House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Friday there is an anti-government strain of the GOP that is causing problems for the whole, calling on Republicans to take back control. “They have something going on. I say to Republicans, ‘Take back your party,’” Pelosi said on “CBS This Morning.” She pointed to the fact that a majority of Republicans didn’t support President George W. Bush on TARP and that they didn’t vote for federal aid after Hurricane Sandy as evidence of the issues that are also seen in the current government shutdown. Pelosi pointed to intraparty fighting on the GOP side as

Ms. Pelosi,

If the majority of the GOP did not support those programs that you cited, it would indicate that the majority is currently driving the party.

What you really want is for the nice compliant Republicans like Olympia Snow and John Boehner to take your orders and vote the way you tell them.

Sorry, madam, it ain´t going to happen.

As Russian pressure increased on a newly self-liberated Ukraine, with the Crimean peninsula as the initial focus of the Kremlin’s appetite for Soviet-era revanchism, President Obama had this to say to the nation and the world on the evening of February 28: Any violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity would be deeply destabilizing, which is not in the interests of Ukraine, Russia or Europe. Doesn’t something seem obviously, glaringly missing here? Are there no American interests engaged in the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine? The Obama administration on Sunday worked to isolate Russia on the world stage even as its president, Vladimir Putin, showed no signs of rolling back his military intervention in Ukraine. President Obama spoke by phone with leaders from Great Britain, Germany and Poland, and he dispatched Secretary of State to Kiev on Tuesday for a show of solidarity with the new Ukrainian government. After suspending preparations for an upcoming Group of 8 summit in Sochi, the administration began canceling lower-level diplomatic and economic meetings with Russian counterparts. Israel can expect to face international isolation and possible sanctions from countries and companies across the world if Benjamin Netanyahu fails to endorse a framework agreement with the Palestinians, US President Barack Obama cautioned on Sunday ahead of a meeting with the Israeli prime minister. President Obama´s proclaimed strategy to "bypass Congress" — most conspicuously his broad rewriting of the Affordable Care Act — has given unusual prominence to a fairly arcane legal doctrine: standing. Standing is what is preventing a potential blizzard of litigation against the president´s unilateral decrees, and ironically, it´s a doctrine liberal jurists have long decried. To challenge the government in federal court, it isn´t enough to simply believe that the government´s conduct is illegal or even unconstitutional. Federal courts can hear only specific disputes about the law as applied to particular people. To be heard in court, a person must have
