President Obama’s shameful
death-benefit theater

San Diego Union-Tribune [Calif], by Editorial

The Obama administration insisted Tuesday it had no choice but to withhold death benefits to relatives of 1st Lt. Jennifer Moreno, a 25-year-old soldier born and raised in San Diego, and four other soldiers killed since the partial government shutdown began Oct. 1. This is ridiculous and perverse. President Barack Obama has used an expansive — and some legal scholars believe extreme — interpretation of his powers to unilaterally rewrite key provisions of the No Child Left Behind law, the sweeping 2002 measure that drastically reshaped federal education policies. In similar fashion, the president has unilaterally rewritten key provisions of

But yet you saw fit to give Public Broadcasting $445 million in chump change on the SECOND day of the shutdown, Mr. President.

It is really sad that he and his fellow travelers are being watched in all they do. Not by us, but by the Father of us all. That would scare me.

Each of the outrageous moves made by Obama to "hurt" US citizens is a political stunt designed to bring hatred down on house republicans. None of them have worked. The denial of death benefits is the worst one so far. I don´t have to mention what it also did to the morale of soldiers in the field.

When an ultra liberal has California turning against him, his base is eroded down to lofos who share skin color and don´t realize that Mr. Cool is now Mr. Fool.

When house and senate democrats turn against him in significant numbers, he´s finished.

When Carney refused to answer when preezy knew, he said he was pretty upset and immediately called on his attorneys. Ed´s next question after having been stonewalled should have been, "So when did his attorneys know?"

The WH is carrying out a cold and calculated strategy to punish America because House Republicans are not bowing down to his demands. It is starting to backfire badly and this is not going unnoticed by the Democrat pimps who feel forced to defend it. In the meantime their signature achievement of government run health care is an epic failure. Time for Boehner to stop whining about Obama´s refusal to negotiate and go for the political kill. Explain to America what is really going on here.

#8 is right on obama hates America. But so do the 37% who think he is doing a good job. Our schools, colleges and msm all support this rot of his. If we are to survive as a Republic we need to stop the leftest indoctrination that is going on in the educational system. I would start by shutting down all the elite ivy league schools and evicting all the hard core communist professors. Sounds a bit radical but those universities produce nothing but obamas both black and white and it is time stop it.

#16 ~ sorry. You over-rate the abilities of the formerly elite ´ivy league´ schools´ teaching staff.

Obama is a product of foreign intrigue that has little to do with familiar politics in this country, or even Europe ~ rather, it has to do with the great struggle that began with the Cold War in East and South Asia.

Those few years in Indonesia set his play in motion. He´s probably not even aware of it, but the way he imagines the world has far more to do with the replacement of Sukarno by Suharto, the creation and liberation of Malaysia/Singapore, and the development of Australia as a regional power.

The Vietnam War ~ fits in there somewhere but not well.

As I recall it, the Chicoms in Indonesia were literally exterminated in a vast bloodbath before his mother married a culturally Chinese Indonesian citizen who worked for Shell Oil. The few left were in deep hiding ~ and going deeper ~ but a resurgent Islam was just then seeking and gaining power.

To Barry´s young mind America was a place somewhere far away that could reach out and turn the Earth to fire ~ but it was otherwise just an irritant to the ´locals´.

Frankly, I think he still has the thinking of a ´local´ in the Indonesian Archipelago and little understanding of America or Americans. He did not advance beyond the age of 12 in his understanding of ´neighborhood´.

Lofos are ignorant by choice. They vote their pocketbook. The Communists have convinced them they are better off broke and hopeless than under the leadership of the hateful, despicable, tyrannical conservatives who will only shove morality and righteousness down their throats.

It is far better to live in squaller than to live under the thumb of capitalist swine who would make you work for a living and take away your free phones.

These socalled lofo voters are being used by the communists to propagate their agenda and they are winning because the lofos do not want to work or take responsibility for themselves. This is a product of our liberal noneducation system.

But Obama defenders are quick to say that Obama didn´t give the order not to pay the families; some agency attorney did and so Obama will come in to the rescue. Obama is the head of the Executive branch; all these agencies to include DoD and if he hasn´t actually mouthed the words: screw people, he has certainly created the atmosphere to do so. Boehner and Co. need to realize, ASAP, that Obama does NOT have America´s best interests at heart. This isn´t a budget battle between Reagan and Tip O´Neill but for the soul of the country.

The modern history of the liberal Democrat shows that they will abandon the troops and veterans at a moment´s notice if they believe that it will result in them gaining political power.

Once the troops and the veterans look closely at what the liberal Democrats did during the Vietnam era, and now after 9/11, during a time when Americans troops were on the battlefield it should be very difficult for any troop or veteran to vote for the liberal Democrats.

Long-term unemployed struggle

For the long-term unemployed, finding a job is hard — but keeping one may be even harder. New research tracking people who have been out of work for six months or longer found that 23 percent of them landed a job within a few months of the study. But a year later, more than a third of that group was unemployed again or out of the labor force altogether. The findings are the latest in a bleak but growing body of literature suggesting long-term unemployment has become a trap that is difficult to escape. Economists say that means the long-term unemployed could become a permanent underclass, left behind by the nation’s broader

The Social Security Administration announced Monday that it will immediately cease efforts to collect on taxpayers’ debts to the government that are more than 10 years old. The action comes after The Washington Post reported that the government was seizing state and federal tax refunds that were on their way to about 400,000 Americans who had relatives who owed money to Social Security. In many cases, the people whose refunds were intercepted had never heard of any debt, and the debts dated as far back as the middle of the past century. “I have directed an immediate halt to further

Democrats have had a recurring problem in special elections this year: Their voters aren’t turning out. If a weak economy and continued Obamacare problems persist, the November elections could be a disaster for Democrats. Last week, Democrats lost two special elections they weren’t planning to. Arlington, Va., is a classic wealthy ObamaTown, filled with government workers and limousine liberals. Mitt Romney won only 29 percent of the vote in 2012. On the defensive about their prospects in the midterm elections this fall, congressional Democrats have spent all of April savaging the Republican budget proposal, decrying the Koch brothers and championing a series of bills meant to ingratiate themselves to struggling middle-class voters. Following the massacre of grammar-school children in Newtown, Conn., in December 2012, high-powered weapons have been used to kill innocent victims in more senseless public incidents. Those killings, however, are only a fragment of the total harm caused by the misuse of firearms. Each year, more than 30,000 people die in the United States in firearm-related incidents. Many of those deaths involve handguns. The adoption of rules that will lessen the number of those incidents should be a matter of primary concern to both federal and state legislators. The decision to bar entry to the diplomat, who was allegedly involved in the 1979 seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, followed intense political pressure on the administration from Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill. Struggling homeowners across the country could face significant new tax bills if they receive mortgage relief from their banks, a prospect that threatens to slow the housing recovery and put further strain on distressed borrowers. The collapse of the housing market and plunging home prices left millions of people stuck owing more on their mortgages than their homes were worth. Some have worked with their banks to reduce the loan amount to avoid foreclosure or enable a sale. In 2007, Congress adopted a law that spared those homeowners from being taxed on the amount of the loan that was forgiven. But

They want recognition of "Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the undergraduate campus" and an end to "neo-Confederates" marching across campus "to the Lee Chapel on Lee-Jackson Day." The students say they will "engage in civil disobedience" if their demands are not met by September 1st. They added: "The

I began reading the entirety of the first section of the New York Times at nine years old, and continued that practice, more or less, for decades.(snip) ...the power of reverence, intrinsic to what I call the “cascade” of The Times: the near avalanche-like flow and distribution of information through electronic and print networks: through like-minded network newscasts, magazines, local newspaper s, blogs, daytime talk TV, late-night entertainment, statements at media award ceremonies, the celebrity Twitterverse, etc. The cascade rolls through Saturday Night Live, Jon Stewart, The New Yorker, the mouths of third-grade teachers, Elmo, Madonna and Susan Sarandon …through

For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after

To "honor the dignity and work of immigrants," Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi helps Bishop Marc Andrus wash the feet of two children Thursday at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco. Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship." The Democratic leader´s ceremony coincides with Pope Francis´ similar ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week.

WASHINGTON--Rushing to an afternoon vote last month, Sen. Ted Cruz hopped the underground tram to the U.S. Capitol from his office across the street. The Texan planted his black ostrich cowboy boots in the middle of the small subway car without getting so much as a nod from the other senators--Republican or Democrat--amiably chatting or huddled in their seats. Mr. Cruz finds himself standing alone a lot these days. His response to the cold shoulders: "The establishment despised Ronald Reagan" before he became president, "but the people loved him." For the 43-year-old Republican, the Reagan name illuminates his political life´s

Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?
