. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is even refusing to testify before the House Energy and Commerce Committee in a hearing this coming Thursday. HHS claims she has scheduling conflicts, but we hope

For Democrats, incompetence is always a badge of honor. The only thing they demand excellence at is demonizing anyone who would oppose them. Sebelius will be rewarded for this, not punished.

Sebelius is nothing but a stooge front person for this debacle. The real problem are warmed over 1970´s social engineers trying to fit a round ball into a square hole. They used reconciliation to pass Obamacare which by law should have a sunset provision like the Bush tax cuts whichwere passed the same way.Pro-life dems in the House caved in for a phony anti abortion provision that was signed in secret. Most ofthe are probaly ou of office now.

A politician´s abortion stance, defines them overall. That´s really all you need to know about a candidate to see if they´re worth their salt.Sebelius is very pro abortion which builds her a lot of creds in the party.Obama doesn´t want to throw that under the bus.

Anybody "stunned" by the complete failure of the piece of garbage called Obamacare is either asleep or delusional. The system was pronounced unworkable when the first 10,000 page document saw the light of day. It was immediately recognized as the redistribution of wealth to the parasite class and a form of slavery for the average working person. Millions more dollars will be thrown its way but it´s already dead.

Breitbart says all the attention on the glitches is a trap. "The coverage of the glitches is an attempt to create a faux objectivity by focusing on non-core aspects of the single most damaging piece of federal law in generations – all while upholding the central premise, which is that all that stands between Americans and affordable health care is proper implementation of Obamacare."

No surprise here. Sebelius is just another dumb incompetent Democrat. Unfotunately for her she got a unworkable piece of Democrat legislation handed her. As the people realize what a piece of crap Obamacare is, their rage will hit Democrat candidates like a tidal wave in the 2014 midterms.

I have serious doubt that the democrats will be blamed for anything. They never are so what is going to change this time around? They will tell angry Americans that it is fault of Republicans who would not allow them to consider single payer which would cure all the ills of Obamacare. I know this does not make sense, but since when has the democrat party been held accountable for any of its boondoggle ideas? Their followers don´t want solutions, they would rather have the Republicans as a punching bag. Crying and whining is much easier than actually thinking and questioning reality. Obama has trained them well.

A commenter somewhere said something that really made me gasp: The insurance industry has spent the last three years altering their structure in preparation for implementing ObamaCare; it´s virtually impossible for them to go back to what they were if ObamaCare collapses or is delayed in the the next six months, given that they´re different entities having partnered with HHS since the law was passed.

Normally, this person says, the free market works its magic and things turn around. But in this instance, that is unlikely because whatever happens, the law and all its rules and regs will remain in effect, paralyzing insurance companies and ultimately causing their collapse. He seems to think this nightmare is now unavoidable.

Sure would like to hear other opinions on this matter, especially from Ldotters who can speak more authoritatively on the likelihood of the scenario laid out above.

Reminds me of a rehab house we did about fifteen years ago. Gorgeous house around a golf club subdivision, around 3000 sq ft.

Woman who owned it was a hoarder, first time I´d ever heard of one. House was filled with garbage, etc. on top of lovely furniture, now ruined. The stories were multiple, horrific sometimes, and nearly unbelievable. Sometimes you just had to laugh to keep from crying.

However, one thing we found were dozens of books on ´getting organized.´ Two college kids who worked for us piled them all up and then, very seriously asked me what that ´meant´.

That´s who these people are, too. They believe that if they can just write it down, dream it up, believe in it, it will happen. Magical thinking.

They have no concept of the skills or knowledge required to actually get something done. They never have.

So now we have this monstrosity foisted on everyone because a pack of idiot liberals/progressives had "an idea!".

So, you Obamabots, get it now?

In an unwitting moment of candor the Illegal Kenyan admitted to (then Congressman) Kucinich, who felt 0bamacare did not go far enough, that the ACA was simply a stepping stone to single payer. The Conservatives are right. No postponement, no delay, no ´fixes´. Repeal - lock stock and barrel.

#14: The sole intent and purpose of this debacle is to break the insurance companies and force single payer (socialized medicine) on us. One of the first directives will be all doctors to be put on a salary determined by the elite/IRS. In Communist Russia, the doctors were paid at the same or lower rates than the general population.

About a year ago Obama said something like this; We need to fix capitalism and the free market because they don´t work.

Explanation: Communism. This is far beyond Socialism, which redirects wealth as in control of excess profits. It´s out and out Communism, a CLASSLESS society in which all means of production are owned by the collective of citizens or community.

Seventh Plank of the Communist Manifesto: Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State.

This is exactly where these traitors want to take US. It´s far more than just the re-distribution of wealth though that´s at the very core. It´s the control by the few,the Proletariat, that will control all political, social and economical order at their whim.

In short! It´s treason.

Question never answered: Who had what on Chief Justice Roberts? Where is Roberts in all this now?

#17 says in response to my initial post:

´´#14: The sole intent and purpose of this debacle is to break the insurance companies and force single payer (socialized medicine) on us.´´

I´ve thought for some time the collapse of the insurance industry was Obama´s goal. But I assumed it would happen some time down the road, that insurance companies would wither on the vine after ObamaCare transformed health care in this country.

I don´t think Obama or Sebelius realized until fairly recently that this whole thing could implode so soon. I suggest the implementation of single payer now or in the near future would be an impossibility given the public´s rage at what´s happened to their healthcare.

The administration, therefore, may not have the luxury of waiting a couple of years so that we all get used to the new healthcare regime and there is no going back because private insurers are no more.

If ObamaCare collapses in a shorter timeframe, the whole system will be a mess, but private insurers will still exist. So then the question is, will Obama and Dems push for single payer much earlier than they wanted to and incur the wrath of three quarters of the people, or will they back off, realizing that election disasters are likely in 2014, 2016 if they follow this course.

From Mike Lee and Ted Cruz: "We told you so."

All they were asking for was to delay Obamacare for one year. In hindsight, they may have demonstrated one of the best GOP strategies in many years.

As a Republican, when you want to get your message out, you circumvent the media and go directly to the American people. Lee and Cruz understands this and it´s what President Reagan did very effectively.

The water is starting to boil too fast, and the Democrats know that even the lo-fo frogs will start to hop out of their carefully laid heathcare scheme. Single payer may be their goal, but what they may actually accomplish is reinstituting fee for service medicine.

In response to #14, some of you may recall this past summer, early August I think, Rush had a guest on that was an insurance industry employee with the accounting section of one of the big companies. She tried to explain what it was they were going through to meet some of the little known demands of the law, and how it would fundamentally change the way that they operate. It was too technical to really understand, Rush even found it pretty much incomprehensible, but it does illustrate what is happening/going to happen to the insurance companies under barrycare. They are going to have to make so many internal changes in the way they do business that it will be next to impossible to go back to the pre-change, pre-barrycare way of doing business. Yes, we are doomed to single payer if this plays out the way that woman portrayed what is going on internally in the insurance companies.

Last word from me on the subject.

In response to my last post (#18), #20 says, ´´Of course he´ll push for single payer.´´

But, you see, I don´t think Obama and Sebelius thought they´d have to ´´push´´ for single payer. I believe they expected things would gradually go bad, dissatisfaction would grow, the insurance companies would be gone, and people would forget who started us down this road and turn to the government for a solution, any solution.

But if things go bad very quickly, as appears to be happening, people are not likely to turn to the architects of the fiasco and say, okay, you blew it with Obamacare but we´re good with you trying to set up a vastly more complicated and intrusive system.

#17 ~ terminology check ~ the proletariat consists of the BROAD MASSES ~ but it´s the VAN GUARD OF THE PROLETARIAT, that is, the leidership elite, you should fear.

There´s also the BOURGEOISE ~ ownership and management class folks ~ including rich peasants.

Marxism has a rather uninteresting view of social makeup. They imagine something on the order of cops and robbers. Everybody else is expected to stand around, sitting first on their thumbs, then sucking them, watching and waiting ~ to be told what to do.

The only thing they ever got right was that prostitution is not a victimless crime.

Don´t fixate on the glitches. The greater issue is the death spiral and we already have 3 years of data on that by way of the PCIP (preexisting conditions insurance pool). This program´s expectation was to sign up 625,000 uninsured to cover the transition to Obamacare. By the beginning of 2013, they had finally driven the enrollment up to 100,000 by taking over some of States high risk pools. Even with this much lower number of ensured, they consumed the entire $5 billion. This was the group of citizens that Obamacare was designed to serve. Have they all registered yet? Has any healthy person that will pay a premium signed up? The stories suggest that the sick, those on Medicaid who are hoping for a tax credit as well. and those with a high risk of AIDS, are the only ones signing up.

The Obama crew spend over 650 million in taxpayer´s money to design and install the Obama Care web site that does not work. Did they demand any sort of warranty, or was that expenditure just another redistribution of taxpayer´s money to the "community"?

Will they now start spending double the 650 million in an attempt to fix that monstrosity with no guarantees that it will work in the end?

Because of being the author of this fiasco, and if the health insurance industry collapses because of Obama´s doings, Obama will never be able to get a single payer government run health insurance program through the Congress in the next three years. In the minds of liberals and progressives that will probably be Hillary´s job after that.

I can´t help but think this "incompetent screw up" is anything but a cunningly planned, well-orchestrated license to steal. Consider the alleged millions/billions already spent on OCare "architecture" and the alleged millions/billions being spent to "fix it." Where´s the money going, exactly? There´s no detailed accounting, so we can´t ask that all-important question: Who profits? (Aside from the "government IT professional" who purchased ten-tear-old software.) Wonder how long it will be before the lucky folks who successfully managed to sign up for OCare awaken to the grim realization that their identity and bank account both belong to a Nigerian goatherd.

Like her boss, what experience did she have for this undertaking? It´s amazing the incompetence. I hope books are currently being written about this debacle.
Let´s face it, they´re in way over their heads, but more importantly, they didn´t do their due diligence or market research to determine the feasibility of this monstrosity that they´ve foisted upon the American people.

Thanks for the correction, #34. You´re absolutely correct. It´s the Bourgeosie who will rule.

#38: I keep hearing more and more references to the pressure put on Roberts. When you think of the influence of Hillary´s FBI files, it would be easy to dig something up or just make a reference or two about where your kids go to school, etc.

The very least Roberts could have done if he believed this was a tax is to send it back to the Senate as not passing muster. A tax has to be raised from the proper source, the House, not the WH or the Senate. But he cratered on every front.

Alito says he worked for three weeks to change Roberts mind. Something terrible was amiss with this one!

None of this debacle is unintentional.

On a slightly different subject, software development is not so difficult if the customer can provide good requirements/specifications.

If you hire a developer and think he is going to design your software you are dumb.

The solution to our healthcare and insurance problems is to switch to catastrophic insurance were you have to pay the first $10k of your med expenses and insurance covers the rest. It would make insurance much cheaper and you more careful about med expenses as you would be paying.

WASHINGTON AND NEW YORK - In September 2001, as the U.S. reeled from the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, Vladimir Putin supported Washington´s imminent invasion of Afghanistan in ways that would have been inconceivable during the Cold War. He agreed that U.S. planes carrying humanitarian aid could fly through Russian air space. He said the U.S. military could use airbases in former Soviet republics in Central Asia. And he ordered his generals to brief their U.S. counterparts on their own ill-fated 1980s occupation of Afghanistan. During Putin´s visit to President George W. Bush´s Texas ranch two

A new photo of a mysterious flying object over Kansas has been revealed. It appears to be the same aircraft as one that was snapped soaring over Texas last month. The exact identify of the aircraft remains a mystery, but rumours abound that it could be a secret jet. ´The photo is grainy because it was taken with a hand-held maxed-out 400mm telephoto lens through a cloud layer and then it was severely cropped to bring it up even close,´ says Jeff Templin, who took the photo on 16 April. ´There is no way to know the altitude and no way to judge its

Could the 2016 presidential election turn into a contest between a Bush and a Clinton? Political debate in America last week revolved around whether or not Jeb Bush, Florida´s former governor who is son or brother to two former US presidents – both named George – would jump into the 2016 battle for the Republican presidential nomination. For a nation that fought a war for independence from the hereditary power of the British Crown, in the person of another fellow named George, the concept of nominating a third Bush to run for the White House against a second Clinton (the former

Alert shoppers are accustomed to watching food prices go up and down. But a string of forces—from droughts to diseases—is raising the cost of a trip to the grocery store at a rapid clip. And it looks like it will be a while before the price pressure eases. Some of that pressure is coming from California—the source of roughly half the nation´s fruits and vegetables—where a long-running drought is forcing farmers and ranchers to cut production. After the driest year on record, large sections of farmland are expected to lay fallow this year as the Golden State copes with an ongoing water

Sen. Dean Heller (R-Nev.) on Friday called for a Senate hearing into the dispute between Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) over cattle grazing. Heller described as "patriots" the people who came armed to Bundy’s ranch after the BLM began to seize his cattle for refusing to pay grazing fees and fines that now total more than $1 million. Heller debated the ranch standoff on a Nevada television station with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), who has called the armed Bundy supporters “domestic terrorists.” "What senator Reid may call domestic terrorists, I call patriots," Heller said.

A furor over what the Topeka school district considers an honor has erupted after plans were announced for Obama to address a combined graduation ceremony for five area high schools next month an 8,000-seat arena. For some, it was the prospect of a tight limit on the number of seats allotted to each graduate. For others, it was the notion that Obama´s speech,

And the White House has already acted several times to help improve America’s economy. But such policies, no matter how valuable, will achieve little if we do not fix our broken democracy. We are angry at being blamed for Mitt Romney’s defeat, when we argued from the beginning that he was a Big Government establishment politician and that if he ran a content-free campaign, he would lose. President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'

The White House is going to war with another fox — and this time, it’s personal. The Wall Street Journal reports that a red fox has been causing chaos around the White House, tripping security alarms, digging up Michelle’s garden and distracting the president from his duties. The Secret Service won’t give any details about how often the fox trips the White House’s obviously sophisticated security alarms, but rest assured, officials say, they’re watching. President Obama was apparently “stunned” to see the fox roaming freely down the oft-photographed White House colonnade, home to the world’s shortest, but most dramatic, outdoor strolls. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management.
