C.I.A. Warning on Snowden in ’09
Said to Slip Through the Cracks

New York Times, by Eric Schmitt

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 10/11/2013 3:47:00

Washington - Just as Edward J. Snowden was preparing to leave Geneva and a job as a C.I.A. technician in 2009, his supervisor wrote a derogatory report in his personnel file, noting a distinct change in the young man’s behavior and work habits, as well as a troubling suspicion. The C.I.A. suspected that Mr. Snowden was trying to break into classified computer files to which he was not authorized to have access, and decided to send him home, according to two senior American officials. But the red flags went unheeded. Mr. Snowden left the C.I.A. to become a contractor for the National Security

Comments:
What good is PRISM if they don´t even act on their own internal warnings of possible employee malfeasance? And, he Snowden was able to leave the CIA and be hired later by the NSA. The "rest" is the onion peeling before our eyes on our security services ignoring their own charter and bungling their information gathering. [Think recent Boston bombing, Benghazi, Iran, Syria, North Korea, Egypt...].

The USA certainly seems to have a lot of cracks in its systems. Some might say it is ineptness.

Well, that settles it ! We must create a Department of Crack Filling. Just fold it into Homeland Security. Just make sure that the Senate gets to consent to the nomination of Obama´s choice for crack head.

In an apparent reversal of his past campaign statements, President Barack Obama told Fox News´s Bill O´Reilly in a Sunday interview that he does not believe in fundamentally transforming America. O´Reilly read Obama a question from a viewer who asked, "Mr. President, why do you feel it is necessary to fundamentally transform the nation that has afforded you so much opportunity and success?" "I don´t think we need to fundamentally transform the nation," said Obama. "But those are your words," explained O´Reilly. "I think what we have to do is make sure that here in America, if you work hard,

Step aside, Jon Stewart. There´s a new political satirist in town. Hillary Clinton, the former secretary of state and a potential Democratic presidential candidate, took an apparent shot at Fox News during the Super Bowl on Sunday. (Tweet) The tweet, which had been retweeted more than 30,000 times by the start of the game´s fourth quarter, was apparently a reference to the cable news channel´s coverage, which has been highly critical of Democrats and the September 2012 terror attack on the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Clinton has come under fire for the State Department response to the attack.

Hillary Clinton calls on Senate

Washington - Hillary Clinton, the former secretary of state and Democratic presidential heir apparent, has urged her former Senate colleagues not to pass new sanctions on Iran, even as she called the Islamic Republic a “threat to global security”. The intervention from Clinton, who holds a commanding lead in a 2016 Democratic primary contest she has not formally entered, represents both a new opportunity for the Obama administration to rescue its major diplomatic overture from a Congress that largely loathes it and a threat of being undermined by a potent and independent force within the Democratic Party.

With just more than one week to go before convicted killer Christopher Sepulvado is scheduled to die by lethal injection, Louisiana will alter its execution protocol and swap out a one-drug recipe for the same two-drug cocktail used in Ohio executions. In an email statement sent late Monday (Jan. 27), the Louisiana Department of Corrections confirmed it would be changing its execution protocol to allow for the "two-drug protocol" used in Ohio. Previously, the state planned to use just one drug, the barbiturate pentobarbital, to carry out Sepulvado´s Feb. 5 execution. But officials were unable to secure the amount needed to administer a lethal

Federal prosecutors are trying to thwart the easy access that predatory lenders and dubious online merchants have to Americans’ bank accounts by going after banks that fail to meet their obligations as gatekeepers to the United States financial system. The Justice Department is weighing civil and criminal actions against dozens of banks, sending out subpoenas to more than 50 payment processors and the banks that do business with them, according to government officials. In the new initiative, called “Operation Choke Point,” the agency is scrutinizing banks both big and small over whether they, in exchange for handsome fees, enable businesses

Washington - The risk that President Obama may be forced to pull all American troops out of Afghanistan by the end of the year has set off concerns inside the American intelligence agencies that they could lose their air bases used for drone strikes against Al Qaeda in Pakistan and for responding to a nuclear crisis in the region. (Snip) If Mr. Obama ultimately withdrew all American troops from Afghanistan, the C.I.A.’s drone bases in the country would have to be closed, according to administration officials, because it could no longer be protected. Cairo - Islamist militants shot down an Egyptian military helicopter in the Sinai Peninsula with a surface-to-air missile over the weekend, raising new alarms about the terrorist insurgency that developed there in response to the military takeover last summer. The attack — described by witnesses, documented in a video released by the militants, and confirmed by three people briefed on the Egyptian government’s investigation — validated longstanding fears that such weapons would spill into Egypt and beyond after the Libyan civil war tore open Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi’s fearsome arsenals. Known as manpads, for man-portable air defense

Tunis - Tunisia´s national assembly approved the country´s new constitution on Sunday in one of the last steps to establishing full democracy three years after the uprising that toppled autocrat Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali. Just before the constitution vote, Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa appointed a caretaker cabinet as part of a deal to end a crisis between Tunisia´s Islamist party and its secular opposition until new elections this year. Tunisia´s new constitution and progress contrasts sharply with messy transitions in Libya, Egypt and Yemen which are still caught up in turmoil after ousting their own long-standing leaders in 2011 revolts and

When President Obama delivers his State of the Union address Tuesday night, many federal employees will be listening to what the boss-in-chief has to say about them. They shouldn’t get their hopes up too high. Obama has given scant attention to federal employees in his previous State of the Union speeches. Don’t expect this year to be different. One mention was in 2011, when he said: “We’ve frozen the salaries of hard-working federal employees for the next two years.” Two years became three. Of course, everyone with a just cause or a pet project wants a mention in the State of the Union. It is a high-profile address

The Congressional Budget Office estimated on Tuesday that the Affordable Care Act will reduce the number of full-time workers by 2.5 million over the next decade. That is mostly a good thing, a liberating result of the law. Of course, Republicans immediately tried to brand the findings as “devastating” and stark evidence of President Obama’s health care reform as a failure and a job killer. It is no such thing. (SNIP) The new law will free people, young and old, to pursue careers or retirement without having to worry about health coverage.

The Affordable Care Act, aka ObamaCare, became law almost four years ago. It became operational last Oct. 1. Yesterday, Feb. 4, 2014, the ACA may well have been dealt its death blow. The Congressional Budget Office released a major study of the government’s budget and its effect on the overall economy over the next 10 years. In dull bureaucratic language, it delivers a devastating analysis of the inefficiencies, ineffectualities and problematic social costs of ObamaCare. The one-two punch: Virtually as many Americans will lack health coverage in 10 years as before the law was passed — but 2 million fewer

House committees are still digging into the IRS political targeting scandal, and based on a hearing Wednesday there´s more to learn. The day produced more evidence blowing apart President Obama´s claims that there was "not even a smidgen of corruption" or political motivation in the IRS handling of groups applying for tax-exempt status. Mr. Obama wants Americans to believe that the targeting resulted from the confusing tax law governing nonprofits, which he says was "difficult" to interpret and resulted in mere "bureaucratic" mistakes. This is also the Administration´s justification for issuing new regulations governing
