Nine Year Old Keeps
Climbing with Delta

Guardian Express [Las Vegas, NV], by Paul Roy

Original Article

A few years ago, Delta Airlines ran an ad campaign with the theme “Keep Climbing.” That’s exactly what a nine year old boy did when he managed to sneak aboard a plane at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport Thursday and fly to Las Vegas. He had no ticket or boarding pass when he walked by airport security and boarded the Delta Airlines flight. The boy has not been identified but officials say his parents are cooperating. During the flight the flight crew did think it was suspicious that the boy was traveling alone and didn’t have a seat assignment and

How nice that the parents are ´cooperating´.

Did he drive himself to the airport?

there is a lot of very strange in this story

as Diamond on Delta (unfortunately) I can´t believe he just managed to "slip on board" and not be escorted off once he had no boarding pass - there just are not that many empty seats on most flights and many are full

how did he get past TSA?

and the free meal ticket is got to be something he was told about or experienced - having a hard time imagining that a 9 year old could come up with all this on their own

pictures? family name? "parents are cooperating" Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

from MSP - large "ethnic" population - things that make you go, humm...

In BOYERS, Pa. — The trucks full of paperwork come every day, turning off a country road north of Pittsburgh and descending through a gateway into the earth. Underground, they stop at a metal door decorated with an American flag. Behind the door, a room opens up as big as a supermarket, full of five-drawer file cabinets and people in business casual. About 230 feet below the surface, there is easy-listening music playing at somebody’s desk. This is one of the weirdest workplaces in the U.S. government — both for where it is and for what it does. Here, inside the caverns

When I read that the DC Abortion Fund was thanking its donors with the gift of a “lovely” wire-hanger pendant, I assumed that this was going to be one of those made-up stories that make the grandmotherly rounds on Facebook but is not true. It is true, and the DC Abortion Fund is proud of itself. We as a people should not be. But first a word of praise for the DC Abortion Fund: The group at least has the intellectual integrity to put the word “abortion” right there in the middle of its name — no NARAL-style “choice” euphemisms for

Hawaii Law Lets Police

Honolulu police officers have urged lawmakers to keep an exemption in state law that allows undercover officers to have sex with prostitutes during investigations, touching off a heated debate. Authorities say they need the legal protection to catch lawbreakers in the act. Critics, including human trafficking experts and other police, say it´s unnecessary and could further victimize sex workers, many of whom have been forced into the trade. Police haven´t said how often — or even if — they use the provision. And when they asked legislators to preserve it, they made assurances that internal policies and procedures are in place to

In the Washington media world, there’s no more rarefied spot, both for the host and the guests, than that of the network Sunday morning shows. So why are they so predictable, and predictably boring? Most members of Congress would kill to be interviewed on one of the shows, since getting such an appearance instantly brands you as an important person whose opinions are worth listening to. But “Meet the Press,” the oldest and most venerated of the shows, has been struggling of late, falling behind “This Week” and “Face the Nation” in the ratings, leading to some rumors about David Gregory’s

If you lease a car, don´t think you can get out of payments just because you´re dead. Death, it turns out, is considered "early termination" of your contract, and that can mean thousands of dollars in penalty fees. Sally Shafton, 81, learned this recently after her husband, Bob, died of prostate cancer. She now faces charges totaling $2,352.72 from Toyota Financial Services. Her husband had leased a brand-new Prius from Manhattan Beach Toyota a year ago. He knew at the time that he was ill but, according to his wife, "the salesman assured him that death would qualify for interruption

Before the Senate left town last week, 10 senators reached a compromise to reauthorize the Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) program for five months, in addition to retroactively paying benefits that expired on Dec. 28. The bill was fully paid for and would introduce reforms to the program including ending payments to wealthy individuals and giving more individualized

In 2011, over 8,000 kids were suspended from preschool — preschool! — in America. More than half were black, despite comprising less than half of the student population. The odds are probably better than even that you will be annoyed by that. Which is fine. I accept that response. And there are a lot of possibilities that could explain how this bit of data is an aberration. As the Associated Press reports, the

That goes beyond hypocritical, and I think the American media and the international media has every right to call her and the Obama administration on that — that they permitted that to happen,” said Tom Whalen, a political history professor at Boston University. “It makes you shake your head, albeit sadly.” The first lady stopped at Peking University in Beijing yesterday
