Measuring Obamacare
enrollment is actually kind of tricky

Washington Post, by Sarah Kliff

Original Article

Posted By:NorthernDog, 10/7/2013 8:57:21 PM

We´re nearly one week into Obamacare´s open enrollment period. What we do know: It´s been a bumpy ride. What we don´t know: How many people have signed up. The White House will not be releasing data on enrollment in the federal marketplace until November, CNN´s Jake Tapper reports. We do have some data trickling out from the states right now though -- but even with those initial numbers, deciding who counts as an Obamacare enrollee can be tricky business. That´s because there are a number of steps in the application process for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

Comments:
It´s tricky to report because it is hard to type-set such a tiny fraction of 1% of the population.

Yes, it´s all too complicated for we mere taxpayers to understand; it´s better to let the Obamanation tell us that all is well, and we should just believe it and stop asking such racist questions.

Only Democrats can make counting——as in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6——difficult to impossible.

In other words, once people get to the pricing aspect, and see the actual COST, no one is signing up. They are ranting "heck no!" and logging off, then firing off nasty tweets, Facebook comments, and general stickershock remarks on webpage articles.

It´s okay to tell the truth, we know no one is willingly going to fork over huge chunks of income, some paying more than their rent or mortgage payments, for health insurance. No one.

No one, until it becomes mandatory, or the fines equal to or are greater than the outrageous premiums.

No one in their right mind that is not a paid government shill...

Uh, Sarah, so this new program is tricky, complicated, hard to understand, not well organized, and hard to measure it´s progress.

But you´re sure it will be a good thing for the country and Obama´s experts will sort things out??

#3, I suspect that´s likely the case.

Besides, if it was a rousing success, they´d have been reporting it.

And that´s why they can´t delay any longer since it would now be construed as a failure.

I imagine many are going on just to see what it would cost them, like a friend did. I doubt they are getting many who actually enroll. In fact, I bet the number of enrollments are so low that it is embarrassing otherwise you know Obie would be shouting it from the top of the WH.

LONDON - NATO says tens of thousands of Russian troops are massed on the border with Ukraine for a potential invasion, yet Western states still lack a strategy to stop Moscow from intervening in its former Soviet neighbors. (Snip) Ultimately, Moscow´s commitment to rebuild the former USSR as its own unilateral sphere of influence may outstrip the determination of Washington and its European allies to stop it. Experts say Moscow has been infiltrating its neighbors ever more deeply, building its influence amongst security forces, government officials and politicians. That, some say, allows it to stir up instability in locations like

The San Francisco 49ers said they are aware of a TMZ report saying quarterback Colin Kaepernick is being investigated for an incident in Miami and are gathering facts on the incident. TMZ reported Thursday that police are in the beginning stages of investigating an alleged incident which TMZ said happened at the Viceroy Hotel in Miami earlier this month. The story said the police were investigating for "possible sexual assault," but Bay Area News Group crime reporter Natalie Neysa Alund wrote that the incident is not being investigated as a sexual assault. No charges have been filed at this point.

ANAHEIM – How do you let visitors with autism, who sometimes have great trouble waiting in line for theme park attractions, go to the front while thwarting other guests who cheat? Disney said it tried to solve the issue in October with a new policy, igniting furor from some quarters. Last week, 16 families with autistic children filed a lawsuit against Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, which includes Anaheim’s Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, saying the new policy violates the Americans with Disabilities Act. Two new surveys clearly show that the number of people who lack health insurance in the United States has dropped — but largely not because people have enrolled in Obamacare exchanges. (Snip) What Gallup doesn´t dive into is where people are gaining insurance. That´s where the new survey from the RAND Corporation comes in. Interestingly, RAND discovered that the vast majority of new insurance coverage came not from enrollments in the Obamacare exchanges, as you might expect. Instead, it was heavily from expansions of coverage by employers and from the expansion of Medicaid — a component of the Affordable Care

Appearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Secretary of State John Kerry defiantly defended his diplomatic efforts, saying that while ambitious, they were better than doing nothing. While the purpose of Tuesday’s hearing was to pick through the State Department’s budget, it was Kerry’s record that came under scrutiny as his old colleagues on the committee accused him of taking on too many responsibilities with too few results. “I think you’re about to hit the trifecta,” Sen. A new poll conducted by a Democratic pollster is warning of potential impending disaster for Democrats in this year´s midterm elections because of a familiar problem — diminished turnout among voters on whom they are reliant. The Washington Post´s Greg Sargent got an early look at the poll, which was conducted by Democratic pollster Stan Greenberg of Democracy Corps for Women’s Voices Women Vote. The poll found that voters in the so-called "Rising American Electorate" — unmarried women, minorities, and younger voters — are much less likely to vote this year than in 2012. The disparity is key.
