Warning bells: Is US shutdown a
brewing African-American revolt?

The Times of India, by Chidanand Rajghatta

WASHINGTON: The US government shutdown enters its fifth day, a week after the horrific carnage by a mentally ill African-American man in which he kills a dozen people before he is cut down by police. An emotionally unstable African-American woman crashes a security fence near the White House and leads a hair-trigger alert cops on a high-speed car chase before she is mowed down by cops using overwhelming force. On Friday, another man, also African-American, pours gasoline on himself in front of the Capitol sets fire to himself in a rare attempt at self-immolation in the United States. It is not

I worry that the liberals will plant a madman in the midst of the vets march on Oct 13. I suspect that we are winning and the acts of a madman could shift the playing field in Obama´s favor. Playing with Obama on his terms carries a lot of risk.

The best they can seem to find about the impact on ordinary Americans has to do with using National Parks for weddings. If a marriage is going to last it will last no matter where the ceremony takes place, though I can understand disappointment. I also understand that towns around the National Parks and Monuments, etc. can suffer a loss of tourism, but at the same time it is heartening to see that some are defying the feds. This is what is needed. And, I wish all ldotters would approach a National Park Ranger if they can find one and ask why they are doing what they are doing. They will almost invariably say "just following orders." Then remind them that was the main excuse of the Nuremburg Trial defendants, "only following orders."

I despise that term "African-American". I have some very dear friends from the Congo who fled their homeland in 2000 in the midst of a civil war and miraculously made it to America, even though one of their children almost died in that journey. They legally obtained their American citizenship some years ago. They are true African-Americans, because Africa is where they were born and lived the first few decades of their lives. Yes they are black, but they are a far cry from the American black culture...they were not raised that way. They are the most precious, sincere, non-cynical, Christian people I know!

#4, it would appear to me that your friends are actually Congolese-Americans, if they choose to characterize themselves as such, since that this the ´nation´ of their birth. I characterize my race interchangeably as Black or African American, the latter because I have the same deficit most African Americans have--no way of knowing what African ´nation or nations´ represent the roots of the family.

Oh, and I also find the analysis this foreign, DC based reporter idiotic...

FTA------------------------

In many ways, the current shutdown is part of a proxy fight between deeply conservative white lawmakers who see the Obama administration´s agenda as favoring blacks and minorities versus liberal legislators trying to set right historical and contemporary imbalances.

It takes a raving tyrant to do a proper job of this. But it´s cool because of his great good intentions.

I agree with one thing this author says:

"[A] visitor from more turbulent parts of the globe may well think the US is going the way of the Third World, given the kind of unrest that is roiling Washington DC."

This is lamentably true. But the rest of the article is nothing but left-wing claptrap.

This view from India is cloudy, to say the least. Probably been getting their dis-info from the statist´s media/hollyweird activists, who always seem to be intent upon disturbing the domestic tranquility with false accusations about the American people.

Where is any responsible statesmanship/leadership of goodwill? Pres. Reagan stands tall as the example of a President who encouraged the best nature in everyone. That sadly is not the example being set currently by some. ´Mr. President, tear down this senseless animosity!´

Ah yes, the race card. This time played from India.

Nevertheless, Obama is clearly roiling the citizenry and attempting to roil the markets. He seems to me to be fishing --- even stocking the pond --- for a pretext for some unprecedented action(s).

I believe Obama´s idol is not Marx, or some European socialist leader. His idol is Hugo Chavez.

Ann Coulter takes up ‘Mitt

Conservative columnist Ann Coulter — who used her talk show platform in the last presidential election cycle to campaign hard for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney — has taken up the mantra once again, calling on Republicans to give the failed White House bidder another shot in 2016. She made the suggestion during a discussion on Sean Hannity’s radio show while speaking of her new book, “Never Trust a Liberal Over 3-Especially a Republican.” Ms. Coulter also addressed the question of Mr. Romney’s shortcomings by saying that his 2012 loss wasn’t entirely his fault. “I think too much blame, not only in this

He’s been hammered for going around Congress with executive orders. But he’s within his authority—and he should go further on voting and transparency to make government work better. With Congress paralyzed, President Obama has promised to use his “pen and phone” to overcome the ongoing dysfunction and get some work done. And the White House has already acted several times to help improve America’s economy. But such policies, no matter how valuable, will achieve little if we do not fix our broken democracy. Allow me to suggest some ideas for how the president can do just that. First, some historical context. Presidents

Here is a selection of highlights from Friday’s release of documents from the Clinton presidency. The cache is part of a total of about 33,000 pages of presidential records that had been held back from various public records releases because of legal reasons exempting them from disclosure. A Clinton administration memo (page 674) shows a White House that was acutely aware of the first lady’s image problems as officials contemplated how to soften perceptions of Hillary Clinton and how to “build, energize and expand” her natural base. The latest cache of previously withheld Clinton documents includes an

We used the same gag in October, though ObamaCare supporters were the butt of our joke. The GOP has been hijacked. That’s right, hijacked. Over the past 100 years, an elite progressive minority has taken the Republican Party far afield from its conservative platform and the interests and values of its grassroots conservative base. I’ll admit that, in the aftermath of the disappointments of the 2012 elections, conservatives like me are angry. We are angry at being blamed for Mitt Romney’s defeat, when we argued from the beginning that he was a Big Government establishment politician and that if he ran a content-free campaign, he would lose. We are angry at the disrespect shown to limited-government constitutional conservatives

As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent.
