5 Lessons For Entrepreneurs
From Obamacare´s Failed Launch

Forbes, by Joseph Steinberg

Recent polls show that a majority of Americans would prefer to delay or terminate implementation of the The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), AKA Obamacare. While some citizens certainly oppose the law for ideological or macro-economic reasons, it is fascinating that many people who both originally supported the law and whom stand to gain from its enactment have become increasingly uneasy with its actual implementation. Behind this phenomenon is a tremendous teaching opportunity for entrepreneurs, offering us all five clear lessons. 1. Communicate to dispel fear of change People naturally fear change, and societal changes that substantially impact

The attitude that it´s a marketing problem shows the depth of the nation´s sickness.

The problem with ObamaCare is not a poor markieting strategy.

It´s that the product sucks and that free citizens do not embrace police state tactics from a president or his captive Supreme Court.

Illinois governor´s race

CHICAGO — When superrich Republican Bruce Rauner decided to run for governor of Illinois, it was clear this wouldn´t be the kind of race the state was accustomed to. Rauner, who made his fortune as a venture capitalist, was new to campaigning and bragged of being beholden to no one. He came out swinging at entrenched special interests and "government union bosses" with an intensity not seen before. (Snip) Rauner is considered the heavy favorite in the four-way GOP primary, as reflected in fundraising and recent polls. The outcome will determine who faces Gov. Pat Quinn, whom many Democrats see

PARIS — U.S. and European diplomats failed in a daylong effort to get Russia and Ukraine to begin direct negotiations aimed at ending Moscow´s military incursion into the former Soviet state, raising the prospect of a protracted standoff. In a hectic day of talks that shifted from the American embassy in Paris to the presidential Élysée Palace to the French foreign ministry, officials focused on arranging a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his new Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Deshchytsia. When that encounter didn´t happen—even though they were in the same building—Secretary of State John Kerry played down the failure

In a city that isn’t known for its religiosity, Presbyterian pastor Rev. Mieke Vandersall says she’s surprised every Ash Wednesday by how many New Yorkers stream through the subways and sidewalks with crosses on their foreheads. “It’s a little exposing,” Vandersall told The News about the old Christian tradition. “And a lot of people that want to get ashes are not church-going people.” It’s these folk — the people with no space for church in their lives but who still want to experience spiritual connections — that Vandersall and others like her want to bring back into the fold. CHICAGO - Chicago broke a history record, although people there aren’t rounding a victory lap. Winter temperatures in the city reached zero degrees F. or below the most number of days since recordkeeping began. “It’s not just perception that it’s felt particularly brutal this year. The numbers say it,” National Weather Service meteorologist Richard Castro told the Chicago Tribune Tuesday. The unusually brittle winter brought subzero temperatures to Chicago early, starting in November, where they continued periodically through this week, when temperatures fell to minus-3 degrees at O’Hare International Airport, totaling 26 days when temperatures hit zero or lower. In a press conference Tuesday Sergey Aksenov, who was named Prime Minister last week, said the new government in Kiev was illegal and “mad”. “We don’t trust the Kiev government and we asked help from the Russian federation to help us with the situation in Crimea,” he said. “We control everything, every activity.” He asked all Ukrainian military forces in Crimea to lay down their arms and leave their bases. The majority of uninsured Americans are still largely unaware of Obamacare and the crucial March 31 deadline to sign up for coverage through the new exchanges. Those without health insurance April 1 and beyond will be subjected to a tax penalty imposed under the new healthcare law. The latest survey from Kaiser Family Foundation found some 76 percent of Americans without coverage are unaware of the deadline. Moreover, just 12 percent of uninsured respondents said they knew “a lot” about Obamacare, while 24 percent knew “some” information about the law, 36 percent knew “a little” and 26 percent knew “nothing

The crisis in Ukraine has brought out a fresh round of critics of President Obama´s foreign policy who see a pattern emerging: the president tries to assert his authority and direct events on the world stage with empty threats, which inevitably have no follow through. With each instance, U.S. power grows weaker as foreign powers view Mr. Obama as the president who cried wolf. The latest case: Mr. Obama´s public warning to Russia to stay out of Ukraine was followed by an invasion just days later. It´s just the latest failure, say critics who point to Syria as an example.

Where Lois Lerner goes, drama follows. On Wednesday, the former IRS officer again invoked the Fifth before the House Oversight Committee. That precipitated a heated exchange between the committee’s Republican chairman, Darrell Issa, and Democratic ranking member Elijah Cummings, who called the hearings “un-American.” And that spat has become the story. No doubt that is exactly what Cummings had in mind. Because it distracts attention from the substance of the hearings — and from the questions raised by e-mails and public remarks Lois Lerner wrote, received or made when she was IRS Director of Tax Exempt Organizations. WASHINGTON — Charles G. and David H. Koch, the billionaire brothers who are perhaps the best-known patrons of conservative Republican politics, are bespectacled and in their 70s. They look genial enough. But Democrats are embarking on a broad effort that aims to unmask the press-shy siblings and portray them, instead, as a pair of villains bent on wrecking progressive politics. On Thursday, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is starting a digital campaign that will use Internet ads and videos, as well as social media, to tie Republican Senate candidates to the policies and actions of the Koch brothers.
