Boy Boards Plane To Vegas
At MSP Without Ticket

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO/AP) — A 9-year-old Minneapolis boy was able to get through security and onto a plane at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport without a ticket, an airport spokesman said Sunday. Security officials screened the boy at airport shortly after 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Metropolitan Airports Commission spokesman Patrick Hogan said. The boy then boarded Delta Flight 1651, which left for Las Vegas at 11:15 a.m. (Snip) A spokesperson with the Transportation Security Agency pointed out that staffing is currently low due to the number of employees furloughed in the wake of the federal government shutdown, but frontline officers are working

Comments:
It took this long for TSA to decide to lay blame with the sequester or the government shutdown. Regardless, a 9 year old outsmarted the best that TSA had to offer.

I have just enough cynicism to think that this was a test. A probe to see if it´s possible for a young Islamist maniac to get through security somehow. Where was his ticket? why wasn´t he screened? He should have been checked at the door of the airplane for an escort.

What´s the general IQ of a TSA agent?

The kid is probably a plant and the whole story is probably a lie to make it look like the shutdown is to blame. It´s ridiculous to think that, despite the innate stupidity of TSA agents, a 9 year old could board a plane like this. The TSA was probably ordered to let this plant through and the crew thought because he made it through "security" he was legit.

Considering the growing Muslim population of the Twin Cities causes me to wonder about the background of the child.

Judging from the interesting "hadn´t seen much of him today" statement from the parents they didn´t seem overly concerned about the whereabouts of their 9 year old boy. Unusual response.

Spring´s thaw is reviving the economy, too. A recent batch of government and business reports show a U.S. economy emerging from winter´s deep freeze. Economists had expected the growth to accelerate in 2014 after two years of slow and steady improvement. But an unusually bitter winter sent factories, hiring and consumer spending into hibernation. Now, as temperatures rise, the economy is regaining momentum. (Snip) Shopping has also recovered along with temperatures. Total U.S. retail sales rose last month by 1.1 percent, led by purchases of autos and furniture. Consumers account for about 70 percent of all economic activity, making them

Anger is brewing among service members and veterans groups after the publication of a New York Times op-ed that tries to link veterans and white supremacists. The piece came just days after a 73-year-old white supremacist and veteran, Frazier Glenn Miller, was arrested in an attack that killed three people at a Jewish center in Overland Park, Kansas. In the column, op-ed contributor Kathleen Belew writes: In 2009, the Department of Homeland Security issued a nine-page report detailing the threat of domestic terrorism by the white power movement. Russia and Ukraine struck a deal Thursday to end unrest in eastern Ukraine stoked by pro-Russian militants, Secretary of State John Kerry said. The militants must refrain from violence, lay down their illegal weapons and return seized buildings to their rightful owners, Kerry said. Kerry called the agreement “a good day’s work,” but warned that the United States would impose further sanctions on Russia if it didn’t see progress soon. “None of us leave here with the sense that the job is done because the
