Government officials deny the price tag on the troubled ObamaCare website is as big as $634 million, as widely reported on Thursday. Nonetheless, a close look at the cost of HealthCare.gov and the overall architecture of this giant federal program reveals no real bargain for the American taxpayer. "What a train wreck. How can we tax people for not buying a product from a website that doesn´t work?" Speaker of the House John Boehner demanded on Wednesday, as report after report indicated that the software problems experienced by the online portal were nowhere near being resolved. Computer experts who spoke with
Loot the Treasury with "stimuli" Burn money any way possible. Create confusion and chaos. Fire military leaders and replace them with stooges. Tell the American people it´s all the fault of the Republicans. "Weaken America Any Way Possible".
Face it, Obamacare is going to cost you your life either in terms of your financial prosperity or your actual physical being. It will not be a benevolent system with your best interests at heart. It will be a system of health care by medical codes with little or no input from you or your doctor. The premiums will be a huge financial burden. All in all it will be a disaster except, of course, for those who forced it upon the American people and are magically exempt. The irony is that Obama wants it to fail, then he will get his original wish, single payer. This is when he will present single payer as the only solution. The people will be financially strapped to the point they will cry out for government assistance and demand it. It is a convoluted journey to single payer but it leads to the desired destination.
After playing the role of President for five years, you’d think BHO could finally unhook his training wheels and at least appear to have the semblance of knowing what he’s doing. Not so fast, Folks! He’s still the inexperienced intern he was on Day One. $634 Million spent in the private sector gets you the results you paid for OR ELSE! $634 Million spent in the public sector gets you nothing but flimsy explanations and preposterous excuses. Obama’s cabinet cries out for a Secretary of Glitch.
This is about much more than a website. As we focus on it, cockroaches scurry in our cities with clipboards and signup papers.
As a study in human nature, I will bet that the first signups will be freeloaders and those who will receive generous subsidies. A grand ObamaPhone campaign. Then the threats will start and the remainder will either signup or opt for the fine. Procrastinators will choose the fine and then be shocked at the terms. $95 OR 1% of their adjusted gross income.
Communism, chaos, control, obedience, cost waste, propaganda, confusion, fear, punishment, danger, death, disease Obamacide is the destruction of the best medical system (despite its faults), the best medical technology, in all history.
Destroy a medical system with thousands of pages of rules for humans, millions of added no brains postal level droids, and a monster new Nazi IRS police force who listens in on your once private doctor patiient relationship.
It is not about a website. The Communists are registering the unworking masses at the expense of productive citizens. Those living off the fat of the land will pay nothing at all and get an Obamaphone in addition to free Obamacare. After Amnesty for Illegal Aliens, and probably before here in California, the redistribution of wealth will be massive and bankrupt US. Obama will exact his reparations in a big transformative way.
I went thru the website and choose individual, 55, 50,000. I came up with for the Platinum at $467 a month and no deductible or $5,604 per year. The Bronze is $426 and has a $5,000 deductible!
Now at $10/hr you bring home after taxes maybe $17,000. Can you live on what´s left after subtracting at least $5,604? You "qualify" for medi-cal. The site says no options available. What to do now? I do not know! If $30,000 you pay about the same high cost.
In short taxes go up to pay the healthcare for those that cannot pay. So you lose you better paying job and now you qualify except you cannot pay as you have no job.....
Remember that is just for 1 person in the family and the price only will go up. Imagine you, the wife and kids. Imagine the Dugger family with 19 kids!
Meanwhile congress had exempted themselves from this law of the land!
Get your Eagles Up people! The truckers got threatened by DOT. Most all who were to participate were independents. They are barely making do, I know, my sister is married to one. It´s been the hardest times for him these past years with Obanzo Bean and his goons running things. I´ve personally had to bail them out several times to the tune of thousands of $. These men and women wanted to very much make a BIG RIG statement, but, you lose your CDL, you lose your livelihood. These goons grab everyone by the short hairs as a first tactic. Don´t blame the truckers, they wanted to be there. Like all of us though, they´ve got to feed their families and pay the mortgage. Lord help me, I hate this admin.
Austin — Insurance companies, brokers and consumer advocates say a highly publicized national wave of health plan cancellations largely bypassed Texas. There are several complex reasons, but one of the biggest is this: Following the example of Arkansas and other Southern states, the Texas Department of Insurance told health insurers in June that they could compress the contractual period of this year’s policies. That meant they could be renewed late this year. The little-noticed advisory may have steered as many as 2.2 million Texans who are in individual or small-group plans around the federal health care law’s demands for richer
Even as President Obama reluctantly granted Americans thrown off their health plans quasi-permission to possibly keep them, he called them "the folks who, over time, I think, are going to find that the marketplaces are better." He means the ObamaCare exchanges that are replacing the private insurance market, adding that "it´s important that we don´t pretend that somehow that´s a place worth going back to." Easy for him to say. The reason this furor will continue even if the website is fixed is that the public is learning that ObamaCare´s insurance costs more in return for worse coverage. Mr. Obama and
What do Tim Tebow, Pope Benedict XVI, and President Obama have in common? The mainstream-media complex, as represented by one of its bellwether glossies, is decidedly unimpressed with all three of them. They all appear on GQ’s list of the 25 Least Influential People, or, as the article’s subtitle has it, the leading “impotent megalomaniacs.” The conservative Protestant quarterback and the conservative Catholic pope do not come as a surprise; but the comment about Obama indicates how far the progressive president’s stock has fallen. Quoth GQ: “He can blame Republicans in Congress all he likes and get away with it because
A note-passing war aboard an airplane spilled over into Twitter on Thursday, as Bachelorette producer Elan Gale live-tweeted his profane dispute with an obnoxious fellow passenger, a battle that resulted in flights missed and faces slapped. If you had stressful Thanksgiving, at least it didn’t involve grown adults telling each other to eat dick (probably). The problem started when “Diane” began protesting the plane’s late takeoff, as she had Thanksgiving plans, apparently unlike everybody else on the flight:
WASHINGTON — After two months of relentless criticism about the troubled rollout of the new federal health care law, Saturday marks the day when President Barack Obama pledged that the flawed website, HealthCare.gov, would be fixed. White House officials say they expect that vow to be fulfilled, at least for the vast majority of Americans who need to access the website to sign up for health insurance. But anything less than success Saturday probably will be a crippling blow in a second term where Obama faces many tough political challenges, from budget battles to negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program. The HealthCare.gov rollout
A president has to be a resolute officer of his administration. If he isn’t, he fails. When everybody gets his number, the new reality makes everybody miserable. That goes double when other presidents, prime ministers and despots get it. Barack Obama, resolute enough when he’s designing health care schemes, shows only irresolution abroad. Weakness and irresolution is the face he turns to the rest of the world, in hopes that if he hires a good speechwriter and bows deeply enough to whatever kings and potentates cross his path, that’s good enough. But of course it isn’t, and Mr. Obama is
Human history has always been marked by major population shifts, from earliest hominid times over the Horn of Africa to the present moment when what social scientists and historians define as a “demographic transition” is occurring. (Snip)In effect, what is taking place is an invasion by other means. The Muslims are coming, and not as members of a comedy troupe of that name. Terrorism, as we know, can cause serious damage, both psychological and physical, and is an excellent means of softening up its target.
At this time of Thanksgiving, I’m grateful for the U.S. military — not just for the usual reason that it protects us from our foes but also because it has the potential to save us from ourselves. As I make my rounds each day in the capital, chronicling our leaders’ plentiful foibles, failings, screw-ups, inanities, outrages and overall dysfunction, I’m often asked if there’s anything that could clean up the mess. My usual answer is a shrug and an admission that there’s no silver bullet. There are many possibilities — campaign spending limits, term limits, nonpartisan primaries, nonpartisan redistricting, a third
The era of ‘hope and change’ was supposed to usher in a ‘post-racial’ era. Instead it’s now the appalling norm to blame any political opposition to the president on racism. As Americans participate in the post-Thanksgiving rite of passage known as Black Friday, I can’t help but reflect on a disturbing trend that increases with each passing day of the Obama presidency: If you disagree with the president, you must be racist. Of course, criticism of black Republicans by liberals of all colors is nothing new. When I first started on Capitol Hill in 1991 as a young legislative aide,
In the wake of the deadly tsunami that hit Japan in 2011 and severely damaged a nuclear reactor, Japanese officials say the levels of radiation are safe for everyone outside the reactor area itself. But as radioactive water from the plant nears the West Coast of North America -- the water is expected to hit in 2014 -- can we be sure it´s safe? The nuclear reactor continues to leak radioactive water due to poor management, while Japanese subcontractors at the plant have admitted they intentionally under-reported radiation and that dozens of farms around Fukushima that were initially deemed safe by
Hollywood, Fla.- Standing here on the streets of Hollywood with two comely Obamacare cheerleaders by my side, I’m feeling fired up and ready to go. I’m feeling like the change I’ve been waiting for. I’m feeling like whatever Obama cliché you can think of. And all I want to say, like the late Todd Beamer before me, is, “Let’s roll.” Or more like, “Let’s enroll.” Because much as Beamer, God rest his soul, took on the terrorists who tried to take down America, we are now in a similar cataclysmic fight: the fight to guarantee that every American has the right
A Washington state man has left a fortune worth $187.6 million to charity, after spending his life keeping his wealth a secret by coupon clipping and riding the bus. Jack MacDonald, who died at age 98 in September, left his fortune to Seattle Children´s Hospital, the University of Washington School of Law and the Salvation Army. MacDonald´s family says few people outside his immediate family knew he was wealthy. "Our family has lived with the ´secret´ of Jack´s generous fortune for more than 40 years, all while being amazed at his frugal lifestyle and modest demeanor," said Regen Dennis, MacDonald´s stepdaughter. "He
Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin are starting to sour on the new pope. In response to Pope Francis’ first Apostolic Exhortation, in which the pontiff denounced “trickle-down theories which assume that economic growth, encouraged by a free market, will inevitably succeed in bringing about greater justice and inclusiveness in the world,” these two paragons of the far right – both of whom regularly invoke the teachings of Jesus to bolster their own political views – have suddenly turned their backs on the man whose actual job description is to speak for Jesus. Sarah Palin complained that Pope Francis sounded “kind
President Obama requested Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu take a “breather” from his harsh criticism of the U.S. strategy regarding Iran during a call betwee the two leaders, The Washington Post reported on Thursday. The request came as the administration girds up for a push in the next six months to reach a final settlement on Iran´s nuclear program. The president reportedly urged Netanyahu to tone down his rhetoric for the sake of diplomacy and urged him to dispatch officials to Washington who could help negotiate a resolution agreeable to both countries. The president called Netanyahu last Sunday, promising to
In 1947, Sen. Harley Kilgore (D-W.Va.) condemned a proposed constitutional amendment that would restrict presidents to two terms. “The executive’s effectiveness will be seriously impaired,” Kilgore argued on the Senate floor, “ as no one will obey and respect him if he knows that the executive cannot run again.” I’ve been thinking about Kilgore’s comments as I watch President Obama, whose approval rating has dipped to 37?percent in CBS News polling — the lowest ever for him — during the troubled rollout of his health-care reform. Many of Obama’s fellow Democrats have distanced themselves from the reform and from the president.
The hits to President Obama´s popularity, prompted by the botched HealthCare.gov rollout, are simply a natural fluctuation every commander-in-chief faces, Obama told interviewer Barbara Walters in an interview aired Friday. "If you remember, I´ve gone up and down pretty consistently throughout," Obama said in the ABC interview on Friday. "But the good thing about when you´re down is that usually you´ve got nowhere to go but up." "I got re-elected in part because people did think I was trustworthy and they knew I was working on their behalf," Obama said in the network´s exclusive. A CNN Poll of Polls complied
The human species began as the hybrid offspring of a male pig and a female chimpanzee, a leading geneticist has suggested. The startling claim has been made by Eugene McCarthy, of the University of Georgia, who is also one of the worlds leading authorities on hybridisation in animals. He points out that while humans have many features in common with chimps, we also have a large number of distinguishing characteristics not found in any other primates. Dr McCarthy says these divergent characteristics are most likely the result of a hybrid origin at some point far back in human evolutionary history. What´s more, he suggests,
For Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell, enough was enough. The Senate´s top Republican had watched a Tea Party-driven government shutdown sink the GOP´s already-weak brand and jeopardize McConnell´s own chances of ever becoming majority leader. The solution, he concluded, was that the party´s so-called Establishment had to start fighting back against its most conservative wing. McConnell, an ardent Obamacare opponent, and other Republican pragmatists in Congress, supported the conservatives´ mission to defund Obamacare during budget negotiations, which led to the 16-day shutdown. But the pragmatists also accepted that their odds of success were virtually nil. Democrats ruled the Senate and White House, those
The Washington Examiner recently reported on an academic study on the 2008 presidential election entitled "The Palin Effect" that examined the effect of then Gov. Palin on the John McCain campaign. Its conclusions run counter to conventional wisdom. The cliché, advanced by the media and the now infamous HBO TV show "Game Change," was that Palin helped to cost McCain the election because of her "controversial" personality. In fact, typical of most vice presidential running mates, Palin had a marginal but largely positive effect on McCain´s standing with the voters. She certainly did not drive away independents and moderates, who along
Four more years. 10 trillion more dollars in debt. And by the end of it, we’ll have a nuclear war in the Middle East and mandates forcing you to buy everything from electric cars to Michelle Obama’s trademark Soy and Asphalt pie. The motives behind the Washington Post op-ed argument are… revealing. I watch President Obama, whose approval rating has dipped to 37?percent in CBS News polling — the lowest ever for him — during the troubled rollout of his health-care reform. Many of Obama’s fellow Democrats have distanced themselves from the reform and from the president. Even former president Bill Clinton
He´s a proud family man already, but President Barack Obama will turn to his children when it comes to life after the White House. Sasha Obama could be the deciding factor in whether the first family stay in Washington once he leaves office in three years. In a taped interview with ABC News, the President said his now 12-year-old daughter ´will have a big vote in where we are´ because she will be a sophomore in high school. When Obama leaves office in January 2017 after two terms, eldest daughter Malia could be off in college. Both girls attend the exclusive Sidwell Friends School
Progressive talk radio needs a savior. Just a few dozen stations now carry liberal talkers, as key affiliates in cities with active left-wing politics are falling like dominoes, going dark or switching formats. Detroit’s progressive outlet shut down in January, along with Seattle’s liberal talk station, which changed to sports. And after last year’s election, Portland’s progressive talk station ended its political programming. With the political battlegrounds of 2014 and 2016 on the horizon, reducing the whopping imbalance between conservative radio, with its huge fan base, and the left has become more important than ever, according to those in
Sen. John McCain is starting to sound like a Tea Party “wacko bird.” In a new fundraising letter for the Republican National Committee released Friday, McCain lashed out at “Barack Obama, Harry Reid and Washington liberals,” who he claimed are destroying the United States. Liberals, he warned, “have taken us down a dark and dangerous path defined by record levels of debt, ever-expanding government, and a lead-from-behind defense strategy. There´s not much time left to turn things around.” McCain’s name carries a lot of weight in fundraising because he was the 2008 GOP nominee and is a leading voice of
The time has come to end presidential term limits, because continuing the restrictions on how long one can serve in the country´s highest office is bad for the United States, a university professor argued this week. In an opinion piece published in the Washington Post, Jonathan Zimmerman, a history and education professor at New York University, says deciding whether a president deserves a third, fourth or more terms should be left to the American people, not the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, which placed a two-term limit on the position. As background, here´s an excerpt from the amendment, ratified in
