Cruz, Lee, Palin join memorial protest
The Hill (Washington DC), by Keith Laing

Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Mike Lee (R-Utah) and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) attended a rally protesting the closure of the World War II Memorial, according to reports. The lawmakers and the former governor – and 2008 GOP vice-presidential nominee – joined a crowd that removed barricades at the memorial and chanted “tear down these walls,” according to Washington, D.C., radio station WTOP. (Snip) The presence of a Confederate flag at the protest, which later moved to the White House, sparked an uproar on Twitter.

What people need to carry is the Bonnie Blue flag which was theoretically the first Confederate flag and stood for secession as opposed to war. Liberals wouldn´t know what it was so it would make a great statement to those who do know. The original Confederate states don´t need the rest of the country anymore, they can survive on their own, unlike the situation 150 years and more ago. Secede!

FTA:"In many parts of America, waving a Confederate flag outside the home of a black family would be considered a very hostile act.
— Jeffrey Goldberg (@JeffreyGoldberg) October 13, 2013"

Look at them trying to make this about race over one Confederate flag!

I´m sick and tired to death of political correctness and the lying spin against everything freedom loving people do.

If anybody is trying to enslave the citizens of the United States of America, it is the head of that "black family" that is presently calling the people´s house his home.

The people marching and protesting are marching for the cause of freedom - not slavery.

They would be doing the same against any person of any color who was "fundamentally transforming" America and destroying our freedom.

I´ve got a pretty good idea that Jeffrey Goldberg and his buddies know that.

There´s no photo, so I´m just guessing that the flag was the Confederate battle flag and not the Stars and Bars, which most Americans wouldn´t even recognize or would think it might be the flag of Puerto Rico.

I would hope that the flag was meant as a symbol of rebellion against tyranny, but I´d bet the guy with the flag was a leftist plant trying to make everyone look like racists.

Re #12 - From a strategic standpoint if secession were to occur the new confederation would need deep water ports...and there are no shortage of those along the Atlantic Seaboard from Hampton Roads at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay (and to blockade shipping out of Baltimore if needed), south to the tip of Florida, and then the entire Gulf Coast from Florida to Corpus Christi, TX...all ports of the CSA from 1861-1865.

Cruz, Palin, Lee , Hannity, Levin and Limbaugh have been demanding a government shutdown for months.
They have been challenging Republicans to shut down the government.
Palin said Republicans should " woman up " and not roll over and play dead and be willing to
shut down the government to defund Obamacare.
Limbaugh said Republicans were terrified to to shut down the government to defund Obamacare.
Cruz said it would just be a minor inconvenience
to shut down the government to defund Obamacare.
Hannity said if shutting own the government meant Republicans would lose the House, so be it, because
this was the hill to die on .
Shut Er Down was the cry on all the blogs and websites.
And now the same people that demanded a shutdown are surprised and upset that Obama used his power to shut down things
that were important and
meaningful to the military ???
Where have Cruz, Lee, Palin , Limbaugh and Hannity been these past five years ?
Not only will Obamcare not be defunded , but, the Republicans´ hopes for 2014 , including repeal have been dealt a serious set back and the military , past and current and their families
have been hurt by the shutdown.
Republicans did what they all demanded.
They voted to defund Obamacare.
The government shut down , as predicted , with all it´s awful consequences.
They all got their wish.
Now they need to own it and stop complaining.

LONDON— With support growing for independence just months before Scots decide whether to break up with Britain, outsiders are weighing in with impassioned calls to keep the three-century-old union together. British officials from across the political spectrum, European Union leaders, corporate executives and retired military commanders have made their cases. Even David Bowie registered a plea for Scotland to “stay with us.” But there has been conspicuous silence from one major player with a lot to lose if Scotland secedes: the United States. A vote for independence would dismember Washington’s closest and most important ally, leaving behind a not-so-great Britain at

Those killings, however, are only a fragment of the total harm caused by the misuse of firearms. Each year, more than 30,000 people die in the United States in firearm-related incidents. Many of those deaths involve handguns. The adoption of rules that will lessen the number of those incidents should be a matter of primary concern to both federal and state legislators. Terry McAuliffe is warning that global warming could raise sea levels high enough to flood the Hampton Roads region, home to the world´s largest naval base, without immediate and “smart decisions.” Addressing an environmental summit this week at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va., McAuliffe embraced climate change, blamed humans for causing it, and said action is needed now to protect Virginia´s coast from rising ocean levels that will result from global warming. “The first big decision of course is to accept that climate change is real,” he told the group. “I happen to believe in

Who throws a shoe? Honestly! That would be 36-year-old Alison Ernst of Phoenix, Arizona, who was charged Thursday night with disorderly conduct by the Las Vegas Police Department after allegedly throwing a shoe at former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. According to NBC News, who spoke with a Secret Service official, the U.S. Attorney’s office has declined federal prosecution. Ernst was wearing shoes on Thursday night when she attended a speech Clinton was giving in Las Vegas, but apparently brought an extra one specifically to throw at the former secretary of state. The official said the incident appeared to be “premeditated.”

President Obama stood Friday with the Rev. Al Sharpton and accused Republicans of trying to keep millions of Americans from voting, in a fiery speech days after new revelations about Sharpton’s past as an FBI informant. “The right to vote is threatened today in a way that it has not been since the Voting Rights Act became law nearly five decades ago,” Obama told the annual convention of Sharpton’s National Action Network in Manhattan. Obama’s appearance represented a presidential seal of approval of Sharpton’s role as a civil rights activist, amid the new revelations about how Sharpton used a wire to record

Nearly a year into the IRS scandal, we still don´t know exactly what happened—though we are finally getting an inkling. That´s thanks to the letter House Ways and Means Chairman Dave Camp sent this week to the Justice Department recommending a criminal probe of Lois Lerner. The average citizen might be dizzied by the torrent of confusing terms—BOLO lists, Tigta, 501(c)(4)—and the array of accusations that have made up this IRS investigation. Mr. Camp´s letter takes a step back to remind us why this matters, even as it provides compelling new information that goes to motive and method—and clarifies some of

As President Obama spoke of old "wounds” at Fort Hood this week, the White House declined a request from a survivor of the 2009 massacre there to meet with Obama for a few minutes so the veteran could explain face-to-face how he believes the government has mistreated and disrespected the victims of that attack. Staff Sgt. Alonzo Lunsford (ret.) was shot seven times in November 2009 when Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Hasan opened fire at Fort Hood, killing 13 people. Despite Hasan’s admission that he carried out the attack on behalf of the Taliban and revelations that he had been

STAMFORD, Conn. — Jeb Bush defended his controversial comments about immigration reform, insisting they were nothing new for him and urging “sensitivity to the immigrant experience.” At a Connecticut Republican party dinner Thursday night, the former Republican governor of Florida did not repeat his remarks from last weekend at his father’s presidential library, when he said that people who come to the United States illegally in search of a better life for their children “broke the law, but it’s not a felony. It’s an act of love.” This time the potential 2016 candidate put it differently. “To be young and

Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) is now accusing the Keystone pipeline of being a cancer risk. Her first point was that the pipeline “will bring 830,000 barrels of dirty tar sands oil into our nation every day.” She then segued to point #2 by asserting that the heavy tar sands oil will put people who live near refineries at risk for cancer: Significantly higher levels of dangerous air pollutants and carcinogens have been documented downwind from tar sands refineries, and in these areas people are suffering higher rates of the types of cancers linked to these toxic chemicals, including leukemia and
