Few buy into ObamaCare by day 3
New York Post, by Bruce Golding

ObamaCare is attracting lots of window shoppers, but not that many buyers. Figures from the handful of states releasing information show that only a tiny fraction of the people inquiring about President Obama’s controversial, government-mandated insurance have actually agreed to buy it since the policies went on sale Tuesday. In Connecticut — where ObamaCare was predicted to send prices for individual policies soaring — 498 residents had completed applications for coverage as of midday Thursday, out of 85,000 unique visitors to the Access Health CT Web site and another 4,000 calls to its help line, spokesman Jason Madrak said. That works out to

Two phrases come to mind:

1. "If people don´t want to come out to the ballpark, how are you gonna stop ´em?" --the great Yogi Berra

2. "It´s the best dog food in the world. There´s only one problem; the dogs won´t eat it!"

People are still voting with their feet; but the totalitarian lurking not-so-deep with Nobama, ValJarJar, Hairy Reid, Soros, etc. will soon kick in. You MUST buy this, NOW! You don´t know what´s good for you; WE know what´s good!

Stories of snake salesmen, and gun fighters are legendary in the history of our country; however, the actual facts are, percentage wise, very few were duped, or gunned down.

So,#1 gets a thumbs-up from me!

Of course many people will "look´ at the sites, including a large portion of people who have no need for the insurance, but when those that actually might need it see the costs, the coverage, the deductibles, the co-pays, the providers available, the annual cap, and so forth, they opt out and will pay a penalty, if necessary. The real problem is the financial and health care deficiencies that people who actually sign up may run into a year later, when they realize they did not understand what they were buying and can in no way afford it, similar to sub-prime housing. The law should be entitled Obama´s sub-prime health care law.

I wonder if the only buyers, are people with "rated" policies currently with very high premiums. THEY actually MAY be getting a premium break. Most people who have coverage are finding the cost is higher, but their renewal rates are going up too.

After only 3 days the moonbats I know on FB have stopped mentioning the shutdown and seem to have forgotten all about OScare as the reason for it, if they ever noticed. Certainly none of them have signed up or they would have recorded their adventures in detail.

After all the heartbreak and fear about this looming horror, wouldn´t it be something if the evil beast died of nothing more than apathy?

Silly people! Don´t confuse Obamacare with "Obama´s care". You see, Lord Obama cares about each and every one of us. He loves us and only demands that we submit to His will. That is "Obama´s care" and, of course, it´s free - and wonderful! Obamacare, on the other hand, is socialist and costs, like, trillions or something. Whatever. So stay focused on the healing power of Obama´s care and you´ll be fine!

This morning´s Raleigh News and Disturber, which is a hard left wing rag, actually had several letters to the editor lamenting about the ridiculously high premiums being forced upon everyday Americans. I honestly do not see how these poor folks are going to pay for this and still manage a mortgage, car payments, general living expense, etc. This is the liberal´s way to make things "fair"...universal misery.

I hope John Roberts is enjoying this. The Affordable Care Act that was submitted to the Supreme Court was not constitutional as submitted and John Roberts volunteered an assist: consider the premiums as a tax. Robers had no obligation to tell the Democrats how to fix it by suggesting it be classified as a tax. He should have voted it down and turned it back to them and let them figure out how to fix it.If the Democrats resubmitted it as a tax even a few Democrats would have jumped ship because Obama told us over and over it was not a tax. Thumbs down on John Roberts.

I´m beginning to think that was the plan all along. What do you want to bet that money will go into the general revenue and never be used to pay for healthcare.

This is idiotic on a grand scale. To insure security, why didn´t they program the healthcare.gov servers to only accept https connections?

Single payer is Obama´s ultimate goal. That is why they are not all that concerned it is a disaster. They want it to fail. They knew premiums would increase. They also knew they had to have the mandate so they could coerce enough people to join. Then they will sit back and let it get so bad that the people will cry for help from the government and the solution Barry and his minions will offer, of course, is single payer. The people will cheer. Never giving a thought that they have traded personal freedom for the promise of free health care that will be inferior, rationed, and run by bureaucrats who don´t give a flying fig for their well being. Free is never free and Obama´s "free" will cost you your life.

Anybody here remember Canada´s universal long-gun registry? It did indeed die, eventually "officially" killed, simply because of massive non-participation/non-compliance. The RCMP, charged with enforcing it, threw up their hands and said given the numbers of non-compliant gun owners, it would cost too much in both manpower and money to enforce it. I see some small ray of hope that #2, or maybe #10, may be on to something.

I´m with #21. What we´re seeing is a very expensive and massive head-fake. A means to an end. The hunger for power knows no satiety.

While the intentions of the House GOP were admirable, having the ACA roll out now exposes its flaws now rather than a month before the 2014 election. That will be the last and best opportunity to change the course and clip the ambitions of this administration short of civil insurrection. And that is an option, too. It worked before.

It was just an insane test of US gulability.
Resistance, massive, can nullify it.
Even the welfare hogs might resist it because it costs so much cash money.
Either way, the failure was planned to activate the IRS threatening millions of citizens with massive fines, prison, death.

If the Republicans have trouble actually defunding Obamacare, there is another way to throw a moonkey-wrench into Obama´s weasel plans, just defund the IRS. Obama´s IRS goons can´t enforce Obamacare on taxpaying citizens if they don´t have the personnel to enforce it and threaten us with. Abolish the IRS and you put a stake through the heart of Obamacare. I am all for civil disobedience. Maybe the Government goons can make an example of even several thousand Americans, but can they handle 50-100 million people who just say NO to Obamacare?

You won´t be hearing about that #34, because it´s just not true. I mean provable not true. The insurance companies that saw the writing on the wall, bailed from the states that took on the 0-care exchanges. I think 36 states opted for the "federal exchanges."
Which leaves other states, like Texas, still open to BCBS, among others.

Proponents of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) insist that the law will extend health insurance to millions, expand access to health care, and improve Americans’ overall health. But, as the New York Times recently reported, at least 20 percent of the new enrollees have not paid their premiums. They therefore do not really have insurance. But even for those enrollees paying premiums, having health insurance is not the same thing as getting good health care, or any health care. In fact, it doesn’t matter how many Americans obtain insurance under the ACA. Most will have difficulty finding a physician. Many Americans

Megyn Kelly’s "Kelly File" is a great news show. She’s incisive, informed and customarily handles the toughest guest with aplomb. But her lengthy interview of Facebook C.O.O. Sheryl Sandberg about her second book in the Lean In series Lean In: For Graduates was a head shaker. Amazing that she of all people allowed Sandberg to restring the same old, same old, shamed, and shopworn feminist myths about women and girls and then jangle it in front of her viewing audience like something new out of the box. Indeed Kelly all but genuflected in front of this woman. Kept her on thru

On Saturday, I wrote about the standoff at Bundy Ranch. That post drew a remarkable amount of traffic, even though, as I wrote then, I had not quite decided what to make of the story. Since then, I have continued to study the facts and have drawn some conclusions. Here they are. First, it must be admitted that legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

Less than a minute into his speech at the Boston marathon bombing memorial on Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden went tragically off script and told the crowd of Boston bombing survivors that "it was worth it." After expressing how impressed he was with the tribute, he said somberly, "let me say to those ´quote survivors,´ my God, you have survived and you have soared. It was worth it. I mean this sincerely - just to hear each of you speak. You´re truly, truly inspiring." The audience sat in stunned silence until Biden declared, "I´ve never heard anything so beautiful than

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as

Casual marijuana use may come with some not-so-casual side effects. For the first time ever, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures. The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development. Dr. Hans Breiter, co-senior study author, said he was inspired to look at the effects of casual

Hank Aaron’s recent comments about the need for America to realize that racism is still very much alive and thriving — only now due to those who wear “neckties and starched shirts” rather than KKK hoods — has sparked an angry backlash and many fans are turning the tables, calling the baseball legend himself a racist. “Hank Aaron is a s*****g piece of [expletive] [racial slur],” one man said in an email to the Atlanta Braves’ front office, one of the teams Mr. Aaron used to play for, CBS News reported. “My old man instilled in my mind from a

Western Washington University sent a questionnaire to students asking them for advice on how the administration could succeed at making sure that in future years, “we are not as white as we are today.” The question notes that WWU’s racial make up does not perfectly reflect the nation at large, and asks students to consider strategies that other universities have used to focus on skin color as the paramount indicator of a student-applicant’s worth. The president of WWU has stated that his explicit goal is to reduce the white population on campus, according to Campus Reform. “I’ve said before and I’ll say it

Funny question in the headline, yes? But since President Obama worries more about the threat of terrorists´ improvised nuclear device going off in a major American city than anything Russia can throw at us, I was wondering if the government had deigned to share with us citizens any tips for, you know, surviving something their own intelligence points to as the likeliest unlikely Black Swan event. Well, no. And yes. No — very few people in Washington, D.C., who work for the government have any idea what they would do if a 10-kiloton nuclear device exploded at the intersection of 16th and K

Look, everyone loves Sean Connery, particularly Sean Connery. That’s why he plays Sean Connery in every movie he’s in. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes. Connery just has to show up on time. In economics you devalue a currency by printing too much of it. In film you
