Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) says he hopes the House “will get some adult supervision from the Senate” to achieve a debt ceiling deal. (Snip)King said he would vote for that deal, and blames Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) for this fiscal mess. “Ted Cruz has been a total fraud from the start,” King said. “It never could have succeeded. I can’t imagine going into battle knowing you can’t win and continue telling your people you are winning. It’s Never Never Land, parallel universes, whatever you want to call it.” Congress, King added, will be back in the same boat in three to four
Comments: He never stops ragging on Cruz. So Bill Hemmer (Fox News) just asked him why. "Do you know him?" King had to admit he´d never met Cruz. Just blames him for being the "architect" of the shutdown.
King is so jealous of Cruz you can almost small it.
Those of us fortunate enough to live in Texas where some sanity still resides are more fortunate we didn´t have Peter King R-New York leading the fight at the Alamo. The deaths of those brave souls facing insurmountable odds with no hope of winning the battle resulted in stirring the passions of others who gave the Mexicans a thrashing with the cry "remember the Alamo!
If left up to the likes of Peter King our illegal immigration problem would be at the Mississippi River. And we would likely be speaking German and Japanese in the rest of the country. But King seems very representative of the surrender monkeys of New England.
King´s slams at Ted Cruz just show what a shallow, egotistical jerk he is! So the idiot never met Cruz and they served in the House together? He acts like he´s in high school and I believe he is a true bully. Why not change parties, and call it quits?
King is right , Cruz didn´t know what he was doing or he purposefully deceived the base. If defunding had any chance of succeeding, Cruz and Heritage should have gone after the 21 Senate Democrats required to join every Senate Republican to override Obama´s eventual veto. I never saw Cruz or Heritage target a single Democrat with a commercial . They only targeted Republicans who never voted for or supported Obamacare. Cruz and Heritage did not go into the home districts of Democrats and tell town halls that their representatives supported Obamacare. They only did that in Republican districts. Apparently the Cruz strategy was to run down fellow anti Obamacare Republicans, call them squishes and the Surrender Caucus , and demand that Republicans vote to defund Obamacare. Which they did. Once that happened and then the government shut down, according to DeMint and Cruz , Obama and the majority Democrats would cave and defund Obamacare. The tsunami Cruz predicted never happened. Not a single Democrat changed their vote. Did anyone other than Cruz , DeMint and Limbaugh seriously think Chuck Schumer or Barbara Boxer or Al Franken or Dianne Feinstein or Dick Durbin, et al. would turn against Obama and come over to the Republican side ???? Cruz obviously did not understand the dynamics of the Democrat Party or Obama. Cruz described fellow anti Obamacare Republicans ( who were in the minority ) as the enemy and ignored the majority pro Obamacare Democrats. That´s why his bizarre strategy never had a chance of working and instead has backfired.
If Peter King was around in 1770 he would be pounding the pulpit saying God save the King, going to war against Britain is suicide. The traitor´s colors are evident to all. He doesn´t deserve to live in a free nation born by blood of true patriots.
A real Speaker of the House would take a nitwit such as Rep. King aside and read him he riot act. Funny how Congress members practice `decorum` while on the floor of the house/senate, then suddenly become potty mouths when they get in front of a camera. This type of behavior does nothing positive for anyone. Sounds to me like King has done more damage to the GOP the past couple of weeks than supposedly has Ted Cruz.
#16 is absolutely right on... Cruz misread Obama´s obstinacy and stupidly believed Obama would cave.
Instead, Obama stuck to his guns and forced an embarrassing shutdown on the Republicans.
Cruz was outsmarted by Obama.
Or was he...
Cruz started off demanding Obamacare be defunded, and quickly made the ever-so-slight shift to demand it be delayed by a year.
Obama said no way, those options, and others, were "non-negotiable."
So the gov´t shut down, and the People focused laser-like on the rollout of Obamacare.
Which was "horrible," "deeply embarrassing," "big failure," "disaster," ... and those were the GOOD reviews!
Now that Obama has painted a bright red line this side of delaying Obamacare, it looks for all the world that a system designed over three years and costing over $600M will be unable to keep the gov´t´s side of the critical bargain that holds Obamacare together: the individual mandate.
Come next November, as the people have Obamacare´s disaster still fresh in their minds, they might just remember who risked his political career (even if not his life, his fortune and his sacred honor) to stop it.
So, yeah, #16 is absolutely right, if Cruz is dumber than Obama.
While many of us realize that the ruddy-faced Peter King lives in a purple--at best--district, and that we´d prefer a moderate Republican to a leftist Democrat, he needs to know that for the Republican Party his accomodationist political strategy is a one way ticket to Palookaville. If somebody took the hermetically sealed cork out of his rear end, he´d implode.
Radio host Rush Limbaugh accused President Obama on Friday of trying to do “everything and anything he can to link himself to” Nelson Mandela after the former South African president’s death. “Now, forgive me, but if you are a low-information voter and you’re watching the CBS Evening News last night, you would come away with the impression that the important thing about Nelson Mandela’s death was that he had looked up Barack Obama when he came to town and had a picture of Obama when he died,” Mr. Limbaugh said on his show Friday. “Classic, folks. Absolutely classic — and the
THE DREAM OF owning a winery is one that many may harbor but few are actually able to fulfill. The expense is considerable and the odds of success are incredibly long. Yet the list of actors and athletes, financiers and film directors who aspire to see their name on a label simply goes on and on. (Snip)Even though Manuel Pires was born in Portugal´s Douro Valley wine region, he aspired to own a winery in Napa Valley from his very first visit, many years ago. Why not in the Douro? "Because I am an American," replied Mr. Pires, whose family
A Wal-Mart worker died early Friday after an "out-of-control" mob of frenzied shoppers smashed through the Long Island store´s front doors and trampled him, police said. The Black Friday stampede plunged the Valley Stream outlet into chaos, knocking several employees to the ground and sending others scurrying atop vending machines to avoid the horde. When the madness ended, 34-year-old Jdimytai Damour was dead and four shoppers, including a woman eight months pregnant, were injured.
Vice President Biden promoted local economic development Thursday, and also weighed in on the Senate dispute over filibuster. (Snip)Biden, a Delaware native, visited the new Capriotti´s outpost in downtown Washington, D.C., for a takeout order to be consumed during lunch with Obama at the White House. The vice president paid $56.25 cash for his order. Republicans quickly pointed out that Biden opposed filibuster changes back when Democrats were a minority in the Senate.
Senate Democrats bowled over Republicans on Thursday to win approval for a highly controversial rule change which would limit the GOP´s ability to block nominees. Majority Leader Harry Reid, moving quickly following days of speculation, used the so-called "nuclear option" to pass the change. Typically, major changes like this take 67 votes, but he did it with just a simple majority.(Snip) The late Sen. Robert Byrd, D-W.Va., said in 2010 that changing the rules would "destroy the uniqueness of this institution." "In the hands of a tyrannical majority and leadership, that kind of emasculation of the cloture rule would mean that minority
SARASOTA, Fla. — Sarasota police say the husband of former Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris was found dead of an apparent suicide at the couple’s home. Police spokeswoman Genevieve Judge said Tuesday that Harris’ husband, Anders Ebbeson, committed suicide. Officers were called to the home between 7:30 and 8 a.m. Tuesday. During a news conference at the police station, Pastor William Hild of Sarasota First Baptist Church confirmed that Ebbers had taken his own life. Ebbers was a Swedish businessman. Hild, the family’s pastor, says Ebbers suffered from health issues in recent years.
Golf’s governing bodies eliminated penalties for violations detectable only through video evidence such as one that cost Tiger Woods two strokes in a PGA Tour playoff event this year. The rule change, one of several announced today, follows cases where players had been penalized for an infraction only seen when reviewing high-definition replay, often after a television viewer alerted officials. The groups delayed a decision until 2016 regarding the appropriate penalty for instances when a player turns in an incorrect scorecard when unaware that a penalty had occurred. This allows television viewers and others to continue to call in potential penalties they

Indonesia has recalled its ambassador and is reviewing all cooperation with the Australian government, over revelations Australia attempted to listen in to president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono´s phone calls. Documents obtained by the ABC and Guardian Australia show that Australian intelligence attempted to listen in to Mr Yudhoyono´s telephone conversations on at least one occasion, and also targeted the phones of his wife, Ani Yudhoyono, and his inner circle. Spies also tracked activity on Mr Yudhoyono´s mobile phone for 15 days in August 2009, the material - leaked by the US National Security Agency (NSA) whistleblower Edward Snowden - reveals.
The scale of Sunday´s deadly storms became clearer this morning: Six people dead in Illinois, hundreds of homes flattened and splintered, 81 tornadoes sighted through the Midwest, 358 reports of damaging winds, 40 reports of large hail. Since 1986, there have been 194 tornado warnings issued in the month of November in Illinois: More than half of them, 101, were issued Sunday, according to the Chicago Weather Center. Hardest hit was Washington, a town of 15,000 people east of Peoria hit by an EF-4 tornado packing winds of 170 to 190 mph. Whole blocks were leveled, prompting the Illinois National Guard to

All the amenities of modern medicine are available at a new West Los Angeles hospital. There´s 24-hour emergency care, a team of surgeons, psychology and physical therapy units, MRI and CT machines, one of the top oncologists in the country.(Snip)It is one of only a handful of U.S. animal hospitals that offer such sophisticated procedures as bone-marrow transplants for dogs — at a startling $16,000 — as well as radiation therapy, acupuncture treatment and hydrotherapy pools. When I was a kid, I knew two different Santa Clauses. The first had a fat belly, rosy cheeks, a long white beard, and skin as pink as bubble gum. He was omnipresent, visiting my pre-school and the local mall, visible in all of my favorite Christmas specials. Then there was the Santa in my family’s household, in the form of ornaments, cards, and holiday figurines. A near-carbon copy of the first one—big belly, rosy cheeks, long white beard: check, check, check. But his skin was as dark as mine. Seeing two different Santas was bewildering. Eventually I asked my father what
US President Barack Obama may have moved the masses attending Nelson Mandela’s memorial service with his stirring eulogy, but it was his grinning "selfie" with the Danish and British premiers that set social networks abuzz. In a candid moment captured by a photographer, Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt can be seen holding up her smartphone, with Obama lending a helping hand, as they pose for a picture with David Cameron, all three of them smiling broadly in their seats at Soweto’s World Cup stadium.(Snip)Mashable, the news and technology website, ran the photograph under the headline: ‘‘Dear Obama: Funerals are no place
Johannesburg - A man who provided sign language interpretation on stage for Nelson Mandela´s memorial service, attended by scores of heads of state, was a "fake," the national director of the Deaf Federation of South Africa said on Tuesday. Asked about the claim by The Associated Press, South Africa´s government said it was preparing a statement. Three sign language experts said the man was not signing in South African or American sign languages. South African sign language covers all of the country´s 11 official languages, according to the federation. It wasn´t immediately clear if the unidentified man was using a
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) snapped at conservative groups that have come out in opposition to the budget deal reached Wednesday between Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.). "They´re using the American people for their own purposes. This is ridiculous," Boehner said at a press conference with other members of House Republican leadership on Wednesday. Over the past few days, a number of conservative groups have blasted the deal because it sets discretionary spending levels in the budget higher than previous levels under sequestration. In the past three days, the influential Heritage Action, Club for Growth, Americans
The Obama State Department has finally released a second round of photos revealing the harrowing devastation wrought by a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. The new photographs depict rampant damage to the consulate. They show charred walls, smoldering fires, Arabic graffiti defacing exterior walls, and scattered debris throughout. The extent of the damage would lead any reasonably serious person to conclude that this was a cold, calculated attack, carefully coordinated to mark the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately for the American people, the Obama-Clinton-Rice cabal that led to the Benghazi cover-up was
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
A “presidential selfie” featuring President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service began making the rounds this morning, but it’s the person not included in the frame who caught everyone’s attention: As anyone with two eyes and a Twitter account has noticed, Michelle Obama does not appear amused. Of course, though a picture says a thousand words, not all of those words are necessarily true. FLOTUS might not have even known the photo was taking place. Or she could disapprove of funeral selfies. Either way.
President Obama’s job approval among American voters has dropped to negative territory with just 38 percent voicing their approval versus the 58 who says they disapprove, according to a national poll released Tuesday by the independent Quinnipiac University. That is one percent less than the 39% who said they approved of him in last month’s poll. The majority of the 2,692 registered voters the University in early December said that the president is not honest and trustworthy. When asked, “Do you approve or disapprove of the way Barack Obama is handling his job as President?,” respondents gave Obama lackluster ratings
Looks like this president can’t get away with flirting in front of his wife… It appears that first lady Michelle Obama was none too pleased with the way that President Barack Obama was acting toward Denmark Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt during a ceremony honoring Nelson Mandela, and before too long, they switched seats. The sign language interpreter at Nelson Mandela´s memorial yesterday "made up his own signs," according to South Africa´s deaf federation. "He´s a complete fraud," Cara Loening, director of Sign Language Education and Development in Cape Town, said according to ITV News. "He wasn´t even doing anything, There was not one sign there. Nothing. He was literally flapping his arms around." Delphin Hlungwane, an official South African sign language interpreter at DeafSA, told Reuters:
