Obama Overplays His Shutdown Hand
IDB Editorial, by Staff

Original Article

In case there´s any doubt as to who´s to blame for this outrage, a spokesman for National Park Service said the White House Office of Management and Budget ordered up the blockades.Even Bill Clinton didn´t have the audacity to try such a thing during the 1995 government shutdown. As the AP reported at the time, "tourists were free to wander the halls of the Capitol, touch the walls of the Vietnam Memorial and climb the steps of the Lincoln Memorial to read the Gettysburg Address — those and other similar sites don´t require supervision of federal employees." This isn´t the first time

And Tom Hanks wants a Third Term...

I´d suggest another term for all this, but could not post it here.

If the Republicans win this showdown (which I am beginning to think they might), it will not be because they fought so well. It will be because the Democrats were so foolish as to do what the Republicans usually do and "read the stage directions".

The game is completely rigged. The Democrats can do whatever they want and if any of it is objectionable they just blame Republicans. The slavish media takes the baton and dutifully reports that it is all the fault of Republicans and the Republicans go to Fox to plead their case. Meanwhile the Democrats have ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, The Washington Post, The N.Y. Times, Time, Newsweek, AP, etc. and overwhelm every news cycle. And even on Fox we have to hear from Juan Williams, Tamara Holder and Bob Beckel. As long as the media is corrupt, we will have very few wins, I´m afraid.

It is clear to me Obama especially wants to cause pain to patriotic Americans, people who truly appreciate the goodness of our country. He has closed memorials to our warriors both here and abroad. Who is hurt most by the barricades he orders erected, (spending more to barricade than to keep open)? He is a disgustingly small, evil man.

If the pubbies cave on this, they are finished, and so are we.

Washington (AP) – Federal agents raided a House Republican caucus last evening, arresting all 232 members. In a news conference shortly afterward, Attorney General Eric Holder said the entire caucus will be held indefinitely for violating the Sedition Act of 1918. The charge: reckless disregard of the president’s agenda.

Q Ed Henry, Fox News. The Sedition Act of 1918 was repealed in 1921, sir.

HOLDER: Hearsay, Ed. Rumors. Go try to find the original signed bill repealing the act. You won’t, because it doesn’t exist.

HENRY: (to himself) Yeah. Anymore.

Q: Art Shapiro, NPR. Was it really necessary to use dogs and fire hoses, sir?

HOLDER: I’ll let my newly appointed second-in-command answer that. He was in charge of the operation. Reverend Al?

SHARPTON: Resiskance was antipiquated, Art. We just took a pigeon outta Bull Connor’s book, is all. Payback is sweet. The dogs didn’t bite but three people. Vets immediately attended the animals as Harry Reid advised us some of those Republicans are rabid.

Q. Where are the detainees now, Mr. Attorney General?

HOLDER: Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium/Holding Pen, along with members of their staffs.

Q: David Jackson, USA Today: Were those people read their rights, sir?

HOLDER: Yes, FBI agent Felipe Miranda addressed the group. He warned them that unless they sent a clean CR to the Senate, their immediate families would be picked up as well.

Q: That was their Miranda warning?

HOLDER: Spirit of the law, David.

Q: Mike Allen, Politico. What happens if Boehner doesn’t budge? How long are you prepared to hold the detainees?

HOLDER: Until the D.C. United vs. Houston Dynamo on the 27th, Mike. After that, Guantanamo. We’re implementing early release of the jihadists there now so we’ll have room to house the Republican terrorists if they don’t come to their senses.

Am I the only one who thinks it´s beyond coincidence that a mentally ill man just happened to be able to make his way into the Navy Yard with a sawed off shotgun last week when the Budget Battle was heating up, and kill a half dozen people?

Am I the only one who thinks that it´s beyond coincidence that a mentally ill woman from Connecticut just happened to be in Washington ,D C. yesterday, 300+ miles from home with a baby in the car, outside the gates to the White House, and managed to get herself shot and killed by the Secret Service/Capitol Police?

Am I the only one who believes we´re beyond the "Look! It´s a squirrel" scenario now?

Should I shop for new head ware? Perhaps one with less tin foil?

Here´s an idea, Republicans should point out the fact that although Obama has closed the memorials both here and abroad, he has managed to keep the golf course open at Andrews Air Force Base. Nothing must interrupt the boy king´s recreation.

#12 He kept the golf course open at Andrews but closed the grocery stores the military families use. If people can´t see what this evil little man is doing they are dumber than I thought. Although I did read yesterday that the media are withholding the poll results that are unfavorable to Obama. Now there´s a shocker.

The type of people who visit the WWII memorial and the Lincoln Memorial are patriotic Americans.
Just the type of Americans Obama despises.

Remember when Michelle whispered "All that for a d*** flag" and Barack nodded in agreement?

Well, this is one patriotic American who despises him back.

Obama is losing this one. Fox reported last night that in the LSM, out of 21 stories on the shutdown, all 21 were blaming it on Republicans. Then they showed a poll in which 25% blamed republicans and 24% blamed zippy. Despite the media blitz, zippy is almost even with Republicans. Zippy didn´t win on the sequester either, despite the LSM hysteria.

Even the Lowfo´s use the internet. If they can´t login to get their "free healthcare" or actually are successful logging in and find out what it really costs, they may actually understand why the Republicans are fighting this fight.

The timing of the rollout of Obamacare and the shutdown could not be better for us.

Golf course at Andrews AFB open, grocery stores at army bases closed, national parks closed, Debbie Wasserman Schultz still getting paid.

And this FTA: Obama is expending more resources to close these monuments than they require to stay open.

Republicans need to hammer Harry Reid with these facts. Quote the little jackass at every opportunity: "Why would we want to" help one child with cancer? He´s refusing to consider bills that will keep parts of the government open. His motives are transparent and are detrimental to our country. Bombard the American people with these truths. And don´t back down.

Petty is not one of my favorite adjectives for Obama, but it fits beautifully. I´m beginning to run out of them with this guy. Too many to mention here...and some you wouldn´t/shouldn´t/couldn´t print anyway. Certainly, at the very least, he is the most extraordinarily un-presidential character we´ve had sitting in the Oval Office - our Oval Office, by the way - not his or any other president´s.

He reminds me of my 15 month old grandson. When he can´t get his own way, he pumps his tiny hands up and down and stamps his tiny feet. His mother tells him to take his tantrum to another room. Obama and his dems are throwing a huge tantrum right now because they can´t get their own way right now. Obama has no history with this country. He doesn´t really understand what being an American is all about. One doesn´t close the Veterans parks out of spite because of what the veterans gave to the country.

I have a question (statement) a bit off the subject but somewhat connected.

Why is it an imposition/hardship for an individual to sign up for Voter Registration but is quite convenient for everyone to sign up for Obama Health Care??? One is a reliable program and cost nothing and the other is dysfunctional and the cost (s) are unclear and open to abuse?

Sometimes a cartoon says it best like the one on the Lucianne home page showing Helicopters flying 24/7 to hold up a giant sheet to block the view of Mt Rushmore during the shutdown. Obama overplays his hand showing everyone he can pick and choose what money gets spent on while denying any say in this to the branch of government that has the power of the purse under the constitution gets the blame for shutting down funds for cancer research for the children while they try to get money past Obama to do that very thing. How can even Lofo´s not understand that Obama overplays his shutdown hand?

What we are seeing is the difference in a president who had experience as a governor and one whose only experience was as a "community organizer".

Governors have experience working with state legislatures and compromising and negotiating. Obama´s only skill set is to demand and not give in until he gets his way...and make everyone as miserable as possible to add pressure.

Obama is a nasty piece of work. Look how he shamed the Supreme Court with them right there (though that didn´t stop John Roberts from tying himself in knots to save Obamacare) and dump both Bernake and our allies in Eastern Europe who were depending on our defense system, right there to their anger and humiliation. He lies constantly and is never called out by the Press. For this reason he can never overplay a hand or be recognized for his lying and pettiness. He gets a free pass!

One bright side to this, when the money runs out to pay the brownshirts who are holding all of our national parks and monuments hostage, they will re-open and will run without government assistance. I think both parties are terrified that a longer shutdown will expose them all as useless and irrelevant, that´s why the desperation is showing to end this. I´m sorry that some good people are being hurt by this shutdown but I am enjoying the heck out of their childish circus and watching the DIC rant, threaten and sweat his way through a situation over which he has no control.

Martial Law is his only recourse if congress can´t resolve this. Watch for it and be ready.

Picky/choosey 0bama deemed funding for FEMA to go back to work but he selectively refuses to fund cancer patients immediate requirements, American History Memorials & National Parks, televised football games for our troops and on & on?!!! Now he is threatening to withhold SS checks? Look how he is targeting things and people with his wrath right now!

If 0bama is already picking & choosing which previously legislated laws he will enforce while ignoring those he doesn´t like, such as existing Immigration Law, border security & the fence, etc., IMAGINE what he could do under the umbrella, ´´0bamacare!´´

This current blatant preferential abuse of power in order to hurt/´herd´ American citizens is but a glimpse into what he, Sebelius and the nuevo socialistic hippie/dem party have in store for every American forced under the BIG Government thumb of 0bamacare! And they expect us to pay for such abuses!! ...Imagine how they can & will play favorites if 0bamacare is funded and fully implemented!!! Soylent Green/death panels?!!

The shifty sands of statist dem politics is what 0bamacare is built upon, which is totally contrary to the American Declaration of INDEPENDENCE, the U.S Constitution and American history. The dem party is trying to take the ´´IN´ out of each American citizen´s Declaration of, ´´Independence,´´ as an EQUAL individual U.S.A. citizen, rendering everyone DEPENDENT on BIG Governmental ´top down´ preferences. -YIKES!!! Having lived through 19 of these things myself let me say this about that ~ it was time off ~ not exactly vacation time since you could get called back momentarily.

The same thing happened with Republican or Democrat Presidents, and with Republican or Democrat houses of Congress.

They do it to the other guys. They do it to each other. They do it, do it, do it!

Obama´s cronies at OPM are remarkably survile ~ slave mentality types. They do whatever he asks. He wants to beat up 90 year old veterans, they´ll make sure it´s done.

I think we need an OPM PURGE!

If civil war breaks out in D.C., it will be between generals, Roman style.

The country lost its bearings with the misuse of legislative process when AFA-O-Care was not originated in the House. Reverse order on that vote. Plus, of course, the corrupt vote itself.

The legislation encodes tyranny in various forms. The people running the system have fill-in-the-blank privileges whereby the rules can be altered to suit the political moment, or any moment, without any overview by an ombudsman or House committee.

On and on it is going, the country is in a tightening spiral. If civil war breaks out it will be between generals in D.C.

Hold on there, cowboy!Texas Monthly magazine sued the New York Times on Friday for poaching its editor. Jake Silverstein, who was hired away from the Emmis Communications title last month to become the new editor of the New York Times Magazine, was under contract at the regional monthly until the Times, “without legal justification or excuse,” caused him to breach that deal, the lawsuit claims. The six-page Texas state court action alleges that Times Executive Editor Jill Abramson started recruiting Silverstein in December 2012 — a full year before then-magazine editor Hugo Lindgren was ousted. New York - President Barack Obama is coming to New York City Friday to address the Rev. Al Sharpton‘s National Action Network. The visit comes days after revelations surfaced that Sharpton worked with the FBI. The topic also came up in a 2011 ’60 Minutes’ interview with Lesley Stahl weeks before the debut of “Politics Nation.”In outtakes posted from that interview, Stahl asked Sharpton if he was an FBI informant. The exchange got testy at times when Stahl continued to question Rev. Al about his “informant” role.Stahl: When you were in your 20s, you were an informant for the FBI.Sharpton: Sharpton: No, well it’s according to

First came the “polar vortex” — now it’s the “pollen vortex.”Forced to lie dormant by the long, brutal winter, trees are now set to start reproducing like crazy — and create a massive amount of pollen that could wallop your sinuses this weekend. Pollen count in the Northeast will soar to “high levels” Saturday and Sunday, when warm temperatures will prompt plants to create the sniffle-inducing substance, reports Pollen.com, which offers allergy “forecasts.” In New York City, where the temps could hit 70 degrees Saturday, allergy symptoms will “become more severe,” the site says. April is generally the worst month of allergy season,

President Obama stood Friday with the Rev. Al Sharpton and accused Republicans of trying to keep millions of Americans from voting, in a fiery speech days after new revelations about Sharpton’s past as an FBI informant. “The right to vote is threatened today in a way that it has not been since the Voting Rights Act became law nearly five decades ago,” Obama told the annual convention of Sharpton’s National Action Network in Manhattan. Obama’s appearance represented a presidential seal of approval of Sharpton’s role as a civil rights activist, amid the new revelations about how Sharpton used a wire to record

Two years before the Boston Marathon bombing, the Russian government concealed key information on one of the killers that might have thwarted the attack, a new report charges.Kremlin officials intercepted a phone conversation in which Tamerlan Tsarnaev discussed Islamic jihad with his mother, but they withheld the information from the FBI, according to the U.S. inspector general report that comes as the one-year anniversary of the bombing approaches. Had the FBI been privy to the red-flag phone call, it would have prompted the bureau to take an extensive look at Tsarnaev, according to The New York Times. “Had they known what the

Fears that high-speed traders have been rigging the U.S. stock market went mainstream last week thanks to allegations in a book by financial author Michael Lewis, but there may be a more serious threat to investors: the increasing amount of trading that happens outside of exchanges. Some former regulators and academics say so much trading is now happening away from exchanges that publicly quoted prices for stocks on exchanges may no longer properly reflect where the market is. And this problem could cost investors far more money than any shenanigans related to high frequency trading. When the average investor, or even

A triumphant President Barack Obama declared Tuesday his signature medical insurance overhaul a success, saying it has made America´s health care system ´a lot better´ in a Rose Garden press conference. But buried in the 7.1 million enrollments he announced in a heavily staged appearance is a more unsettling reality. Numbers from a RAND Corporation study that has been kept under wraps suggest that barely 858,000 previously uninsured Americans – nowhere near 7.1 million – have paid for new policies and joined the ranks of the insured by Monday night.

For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. That was quite a victory dance President Obama did Thursday while claiming Obamacare is “working” because eight million people have now supposedly signed up for the health care program. He even indulged in some less-than-subtle mockery of Republicans - and by extension the majority of Americans who have disapproved of Obamacare since before it became law. GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

In a speech earlier this week, Lisa O. Monaco, President Barack Obama’s assistant for homeland security and counterterrorism, insisted that American parents must be vigilant because their “confrontational” children could be on the verge of becoming terrorists. Monaco’s full, prepared text is available here. She presented the speech, entitled “Countering Violent Extremism and the Power of Community,” at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government on April 15. Monaco began her remarks by eloquently describing the lives tragically lost last year during the Boston Marathon bombings. Interestingly, the Harvard grad failed to mention the religion or the motive of brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after

WASHINGTON--Rushing to an afternoon vote last month, Sen. Ted Cruz hopped the underground tram to the U.S. Capitol from his office across the street. The Texan planted his black ostrich cowboy boots in the middle of the small subway car without getting so much as a nod from the other senators--Republican or Democrat--amiably chatting or huddled in their seats. If the Rev. John DeBonville could preach a sermon to lift the souls of churchgoers across America, his message would be simple: Stop dressing so tacky for church. DeBonville has heard about the “come as you are” approach to dressing down for Sunday service, but he says the Sabbath is getting too sloppy. When he scans the pews of churches, DeBonville sees rows of people dressed in their Sunday worst. They saunter into church in baggy shorts, flip-flop sandals, tennis shoes and grubby T-shirts. Some even slide into the pews carrying coffee in plastic foam containers as if they’re going to Starbucks. “It’s like

President Obama asserts that 8 million people have signed up for Obamacare, as though that were something to be proud of. In fact, Obamacare has always been a fiasco from a fiscal perspective–a black hole of subsidies and expanded Medicaid, with largely fictitious mechanisms in place to pay for it. As the number of subsidized participants grows, the disaster gets worse. Charles Blahous explains: Our national discussion…is missing the truly significant story here; what is unfolding before our eyes is a colossal fiscal disaster, poised to haunt legislators and taxpayers for decades to come. It is quite possible that the ACA is

“On the third day, he rose again.” That line, from the Nicene Creed, is a foundational statement of Christian belief. It declares that three days after Jesus died on the cross, he was resurrected, a glimmer of the eternal life promised to believers. It’s the heart of the Easter story in seven little words. But how that statement is interpreted is the source of some of the deepest rifts in Christianity — and a stumbling block for some Christians, and more than a few skeptics. Did Jesus literally come back from the dead in a bodily resurrection, as many traditionalist
