Shots were fired outside the U.S. Capitol Thursday afternoon and Capitol police were telling people to shelter in place. The incident appeared to begin around 2:19 p.m. and Capitol police say the Capitol was locked down. Officers with semi-automatic weapons were seen running for the exits on the first floor of the House side of the Capitol. Reports of shots inside were unconfirmed. As of 2:26, the Senate floor was still open and the Senate was on the floor, but police were in the hallways, reporters on the scene said. Rep. Sometimes it looks like so many police agencies converging that they are all running into each other. Talk about chaos !

Looks like Obama´s "Red October" may be starting. Neo-Bolsheviks everywhere, but not yet waving the big red flags with the hammer and sickle on them.

Good pretext for martial law and gun confiscation, eh? Not...so...fast.

One source said it was a car chase and the shots were fired by police. They supposedly took a baby from the car. Sounds like someone thought the police were shut down, too, and a little carjacking was in order.

I´m with #23 - when the hyperventilating media calm down, this entire incident will be due to a frustrated driver who decided she didn´t need to stop for police, and made a run from what would have been an innocent mistake.
My money is on an overreaction by Capitol Police who decided to open fire on her car after she didn´t immediately stop.

1:40 minutes along, and the media still show no signs of taking a breath, so don´t expect much in the way of facts anytime soon. That ´press conference´ by the Chief was... bizarre. Who holds a PC to tell them you don´t really know anything?

Doctors can be hard people to shock, but a recent case left one surgeon flabbergasted. A 63-year-old man came to hospital complaining of vomiting and stomach pain. He claimed he´d swallowed the lid of a bottle in an act of anger during a marital dispute, and was given an x-ray. Doctors knew what they were seeing was no bottle cap, but it was not until they operated on the man that the source of his complaint was revealed. Twelve bars of gold weighing nearly 400g were found in the man´s stomach and removed. The BBC reports that police and customs authorities had questioned the businessman and confiscated the gold.

Doha, Qatar - The Muslim Brotherhood, the Islamic political organization that has been defanged in almost every area where it was once a key player, has driven a deep rift between the Gulf´s two most powerful players. Months of tension between Qatar and its neighbors came to a head last month when Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) withdrew their ambassadors. Although the regional Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) announced yesterday that the parties had resolved their disagreement, that will likely remain a surface-level fix unless Qatar abandons its support of the Muslim Brotherhood – something it

Washington - The Obama administration is putting off its decision on the Keystone XL oil pipeline, likely until after the November elections, by extending its review of the controversial project indefinitely. In a surprise announcement Friday as Washington was winding down for Easter, the State Department said federal agencies will have more time to weigh in on the politically fraught decision — but declined to say how much longer. Officials said the decision will have to wait for the dust to settle in Nebraska, where a judge in February overturned a state law that allowed the pipeline´s path through the state.
