The barrycades at the WWII Memorial and Lincoln Memorial have received most of the attention. But on Friday a group of Vets decided to storm the barrycades erected by the Obama administration at the Vietnam Memorial, as reported by the local NBC News station (via The Patriot Perspective): (snip video) Like the hundreds of World War II veterans who came to National Mall to pay their respects this week, a group of Vietnam veterans found a barricade blocking the way to their memorial Friday. News4´s Mark Segraves said two U.S. Park Service Rangers manning the gate asked that the group
Bring wire cutters! Create a diversion, cut the wires and flood the zone! This barrycading is costing more than leaving them open. It is democrat spitefulness and hypocrisy at its finest. It shows their utter contempt for the common man.
This is beginning to remind me of one of our country´s most infamous riots that required Major General Douglas MacArthur to come in with Federal Troops in 1932 to quell the "Bonus Army War" in Washington DC. WWI vets and their families had built a make-shift city to demand redemption in cash for their service certificates from World War I citing legislation passed in 1924 to compensate them for their service. The government refused and it got ugly for the vets.
As a result of this and subsequent demonstrations, the Congress, not FDR, paid the veterans their monies in 1936, years ahead of the due date of 1945.
By the way, Washington DC is exempted from the Posse Comitatus Act.
The Geneva negotiations between the so-called P5+1 powers and Iran are a mere “facade,” because the terms of a deal on Iran’s nuclear program have been negotiated in talks between a top adviser to President Barack Obama and a leading Iranian nuclear official that have continued in secret for more than a year, Israeli television reported Sunday. Despite ostensible full coordination between the US and Israel over strategies for thwarting Iran’s nuclear weapons drive, the administration did not keep Israel fully informed on those talks, Channel 10 news reported, but Jerusalem nonetheless has a pretty clear picture of what has
Hours after President Obama stumbled through his retreat on ObamaCare last week, a liberal friend was telling me how disappointed she is in him. The insurance debacle, she said with resignation, was the final straw and led her to conclude he lacks the right stuff to be a good president. “It’s so discouraging,” she sighed. “I give up.” She’s not alone. Poll after poll shows that millions of former Obama-bots now concede he is not worthy of their trust and are stampeding off the bus. The magic ride is over and they just want to go home and sleep it
Alec Baldwin’s “Up Late” program will not air tonight or next Friday on MSNBC in the wake of comments the actor made while dealing with reporters seeking to question him about a salacious court case in which he is involved. “I did not intend to hurt or offend anyone with my choice of words, but clearly I have – and for that I am deeply sorry,” Baldwin said in a statement posted on MSNBC’s website. “Words are important. I understand that, and will choose mine with great care going forward. What I said and did this week, as I was
A 90-foot-wide sinkhole that opened up in Dunedin, Fla., early Thursday appears to have finally stopped growing — but not before it destroyed two homes beyond repair. Authorities planned to start razing the two houses Friday morning after the 56-foot-deep sinkhole swallowed a screened-in porch and a 14-foot-long boat at one property and the master bedroom, a swimming pool and a garage at the second. "They´re going to start demolishing the houses. We´re sending them to a recycling location where [the homeowners are] going to try to get some personal belongings out of the houses, anything they can salvage," said
Well, it’s been a pretty busy couple of days for Obamacare. First we got the enrollment numbers, except for the one we’d like to know, which is how many people have actually gone through the process of enrolling in a plan. There has been a sort of Talmudic debate over the meaning of the word “enroll” -- should we count folks who had chosen a plan and asked to be invoiced, or should we count only those who paid? Some of the people who enroll will not actually end up paying their premium. However, because premiums for January plans aren’t
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - As Staten Island parents vent their frustrations about the state´s new Common Core Curriculum standards, parents throughout the state are preparing to keep their children home from school on Monday, in what´s being labeled as "National Common Core Protest Day." The grassroots movement is being fueled by a Facebook page created by an upstate mom, Janet Wilson. So far more than 3,600 people have clicked on the page saying they were going to take part in the protest. Parents have shared the event on Facebook pages across the country.
Bishop Thomas Paprocki of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield said he will offer prayers for “exorcism in reparation for the sin of same-sex marriage” at the same time Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn is expected to sign the same-sex marriage bill next week. (snip) “It is scandalous that so many Catholic politicians are responsible for enabling the passage of this legislation and even twisting the words of the pope to rationalize their actions despite the clear teaching of the church,” Paprocki said in a statement.
The new prime time lineup at Fox News continues to demolish its competition. Last week, FNC almost doubled the combined viewers of CNN and MSNBC from 8PM to 11PM. During this time period, FNC averaged 2.1 million total viewers and 376k in the important demographic of folks aged 25 to 54. MSNBC had 716k and 202k respectively while CNN brought in 433k and 146k. For the week, only ESPN brought in more cable viewers than FNC in prime time. TVNewser reports that this was Fox´s second-best week of the year only bested by the week of the Boston Marathon bombing.
There’s more trouble for the Obamacare rollout. The Restaurant Opportunities Center in New York has abruptly withdrawn as an Obamacare Navigator for New York state. In documents obtained by ROC Exposed under NY’s Freedom of Information Act, ROC provides no explanation for suddenly pulling out of the program it had signed on to in April. Curiously, ROC NY continues to advertise itself as a navigator on its website, telling site visitors even today that ROC is “here to help you navigate the options” and “help you and your family enroll” in a “low-cost or free health insurance plan through the
Sen. Bill Nelson lashed out Wednesday at the contractors charged with building the ObamaCare website. Addressing Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius at a Senate Finance Committee hearing, the Florida Democrat said the contractors should be held to account for the site’s disastrous launch. “As someone who has fought and bled for this ... I want you to hold them to account,” Nelson said. “I want you to burn their fingers and make them pay for not being responsible and producing a product that all of us could be proud of.” Nelson asked Sebelius if she had any legal
A mortar round slammed into a Damascus building that houses the Vatican´s embassy on Tuesday, eyewitnesses and a spokesman said, the latest in a string of attacks that have hit foreign diplomatic missions in the Syrian capital. It was not clear if the diplomatic mission near the upscale Abu Roummaneh district was specifically targeted in the early morning shelling, which damaged the roof. No casualties were reported and no one claimed responsibility for the attack. Rebels fighting to topple President Bashar Assad have frequently fired mortars into the capital, where the government tries to portray life as normal despite the
WASHINGTON — Little more than a week after millions of consumers received health care cancellation notices, lawmakers in both parties are pushing legislation to redeem President Barack Obama´s long-ago pledge that anyone liking their coverage will be allowed to keep it under the nation´s controversial new law. (snip) Democratic officials said top administration aides got a close-up view of the cancellation controversy last week, when Sen. Joe Donnelly, D-Ind., said at a closed-door meeting of the party´s rank and file that his son had received notice his coverage was being terminated.
Oprah Winfrey has said racism is still a problem around the world and the only way for it to end is for generations of racists to die out. In an interview with the BBC to coincide with the release of her latest film The Butler, the chat show host said generations had been ´marinated´ in racism. The 59-year-old added that President Obama was treated with disrespect because of the color of his skin and said she feels fortunate to have been born after segregation ended in the U.S. [Snip] She highlighted an incident in 2009 when Republican congressman Joe Wilson
Is the president’s Obamacare “fix” part of the Obama administration’s pattern of deceit or a product of its frequent delusion?A cursory discussion with almost anyone who knows anything about the insurance business would have alerted the president to the fact that his proposal is unworkable. The initial take from experts on both the right and the left is that the president did not fix anything yesterday. Insurance industry experts agree that the very idea that canceled health policies can be renewed or extended for one year is laughable
Pollster John Zogby reports in our weekly White House report card that President Obama’s health care program is still troubled, but he gets credit for taking ownership and trying to fix it. "Forget about Iran and unemployment, this week was all about Obamacare and it was a ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ moment. As Tevye would say: ´Un da vun hand, but un da udda hand…´ “So we have the president admitting he broke his promise to Americans when he promised they could keep their plans. And the GOP gloated, mocked, preached doom and a failed presidency, and made a solemn vow to
Last week I was informed by the agent who handles my firm’s health-care insurance that, come 2014, our group plan will be cancelled and replaced with an ObamaCare plan.SNIP Well, here’s how I see it. It sure looks to me as if the President of the United States, members of his administration, and Democratic Congressional leaders didn’t just lie. I think they intentionally perverted the truth. And I think they did it because, if they didn’t, they knew the bill wouldn’t pass through Congress.
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Some 50 years after John F. Kennedy´s sole presidential term was cut short by an assassin´s bullets, nearly three-quarters of Americans believe Kennedy will go down in history as an outstanding or above-average president. This is the highest retrospective rating given to any of the 11 presidents who have held office since Dwight Eisenhower. Another fifth of the public sees the slain president as average, while just 3% rank him as below average or poor. Kennedy was killed on Nov. 22, 1963, and the 50-year anniversary of his assassination is being marked by a bevy of new
Congressional Republicans have Obamacare right where they want it. The idea of a one-year delay of the law, always far-fetched as long as the Democrats controlled the Senate, is suddenly looking plausible. “I think there needs to be a one-year suspension of the entire law, at least, if not a longer suspension,” says Georgia Republican Tom Price. “The Senate Democrats and the president are the ones that have to decide it needs to be done.” When asked about a delay, House Republican whip Kevin McCarthy chuckles but doesn’t answer. Instead, he suggests that the law’s destructiveness could upend the entire health
She didn’t write about ‘Protecting the Heart of Christmas’ at all—instead, the eternally offended governor may have penned the perfect manual for another holiday altogether: Festivus. Initially I planned to ignore this week’s release of Good Tidings and Great Joy, Sarah Palin’s book waging war on the war on Christmas. Few political hucksters milking the culture war for an easy buck peddle antics more shopworn than the annual fear-mongering that secularist Scrooges are coming for our creches. But then I couldn’t stop wondering: What happens when the Queen of Grievance takes up arms on behalf of the Prince of Peace’s
His actor parents are well known activists and Stephen Ira Beatty seems determined to follow in their footsteps. The eldest child of Warren Beatty and Annette Bening, who revealed he was transgender at the age of 14, appears in a new public service announcement (PSA) urging New York to change its Medicaid regulation which excludes transgender people from accessing healthcare. Stephen, 21, appears confident and informed as he speaks about the problem, saying: ‘I grew up outside of New York, but I´ve always known I´ve wanted to move here for the city´s vibrant artistic community. ‘As a trans person, I
U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan told a group of state schools superintendents Friday that he found it “fascinating” that some of the opposition to the Common Core State Standards has come from “white suburban moms who — all of a sudden — their child isn’t as brilliant as they thought they were and their school isn’t quite as good as they thought they were.” Yes, he really said that. But he has said similar things before. What, exactly, is he talking about? In his cheerleading for the controversial Common Core State Standards — which were approved by 45 states and the
The headline is a statement to, not a quote from Boehner, but it was worth the deception to make the point. President Obama has been given so much slack by an enabling Washington D.C. media, that Obama is now hanging onto the rope to avoid falling into the abyss. The fawning media who placed all their political bets on his success, is unwilling to admit publicly (and perhaps even privately) what they know in their brains but unwilling to let their heart in on: Obama is and always was a phony.
WASHINGTON - A terrifying new ‘game’ that’s already caused deaths in Syracuse, St. Louis and New Jersey is sweeping the nation, and it preys upon unsuspecting people walking the streets, anywhere. A recent report from New York-based CBS 2 shed light on the growing trend, displaying unsettling footage of teens participating in this game – which goes by the name ‘Knockout’ – and involves randomly targeting passersby, with the ultimate goal being to knock them out with one punch as they walk by. One victim shown in the footage was 46-year-old Ralph Santiago of Hoboken, N.J., who was found dead with his
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has entered the final, mortifying stage of denial where one flails feebly about in the desperate search for an argument that might generate some traction. The spectacular collapse of Democratic standing in public opinion polls has prompted Democrats to voluntarily chip away at the very financial foundation of the Affordable Care Act – a prospect that any pundit would have deemed unthinkable just three weeks ago. Democrats are terrified, but Pelosi, an old pro, never wants to let them see her sweat. To that end, during a press conference with her fellow Democratic leaders
