´The Hammer´ Checked
Every Sleazy Box

National Journal, by Ron Fournier

Original Article

Posted By:toledo, 10/4/2013 8:10:17 AM

What ails Washington? My list would include hyper-partisan redistricting schemes, pay-to-play corruption, zero-sum-gain ideology, runaway entitlement spending and, finally, the trivializing notion that U.S. politics is a game played by celebrity-politicians. Who broke Washington? No one person, of course, but former GOP strongman Tom DeLay checks every sleazy box. The former GOP House majority leader represented Texas´ 22nd congressional district from 1984 to 2006, when he left amid scandal. Redistricting: The Constitution requires new congressional lines to be drawn every 10 years to reflect the latest census, a process that has always been freighted by politics.

Ron, Ron, Ron.

Great investigative journalism ... talking about a guy out of politics for several years, convicted by a shady prosecutor in a friendly court, later (too much later) thrown out.

But where´s your stories on Dingy Harry´s crooked land deals and that all his kids are congressional lobbyists?

Where´s your stories on all the preferential deals to enrich personal businesses of people like Nasty Nancy Pelosi, the Senators from California, and other Democrats like Claire McCaskill whose hubby closes his business deals in the Senate dining room.

At worst, "The Hammer" checked almost every box that they did. Except for the one that said "How much money is in it for me?"

Nonsense. You want to check a sleeze box, look at Pelosi´s record during her tenure as house majority leader. How else do you think she got Obamacare passed. Threats, bullying, playoffs, lies, deceits, you name it, that old bag showed herself a master of every evil the human race practices. And now that Delay has cleared himself in court, you think your little spite article can keep him from entering the political fray again. Well, time will tell but we could sure use him at Capitol Hill right now stiffening a few spines.

So, Fournier, when he really digs can come up with a list of political crimes and pin them on Tom Delay! What bravery!

That list of crimes is called Tuesday for most Democrats. Should be fish in a barrel, Ron.

The districts at issue did not fairly represent the politics of the residents. Tom Delay worked to correct that condition. He was framed by Democrats. Ron Fournier is hoping that people have forgotten what the case was all about. He is a poor reporter.

No matter how you slice it - -

- - 2001 represented the first time in all of our adult lives that the Pubbies controlled all branches of the Federal government - - but instead of cherishing and cementing the Reagan Revolution - - Bush, DeLay, Lott, Hastert, Stevens and their ilk betrayed it.

Yes - - betrayed - - not too strong a word to use in this context. They betrayed Reagan - - and gave us 0bama.

If the remaining Bush-lovers out there haven´t reconciled themselves to this by now - - they really should.

Those without health insurance have less than two months to enroll in new plans before penalties kick in, and the Obama administration is racing the clock to get them signed up. A new study conducted for The Associated Press shows the administration is best off focusing on a relatively narrow geographic area: Half of those under 65 without insurance live in just 116 of the nation’s 3,143 counties. And half of all 19-39 year olds without insurance — the most coveted demographic as health-care providers look to expand their risk pools — live in 108 counties. Shortly before her event, she likely will be found meditating among the trees, soaking in their energy and saying a prayer for the environment around her. There’s no last-minute huddling with a coach. A professional snowboarder since 15, Anderson sees no need for a coach, dominating the X Games the past seven years by crafting what she calls a “soul-shredding” program all her own. And stashed in her pocket, along with an MP3 player loaded with a song for every mood, is a vial of herbal oil. “You never

Today her estranged brother, Moses, joined the chorus characterizing her statement as a vengeful lie. Yes, she’s the daughter of a beloved film director and she’s making very serious allegations. No, I don’t know the family personally. Here’s why I believe Dylan Farrow: While all the caveats

In all the comment about this month’s Sochi Olympics, there is bewilderment above all about Sochi itself: Why on earth would the Kremlin decide to host the Games in an underdeveloped place where terrorists lurk nearby—a place that a front-page New York Times story this week describes as “the edge of a war zone”? The answer is not as complicated as it may seem. Vladimir Putin comes from St. Petersburg. He rules from Moscow. But it is the North Caucasus that launched him on his path to the summit of Russian power. Anyone who wants to understand the many controversies now

"My mother drummed it into me to hate my father for tearing apart the family and sexually molesting my sister," Moses, 36, tells PEOPLE in the magazine´s new issue. He adds that internet users are becoming increasingly carefree in their use of the punctuation mark - with some professional writers following suit, according to The Times. ´[You] could take them out of a great deal of modern American
