Capitol, woman killed

ABC News, by Staff

WASHINGTON - Authorities shot and killed a woman Thursday afternoon outside the U.S. Capitol after she attempted to drive her vehicle through a barricade, police tell ABC7. The incident reportedly began when an unidentified woman tried to drive through a barricade at the White House. She had a child in the back seat of her vehicle. The woman fled the area and ended up at the Capitol, where she reportedly tried to drive through another barricade. Authorities opened fire on the vehicle, killing the woman, authorities say. ABC News reports the child in the vehicle with the woman is unharmed.

"...woman tried to drive through a barricade at the White House."

"At" the White House? Wendell Goler (FNC) is reporting from the WH grounds... this "White House gate" is blocks away, with no direct access to the WH grounds.
Then again, it is ABCNews, so facts don´t really matter.

Was she armed? I guess a summary execution was somehow preferred over just shooting out her tires.

The little girl being carried away was black. Almost two hours in and no one will tell us the race of the woman. If she was white the drive bys would have stated it and connected her to the Tea Party already.

So, what type of tires did she have on her car? Were they those cool 80K mile radial one`s for extra traction, you know, when an if you need to blow through a barricade or other sturdy object?

I think I will wait a week before looking at the MSM news. I am tired of the worthless speculation and the endless feed of ´facts´ that really aren´t facts. Then the posturing of various ´experts´ telling us in a patronizing manner how we should think. A pox on them all.

They also seem to have no sense of history. I am old enough to remember when the Puerto Rican nationalists stormed the White House to kill Harry Truman. Stuff like this has always happened in the past. Listen to the MSM and you would think something like this never happened before.

Agree with so many of the above posters. The cable TV script proceeding as we could have predicted. They announce they do not want to speculate but then go on to speculate! They just announced the minority whip of the House at the podium praising all the Capitol police. Look, I believe in giving honor to whom honor is due. However, from what little we know, with a woman dead, don´t you think they need to hold off on the kudos?

They´ve finally reported that no Capitol Hill police were shot. It appears she may not have had a gun. Wonder about this ramming the gates thing, too. Is there video?

It would be beyond horrible if all of this was the result of an official over-reaction. Poor baby having to witness that. The photo I saw she looked about 18 mos to 2 years.

First she rammed a barricade at the WH gate, sped away from the police in a car chase, then rammed a barricade at the Capitol. Doesn´t sound like this is all an official overreaction. If it had turned out this was a terrorist or innocent bystanders had been killed the complaints would be the police didn´t kill the driver fast enough.

Could this simply be a case of a confused and frustrated driver who was trying to get to her destination and did not know how to get around with all of the Barrycades?

Now that she is dead, we will never know the truth, so naturally, the msm will feel free to make it up as they go along.

Prayers to this little tot and the rest of the woman´s family.

Just did a quick search and the results (results only - no further in-depth) tell me that Alhurra was set up in the Bush Administration after 9/11 (government-sponsored and funded, of course) to try to stop some of the ´´hatred´´.

See how that works? WE pay taxes to fund an outreach TV network to stop THEIR hatred of us, in THEIR language.

I just heard the Clueless McConnell on Hannity´s show praising the Capitol police for their brave actions. What is praiseworthy about banging away at a lone woman driving no matter how recklessly. Haven´t the Capitol police been properly trained? There are a number of ways to stop a car without shooting the unarmed driver.

Media and particularly cable news has never been as polarized as it is today. It’s also never been tilted more towards opinion and less toward objective reporting of hard news. As a result, trust in media has fallen to an all-time low. Reporters in particular are looked upon as dishonest brokers in the business, with Gallup showing only 20 percent of those polled finding journalists honest and ethical (that’s 65 percent lower than nurses, 50 percent lower than doctors and engineers). Solid investigative reporters are simply in short supply and demand. Why? Because with opinion programming so much cheaper to produce

On Saturday, I wrote about the standoff at Bundy Ranch. That post drew a remarkable amount of traffic, even though, as I wrote then, I had not quite decided what to make of the story. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

The White House is going to war with another fox — and this time, it’s personal. The Wall Street Journal reports that a red fox has been causing chaos around the White House, tripping security alarms, digging up Michelle’s garden and distracting the president from his duties. The Secret Service won’t give any details about how often the fox trips the White House’s obviously sophisticated security alarms, but rest assured, officials say, they’re watching. President Obama was apparently “stunned” to see the fox roaming freely down the oft-photographed White House colonnade, home to the world’s shortest, but most dramatic, outdoor strolls. Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?

First, the good news: We are close enough to the end of the Obama presidency for his crowd to talk about a presidential library. Now, the bad news: Obama´s retirement is still 1,008 days distant. Plenty of time though to round up the dough to build it somewhere. Figure they need Solyndra-style money, at least $500 million. The last two presidents – Bill Clinton and George W. Bush -- built their legacy edifices totally with private money. [Snip] However, Obama supporters have a different take. They think taxpayers should put up $100 million in public money for Obama´s library.

Their answer: The immaculately conceived Clinton child could mean everything. And no, it’s not just the fact that having a grandchild could be personally fulfilling to Hillary and Bill (mazel tov, by the way), or that a cute baby would be a sweet cherry on top of Hillary’s already

Prominent Washington correspondents are accusing President Obama and his aides of knowingly stretching the truth on issues like the so-called women´s pay gap just to create controversy and keep issues -- and the president -- relevant. Washington Post columnist Ruth Marcus kicked off the attack last week when she blasted as “demagoguery” the administration´s tactics during the pay gap debate. “The level of hyperbole -- actually, of demagoguery -- that Democrats have engaged in here is revolting,” she wrote. CBS White House Correspondent Major Garrett then weighed in this week in his National Journal
